Dominican Republic: Sinking land in Santo Domingo union increases

On Monday the inhabitants of the sector one of the cooperative Santa Martha took fright when they realized that land subsidence is eating the street quickly.  

The collapse of land occurred early Sunday.

A committee of four people affected, went to the provincial leadership of the National Secretariat for Risk Management. Walter Molina, coach of the institution, said the problem is that the crating Pove River passing under this sector has collapsed.   "A structure of this type has a lifespan of 20 years, ie it does not last forever," he said.   The official said they have notified the municipality as executing agency, about the problem, for technical assessment and remediation respectively.
