Kanyakumari: Sea water entered about 100 houses in the coastal hamlets near here as the waves, measuring 10 to 15 feet, battered the coasts on Sunday.
Officials said that the sea was furious since June first week, but giant waves were seen only in Rayuman thurai, Vallavilai, Neerodi, Marthanam and Iraviputhan turai for the past two days.
The Protecting wall had been demolished and swept by the giant waves in some stretches, and people in the coastal pockets were spending sleepless nights, the local panchayat officials said.
They were taking steps to stop the sea wave entering into the villages, they said.
