🌍 One Wobble, Two Connected Layers: Plate Movement and Global Weather

The daily Earth wobble has been underway for a long time. It did not suddenly begin in August 2026. What stands out in this period is the increasingly visible overlap between two expressions of the same intensified wobble:

  1. Atmospheric disruption above, including displaced air masses, pressure shifts, heat domes, violent thunderstorms, tornadoes, extreme rainfall and rapid temperature reversals.
  2. Increasing plate movement below, including compression, stretching, earthquakes, landslides, volcanic unrest and movement along plate borders and ocean ridges.

The purpose of this blog is to keep both layers together. Weather events should not be studied separately from plate stress, and plate activity should not be viewed without considering the daily wobble and its effect on the atmosphere.

The daily wobble and the four Earth faces

The “faces” identify which broad longitude sector is facing the Sun during each part of the daily Figure-8 wobble. They are not separate forces or separate wobbles. They are successive phases of one daily motion.

Pacific / New Zealand Face. Polar Push
The magnetic North Pole is pushed away. A new daily wobble cycle and renewed global stress begin.

India Face. Lean Right
Compression around the Himalayas and the India Plate “Brake” becomes especially relevant.

Italy / Europe Face. Lean Left
The earlier lean reverses. European and Mediterranean circulation and plate loading can change sharply.

Atlantic / Americas Face. Bounce Back
The globe rebounds from the preceding lean, affecting the Atlantic and Americas before the next Polar Push.

Because the atmosphere, oceans and crust respond differently, the wobble does not produce the same effect everywhere at the same moment. One region can experience trapped heat while another receives violent storms or flooding. One plate border can be compressed while a distant ridge or subduction zone releases accumulated stress.

The significant feature is the organized global overlap, not one isolated weather record or earthquake.

24 August: the Pomas tornado during the Atlantic transition

On 24 August, a destructive tornado struck Pomas in southern France at approximately 15:00 to 15:20 UTC. It injured 39 people and damaged about 300 homes. Around 100 homes were reportedly left unsafe or uninhabitable. Winds were estimated above 200 km/h, with later assessments placing the tornado around the EF2 to EF3 range.

The tornado did not form in isolation. Southern France and the western Mediterranean had already experienced repeated heatwaves, drought, very dry ground and exceptionally warm water. The tornado occurred during a larger outbreak involving severe thunderstorms, hail, destructive winds, flooding and tens of thousands of lightning strikes across a corridor extending from Spain and southern France toward Corsica.

Its timing is especially relevant. At approximately 15:20 UTC, Europe was rotating away from the Italy Face Lean Left and into the Atlantic/Americas Bounce Back. This is the part of the daily wobble when the previous lean reverses and Atlantic pressure patterns can shift quickly.

The event therefore fits the following sequence:

European Lean Left → Atlantic transition → collision of warm African and cooler Atlantic air → rotating storms and destructive weather

The tornado was one atmospheric expression of a much wider transition involving trapped heat, sharp pressure changes and rapidly reorganizing air masses.

26 August: the India Plate “Brake” and the Tibet mudslide

On 26 August, a catastrophic collapse occurred directly along the Nepal-Tibet border. Glacier ice, rock, mud and water moved down the mountain system, producing a destructive debris flow and flash flooding through the border region.

The seismic signal was initially reported as an earthquake of about magnitude 5.2. Later analysis identified the signal as being produced by the enormous landslide itself. The essential ZetaTalk question is what destabilized the glacier, rock and water at this precise plate boundary.

ZetaTalk identifies movement of the India Plate as the trigger. The India Plate is being pushed beneath the Himalayas and acts as the “Brake” within global plate movement. When this brake moves, other plates are temporarily freer to adjust.

The location is central to the interpretation. The collapse occurred directly on the India-Tibet plate border, where compression and plate-border trauma would be expected when India is driven farther beneath the Himalayas. This movement destabilized the mountain mass, releasing rock, ice and accumulated water.

The mudslide should therefore be understood as more than a weather-related glacier failure. It marks movement at one of the most important pressure points in the global plate system.

26 to 29 August: the tectonic ricochet

The events following the Tibet collapse help show why the India Plate is described as the Brake.

Immediate response to the west

On 27 August, earthquakes appeared on the western side of the India Plate near Madagascar and the Indian Ocean ridge system. ZetaTalk explained that these were not the expected eastward domino sequence. They were a continuation of the original India Plate movement.

Because the India Plate is large and curves toward Australia, movement beneath the Himalayas can open space on both sides. A void opens to the west in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar, while pressure is also transferred toward the minor platelets east of India.

Later ricochet to the east

On 29 August, additional activity developed across Indonesia and the surrounding collision zones. This was the later west-to-east movement expected from a Domino or Ricochet event.

The sequence was therefore:

  1. 26 August, India-Tibet border: the Brake moves and the Tibet collapse occurs.
  2. 27 August, Madagascar side: an immediate western adjustment remains part of the India Plate movement.
  3. 29 August, Indonesia: pressure transfers eastward into separate minor plates and collision zones.

This was not one simple bounce. It was a chain reaction in which movement at a major continental brake temporarily allowed other plate boundaries to adjust.

The atmospheric side: record heat, violent storms and opposite extremes

While this tectonic ricochet was developing below, the atmosphere above was also showing increasingly extreme displacement.

The pattern was not simply “everything getting hotter.” Hot air was being trapped or driven into unusual regions, while cooler or moisture-loaded air collided with it elsewhere. This created record temperatures on one side of a boundary and violent storms, flooding or sudden cooling on the other.

Records reported on 1 and 2 September

  • Southern France: 36.6°C at Les Vans, 36.5°C at Fitou and 35.2°C at BĂŠziers, following earlier September records at Monfort and Trets.
  • Balkans: Overnight minimums of 28.3°C at Dubrovnik and 27.0°C at Podgorica. Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia recorded their warmest September nights.
  • North Africa: Minimums of 32.4°C at Ouargla, 31.9°C at Touggourt and 31.8°C at El Oued. Records also fell across Tunisia and parts of West Africa.
  • Canadian Arctic: Clyde reached 15.4°C near 70°N, setting a September record.
  • Siberia: Selagoncy reached 27.8°C and broke its September record immediately after breaking an August record.
  • Mongolia: Bayantoorai reached 37.7°C, reported as Mongolia’s highest September temperature.
  • South and Southeast Asia: Record maximums and exceptionally high nighttime minimums spread across India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
  • Central America: Choluteca reached 39.8°C, reported as Honduras’s highest September temperature.
  • South America: Lima recorded a September minimum of 20.4°C while parts of the Amazon approached 40°C.

