Building Collapse in Manchester, UK
October 17, 2025, a playground collapsed at Zijiang School in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, fortunately no casualties were reported. The Zijiang School playground collapse emergency response headquarters announced on Saturday that they have begun an investigation to the cause.
The emergency response headquarters confirmed that the west wall and some playgrounds of the campus of the school collapsed, and the corners of the west side of the Boxue Building (teaching building) were damaged.

Dozens of residents displaced after partial roof collapse at Bloomfield apartment building

Friday, March 6, 2026 10:16PMIt happened at a multi-unit apartment building located at 27 Park Pl. in Bloomfield.
Officials say the collapse occurred at the northeast corner of the roof due to water damage, which impacted one apartment directly.
They say significant water leakage spread throughout multiple units, prompting an evacuation of the building.
The Bloomfield Building Department has deemed the building, which contains 27 residential units, "uninhabitable."
Fortunately, officials say not all tenants were home at the time of the incident, and only one person suffered injuries. That person was a tenant who reported back pain while evacuating. They were taken to Mountainside Hospital for evaluation. No other injuries were reported.
The scene has since been secured by police and fire personnel, and efforts are underway to provide support for displaced residents, including temporary housing, clothing and assistance for residents with special needs.
Officials say a temporary shelter has been set up at the Bloomfield Civic Center.
"My heart goes out to every resident impacted by this incident," said Bloomfield Mayor Jenny Mundell."The Township has directed all available resources to the scene and I personally went to meet with residents to make sure their immediate needs were addressed."

Aleppo, Syria — A 5-story residential building collapsed on Friday in al-Ashrafiyah neighborhood of Aleppo, leaving residents trapped under the rubble.
SANA’s reporter in Aleppo said civil defense teams rushed to the scene to search for and rescue those affected. No information is available on the number of people inside the building at the time of the collapse.
Emergency services are working to clear debris and provide immediate assistance to residents in the surrounding area. The cause of the collapse has not been determined.

Lancaster, UK — Several roads have been closed in Lancaster city centre after the wall of a house partially collapsed on to a parked car.
The wall, on the side of the Kwik Fit car park on Thurnham Street, crushed a car on the car park on Thursday evening, Lancashire Police said.
No-one has been injured, but the surrounding roads have been closed while structural engineers assess the damage.

Belo Horizonte, Brazil — In the early hours of Thurs, Mar 5 at around 1:30 a.m. local time, the Casa de Repouso Pró-Vida nursing home in Belo Horizonte collapsed, trapping residents underneath the rubble.
12 people have died in the incident and an investigation is ongoing.
Authorities rescued 8 people, while 9 others escaped on their own. A total of 29 people were reportedly inside the building at the time of its collapse.
The collapsed building also housed a gym and a tanning salon. The cause of the collapse is yet to be confirmed, the outlet stated.
“What is striking is that it wasn’t raining at the time of the accident," the Undersecretary of Civil Protection and Defense of Belo Horizonte, Elcione Menezes Alves, said of the tragedy, per G1. "This is not a high-risk area. Historically, there are no records of incidents occurring here."

Châteauguay, QC - Canada — A bridge on Montreal’s South Shore was completely shut down for a few hours on Wednesday after part of it collapsed.
Eric Allard, the mayor of Châteauguay, Que., where the bridge is located, said no one was injured.
The Sauvagine Bridge crosses the Châteauguay River.
Early Wednesday evening, the Ministry of Transport, which is responsible for the bridge, said the westbound lane will remain closed indefinitely.
Meanwhile, the city has opened one lane in each direction in the eastbound lane after officials deemed it was safe for traffic.
Transport Quebec said inspectors are on site to assess the structure and that emergency repairs will begin Wednesday night.

GARLAND, Texas — In Garland, the roof of a warehouse in the 2900 block of W. Kingsley Road near Shiloh Road collapsed under the weight of heavy rain just before 5 p.m. Wednesday. A Garland FD spokesman said no one was hurt.

FLORESVILLE, Texas — The metal framework for the future Wilson County Expo Arena, under construction on S.H. 97 next to the Wilson County Expo and Community Center in Floresville, has collapsed.
Shortly after the collapse just before 3 p.m. March 4, Wilson County Judge Hank Whitman arrived at the site to assess the situation.
Work on the structure had been underway with the metal framework largely in place earlier in the day.
According to witnesses at the scene, there were no injuries reported.
Work was suspended at the site.

YONKERS, New York, 03.04.26 — Earlier today around 11:35 AM, crews responded to reports of a wall collapse at the corner of Landscape Ave and Caryl Ave in SW Yonkers.
A large section of wall (approx. 40’ x 10’) fell onto a parked vehicle. The driver was inside at the time but was able to safely exit the vehicle before units arrived.
First responders provided immediate medical care and secured the area while searching for additional victims and assessing structural stability.
The individual was transported with non-life-threatening injuries. Yonkers FD and Yonkers PD remain on scene as the investigation continues, along with the Yonkers Building Dept.

Johannesburg South, South Africa — The first-floor concrete slab in a 2-storey building at Amethyst Business Park collapsed earlier today.
According to preliminary reports, the concrete slab dividing the structure into 2 storeys caved in and collapsed, leading to significant structural failure.
One person has been rushed to the hospital, and the 2 individuals remain trapped, with rescue teams working urgently to extricate them.4 people are reported to have tragically died at the scene. 5 individuals are currently missing, and search and rescue operations are actively underway.
The cause of the collapse remains undetermined.
