Fault lines, when adjusting, do not just rip apart one day during a dramatic earthquake. They most often creep. Laying gas lines along or across a fault line is asking for an accident of this sort. Fault lines are also seldom so clearly delineated that one can go a mile in this or that direction and avoid their action. Where a slip-slide fault such as the San Andreas will often leave a clear line on the surface, this is only the surface action, not what occurs in the rock layers on either side which can fracture for a long way to either side during any movement. The gas company, or the age of the pipes, will be faulted but in truth the finger should be pointed in many directions. The public, who insist on living at such a scenic spot, is to blame. Officials, who zoned for housing are to blame. The public utility company, for allowing gas lines in the area, is to blame. But this will change nothing, while man continues to live on the San Andreas, even as it awakens. EOZT

The danger from radon gas will not be increased as a result of the pole shift. Radon gas is emitted by rock containing uranium, which is degrading. In normal circumstances, where air can circulate, it is disbursed rapidly as is any methane created by decay of organic material. The danger from these gasses comes from confinement - being trapped in a mine, a basement, or beneath the permafrost. The dangers are well known. For methane, it is explosions. An accumulation of methane gas can be identified by the smell of rotten eggs, or as some have described it, dirty socks or cabbage soup. For radon gas the danger is lung cancer, from the continual exposure to the radioactive air. Radon gas is odorless and cannot be detected except by specialized equipment not in the hands of the average person.

In that the pole shift, or the Earth changes preceding the pole shift, can fracture rock and release pockets of either gas, survivors should be cautious about huddling in bunkers. You are safer out in the open air, or in a trench you have dug that will allow the pole shift winds to pass over you, but nothing to fall on and crush you. The fact that both methane gas and radon gas can accumulate in the bunkers of the elite is one of the reasons we have stated that they have dug their own graves. EOZT

Anyone watching the news, for instance the news on the San Bruno explosion in a distribution line close to the San Andreas Fault line, knows that gas in any form is a danger. Oil and gas refineries explode when rigid piping cracks. Oil or gas wells explode when the ground around them moves. And the gas distribution lines running under cities are no exception. They likewise will explode. Gas lines, whether along the street or within a home, are rigid. In some cases automatic shutoff valves can limit the amount of gas available for an explosion by sensing a drop in pressure, but this is always after the fact. The explosion has already occurred. Utilizing gas on a planet prone to earthquakes was a mistake to begin with, but man never thinks of the consequences when striving for modern conveniences. We have advised turning off the gas at the street, though when the street explodes and your neighbor's homes are on fire you are not likely to escape the holocaust. A better alternative is to live in an area where gas is not available, as in your rural safe location where you will be doing a form of camping while gardening. A campfire at night, for cooking and washing and a bit of friendly light before bed. Nothing explosive. EOZT

SOZT Answer: It is no accident that the New Madrid fault lies under the Mississippi River near Memphis, as rivers form in lowlands created when land pulls apart, separating the rock fingers and weakening support for the land. Thus, the Ohio River bed also is an indication of where rock fingers will pull apart. Two adjustments in Kentucky, a day apart, are not an accident, but an indication of the speed at which the stretch zone is starting to adjust. Rail lines are frequently an early harbinger of such adjustments, as they run long distances, whereas structures within cities, such as tall buildings, take up relatively little space and have a small footprint. Our warning that imploding cities will be experienced, before the hour of the shift, are in this regard. Be warmed, it will not just be your rail lines and gas and water mains that will shatter and be pulled apart during the stretch. The foundations of your tall buildings will likewise be vulnerable.EOZT

Mysterious explosion jolts Washington town, destroys three buildings

By Doug Esser Associated Press
Posted:   04/25/2014 09:08:22 AM PDT

SEATTLE (AP) -- A big explosion and fire destroyed three buildings, damaged several others, sent debris flying for blocks and jolted people awake early Friday in a Washington town, firefighters and North Bend residents said.

About the only good news was the time -- 3:45 a.m. -- when few people were in the business district of the Cascades foothills town about 30 miles east of Seattle.

"We are very, very fortunate that it happened in the early morning. If it was two hours later the street would have been very busy," said Josie Williams, public information officer for Eastside Fire and Rescue.

A couple of minor injuries were reported at an assisted living facility where windows were blown out, she said.

