October 17, 2025, a playground collapsed at Zijiang School in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, fortunately no casualties were reported. The Zijiang School playground collapse emergency response headquarters announced on Saturday that they have begun an investigation to the cause.

The emergency response headquarters confirmed that the west wall and some playgrounds of the campus of the school collapsed, and the corners of the west side of the Boxue Building (teaching building) were damaged.

Downtown Benton building collapses, multiple others damaged

BENTON, Ark. – A building collapsed in downtown Benton on Wednesday afternoon, damaging multiple others in the process.

Officials said the building that collapsed was CJ’z Downtown Billiards, which was scheduled to open at 5 p.m. Three other buildings were damaged in the front as a result of the collapse.

Officials said the building collapsed around 2:27 p.m.

Search and rescue crews are currently trying to navigate through the site of the collapse, including crews from Pulaski County. Officials said they are currently trying to get the power shut off.

CJ’z Downtown Billiards shared a post after the incident.

“Everyone is ok & thats whats important. We haven't made it there yet, but on the way (thanks PG!),” the business wrote on Facebook. “Please let us get things handled. Our phones are blowing up & we have stuff to take care of. We appreciate you all checking in so this post is to tell you we are ok. Will update soon… love yall!!!”

Three of the four total affected buildings had tenants, but officials have not released whether anyone was in the buildings.

CATONSVILLE, Md. —

A roof partially collapsed Wednesday afternoon at a store in Catonsville, according to Baltimore County fire officials.

County fire officials told WBAL-TV 11 News that crews were called around 1:30 p.m. to The RoomStyle Furniture and Mattress store in the 6600 block of Baltimore-National Pike in Catonsville, where the roof partially collapsed.

SKY 11 video showed the collapse into the building, which was unoccupied at the time.

No injuries were reported.

Officials did not immediately confirm a cause of the collapse. SKY 11 video showed a considerable amount of snow on the structure.

Nairobi, Kenya

A roadside billboard collapsed along Ngong Road in the early hours of Sunday, trapping motorists and forcing an emergency response by county and national agencies.

The incident occurred at around 2:00 am, according to a statement by Geoffrey Mosiria, Nairobi’s Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement, who said he came across the scene while passing along the busy corridor.

Mosiria said the fallen billboard had pinned an Uber vehicle, with the driver and a passenger trapped underneath.

He alerted the Nairobi County Emergency Response Team, prompting the deployment of traffic police and an ambulance.
Both victims were evacuated from the scene and taken to hospital.

Their condition was not immediately disclosed.

FDNY responds to partial building collapse in the Bronx

Bronx, NY – The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) responded Monday afternoon to a partial building collapse at 57 East Burnside Avenue in the Bronx. Officials confirmed that there were no serious injuries.

According to FDNY Battalion Chief Christopher Ganci, crews from Engine 75 and Ladder 33 arrived to find that an approximately 150-foot section of wall had collapsed during ongoing demolition work. The debris fell onto a sidewalk shed in front of the structure.

Emergency responders immediately conducted a search of the area with assistance from rescue and squad companies to ensure no one had been trapped beneath the debris. “After a search by the rescue, squad, and the units on scene, it was determined that there were no victims. No personnel were missing from the site,” Chief Ganci said.

FDNY responds to partial building collapse in the Bronx

Firefighters secured the area and confirmed that the remaining portions of the building were stable before turning the scene over to the New York City Department of Buildings and the Office of Emergency Management for further inspection and investigation.

Authorities said that while the collapse caused significant property damage, the sidewalk shed likely prevented more serious injuries by catching much of the falling debris. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation by city officials.

Duque de Caxias, Brazil — A house collapse in Duque de Caxias left a child dead and 2 other people injured in the early hours of Saturday (24).

The occurrence was recorded in a residential building on Urussaí St, in the Saracuruna neighborhood, in Baixada Fluminense.

According to the Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ), the activation occurred around 2:40 am, after the collapse of the slab of the property. 3 people were buried in the rubble.

The teams managed to rescue a man, a woman and a dog alive. The victims were referred to the Adão Pereira Nunes Municipal Hospital. A child was located in the rubble already dead.

Tripoli, Lebanon — The city of Tripoli in northern Lebanon witnessed the collapse of a 5-story residential building in the Al-Qobbeh area – Al-Jadeed Street early this Saturday morning, resulting in several residents being trapped under the rubble, amid a wide state of alert for rescue teams.

The Lebanese Civil Defense teams managed to rescue a girl who was trapped under the debris, and she was immediately transported to the hospital, where medical authorities reported that her condition is stable.

