5/7/26 Nearly 500 homes damaged and inaccessible in several Mississippi counties following yesterday’s severe weather and tornado outbreak, at least 17 injuries. This evolved by 2005 into a looping jet stream, loops breaking away and turning like a tornado to affect the air masses underneath. Meanwhile, on Planet Earth, droughts had become more intractable and deluges positively frightening, temperature swings bringing snow in summer in the tropics and searing heat in Arctic regions, with the violence of storms increasing in number and ferocity."

ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE: SR-153 through Beaver Canyon is closed indefinitely after Sunday's flash flooding and debris flows washed out multiple sections of the highway.

According to UDOT, the most severe damage is between mileposts 7.5 and 10.5, where parts of the road were completely destroyed. Near milepost 14, floodwaters washed away about half of the highway.