Weather historian Maximiliano Herrera reported that tens of thousands of records had been broken across more than 220 countries and territories during the opening days of September. The importance lies in the geographical spread. The record pattern extended from Africa across Europe and Asia, into the Americas and high Arctic.

At the same time, the remnants of Tropical Storm Edouard brought an opposite extreme to Texas. Some areas received up to approximately 53 centimetres of rain, accompanied by flash flooding, uprooted trees, widespread power failures and a reported wind gust of 145 km/h.

This is the push-pull pattern expected when the wobble disrupts air and water masses:

Trapped and displaced heat in one region → pressure and moisture concentration elsewhere → abrupt storms, flooding and temperature reversals

Plate activity continuing into 2 September

The plate response also continued. The USGS 24-hour feed generated at approximately 15:24 UTC on 2 September listed 19 earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 or greater. The most relevant feature was their clustering along ridges, subduction zones and plate margins.

  • 22:37 to 23:45 UTC, 1 September. Mid-Indian Ridge: M4.6, M4.7 and M4.6 cluster.
  • 00:04 UTC. Papua, Indonesia: M5.6.
  • 05:10 to 05:40 UTC. Aleutian Islands, Alaska: four earthquakes between M4.6 and M5.2.
  • 06:13 and 06:57 UTC. South Island, New Zealand: M5.3 followed by M5.2.
  • 10:54 UTC. South Sandwich Islands: M5.2.
  • 12:28 UTC. Offshore Mexico: M5.6.
  • 12:32 UTC. Aleutian Islands: M5.2.
  • 12:35 UTC. Southern East Pacific Rise: M5.9.

The Mexico, Aleutian and East Pacific Rise earthquakes occurred within approximately eight minutes despite their wide geographical separation. Earlier, three earthquakes had clustered along the Mid-Indian Ridge, followed by activity in Indonesia, New Zealand and the Aleutians.

The developing line can be summarized as:

Mid-Indian Ridge → Indonesia → New Zealand and Aleutians → South Sandwich Islands → Mexico and East Pacific Rise

Mount Sinabung in Indonesia also erupted on 31 August after volcanic seismicity had increased since late July. This adds volcanic pressure release to the continuing Indonesian and western Pacific activity.

The bigger picture

The late-August and early-September events should be viewed as one developing global picture.

Above the surface

  • African heat is driven into the Mediterranean and Europe.
  • Record warmth reaches Siberia, Canada and the Arctic.
  • Warm nights show that heat remains trapped after sunset.
  • Colliding air masses generate tornadoes, hail, extreme lightning and destructive winds.
  • Displaced water and moisture produce exceptional rainfall and flooding elsewhere.

Below the surface

  • The India Plate is pushed beneath the Himalayas.
  • Border trauma destabilizes the Tibet mountain system.
  • Movement opens space west toward Madagascar.
  • Pressure later transfers east through Indonesia.
  • Ridge, subduction-zone and plate-margin activity continues into the Pacific and Americas.

These are two connected expressions of the same intensified daily wobble. The atmosphere responds through pressure, wind, temperature and water. The crust responds through compression, stretching, slipping, sinking, landslides, earthquakes and volcanic activity.

What to watch next

The next stage is not to focus on every isolated event. The stronger evidence will come from repeated clusters that reproduce the same relationships:

  • plate movement near the India Plate Brake;
  • activity west near Madagascar and the Indian Ocean ridges;
  • later movement through Indonesia and the western Pacific;
  • Atlantic and Americas activity during the Bounce Back;
  • European heat or storms during the Italy Face and Atlantic transition;
  • same-day overlap between atmospheric extremes and plate releases;
  • events that repeatedly cluster within similar UTC windows.

Event time is more useful than the time a report was posted. When adding observations, use UTC wherever possible and include the original source.

Flores and southern Java, Indonesia; Taiwan; the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge; Fiji; Argentina; and the eastern Pacific.

Atmospheric event

Tropical Depression Fifteen-E is an addition to this tracking update. At 03:00 UTC, NHC reported sustained winds of 35 mph, central pressure of 1,006 mb and a position southwest of Baja California at 17.0°N, 118.3°W.

NHC forecast possible tropical-storm development, but this strengthening was not yet observed in the retrieved advisory. Its formation time was not established in this scan, so it should not automatically be counted as forming after the previous cutoff.

Norbert remained at 45 mph and 1,002 mb at 03:00 UTC, unchanged from 21:00 UTC. Two tropical systems are therefore being tracked in the eastern Pacific, without evidence of rapid intensification in these advisories.

Updated reporting of Sunday’s northeastern US flooding describes rainfall reaching seven inches, approximately 178 mm, in some Connecticut communities. This refines the earlier rainfall picture rather than representing a new overnight storm.

No additional station-specific heat or nighttime-minimum reports appeared in the specialist feed checked. The earlier reports remain part of the multi-day record.

Plate event

Five new reviewed M4.5+ earthquakes were recorded:

The Ruteng pair provides the clearest local continuation. The earthquakes were approximately 8.6 km apart, separated by 2 hours 13 minutes 46 seconds. Their proximity and matching catalogued depths make the smaller event a plausible local aftershock.

The M5.1 also occurred approximately 34.5 km from the 12 September M4.6 north-northeast of Ruteng. This strengthens the finding of repeated activity around northern Flores.

The Dampit earthquake adds another release south of Java. Its 33.4 km depth distinguishes it from the earlier Java Sea M6.5 at 372 km. These are separate events in different depth settings.

The northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge M5.4 is the largest new event in this interval and adds an Atlantic boundary to the overnight picture. No moment-tensor solutions were returned for any of the five earthquakes. The ridge event therefore cannot yet be assigned specifically to extension or an associated transform fault, and it does not measure a change in spreading speed.

Smaller reviewed activity included M4.4 south of Fiji at 438.2 km depth and M4.4 in northwestern Argentina at 189 km depth.

All ten global sectors were checked. Indonesia is active again, while the India–Himalaya, Madagascar–Indian Ocean and Aden–Red Sea corridors added no new M4.5+ events.

