Merida 25 parishes of the state cut off by rain
 
Of the 86 parishes that has the state of Merida, 25 are cut off by heavy rains that have occurred in the entity recent days, the governor of Merida state, Marcos Díaz Orellana.

Paramo area, municipalities and Archbishop Guaraque Chacón, who belong to the people of the south are the sectors that have suffered the most damage by the rains.

The president said that the rains of the last two weeks have left incommunicado 7 000 households and 1,350 families reported loss of their homes.

In the early hours of Wednesday 57 families were moved to different shelters and supportive homes.

Also this same day there was an overflow in local 008, the road connecting from Merida to the south of the lake, Zulia state, which has prevented the passage of vehicles. Alternate routes, such as La Palmita, Zea, Ponds, Santa Cruz de Mora y Tovar also collapsed.

Another sector that are cut off is the way of Paramo, specifically from Timotes to the city of Valera, Trujillo state.

It rises to 10 missing in landslides in Colombia

The authorities said on Thursday it was raised to 10 the number of people missing in a mudslide registered land and rocks on Wednesday in northwestern Colombia as a result of rains that hit the region.

Runoff, resulting from the rising waters of a stream, affecting at least five districts and destroyed 20 homes in the municipality of San Vicente de Chucuri in the department of Santander and about 262 miles northeast of Bogota, said Emily Smith, Mayor of the place.

Authorities initially said the avalanche killed a child and seven others were missing, but after learning from the affected families, the number rose to 10 people.

"There are a rescue team searching for these 10 people - including children, adults and youth - but with growing force that led the creek do not believe that the lives of them are easy to rescue" or continue with life, Smith said in a telephone interview.

The hospital's director of St. Vincent de Chucurí, Dr. Gustavo Gomez, said yesterday 19 people were injured, of which four were sent to Bucaramanga, capital of the department and about 300 miles northeast of Bogota, the severity of their wounds.

"Of the 15 who remained in the hospital, 14 of them were discharged and one remains only because it has multiple fractures of consideration, (but) not life threatening," Gomez said in a telephone.

According to the National Office of Disaster Prevention and Treatment, the rainy season has left since January and so far, including victims of San Vicente de Chucuri, 123 dead.

At least another 500,000 people are homeless and at least 90,000 houses have been damaged, 19 of the 32 departments in Colombia, according to the report released daily by management.

The president Juan Manuel Santos said on Monday that, according to official information provided to it, it is expected that the rains subsided in June.

Landslide worries in Quevedo

At approximately 14:00, a landslide occurred in Quevedo in the area known as Loma de Los Alamos, one of the central districts of the capital fluminense.

The National Centre for Monitoring of the Secretariat for Civil Protection has warned about the presence of high waves on the beaches of Guerrero, caused by the presence of marine equatorial countercurrent.

The state office reported that it has taken precautionary measures against high waves due to topographic conditions found in some of the beaches in the state.
