Protesters rally nationwide against Trump at ‘No Kings’ events

Thousands of “No Kings” rallies kicked off nationwide on Saturday against President Trump and his policies.

Defiant Democrats have embraced this weekend’s protests, while GOP lawmakers bash the protests as “hate America” demonstrations.  “Showing up to express dissent against an out-of-control administration, that’s as American as motherhood, baseball and apple pie,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said Friday.

Saturday’s protests follow a series of June marches that coincided with the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary military parade in Washington, D.C., which also happened to be Trump’s 79th birthday.

The rallies are taking place amidst the government shutdown as well federal troop deployments across the country.

Insurrection 2025

The Insurrection Act of 1807 has suddenly popped into the news again. It is a quick way to get into Martial Law, and has been in the news a number of times in the past few years. Let’s revisit the issues and see if this time, in 2025, will be different. The Insurrection Act or 1807 was frequently mentioned then the 2020 election was stolen from President Trump, and again in 2021 when the National Guard was called up for January 6 unrest in Washington DC. Now we have the National Guard in a number of cities. Are we poised for Martial Law again?

Greece Strikes Mean Airport Closures and Travel Delays

Greek Strikes Mean Airport Closures and Travel Delays

Associated Press

Those trying to travel to and from Greece will find their plans hampered, thanks two days of strikes that began Tuesday by a Greek trade union.

The anti-austerity strikes are meant to protest the passage of a controversial economic package, and will involve a 48-hour walkout by public sector workers, reports the Financial Times.

That means banks, government offices, public transport, ferry services and, of course, trains and planes will be affected.

Planes will effectively be grounded for the two-day manifestation, due to air traffic controllers working only for four hours in the morning and four hours in the evenings, reports the Daily Mail.

The Port of Piraeus, the major ferry hub out of Athens, will be shut down. Though, according to some reports, other ports may be functioning.

Greece has been struggling financially for some time, as its economy has suffered acutely from the global downturn, and the country is in major national debt. On the bright side, when travel does start up again, it can mean budget deals for vacationers.

Dominicans Protest Tax Package

SANTO DOMINGO (PL) - The Broad Front for Popular Struggle (FALPO) planned to march Wednesday in San Francisco de Macoris, northeast of the Dominican capital, to protest a tax package being debated in Congress.

The evening march is part of a number of mobilizations and local strikes leading up to a general strike on July 11, according to the New Coordinating Committee of the People's Movement, a coalition that includes the FALPO.

A work stoppage is planned on July 4 in Navarrete, and a protest is planned in Castillo on Sunday, followed by a work stoppage on June 29.

In the capital, the Autoconvocados (Self-Organized) Movement was urging the formation of a Democratic Coalition to run candidates in the 2012 elections and to support protests against the tax package being discussed by Congress debates.

In a statement, the coalition also urged presidential hopefuls from alternative parties to unite in a common front to fight the traditional parties in the elections and on the streets.

@Gerard - I have just finished watching the last two posts of yours and am amazed.  To know something in your mind is coming and then to actually see what happens to people during these riots and the collective mindset ... to see with one's own eyes - quite an awakening as it brings it into reality and imprints upon one's heart - It did mine anyway.  The link entitled http://howestreet.com/2011/06/riots-mobs-coming-town/ (Riots and Mobs coming to a Town Near You) was hard to watch but a very impressive video.  I hope many more members click on this link to see and take heed.  Read the entire article.  It could save your life.  Thank you Gerard.  Stay safe.