The Lebanese Red Cross stated in an official statement that all those trapped who have been reached so far are alive, confirming that efforts are ongoing to reach any other trapped individuals.

No serious injuries after oil rig topples over on Alaska’s North Slope

A massive oil drilling rig toppled over on the tundra of Alaska’s North Slope as it was moving Friday afternoon, authorities said.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A massive oil drilling rig toppled over on the tundra of Alaska’s North Slope as it was moving Friday afternoon, authorities said.

No serious injuries were reported on Doyon 26, the name of the rig involved.

A small fire erupted on the rig, operating on behalf of ConocoPhillips Alaska, according to company officials, who said it was “traveling on an ice road” when it fell over around 4:45 p.m. Friday.

ConocoPhillips reported that the fire is contained and controlled.

There was no word on the cause of the incident from ConocoPhillips or Gov. Mike Dunleavy, who confirmed the incident on his Facebook page.

“There was a small fire, but so far appears to be minimal damage to the environment and no impact to oil infrastructure or facilities,” Dunleavy stated. “They are responding with a team, working on plans to recover the rig, and we will know more as they assess.”

ConocoPhillips said that all personnel in the area had been accounted for and there were no serious injuries.

“There was no damage to local community infrastructure and no impact to pipelines or fuel transportation. Emergency response personnel remain on site,” ConocoPhillips officials said. “We will provide additional details as they are available.”

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation said late Friday that it is aware of the incident and is actively monitoring the situation. In a statement, the agency said its staff is in direct contact with “company officials” to oversee containment efforts and ensure regulatory requirements are followed.

Video circulating online show what appears to be a rig toppling over on icy and snowy ground. The structure’s lights go dark moments before impacting the ground. Alaska’s News Source has not verified the authenticity of the video.

Rig 26, owned by Doyon Drilling Inc., runs on diesel and natural gas, according to the company website, and has the capacity to drill on any developed drill site on the North Slope.

Rig 26 was described by ConocoPhillips in a 2022 press release as the largest mobile land drilling rig in North America, capable of drilling wells more than 40,000 feet in length.

According to ConocoPhillips, the rig’s extended reach capabilities allowed operators to access as much as 154 square miles of reservoir from a single drilling pad.

Rep. Elexie Moore, R-Wasilla, posted on her official Facebook page that Rig 26 is “one of the largest rigs in North America” after saying she visited it last summer.

Three workers injured in structure collapse in Gallia County

GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WOWK) – Three workers were injured after a building under construction collapsed in Gallia County.

According to Rio Grande Police Chief Keith Davies, the incident happened around 11:20 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of Pleasant Valley Road near Vinton and Rio Grande. He says the three workers were on the roof of a commercial building being built on the site at the time of the collapse.

Davies says one of the workers was flown from the scene for medical treatment, but all of the workers’ injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The police chief said all three were responsive and talking at the scene.

While a cause has not been determined, Davies says he suspects the wind may have played a factor in the collapse.

Davies says along with the Rio Grande PD, the Rio Grande and Spring Field Volunteer Fire Departments, the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office and Mason County, W.Va., EMS responded to the scene.

Several buildings, cars engulfed in flames in Yonkers fire

YONKERS, New York (WABC) -- Several buildings and cars lit up in flames on Friday night in Yonkers as smoke blanketed the air.

The fire started around 7 p.m. on School Street. It was all-hands-on-deck with every Yonkers firefighter on the scene as well as mutual aid brought in from neighboring departments to try to get flames under control.

When firefighters first arrived on scene, there was a partial collapse that set cars on fire and ripped down charged power lines. One building completely collapsed.

Mother Nature was not doing firefighters any favors - the ground was frozen and slippery and firefighters' gear became frozen.

Two buildings fully engulfed in flames and then reached a third and fourth building.

Fire Commissioner William Fitzpatrick described some of the danger that firefighters encountered while battling the raging inferno.

"As the building collapsed into the street almost simultaneously as the first arriving units were pulling up, they were confronted with one building fully involved collapsed, set a couple cars on fire, it was downed power lines, so it did hamper the initial efforts to getting into the building because of downed power lines," Fitzpatrick said.

No injuries were reported. It is still unclear how many residents this is impacting, but officials estimate roughly 30-50 people may be displaced.

OEM is setting up a shelter for Friday night at the Cesar Chavez School and the Red Cross is assisting.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Ikorodu, Nigeria — A classroom block in Odokekere High School, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, has collapsed. 

The building caved in on Thursday during school hours. Eyewitnesses said there was no casualty, as the students were hurriedly evacuated before the structure gave way.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Lagos special committee on rehabilitation of public schools (SCRPS) claimed that the block had been marked for demolition before the incident.
