October 17, 2025, a playground collapsed at Zijiang School in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, fortunately no casualties were reported. The Zijiang School playground collapse emergency response headquarters announced on Saturday that they have begun an investigation to the cause.
The emergency response headquarters confirmed that the west wall and some playgrounds of the campus of the school collapsed, and the corners of the west side of the Boxue Building (teaching building) were damaged.

ALBIA, Iowa — A vacant former brewery in Albia partially collapsed on Sunday, causing fire crews to expand street closures as they monitor the situation and investigate the cause.
First responders told KCCI the east wall of the 2-story building suddenly collapsed into Princeton Alley around 11 a.m.
The building, located on Benton Avenue in the town square, has been vacant for over a year.
The Chamber of Commerce has been working to find a new tenant for the property, and the FD noted that the building was not known to have significant structural issues.
Surrounding buildings have been evacuated as a precaution, and no injuries have been reported.
Officials have not yet determined what caused the collapse.

Traffic is being diverted off of I-64 due to a huge hole opening up on a bridge.
Kenova Police Chief Bob Sullivan says that the eastbound lanes of I-64 near the Kenova exit (exit 1) are closed to traffic.
Traffic is being diverted off the interstate at Kenova, rerouted to Route 60 and then drivers can get back onto the interstate at the West Huntington exit (exit 6).
Sullivan says they had to close the highway due to a partial collapse of a bridge.

GLEN BURNIE, Maryland — A 10-story office building in Glen Burnie, MD was evacuated Thurs afternoon due to structural concerns.
The Anne Arundel Co FD said a floor partially shifted during construction of an underground parking garage.
The entire building at 7310 Ritchie Highway was evacuated, and fire officials said everyone made it out safely.
"There has been no collapse of the building.”
A fire captain told WJZ-TV on the scene that construction workers noticed rebar issues in the floor & called the FD.
Firefighters arrived to find structural issues in the construction zone & decided to evacuate the building.
A building inspector has been called to determine the integrity of the structure.

WINDSOR CO., Vermont
2 people sleeping inside a home along Route 106 in Reading escaped without injury when the house collapsed early Thurs morning.
Fire officials said it happened around 5 a.m.
Neighbors described the sound as similar to a tree splitting in half.
Reading Volunteer Fire and Rescue Chief Gary Vittum said crews have not yet been able to find a few lost pets or identify what caused the house to give way.

The 38-story commercial building at 235 East 42nd Street was cleared around 8:11 a.m. after construction workers spotted two faulty support beams bending and starting to give way on the 21st and 22nd floors, according to the NYPD and FDNY.
Fire officials said floors between the 21st and 26th floors were sagging from the pressure.
All construction workers made it out of the building safely and no injuries were reported.