Volcanic emissions also continue. Ibu had an ash observation at 03:40 UTC reaching FL080, approximately 2.4 km above sea level. Dukono had an observation at 04:10 UTC reaching FL070, approximately 2.1 km. These match the previously reported heights.

Kīlauea’s latest retrieved bulletin remains the 13 September report of 104 cumulative precursory overflows, continued inflation and reduced overflow frequency. No newer confirmation of episode 55’s main fountaining onset was found.

Wobble phase

Precise wobble phases remain unassigned because independent contemporaneous markers are missing. The known earthquake times alone cannot establish those phases.

ZetaTalk connection

For the “8 of 10” and tectonic Continental Drift tracking, the strongest additions are repeated activity around Flores and a release on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

The rolling sequence now includes successive activity around Japan, Vanuatu, Indonesia, South America and the Atlantic. This strengthens the record of regional recurrence and activity across multiple boundaries.

The Ruteng pair probably includes a local aftershock, so it should not be counted as two independent plate-transfer events. Likewise, a ridge earthquake does not by itself establish faster Atlantic separation.

Indonesian recurrence is relevant to the eastern side of the India Plate Brake framework, but the missing western-corridor connection remains unresolved. No direct Ricochet chain is established.

The broader sequence continues, with greater geographic spread in this interval. The proposed transition toward tectonic Continental Drift remains a working interpretation, without a new displacement measurement establishing that transition.

Atmospheric event

The scale of today’s northeastern US flooding is becoming clearer.

Updated Connecticut reporting describes 5–6 inches of rain, approximately 127–152 mm, in some shoreline communities, with reported rainfall rates reaching four inches per hour. These are additional details about today’s storm, not necessarily rain accumulated since the previous update.

AP reports vehicle and household rescues, disrupted Metro-North and Amtrak services, and closure of Tweed New Haven Airport’s departure terminal. Westport crews conducted 13 vehicle rescues, while Bridgeport responders used boats to evacuate residents.

Moroccan heat continues, with temperatures reportedly reaching 45°C. Sidi Ifni recorded a reported 42.1°C, described as a September record, alongside strong chergui winds toward the coast.

Another report gives Colombian September record claims of 37.4°C at Chima, 29.2°C at Boavita and 24.8°C at Guican. The same source reports frost and snow in parts of Argentina and Chile, including unusual snowfall in San Luis and La Rioja. These observations illustrate strong regional contrasts.

The temperature rankings and snowfall descriptions remain attributed reports. Exact observation times and historical rankings were not independently verified in this scan.

Norbert weakened further. At 21:00 UTC, sustained winds were 45 mph and central pressure 1,002 mb, compared with 50 mph and 1,000 mb at 15:00 UTC.

The southern Vanuatu earthquake continues the wider regional sequence. It occurred approximately 573 km from this morning’s Port-Olry M5.2, which was 135.1 km deep, and 345 km from the Loyalty Islands M5.0, which was 98.8 km deep.

The sequence now includes shallow and intermediate-depth releases across the broader Australia–Pacific boundary region. The separation and depth differences do not justify automatically classifying the new M4.9 as a direct aftershock of either morning event.

Argentina’s earthquake adds shallow activity in the Andean interior. No mechanism was available to identify its specific fault movement.

The Argentina and Vanuatu origin times were only 78.415 seconds apart, but the events were approximately 12,123 km apart. This is a timing observation, not evidence that one triggered the other. Neither event had a published focal mechanism in the retrieved products.

The global scan found new M4.5+ activity only in South America and the southwest Pacific during this interval. The India–Himalaya, Madagascar–Indian Ocean, Aden–Red Sea and Indonesian watch corridors added no new events at that threshold.

Kīlauea’s new 19:15 UTC bulletin also changes the recent volcanic picture. The cumulative count reached 104 precursory overflows, but HVO reports only four in the preceding 24 hours and none since 12 September, 22:00 UTC.

Summit inflation continues, while overflow frequency has fallen. Episode 55’s main fountaining onset remains unconfirmed. HVO says inflation-based forecasting models are no longer valid and gives 13–14 September as a conditional forecast window.

Great Sitkin continues slow lava extrusion. The previously reported Ibu and Dukono ash observations remain carried context.

Wobble phase

No precise wobble phase is assigned. Independent contemporaneous markers remain unavailable, and weather-report publication times cannot establish when the underlying observations occurred.

ZetaTalk connection

For the “8 of 10” and tectonic Continental Drift tracking, the strongest new continuity evidence is another Vanuatu-region release following the morning’s activity. Argentina adds activity in another region after the afternoon lull.

This preserves the multi-day picture of repeated regional releases and several active plate systems. It does not establish uninterrupted significant movement or an intercontinental trigger chain.

The two-layer picture also remains mixed: flood impacts are more extensively documented, while Norbert has weakened and Kīlauea’s overflow activity has slowed despite continued inflation.

The wider seismic sequence continues. Specific India Plate Brake and Ricochet connections remain unresolved, and this scan leaves the proposed Continental Drift transition as an unchanged working interpretation.

Atmospheric event

Additional reports extend the pattern of unusually warm nights across several regions.

Extreme Temperatures reports these September high-minimum records:

• Culiacán, Mexico: 28.9°C.
• Choluteca, Honduras: 29.1°C.
• Trujillo, Honduras: 28.1°C.
• Pavas Airport, Costa Rica: 22.2°C.
• Santamaría Airport, Costa Rica: 22.1°C.

The same report lists Las Vegas at 31.7°C on 11 September. This is newly reported historical information, not a temperature observed this afternoon.

Indonesia adds reported minimum temperatures of 27.8°C at Tarempa and 25.8°C at Pontianak, alongside a maximum of 36.0°C at Poso.

An Indian report adds yesterday’s maximum temperatures of 36.4°C at Punalur, 34.5°C at Thiruvananthapuram and 33.9°C at Bengaluru. Its Bapatla minimum of 29.5°C was already included in our tracking.

These record claims remain attributed to Extreme Temperatures. Exact station-observation times and historical rankings were not independently verified in this scan.

Flooding in the northeastern United States has progressed from forecast risk to observed impacts.

The 16:20 UTC National Weather Service discussion reports residual flooding in parts of New Jersey, with the Saddle River at Lodi rising through minor flood stage. Heavy-rain pockets persisted across southern Connecticut and Long Island. Connecticut reporting also describes flooded roads, highway disruption and stranded vehicles.

