Fleas:  parents fumigate school

Parents requested it, but the process takes a week

Guatemala earthquake was felt in San Salvador

Reuters | Monday, March 28, 2011 11:07 a.m.
An earthquake of 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale which occurred today off the coast of Guatemala was felt in San Salvador , but did not cause any damage, according to the National Service of Territorial Studies (SNET) of El Salvador.

In the Salvadoran capital marked tremor intensity of three degrees on the Modified Mercalli scale, which ranges from 1 to 12, and was felt in tall buildings, according to the official report.

A bulletin issued by the National Institute of Seismology of Guatemala (Insivumeh) said the tremor occurred at 6.19 local time (12.19 GMT) and its epicenter was located 152 kilometers south of the capital, in the Pacific Ocean.

SNET stood at 4.9 degrees the magnitude of the quake in Guatemala.

El Salvador quakes Last 7 days

 El salvador has volcanoes and many faults, is south of Guatemala, and reported the quake in the Pacific, at 10 Km depth was a 4.9, not a 4.5, a difference of .4 points in the scale. The quake was towards Guatemala, in the Pacific, along border with El Salvador.

This is of concern to SA moves west, because we will need to move Panama-CostaRica in our way west, while the Caribbean Compresses. Quakes from Guatemala down towards Panama, the movement of the Caribbean Westward and downwards, if these countries are loosened, then we have room to move.  El Salvador reports a lot of movement for last  and the crunch is replaced by other type of situation, so one is in the look out.

Thanks a million !  Very great illustration with the plate flexibility !... I thought of how we had that post where the bouy showed something like a 3 mile rise - I think it was also Tasman Sea or thereabouts, and it really boggles my mind that the undulation is SO extreme...!!

Nancy commented that a sinking of the east coast of South America was to be expected as South America rolls west. This is the ocean (Atlantic) getting to wash a road. They call it Spring tide, same as it was called when Miami streets where flooded recently.

Part of the stone roof of the College of Commerce Manuel Belgrano, fell today, fortunately without casualties or injuries were recorded.
