Flash Flooding Causes Dam to Break in Mobile County

(MOBILE COUNTY, Ala.)   Flash floods created some pretty dramatic scenes throughout Mobile County. Cars were submerged, homeowners were stranded and dams got busted down.

The man-made lake in the New Headwaters subdivision emptied when the spillway broke up, causing a deep hole about 120 feet long and 40 to 50 feet wide. The water washed down and swamped homeowners. Some had to be rescued.

"This reminds us a little bit of what the Hoover Dam kind of looks like, in a miniature scale. this is just amazing," said resident Bill Webb.

"I was hoping it wasn't going to happen. I've developed 50 lots here for Headwaters Subdivision, and hoping to sell lots. I don't need this!" said developer Mason Head.