NWS identifies a warm front and low-pressure wave drawing on a tropical air mass with precipitable water above two inches. Rain was easing farther west, with improving conditions expected during the afternoon.

Norbert remained at 50 mph and 1,000 mb at 15:00 UTC, unchanged from this morning.

Plate event

No new M4.5+ earthquakes appeared in the global catalogue between 10:16 and 16:52 UTC.

Smaller reviewed activity included an M3.9 offshore central Chile and earthquakes around Puerto Rico and the Texas–New Mexico border region. No changes were detected among the overlapping M4.5+ catalogue entries compared with this morning’s retrieval.

The earlier Japan M5.1, Bonin M4.9, Vanuatu M5.2, Loyalty Islands M5.0 and Mutsu M4.7 remain the main sequence for today. They are carried context, not additional afternoon events.

All ten global sectors were checked. The India–Himalaya, Madagascar–Indian Ocean, Aden–Red Sea, Indonesia, Philippine–Molucca and southwest Pacific watch areas added no new M4.5+ events during this interval.

Volcanic emissions continue in Indonesia. Ibu’s 16:00 UTC advisory reports an ash emission observed at 12:50 UTC, with the cloud at FL080, approximately 2.4 km above sea level. Dukono’s 16:30 UTC advisory reports ash observed at 16:10 UTC, reaching FL070, approximately 2.1 km above sea level.

Neither represents a further reported plume-height increase since the morning update. Krakatau’s terminated advisory remains unchanged.

Kīlauea’s latest retrieved bulletin still reports 101 precursory overflows. No newer confirmation of episode 55’s main fountaining onset was found.

Wobble phase

No precise wobble phase is assigned. Independent contemporaneous markers are missing, and heat-report publication times cannot substitute for the times of the underlying temperature observations.

ZetaTalk connection

The wider “8 of 10” and tectonic Continental Drift assessment remains focused on the multi-day sequence: repeated regional activity, significant releases and the involvement of several plate systems.

This afternoon adds a quieter seismic interval. It does not erase the earlier Pacific sequence, but it provides no fresh evidence of significant movement continuing uninterrupted or broadening geographically.

Meanwhile, further warm-night reports extend the atmospheric record, and northeastern US flooding adds concrete impacts. These belong in the two-layer ZetaTalk framework being examined, while their coexistence does not establish a common trigger.

The broader working assessment remains unchanged. Specific India Plate Brake and Ricochet connections remain unresolved, and this interval does not establish a transition toward tectonic Continental Drift.

Atmospheric event

Further extreme heat has been reported across Central America.

Extreme Temperatures reports 42.3°C at Choluteca, Honduras, and 40.3°C at Alcahuapa, El Salvador, describing both as national September records. Additional reports give 42.8°C at Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, and 34.2°C at Chilpancingo, at approximately 1,268 metres elevation.

A separate report describes temperatures reaching 40°C in Kazakhstan and 35°C in Siberia, with further eastward heat forecast into China and Mongolia. Those forecast temperatures are not yet observations.

These remain attributed temperature and record reports. Their exact station-observation times and historical rankings were not independently verified in this scan.

Nighttime warmth remains part of the wider picture. The official Memphis summary for 12 September recorded a minimum of 74°F, or 23.3°C, seven degrees Fahrenheit above normal. Its maximum reached 95°F, or 35°C. The minimum was unchanged from the preceding day.

Norbert weakened overall across this reporting interval. At 09:00 UTC it had sustained winds of 50 mph and central pressure of 1,000 mb, compared with 60 mph and 999 mb in the previous update.

Plate event

Five new reviewed M4.5+ earthquakes were recorded:

• 12 September, 20:32:58 UTC. M5.1, 101 km south of Yudomari, Japan. Depth: 45.5 km.

• 13 September, 03:50:32 UTC. M4.9, Bonin Islands region, Japan. Depth: 10 km.

• 13 September, 07:19:21 UTC. M5.2, 43 km ESE of Port-Olry, Vanuatu. Depth: 135.1 km.

• 13 September, 07:30:23 UTC. M5.0, southeast of the Loyalty Islands. Depth: 98.8 km.

• 13 September, 08:31:15 UTC. M4.7, 25 km north of Mutsu, Japan. Depth: 120.4 km.

Vanuatu provides the clearest continuation. Yesterday’s M4.7 at 188.1 km depth was followed by today’s M5.2 at 135.1 km depth, approximately 68 km farther south, after 15 hours 23 minutes 13 seconds.

This extends the activity from yesterday’s shallow Sola earthquake into repeated intermediate-depth releases around Espiritu Santo. A regional sequence relationship is plausible, but the different depths leave a direct-aftershock classification unresolved.

The Loyalty Islands M5.0 followed just 11 minutes 1 second later, approximately 882 km away. Both events occurred within the broader Australia–Pacific boundary region. The short interval is worth retaining, while timing alone does not establish triggering.

Japan’s events occurred in separate settings. The Yudomari M5.1 has a predominantly reverse/thrust mechanism. No moment tensors were returned for the Bonin, Mutsu, Vanuatu or Loyalty Islands events in this scan.

A smaller M3.9 near Adak at 02:08:42 UTC, depth 38.7 km, occurred close to the 11 September M5.3 location, consistent with continued local Aleutian adjustment.

The earlier Java Sea earthquake remains M6.5 at 372 km depth. That is carried context, not a new event.

The global scan found no new M4.5+ earthquakes in the India–Himalaya, Madagascar–Indian Ocean, Aden–Red Sea, Indonesia, South America, Mediterranean or South Sandwich sectors during this interval. The latest activity is more concentrated around Japan and the southwest Pacific.

Volcanic activity also continues. Ibu’s observed ash reached FL080, approximately 2.4 km above sea level, at 09:40 UTC. This is a modest increase from the previous FL070 report. Dukono produced an observed FL070 plume at 04:10 UTC.

Kīlauea’s latest retrieved bulletin still reports 101 precursory overflows. No newer confirmation of episode 55’s main fountaining onset was found. Krakatau’s terminated ash advisory remains unchanged.

Wobble phase

The earthquake times are established, but independent contemporaneous wobble markers are missing. No precise phase is assigned. The publication times of heat reports cannot substitute for station-observation times.

ZetaTalk connection

For tracking ZetaTalk’s “8 of 10” and tectonic Continental Drift, the important development is persistence across successive days, particularly around Vanuatu, alongside additional activity at other Pacific margins.

