What happens to rock layers under a diagonal pull, or being pulled apart? As can be seen during recent years, this has resulted in derailing trains, sinkholes suddenly appearing, gas and water main breaks, torn roadways and separating bridges. Despite the effect on man, crawling about on the surface of what they assume to be terra firma, these changes are superficial. When the pulling starts, weak points break and thereafter the plumbing and roadways hold, giving the impression that the pulling has stopped, but this is misleading. The North American continent is giving evidence that its rock layers are separating from each other, and sliding sideways in a diagonal, thus exposing portions of these layers to vent into the air above. If rock is being stressed, then where are the earthquake predictors giving evidence of this, the frantic animals, the static on the radio, the earthquake swarms? Rock in the stretch zone, pulling apart rather than compressing, does not emit the particles flows that animals and radios sense, nor register on instruments are tension and release quakes.

Underground water flows eat away the limestone leaving vast caverns and caves, which often give scant indication above ground that a cavern lies below. Karst limestone rock formations have been mapped and are known, however, but since one never knows just where a cavern might have formed, this provides little help in predicting just where a sinkhole might form. Sinkholes open up when the rock is fractured due to stress from being in the stretch zone, from the bending of a plate, or due to torsion."

ASHLEY, Pennsylvania — A sinkhole partially under Luzerne County’s rail line in Ashley is expected to temporarily suspend train traffic, county Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Margaret Thomas said Tuesday.
Thomas said the authority, which owns the rail line and land containing the sinkhole, was informed of the discovery Saturday.
This stretch of line services the Hanover Industrial Park, she said.
The authority was awaiting a determination from the Pennsylvania DEP on the cause of the sinkhole and how it must be addressed, Thomas said.
Thomas said she was informed the Ashley hole was estimated to be at least 30’ deep.
A DEP spokesperson said Tuesday evening the department’s Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation has concluded the hole is not mine-related.

DALLAS, Texas — A deep sinkhole has closed part of a popular White Rock Lake trail as the city monitors whether rain will worsen the collapse.
The sinkhole, located between Lawther Dr and Garland Rd, is estimated to be at least 14 feet deep.
The city has blocked off the area while crews assess the damage.

PARKERSBURG, West Virginia — A sinkhole opened Tuesday in downtown Parkersburg near the corner of Fifth and Market St, exposing old wood and metal structures beneath the surface.
The hole appeared in the lot of a vacant building next to the historic Smoot Theatre.
It was not immediately clear what caused the ground to give way or whether the materials exposed under the surface were part of an old structure or previous infrastructure.

INDEPENDENCE, Virginia — A sinkhole opened up in the parking lot of the Independence Food City bw Thurs night and Fri morning (March 4-5) but is already being worked on, said a statement released by the store’s parent company, K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc.
Witnesses and social media commenters said they’d seen the pavement in that area sagging late Thurs afternoon, beginning to fall in closer to closing time. It was blocked off at this time.
By opening the next morning, a large, deep sinkhole had appeared.
“There was no prior indication of a problem at the location,” said K-VA-T’s official statement.
An engineer was reportedly on-site Fri, inspecting the sinkhole.

Norwich, UK
A sinkhole was spotted in Carrow Hill, Norwich, over the weekend and is the same width as the pavement.
The residential road has been closed to traffic, and a diversion has been put in place.
Norfolk County Council said: "Site investigations are currently ongoing and the closure will stay in place until all necessary repairs have been completed."

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland Police are on the scene of a large sinkhole in downtown that nearly swallowed a car.
On Sunday morning, around 9 a.m., officers were on the scene of West St. Clair Avenue and West 3rd Street for a sinkhole. The car was removed by a tow truck. A woman helped the driver safely exit the car.
It is known by man that the New Madrid Fault line runs beyond the immediate area of New Madrid. When we stated that "Chicago will rupture and adjust" and "Ohio will be pulled in places" this should not be news to man. The New Madrid runs up along the Seaway, to the mouth of the Seaway, and thus will rupture any land it passes through. Plot its course and consider that more than the fault line itself will be disrupted. Rock detached from its former connections is free to react to the dominant theme in the area. If rock was held down, formerly, it can bounce up. If rock was held back, it is free to spring forward. And adjustment in rock strata means that loose soil will sink or heave. This most certainly can affect a broader area than just the fault line. We have stated that Ohio will be affected most in this regard. These matters are related to the rock strata, which bonds or breaks, as we have stated. There is a natural break in the rock strata holding Ohio, along the Ohio River and into its headwaters, as can be seen. Why should Chicago be affected? There is a natural break in the rock strata between the New Madrid and Chicago also, a weakness, which will rupture with the New Madrid. When the Seaway pulls apart there will be a drop in support formerly present during rock attachments. Chicago has long been predicted, by ourselves and others, to be devastated. Much of the infrastructure will rupture, causing buildings to crumble and freeways to be worthless and irreparable. One need only follow the geology of the region, to predict what will happen.

Ioannina, Greece
A pothole that completely destroyed an entire vehicle belonging to the municipality of Ioannina opened up in Ioannina, fortunately without injuring the driver.
This is a cleaning vehicle that suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth as it sank into a huge hole that opened in the middle of the road for a reason that is currently unknown.
As reported by epirus-tv-news.gr, the responsible deputy mayor of the Municipality of Ioannina and the Traffic Police were at the scene immediately after the accident.

GASTONIA, North Carolina — A sinkhole swallowed a truck overnight near the intersection of Airline and Brown, officials said.
No injuries were reported. The driver was not in the truck when it sank, Gastonia Police said.
A spokesperson with GPD said the driver got stuck in a pothole at the location the night before. When he returned, he found his truck had been swallowed by a sinkhole.

Sydney, Australia — A burst water pipe is thought to have created a large sinkhole at the intersection of Prince Albert Road and St Mary’s Road, next to St Mary’s Cathedral and Hyde Park.
The front wheels of a Coles delivery truck fell into the hole on Friday morning at about 7am, prompting an urgent rescue effort from at least 2 towing trucks.
