The land was divided, with the risk of what might happen a new land slide, so the locals prefer not take place at the place in front of the fear not to be buried alive.

Abraham Zamora, one of the local residents, has told, that he heard the roar in 04:00. "A strong explosion made shake the house of the village. The roar was accompanied by a violent shaking, the earth shook for several minutes and all afraid, we have left their homes to find out what is happening, " - told Zamora, still frightened by the incident. Fortunately, the familes live in 150 meters from the place of incident and they did not affect the land sinking.

Floods Kill Seven People
20 de enero de 2012, 17:21 Quito, Jan 20 (Prensa Latina) At least seven people died and two bridges were damaged in the past few hours in Ecuador because of floods caused by heavy rains.

ECTV Channel (Ecuador Television) reported that the behavior of rainfalls is around normal rates for the current winter season; however, the current situation is due to terrible drainage systems existing in the worst-hit areas.

Esmeraldas is the worst-hit province by the storm, with more than one thousand victims, followed by Pastaza, with 64 cases, Cañar, with 75, and in Azuay 22.

The forecasts indicate that rains will intensify in at least six places in Ecuador, mainly in the so-called risk areas.

The Risk Management Secretariat said that at least five million people live in unsafe places in this country, so the situation might worsen if local authorities lack a rapid, proper response capacity.