ZetaTalk describes the possibility that “significant plate movement in one area does not start and stop, but just keeps going.”

The current sequence adds repeated regional activity and further M5-class releases. It is geographically more concentrated in this window, rather than showing fresh global broadening.

The India Plate Brake and Ricochet interpretation receives no new direct support from the quiet western watch corridors. That leaves the specific proposed connection unresolved while the wider seismic sequence continues.

The working assessment remains continuity across multiple regions. Whether this represents the proposed transition toward tectonic Continental Drift remains under examination. No new displacement measurements in this scan establish that transition.

Global activity continues, with five additional reviewed M4.5+ earthquakes since 09:11 UTC, a revision to the deep Java Sea earthquake, increasing precursory activity at KÄŤlauea and further reports of exceptionally warm nights.

Plate events

An important correction to yesterday’s Java Sea report: USGS now lists the earthquake as M6.5 at 372 km depth, located 126 km NNE of Teluknaga, Indonesia. Its origin time is 11 September, 21:23:55.907 UTC.

This replaces the earlier M6.6 and 358.6 km figures. The newly available moment tensor indicates oblique faulting with a normal component within the deeply descending slab.

Five new reviewed earthquakes were recorded on 12 September:

• 09:35:46 UTC. M4.9, 147 km WNW of Sola, Vanuatu. Depth 16.9 km.

• 11:05:46 UTC. M4.9, South Sandwich Islands region. Depth 98.2 km.

• 11:16:12 UTC. M4.7, 32 km SW of Sipí, Colombia. Depth 77.3 km.

• 15:56:09 UTC. M4.7, 46 km NNE of Port-Olry, Vanuatu. Depth 188.1 km.

• 17:51:45 UTC. M4.8, 17 km WSW of Lixoúri, Greece. Depth 34.0 km.

Vanuatu’s two events were approximately 179 km apart, separated by 6 hours 20 minutes 22 seconds. Their markedly different depths point to activity in different parts of the subduction system. The deeper event should not automatically be classified as a local aftershock of the shallow earthquake.

Colombia shows a clearer local recurrence. Today’s M4.7 occurred approximately 2.7 km from yesterday’s M4.7, after 18 hours 33 minutes 41 seconds. This supports continued activity within the same local sequence.

South Sandwich remains active, while western Greece adds Mediterranean activity to this reporting window. The Greek mechanism indicates oblique normal/strike-slip faulting. No mechanisms were available for the other four new events.

The global scan found no additional M4.5+ origins in the India–Himalaya, Indian Ocean–Madagascar, Aden–Red Sea or Indonesia corridors during this interval. Smaller earthquakes continued elsewhere, including Alaska, California and the Caribbean.

Volcanic activity

Kīlauea’s 17:37 UTC bulletin reports 101 precursory overflows since 7 September, compared with 69 previously reported. Dome fountains have increased from roughly 5–10 metres to 10–15 metres, while summit inflation continues.

This is a measurable strengthening of local precursory activity. The main episode 55 fountaining onset remains unconfirmed in the checked bulletins.

Ibu produced an observed ash emission at 15:30 UTC, reaching approximately FL070, or 2.1 km above sea level. This represents continuing activity without an increase in reported plume height.

Krakatau’s ash advisory was terminated at 10:40 UTC. Ash was no longer identifiable, and no other reports indicated an ongoing eruption. Great Sitkin continued slow lava extrusion with weak seismicity.

Atmospheric activity

Further September high-minimum records were reported by Extreme Temperatures:

• Bapatla, India: 29.5°C.
• Jakarta Airport, Indonesia: 26.5°C.
• Arriaga, Mexico: 29.9°C.
• Hacienda Ylang, Mexico: 27.2°C.

A further report gives 45.2°C at Bima, Niger, described as a national September record, and temperatures reaching 44°C in Morocco.

These are attributed station-record reports. Exact observation times and historical rankings were not independently verified in this scan.

Norbert remained at 60 mph and 999 mb at 15:00 UTC, unchanged from 09:00 UTC. Meanwhile, the San Francisco region retained near-seasonal temperatures and an approaching dry front. The atmospheric picture therefore includes both persistent regional heat and areas of cooling.

Wobble phase and ZetaTalk connection

The global perspective remains essential to our tracking of ZetaTalk’s “8 of 10,” plate movements and tectonic Continental Drift. A quiet India corridor does not describe the whole globe.

This interval adds continued activity at Vanuatu, Colombia, South Sandwich and the Mediterranean. Repeated local activity and releases across several regions remain relevant to the continuity assessment.

However, this window’s largest new earthquakes were M4.9. It does not show increasing earthquake magnitude or establish one connected trigger chain. The India Plate Brake and Ricochet interpretations receive no fresh direct support from the quiet western watch corridors.

Exact wobble phases remain unassigned because contemporaneous markers are missing. Heat-report publication times cannot establish the timing of the underlying observations.

The developing picture remains one of geographically widespread activity, with stronger precursory activity at KÄŤlauea and additional warm-night reports. Whether this marks the proposed transition toward tectonic Continental Drift remains an active question in the tracking, rather than a conclusion established by this interval.

PLATE ACTIVITY BROADENS AGAIN, WITH MORE EXCEPTIONALLY WARM NIGHTS

This update covers 11 September, 20:55:31 UTC to 12 September, 09:11:17 UTC.

Atmospheric event

New reports extend the exceptionally warm nighttime-temperature pattern to Mexico and the Caribbean.

A specialist report published on 11 September at 22:57:26 UTC identifies September high-minimum records:

• Loreto, Mexico: 30.0°C.
• Lamentin Airport, Martinique: 27.8°C.
• Castries, Saint Lucia: 28.4°C.
• V. C. Bird Airport, Antigua and Barbuda: 28.1°C.

The Saint Lucia and Antigua and Barbuda values were reported as national September warm-night records. These remain attributed specialist reports. Exact station-observation times were not supplied.

These observations add to the earlier reported 32.0°C minimum in Pakistan and unusually warm nights in India and Indonesia.

Conditions are not moving in the same direction everywhere. The official Memphis summary for 11 September recorded a maximum of 33.9°C, a minimum of 23.3°C and approximately 16.3 mm of rain. Both temperatures were lower than the previous day. The minimum occurred at 04:52 UTC on 12 September.

Norbert also weakened slightly. At 09:00 UTC on 12 September, it had sustained winds of 60 mph and a pressure of 999 mb, compared with 65 mph and 996 mb in the preceding update.