It could take days to investigate the cause and estimate the value of the loss, she said.

Another Eastside Fire and Rescue spokesman, Wes Collins, told KING-TV that the blast may have been caused by a natural gas leak at a former pizza restaurant reportedly under renovation.

That building was leveled and the blast and fire also destroyed a barber shop and a separate building with three offices in the strip mall, Williams said. Debris was thrown 200-to-300 feet, blowing out windows and crumpling doors at a gas station and tire store. Flying debris also broke windows at a nearby apartment.

The manager of the gas station was one of the few people awake at the time. The manager heard alarms going off from the building before it exploded and called 911, Williams said.

The blast awakened North Bend residents including three firefighters at the station about two blocks away, Williams said. In all, about 80 firefighters from various departments responded as the fire went to two alarms.

Puget Sound Energy utility workers turned off natural gas and electricity in the area to help firefighters.

Residents told KOMO News and KIRO-TV that they thought it might have been an earthquake as houses rocked enough to knock pictures off walls. One woman said she heard the blast 5 miles away.

A nearby school was able to open as scheduled Friday and residents were allowed back into the area after the fire was out and the area cleared.

"There was a lot of debris all over the road," Williams said. "It was huge. We're so fortunate it was early in the morning and not a couple of hours later."

Explosion rocks natural gas plant in Wyoming, no injuries reported

Wed Apr 23, 2014 7:25pm EDT

(Reuters) - An explosion rocked a natural gas-processing plant in southwestern Wyoming on Wednesday, causing no injuries but prompting the evacuation of the facility and a nearby town, a company spokeswoman said.

The explosion in an apparatus called a turbo expender at the Williams Companies plant in Opal, Wyoming, touched off a fire that was still burning several hours later, company spokeswoman Michele Swaner said.

She said all 42 employees of the plant had been accounted for and were not injured. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department referred calls regarding the incident to Williams.

The explosion marked the second safety incident for Williams Companies Inc in the last few weeks.

The town of Opal has a population of less than 100 people.

On March 31, a pipeline within its liquefied natural gas facility in Washington exploded and shrapnel from the blast caused a leak in one of two liquefied natural gas tanks, prompting evacuation orders near the plant outside the rural town of Plymouth.

Williams operates two natural gas processing plants in Wyoming which remove liquids and other impurities from natural gas to allow it to be transported in large pipelines.

Gas comes to the processing plants from Williams gathering system, a network of 3,500 miles of pipelines which collect gas produced in the region.

The Williams' system has a capacity of more than 1 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) and has more than 3,500 receipt points serving the Wamsutter and southwest Wyoming areas.

The Opal and Echo Springs processing plants have a combined daily capacity of more than 2.2 Bcf/d of natural gas and nearly 125,000 barrels per day (bpd) of natural gas liquids.

`Neighborhood shook' in Dorchester explosion, fire

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Boston firefighters are battling a suspected gas explosion that blew a multi-family house apart and sparked a three-alarm fire in Dorchester tonight, with 11 people transported to the hospital, according to officials and a witness.

Jacqueline Jones, who lives two house away, described a blast that shook the street. “I was in my room. Everything in the house just shook. The whole neighborhood shook. I thought my house was hit by a car.

“But then I went outside and everything was in flames. The whole house was engulfed,” Jones said.

The house was still standing, with large holes blown in the walls. A door was also blown across the street, fire officials report.

Firefighters evacuated the building and began pumping water in through the gaping holes and the windows.

One eyewitness on Hansborough Street told the Herald she saw the house on her street “burst into flames” at about 9:20 p.m. She said police and fire officials were instructing neighbors to evacuate the area as a precaution.

Jones said she talked to a resident of the exploded house, and he said just before it went, he smelled gas and then, “There was a loud boom.”

A National Grid spokeswoman said the company, which supplies gas to the area, was investigating but had not confirmed a gas leak.

Before firefighters and medics arrived, Jones helped comfort an elderly woman who was bleeding and burned. Fire officials said that two elderly people were in serious condition.

Boston Fire reported the blaze and partial collapse of the two-and-a-half story house at 27 Hansborough St., near Harvard Street and Blue Hill Avenue, apparently was caused by some “type of explosion.”

