Spain Experiences its Worst Train Accident in 40 Years

An increase in train derailments was one of the first symptoms of the approach of Planet X to become noticeable, being expressed even before Planet X entered the inner solar system in 2003.

Planet X was described as affecting the Earth from afar, like tugging on the edge of a spider web where the effects are felt elsewhere on the web; in this way there has been an increase in earthquakes and unpredictable weather going back years, even before Planet X entered the solar system, due to the increased swirling of the Earth’s core.

It is therefore logical that an increase in train derailments would accompany any increase in seismic activity – train tracks need to be straight and even the slightest shift to the side of a section of track would cause a train to derail.

The area most affected by train derailments is the stretch zone.  Stretch zone quakes are silent, and people are generally unaware anything is happening, although signs such as booms and trumpet sounds can occur.

This zone stretches from Western Europe across the Eurasian Plate, and also includes the South-East United States, the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Red Sea and the African Rift.

In other parts of the world, shifting ground is more associated with earthquakes that people are aware of, such as the Pacific which is compressing, so authorities inspect railway tracks after any seismic activity, reducing the likelihood of accidents.

Q Train Collision Causes Straphanger Nightmare 

Astoria straphangers faced a nightmarish early-morning commute on November 1afteraQtrainstruckthebumperatthe Ditmars Boulevard station, transit officials said.

The collision occurred at about 7:49 a.m., sending hundreds of straphangers scrambling for safety at the Astoria station.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the incident, said Charles Seaton, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Following the collision, transit workers draped red tape blocking the entrance to the Ditmars Boulevard station, Seaton said. Service was suspended on both the N and Q lines between Ditmars Boulevard and Queens Plaza following the collision.

Commuters stymied by the service interruption headed to nearby M60 Manhattan-bound buses, only to find the buses filled to capacity, law enforcement sources said. A mad rush ensued, with commuters trying to board the packed buses.

Transit workers tried to keep order, turning away most of the harried commuters – some of whom headed to the street, scrambling to hail cabs.

Shuttle buses were brought to the subway entrance at about 8 a.m. to accommodate stranded straphangers.

The two trains involved in the crash were determined fully functional at about 1 p.m. and service was restored by 1:10 p.m., Seaton said.

There were no reported injuries in the collision or the resulting chaos.

Madras, Nov. 9: The driver and two firemen were killed and nine passengers sustained injuries when the engine, two parcel vans and a third class coach of the Madras-Bombay Janata Express derailed and capsized at 2.34 this morning at Kosgi railway station, about 26 miles from Raichur, on the Guntakal-Raichur Section of the Southern Railway.

Of the injured, four were Railway employees. A press note issued by the Southern Railway said that the injuries sustained by the passengers were all of a minor nature and that the passengers had left for their destinations after medical attention. The four railway employees who also sustained injuries, were given medical attention at the Railway hospital, Guntakal by the chief medical officer of the Southern Railway.

According to official information available here, the accident occurred while the train was being received at Kosgi station. It entered a sand hump, resulting in the derailment and capsizing of the engine and three adjacent bogies. The Press note said there was no interruption to through running as a result of the accident that the train left on its onward journey (to Bombay) at 8.30 am after a delay of six hours.

The divisional superintendent, Guntakal, rushed to the accident spot to organise relief operations, the Press note said. Mr P.K.M. Menon, chief medical officer of the Railway, also left for the scene of the accident by road. First aid to the injured passengers was rendered by local doctors at Kosgi. Medical assistance was also rushed from Adoni as well as Gooty. The Additional Commissioner of Railway Safety, Bangalore, will hold an enquiry into the cause of the accident at Kosgi station at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

Derailment near Big Pasco spills methanol

Damaged and leaking railroad tankers are scattered along the tracks Monday afternoon in a switching yard in the Big Pasco Industrial Park near Sacajawea Park Road. Forty-six BNSF Railway cars broke loose at the Pasco train hump yard and rolled into 31 cars and two engines earlier in the morning. Fire officials were concerned about a leaking tanker carrying methanol. No one was injured in the collision.

A half-mile-long runaway freight train with 46 freight cars uncoupled and rolled backward a couple of miles early Monday, ramming into an oncoming freight train near Big Pasco.

The 3:40 a.m. accident derailed two locomotives hooked in tandem on the second train that was pulling 31 freight cars and caused a tanker car to spill about 10,000 gallons of methanol.

No one was hurt in the crash, which derailed or overturned 10 cars, said Gus Melonas, BNSF Co. spokesman. The crash was on BNSF property, just north of Port of Pasco property.

Three railroad workers in the cab of the locomotive that took the brunt of the collision from the runaway cars managed to scramble away unharmed because other railroad employees radioed ahead to the cab crew to flee to safety.

Melonas said a faulty coupler is suspected of breaking loose on an 80-car train as it headed north toward the hump yard near Fourth Avenue north of downtown Pasco. It's not clear how fast the runaway cars were going.

It is about five miles between the hump yard and where the crash happened just west of East Road 40 at the far east end of Big Pasco. Melonas said exactly where the train separated is being investigated.