Thailand’s Meteorological Department issued a heavy-rain warning effective at 22:00 UTC on 11 September. A strengthening southwest monsoon, monsoon trough and low near central Vietnam were expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall, with potential flash floods and landslides. Development of the Vietnam system into a tropical storm remained a forecast.

Nine reviewed M4.5+ earthquakes occurred within the checked window, including the Java Sea M6.6 covered in the earlier addendum.

The Java Sea M6.6 is now confirmed as reviewed. Its position and depth are consistent with a deep release within the subducted slab. No moment-tensor product was returned during this check, so its faulting direction remains unresolved.

South Sandwich reactivated 3 hours, 31 minutes and 13.417 seconds after the Java Sea earthquake. This returns activity to another region already present in the wider sequence. Timing alone does not establish a direct pressure transfer between them.

Indonesia subsequently recorded earthquakes at substantially different depths around Ruteng, Ternate and Tual. These are not a local aftershock group around the Java Sea epicentre.

Ruteng does have a strong local-sequence explanation: its epicentre lies approximately 4.7 km from an earlier M5.3, with the same reported 10 km depth. It should therefore not automatically be classified as a new remote response.

The Panama M4.7 occurred approximately 159 km from the 10 September Costa Rica M5.0, after 41 hours, 32 minutes and 56.545 seconds. This supports continued activity along the wider Central American margin, but does not establish a local aftershock relationship.

No moment-tensor products were returned for the nine events in this check. Smaller reviewed earthquakes also occurred near Haiti and Guatemala.

Volcanic activity

No new confirmation of KÄŤlauea episode 55 high fountaining was obtained. The latest retrieved report still described 69 overflows and renewed inflation. Those observations carry forward from the preceding update.

Krakatau’s 05:00 UTC advisory relied on ash last observed on 11 September at 08:20 UTC. Cloud obscured the latest satellite view, so this was not a newly observed plume escalation.

Ibu’s advisory reported ash last observed at 01:10 UTC on 12 September, approximately 2.1 km above sea level. This documents continuing emissions.

Wobble phase

No precise wobble phase is assigned. The temperature reports lack exact observation times, and earthquake timing alone does not establish the daily wobble phases.

ZetaTalk connection

The overlapping 8 of 10 remains central to the developing pattern.

Previously active regions are releasing again. The deep Java Sea earthquake has been followed chronologically by activity in South America, South Sandwich, Central America and additional Indonesian regions.

M6.6 DEEP EARTHQUAKE BENEATH THE JAVA SEA

Location

115 km NNE of Teluknaga, Indonesia.
Coordinates: 5.093°S, 106.903°E.

Plate event

The USGS event summary records an M6.6 earthquake at 21:23:55 UTC, with a depth of 358.6 km. Review status and focal mechanism were not available in the supplied summary.

This occurred only 28 minutes and 24 seconds after the previous update’s cutoff, and approximately 9 hours, 27 minutes and 32 seconds after the Banda-Timor M5.9.

The depth is significant. The earlier Banda-Timor earthquake was approximately 111.8 km deep. This new earthquake occurred much deeper, beneath the Java Sea.

Its position and depth are consistent with movement within the subducted slab. The faulting direction remains unresolved without a focal mechanism.

The two events are widely separated across Indonesia. The M6.6 is a separate release, not a local aftershock of the Banda-Timor M5.9.

Atmospheric event

The atmospheric observations from the preceding update carry forward. This addendum concerns the newly reported earthquake.

Wobble phase

No precise wobble phase is assigned from the available information.

ZetaTalk connection

This strengthens the continuity pattern being investigated within the overlapping 8 of 10.

The Indonesian sequence now includes:

• Shallow M5.3 activity near Timor.
• Intermediate-depth M5.9 activity in the Banda-Timor region.
• A deep M6.6 farther west beneath the Java Sea.

These are releases in different locations and at substantially different depths. They show the wider Indonesian system remaining active rather than the sequence ending with the earlier Timor events.

The westward change in location belongs in the wider India Plate “Brake” and Ricochet investigation. It does not, by itself, establish a direct pressure-transfer sequence from one earthquake to the next.

The strongest new conclusion is that substantial Indonesian activity is continuing, now with a larger and much deeper release. This adds weight to the continuity aspect of the overlapping 8 of 10 assessment.

BANDA-TIMOR M5.9, RENEWED KÄŞLAUEA INFLATION AND EXTREME NIGHTTIME HEAT

Location

Banda-Timor, the Aleutian Islands, Colombia, eastern India, Japan, Guam, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Pakistan, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Balkans.

This update covers 11 September, 10:51:14–20:55:31 UTC.

Atmospheric event

The most significant new nighttime-temperature report comes from Pakistan.

A specialist report published at 20:12:47 UTC gives a minimum of 32.0°C at Nokkudi, reported as another September highest-minimum record. The same report gives daytime maxima of 48.2°C at Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, and 48.1°C at Dayyer, Iran.

Additional September maximum-temperature records were reported:

• Zamboanga, Philippines: 36.2°C.
• Palangka Raya, Indonesia: 36.5°C.
• Kruševac, Serbia: 37.9°C.
• Florina, Greece: 36.7°C.

These remain attributed reports from Extreme Temperatures Around the World. Exact station-observation times were not supplied. Their publication times are therefore not being used as measurement times or precise wobble markers.

Norbert continued strengthening. At 15:00 UTC, sustained winds reached 65 mph with a central pressure of 996 mb. This was an increase of 5 mph in six hours, with pressure unchanged. It remained a tropical storm. Hurricane strength was forecast as a possibility, not yet observed.

California continued cooling as its marine layer returned. The atmospheric pattern therefore includes persistent extreme heat in several regions alongside regional easing elsewhere.

Plate event

Mechanism: oblique reverse faulting

This earthquake occurred 17 hours, 11 minutes and 42.872 seconds after the 10 September M5.3 east of Lospalos, approximately 195 km away.

The earlier earthquake was approximately 10 km deep. The new event was approximately 112 km deep. This is renewed activity within the wider Banda-Timor system, but the depth difference argues against describing it as a simple shallow aftershock.

The reviewed moment tensor shows compression combined with sideways movement. At this depth, movement within the descending slab is the stronger tectonic interpretation.