Fire Commissioner John Hasson said there were eight people in the building and all were accounted for. Two were in serious condition and six others had injuries ranging from scratches to burns.

When firefighters arrived, the house was “knocked off its foundation,” Hasson said.

Mayor Martin J. Walsh was on the scene shortly after firefighters arrived.

“These things keep on happening. It’s sad,” Walsh said, referring to a series of recent serious fires, including the Back Bay fire that killed two firefighters and another that gutted two houses in East Boston. “I think everybody here will be OK. I heard it was a gas explosion, but they will investigate that. Right now, what’s important is getting everyone safe.”

Chemical Plant Explosion in China Kills at Least Five

The explosion of a chemical plant and subsequent fire killed at least five people in the city of Rugao, in China’s eastern Jiangsu Province, on April 16, according to official reports.

Two loud explosions sounded at around 10 a.m., issuing from the machine shop of a chemical plant that produces stearic acid in Rugao City, according to the official local newspaper Jianghai Evening News.

The fire was controlled at around 11 a.m, though rescue activities continue into the evening. At least 5 were found dead and 12 hospitalized, reports said. Three people were missing. The final death toll has not been made public.

“Bang! It was so loud. I thought it was a military exercise! And then I saw fire in the sky!” said a local resident who lives near the plant, in an interview with the U.S.-based Sound of Hope radio. “The doors and windows shook.”

Photos from China News, an official website, show heavy black smoke and large fires emanating from the plant, with part of the building collapsed. An irritating odor filled the air, the report said. Bodies were moved with a forklift.

Reports said that 20 ambulances were dispatched; police are still investigating the cause of the explosion.

The burnt plant belongs a large private manufacturer in Rugao City, called Shuangma Chemical, which launched in 1997. It mainly produces stearic acid, glycerin, palm wax.

Similar production safety accidents have been often reported in China’s chemical factories in recent years.

Last week, an explosion took place at a resin plant of Hengtong Chemical company in eastern China’s Shandong Province. A chlorine gas leak took place there in 2011, poisoning 125 people.

On Dec. 29 last year, three people were killed in a chemical plant in Linxi City of Shandong Province, after several barrels of hydrogen peroxide exploded.

Resident describes natural gas line explosion in Marshall County

MIDDLE GRAVE CREEK, W.Va. – Residents living near the Williams Energy Oak Grove plant construction site in Marshall County were awakened by an explosion Saturday morning. A 12-inch natural gas line running near the plant ruptured at just after 8 a.m.

“It was a very loud explosion. I got up and looked out the window. It sounded like a plane, like a jet engine liner was going over the top of my house,” Fork Ridge Road resident Roger Dobbs told MetroNews Saturday. “I looked out the back window and you could see the smoke flying high in the sky and the flames going up.”

The site is about a mile from Dobbs’ home. The line is owned by a subsidiary of Williams, LP and carries unprocessed natural gas from production wells according to a statement from the company.

Emergency officials initially believed the rupture may have been caused by a mudslide. The line was isolated and the fire was brought under control with an hour of the blast. There were no injuries. Residents living along Middle Grave Creek and Waymans Ridge were asked to evacuate their homes. Fire stations in Glen Dale and Cameron were opened as shelters.

Dobbs said there has been a lot of rain in recent days but something else may have contributed to the rupture.

“There’s a lot of subsidence here. A lot of mining went on in this area, longwalling,” he said.

The Oak Grove plant has been under construction for several months. That’s the same location where a 510,000 pound, 41-yard-long de-ethanizer was transported last week. The superload stalled traffic during its transport. Williams Energy will eventually refine ethane from natural gas coming out of the Marcellus and Utica shales at the plant.

The Marshall County economy has benefited from the Marcellus shale play but Dobbs admits it comes with a cost.

“It’s very stressful and then have stuff like this in your backyard going on,” he said. “I don’t know what the chemicals are that burned off. What’s in the air? Is that going to bother us? I don’t know.”

Dobbs said he was thankful there were no injuries. He said it will be a sound he never forgets.

“It was just a loud thrust—amazing,” he said.

Williams Energy said the fire caused no damage to third-party property. The company did begin to drain a 4-inch natural gas liquids pipeline in the same right of way as a precautionary measure. Company officials praised Marshall County first responders for their work at the scene.