Chief Les Litzenberger with Franklin Fire District 3 said early reports indicated the train broke free about halfway between Big Pasco and the hump yard. That would be close to where the tracks cross Lewis Street.

Melonas said the two locomotives on the second train stayed upright, but the first three tanker cars behind them were knocked off the tracks and onto their sides, scattering their wheels and axles.

Liquid methanol began leaking from one of the 30,000-gallon cars, while the two others containing calcium chloride did not spill.

Seven other cars in the runaway train also left the tracks. Two contained corn syrup, two held ammonium nitrate in pellet form and two were carrying paper. One other car was empty, Melonas said.

ALGIERS, Nov 8 (KUNA) -- A freight train derailed Tuesday in Guelma, 510 km to eastern Algiers, a police source said.
No casualties were reported, but 560 tons of phosphate and seven carriages were damaged in the train accident, the sourced added.

Tasmania's state-owned rail operator has apologised to customers for another derailment.

The north-south line is again out of action after yesterday's derailment on a straight section near Campbell Town in the Northern Midlands.

Twenty wagons from the back of the train came off the tracks just after 4pm.

The incident follows a derailment last Friday at Campania which closed the north-south line for about two days.

TasRail's chief executive, Damien White, regrets the effect on customers.

"So it's just there to remind us how poor the track condition still is."

"You know we've been doing a hell of a lot of work in the last 12 to 18 months but it does just remind us there's still a long way to go."

Services will not resume until late tomorrow or early Sunday.

A freight train derailed early Thursday just west of Bartlett, causing severe Metra delays.

A northbound Canadian National freight train derailed after 5 a.m. at the railroad connection shared with Milwaukee West Metra trains between Elgin and downtown, transit officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The train derailed on the border of Elgin and Bartlett at Lambert Lane and Spaulding Road, fire officials said. Helicopter footage from Sky 5 showed more than 18 cars overturned and hazmat crews on the scene and firefighters from surrounding communities battling an on-and-off blaze.

As of 7:40 a.m., the fire was struck and cleanup slowly began.

Metrolink's San Bernardino lines delayed as freight train derails

Metrolink trains in San Bernardino County were delayed Wednesday afternoon because of a freight train that derailed in Fontana, officials said.

Three Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad trains derailed but did not pose a hazard, said Tracey Martinez, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

Metrolink said in a Twitter message that the entire San Bernardino line was affected by the derailment and that passengers were being bused from the Rancho Cucamonga station.

"All trains will detrain and board from Rancho Cucamonga," Metrolink said.

Amtrak train derails in Palmer near Steaming Tenders Restaurant

PALMER- Police said an Amtrak train has derailed near Depot Street not far from the Steaming Tender Restaurant .

Police would not say what caused the derailment.

In an unrelated incident overnight, a train got stuck in Palmer with 48 people aboard, according to an Associated Press report.

Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham says the train from Chicago to Boston got stuck in Palmer about 10 p.m. Saturday. A rockslide caused by the snowstorm that slammed the Northeast was blocking the tracks.

Graham says the passengers had electricity and heat the whole time and got free food and drinks. Buses arrived about 11 a.m. Sunday to take them to destinations between Palmer and Boston. The Lakeshore Limited train had left Chicago on Friday.

The storm has forced Amtrak to suspend train service on several routes in the Northeast.

Train off track adds to concern

 

TASMANIA'S troubled rail network suffered another derailment last night.

TasRail said nine wagons derailed from the back end of a freight train that was travelling on the North-South line about 5.30pm.

The train was heading north when it was derailed near Campania.

TasRail said there was little damage to the freight consignment because all wagons derailed in an upright position. No one was injured in the incident.

The rest of the train was undamaged and was expected to continue its journey to Burnie last night with the remaining 15 wagons intact.

Six derailments have occurred since July last year.

TasRail said last night's derailment was the first for this financial year.

In 2006 10 wagons from a 35-wagon Burnie-Hobart train left the rails between Campania and Colebrook.

TasRail has notified customers about last night's incident and advised that there will be a delay to freight operations on the North-South Line.

TasRail crews will work throughout the weekend to recover the derailed wagons and to repair the track.

The line between Colebrook and Tea Tree is expected to remain closed until tomorrow evening.

The derailment was reported to the Rail Safety Regular, and will be subject to investigation.

Train Derailment Near Powhatan Dumps Coal

POWHATAN POINT - A bad section of rail caused several train cars loaded with coal to derail Wednesday night at the southern end of Powhatan Point.

Coal littered the Ohio River bank on Thursday after some of the derailed cars tipped and lost their loads.

A worker at the site who declined to give his name said the derailment happened about 7 p.m. Wednesday. Crews expected to have the section of track repaired late Thursday with plans to have rail traffic running again today.

The coal that was spilled was set to be removed and cleaned up.

Workers from Norfolk Southern Railroad, which transports coal for Murray Energy, were called to the scene shortly after the derailment. They were able to remove the cars from the track and worked during the night Wednesday and all day Thursday to repair the track.