Adak revision and local aftershocks

The earlier preliminary M5.2 near Adak has now been revised to:

Two nearby earthquakes followed:

They occurred approximately 16 km and 14 km from the revised mainshock, after 4 minutes 42.582 seconds and 5 minutes 38.983 seconds. Local aftershocks are the strongest classification.

The Banda-Timor M5.9 followed the revised Adak origin by 1 hour, 9 minutes and 10.502 seconds. Their approximately 8,205 km separation means timing alone does not establish a direct Ricochet response.

This was a separate release in the complex western Colombian plate setting, 4 hours, 46 minutes and 7.779 seconds after Banda-Timor. No focal mechanism was available in the retrieved products.

Smaller activity extended the global picture:

• 11:40:29.420 UTC: M3.41 near Puerto Rico, depth 20.2 km.
• 17:56:20.821 UTC: M4.2 northwest of Sarupathar, India, depth 123.2 km.
• 18:53:32.548 UTC: M4.4 east of Noda, Japan, depth 32.4 km.
• 18:59:48.017 UTC: M4.4 west of Guam, depth 197.0 km.

The eastern India event belongs in the India Plate-margin review, but its location and intermediate depth distinguish it from a shallow Himalayan collision earthquake.

Volcanic activity

KÄŤlauea showed a material change.

HVO’s 17:51 UTC report recorded 69 overflows, up from the previously reported 50. Slow summit inflation had returned, and some overflows were more vigorous, with dome fountains approximately 5–10 metres high.

The latest overflow began at 17:32 UTC and was continuing when the bulletin was issued.

These are observed changes. Episode 55 high fountaining remained forecast rather than confirmed, and WATCH/ORANGE remained unchanged.

Wobble phase

No exact wobble phase is assigned to this sequence. The temperature reports lack precise station-observation times, and earthquake timing alone does not establish the daily wobble phases.

ZetaTalk connection

The overlapping 8 of 10 remains central to the developing pattern.

Previously active regions continue to release. A substantial intermediate-depth earthquake has returned activity to Banda-Timor, the Aleutians are adjusting locally, and a separate release has occurred in Colombia. Smaller earthquakes involve additional plate settings around eastern India, Japan, Guam and the Caribbean.

This supports the continuity aspect of the framework: repeated activity across several plate systems over successive days.

The eastern Indonesian release is relevant to the wider adjustment being investigated around the India Plate “Brake” and its eastern margins. However, this interval does not establish an ordered pressure transfer from a particular Himalayan earthquake.

The distinction matters. Adak’s smaller events are probable local aftershocks. Banda-Timor represents deeper regional movement. Colombia is a separate release. Together they maintain the wider pattern without requiring every earthquake to form one linear domino chain.

Above, extreme daytime and nighttime heat continues in several regions. Below, substantial earthquakes recur, while KÄŤlauea shows renewed inflation and more vigorous precursory activity.

The strongest assessment is continued multi-region activity. This interval strengthens continuity more clearly than global acceleration.

“We may be at the cusp of tectonic Continental Drift.”

That remains the working ZetaTalk interpretation being investigated through the accumulating sequence.

Norbert strengthened while Lowell completed its transition out of the tropical phase.

At 09:00 UTC on 11 September, Norbert had sustained winds of 60 mph and a central pressure of 996 mb. Compared with 15:00 UTC on 10 September, winds increased by 20 mph and pressure fell by 7 mb in 18 hours.

Lowell’s final advisory, valid at 03:00 UTC on 11 September, classified it as post-tropical, with winds of 50 mph and pressure of 997 mb. It should therefore no longer be counted as an active tropical cyclone.

Exceptionally warm nights remain an important part of the wider pattern.

New reports from Extreme Temperatures Around the World identify:

• Nellore, southern India: minimum 30.0°C, reported as a September station record.

• Ranai, Indonesia: minimum 27.6°C, reported as a September station record.

• Doha old international airport, Qatar: maximum 46.3°C, reported as a September record.

These are attributed specialist reports. Exact station-observation times were not supplied, so publication times are not being treated as measurement times.

The official Memphis summary for 10 September recorded a maximum of 99°F, or 37.2°C, tying the daily record from 1887. Its minimum was 78°F, or 25.6°C, which was 5.6°C above normal. That minimum predates this update window, but the newly issued summary confirms the earlier warm night.

California shows a different development. At approximately 07:00 UTC on 11 September, Bay Area temperatures were 5–25°F lower than 24 hours earlier, with the marine layer returning. The atmospheric picture therefore includes persistent heat in some regions and substantial cooling in others.

Plate event

Three new earthquakes of M4.5 or greater were recorded during the checked interval.

The two Vanuatu earthquakes occurred 3 hours, 33 minutes and 58.909 seconds apart, approximately 661 km apart. They represent activity within the same wider Australia-Pacific boundary system, but their separation and different depths do not support classifying them as a close local aftershock pair.

The Isangel earthquake occurred approximately 117 km from the 9 September M5.2, after an interval of 33 hours, 26 minutes and 20.880 seconds. This adds to the record of recurring activity along the Vanuatu boundary.

This returned M5-range activity to the Aleutians 8 hours, 18 minutes and 57.929 seconds after the Isangel earthquake. Its location west of the earlier Nikolski cluster means it should not automatically be classified as a Nikolski aftershock.

No focal mechanisms were available in the retrieved products for these three events. The Adak magnitude, depth and event identifier remain subject to review.

The wider global check also identified:

• 10 September, 21:14:01.954 UTC: M4.0, Rat Islands, depth 100.1 km.

• 11 September, 00:53:48.954 UTC: M4.4 northeast of Palu, Indonesia, depth 10 km.

• 11 September, 05:44:35.710 UTC: M4.2 offshore Mexico near Guatemala, depth 10 km.

• 11 September, 08:12:14.440 UTC: M3.75 north of Culebra, Puerto Rico, depth 90 km.

• 11 September, 08:59:58.077 UTC: M4.4 WNW of Longyearbyen, depth 10 km, in the wider Arctic ridge and transform region.

The larger events were more geographically concentrated than in the previous update. No new M4.5+ events were found during this window in the India-Himalaya, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean-Middle East, South American or South Sandwich sectors.

Volcanic activity

No new escalation was established in the reports retrieved for this interval.

Kīlauea’s latest retrieved report remained the 10 September update with 50 overflows. A new high-fountaining episode was not confirmed.

Krakatau ash was reported observed at 08:20 UTC on 11 September at approximately 1.52 km above sea level, moving southwest. This did not establish an increase in plume height.

