Mysterious lights over Hawai'i: UFO or space junk?
Social media lit up over the weekendMonday, October 26th 2020, 6:20 AMMysterious lights flying across the night sky over the weekend baffled Hawaii residents.
While social media was abuzz with speculation of UFOs, scientists think they know what’s responsible.
Kuuipo Kanawaliwali captured video of the lights as they passed under the moon on Saturday night.
“I started videotaping and when they got closer,” Kanawaliwali told KHON, “I start freaking out because I’m like, ‘Oh, what in the world is this?’”
Sheri English also captured video of the lights as they sailed overhead.
“We didn’t know what it was, where it came from,” English told KHON. “It just appeared. It was actually (a) very eerie, eerie feeling.”
John O’Meara, the chief scientist at W.M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii, says the lights were from a Chinese rocket booster used to launch a Venezuelan communications satellite in 2008, Maui Now reported.
“That booster has been orbiting around the Earth, but its orbit has been decaying and eventually decayed enough to get slowed down by the atmosphere and reentered in over the Pacific,” O’Meara told the news outlet. “Space junk falls in all the time. Usually it doesn’t make such a great light show, but in this case we were lucky.”

Pentagon Reportedly Establishes Investigative UFO Task Force

In June, US President Donald Trump teased that he might declassify some "very interesting" information regarding a UFO-related incident in Roswell, Nevada, that took place in 1974. Now, reports of aliens might be examined more closely, as the Pentagon is reportedly stepping into the investigation.
The Pentagon will set a task force to investigate UFO sightings spotted by US military aircraft, CNN reported, citing unnamed defence sources.
According to the report, David Norquist, the Deputy Secretary of Defence, will head a newly-established task force set to be officially announced in the next few days.
The reported initiative is thought to have emerged particularly due to the release of three short videos by the Pentagon earlier in April, showing what it described as "unidentified aerial phenomena". In June, a committee was established by the Pentagon to analyse these encounters.
"We have things flying over our military bases and places where we are conducting military exercises, and we don't know what it is and it isn't ours, so that's a legitimate question to ask," said GOP Senator Marco Rubio, who chaired this committee.
The three videos, released in April, showed encounters with "unidentified aerial phenomena" that took place in 2004 and 2017.
Earlier in 2007, a program to study recordings of observations of unknown aerial objects was launched at the behest of former Democratic Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, but ended in 2012 because "higher priorities" required available funding.
As of today, the Pentagon is reportedly returning to the idea of investigating UFO sightings. US President Donald Trump teased in June that he might know some "very interesting" facts about one of the most intriguing supposedly-alien incidents, which occurred in Roswell in the early 1970s.
Noting that "a lot of people would like to know what's going on", Trump hinted that he may declassify Roswell-related information but did not offer specifics.

UFO Indian Lake Ohio Saturday (7/18/2020) at 11:15 pm near Indian lake Ohio we observed this traveling from west to east just to the south of our location. The camera really doesn't show the bluish tint it had. There was no sound from it. Checked flight radar and there were no aircraft in our area at the time.

In one of the first ever bizarre sightings from Ireland, an orange coloured flash of light appeared in the otherwise cloudy sky. The orange coloured dot looked like it was smeared across the canvas of the cloud covered sky and the unidentified object that was emanating this orange light showed uncanny resemblance to the sun. Earlier many viewers thought that it was the video of the Sun trying to make its presence felt from behind the blanket of clouds. But when the object, perhaps a UFO, started twinkling and blinking, the theory that it was the Sun was refuted immediately (because Sun never twinkles or blinks) and the appearance of the object was related to a mystical presence. Some of the spectators theorised that maybe the UFO was stuck in between the dark sheets of black clouds and had to turn on its lights so as to navigate its way through them. Still the evidence is only circumstantial and nothing could be said with certainty.

Pentagon officially releases 3 UFO videos
The Department of Defense authorized the release of three unclassified Navy videos from 2004 and 2015 showing “unidentified aerial phenomena” on April 27, 2020.
April 27, 2020The Pentagon authorized the release of three new videos containing footage of “unidentified aerial phenomena” on Monday.
In a statement, the Pentagon said that after a review of the three videos, it determined that the videos do not “reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems, and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena.” In one video, a U.S. Navy pilot exclaims there is a “whole fleet” of the unidentified objects.
The videos were made available by a U.S. Navy freedom of information website. There is one video from a November 2004 event and two videos from a January 2015 event. The videos have been circulating since 2007 and 2017 respectively, as a result of unauthorized releases.
The Pentagon said it released the footage to “clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos.”
“The aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as ‘unidentified,'” the Pentagon press statement added.
The U.S. Navy previously raised concerns about the 2004 footage, claiming its release could cause “grave damage” to U.S. national security. The footage was previously obtained and published by former Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge at his company “To the Stars Academy.”
The footage from the 2004 incident was previously reported on by the New York Times and appears to show an oblong 40 foot object hovering about 50 feet above the water, which U.S. Navy pilots said quickly ascended and flew away when they attempted to approach.
“It accelerated like nothing I’ve ever seen,” one of the pilots told the Times.
The 2015 footage shows various 2013 incidents, in which multiple other flying objects are observed. The first 2015 shows an object speeding across the ocean at high speeds, prompting one pilot to ask “What the fuck is that?”
In the second 2015 video, one of the pilots says “Dude, this is a fucking drone, bro.”
Another pilot says, “there’s a whole fleet of them.”
The first pilot also noted that the objects are flying against the wind, which he said was going “120 knots to the west.”