Wobble phase

The events span several geographic sectors, but no precise wobble phase is assigned. The temperature reports lack exact station-observation times, and the earthquake sequence does not provide a contemporaneous wobble marker.

ZetaTalk connection

The strongest developing pattern remains repeated activity across several plate systems through successive days.

Vanuatu has reactivated. M5-range activity has returned to the Aleutians. Smaller releases continue around Indonesia, Central America, the Caribbean and the Arctic.

Within the ZetaTalk framework, this keeps the overlapping 8 of 10 central to the analysis. The relevant feature is recurrence across the rolling sequence, with several boundaries remaining active over time.

This interval supports continuity more strongly than geographical expansion. It contains fewer M4.5+ earthquakes than the preceding interval, and the larger releases are more concentrated.

The India Plate “Brake” remains part of the wider historical sequence, but no fresh Himalayan M4.5+ earthquake strengthens that connection during this window. Likewise, the Vanuatu-to-Aleutian timing alone does not establish a direct Ricochet response.

Above, unusually high nighttime minima continue to be reported while tropical systems evolve. Below, previously active plate boundaries release again. These remain the two layers being compared within the intensified-wobble framework.

This remains the working ZetaTalk assessment. The new evidence supports recurring activity, while the question of a broader accelerating transition remains unresolved.

Activity broadens across several plate systems while nighttime heat continues

Location

Costa Rica, Peru, Bolivia, Guam, Mexico, the southern East Pacific Rise, Timor-Leste, Hawaii, Thailand, South Africa and North America.

Atmospheric event

Further reports extend the unusually warm nighttime pattern:

• Tulsa, Oklahoma: minimum 28.3°C on 9 September, reported as a September high-minimum record.
• San Felipe, Mexico: minimum 31.4°C.
• Salina Cruz, Mexico: minimum 29.9°C.
• Koh Sichang, Thailand: minimum 29.4°C.
• Beaufort West, South Africa: minimum 22.5°C.
• Ceres, South Africa: maximum 34.9°C.

These are specialist-attributed record reports. Exact station observation windows and historical rankings were not independently confirmed in this update.

The pattern includes regional changes. Tulsa’s official preliminary minimum for 10 September was lower, at 23.3°C, although still 5°C above normal. California’s weather service also reported coastal cooling already developing, while higher elevations were forecast to retain much warmer nighttime temperatures.

In the Pacific, Fourteen-E has become Tropical Storm Norbert. At 15:00 UTC, Norbert had sustained winds of 40 mph and a central pressure of 1003 mb. This confirms modest strengthening, not rapid intensification.

Lowell remained a tropical storm at 60 mph and 988 mb. Its higher wind estimate compared with the earlier advisory partly reflects new satellite wind measurements. The accompanying discussion described degrading convection, so the change should not be presented as a fresh rapid-intensification episode.

The consequences of Lowell’s earlier passage are becoming clearer. AP reported two deaths suspected to be storm-related and an inoperable cargo harbour on Lānaʻi, disrupting food and fuel deliveries. Repairs were expected to take roughly two weeks, with alternative supply arrangements being planned.

This is a geographically broad sequence, but the relationships differ.

The Peru M4.7 occurred approximately 18.6 km from this morning’s M5.3, following it by 3 hours 56 minutes 55.890 seconds. It is best treated as a probable local aftershock or continued local adjustment.

The southern East Pacific Rise M5.4 occurred approximately 20 km from the 2 September M5.9, after 8 days 5 hours 45 minutes 22.307 seconds. This supports renewed activity within the same regional sequence. The earlier event’s strike-slip mechanism cannot automatically be assigned to today’s earthquake.

Mexico also has an older nearby sequence, including an August M5.8. Its new M4.5 should not automatically be counted as an independent plate activation.

Bolivia’s earthquake, at 372.6 km depth, represents a separate deep Nazca-slab setting. Costa Rica adds a shallow release near the Cocos–Caribbean margin, Guam adds activity in the wider Mariana system, and Timor-Leste returns activity to the Banda–Timor region.

Guam and Mexico occurred only 47.217 seconds apart, but approximately 13,120 km apart. The East Pacific Rise and Timor-Leste events were 23 minutes 21.309 seconds apart and approximately 12,339 km apart. These intervals establish chronology, not a demonstrated pressure-transfer chain.

No new M4.5+ appeared in the checked interval around India–Tibet, Madagascar, Aden–Red Sea, Vanuatu–Tonga, Alaska–Japan or the Atlantic–Mediterranean region. Their earlier activity remains part of the rolling record.

Volcanic activity continued as well. At 18:21 UTC, HVO reported 50 precursory lava overflows at KÄŤlauea, up from 29. The latest ended at 11:17 UTC.

However, little net summit inflation had occurred over the preceding 24 hours. HVO moved the expected high-fountaining window to 10–11 September. The increased overflow count documents continuing intermittent activity, while high fountaining remained unconfirmed in that report.

Krakatau’s latest retrieved advisory retained ash near 1.5 km aviation altitude, without an increase in plume height.

Wobble phase

The sequence continues through successive daily rotations, but no precise wobble phase is assigned without a documented timing marker.

The publication times of temperature reports are not treated as the times when nighttime minima occurred.

ZetaTalk connection

The strongest correspondence with the overlapping 8 of 10 remains persistence across successive days and multiple plate systems.

This update adds repeated activity in Peru, Mexico and the East Pacific Rise, further M5-range releases, and a broader distribution involving Central America, Guam and Timor-Leste.

This remains relevant to ZetaTalk’s description:

“significant plate movement in one area does not start and stop, but just keeps going.”

Local aftershocks are part of continuing regional adjustment. They are not counted as separate inter-plate transfers.

The earlier Indian Ocean release followed by later Timor activity is relevant to the India Plate Brake investigation. However, a specific Ricochet response remains unresolved because the sequence lacks a new Himalayan anchor and a demonstrated chain of connected mechanisms.

Within the two-layer framework, continuing plate activity coincides with further warm-night reports, tropical-system development and repeated volcanic overflows. Coastal cooling in California and Kīlauea’s delayed fountaining forecast show that the individual processes are not uniformly accelerating.

The wider working assessment remains:

We may be at the cusp of tectonic Continental Drift.

The latest observations strengthen the record of continuity and broaden this window’s geographic coverage. They do not establish an increase in continental velocity or confirm one global domino chain.
