Building Collapse in Manchester, UK
October 17, 2025, a playground collapsed at Zijiang School in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, fortunately no casualties were reported. The Zijiang School playground collapse emergency response headquarters announced on Saturday that they have begun an investigation to the cause.
The emergency response headquarters confirmed that the west wall and some playgrounds of the campus of the school collapsed, and the corners of the west side of the Boxue Building (teaching building) were damaged.

Updated: 12:23 PM EDT Mar 31, 2026NEWBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. —A historic church in York County has been condemned after township officials deemed it unsafe following a partial collapse.
According to a recent release from Newberry Township, the old St. James Church was condemned because of unsafe conditions linked to excavation activity that may have compromised the integrity of the building.
The township said the property owner was notified of the unsafe conditions and given an opportunity to correct them, but the issues remain unresolved.
The building is unstable and has a large opening on one side, according to the release.
The zoning officer formally posted the property as unsafe and unfit for occupancy to prevent access and reduce the risk of injury.
Newberry Township said it will issue a formal notice to the property owner setting a deadline to either repair and secure the structure or proceed with demolition. If the owner does not comply, the township may take enforcement action under local ordinances, including possible demolition.
Township officials said they recognize the building's historical significance.
"While the Township had hoped the structure could be preserved, the current condition requires action to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public," Newberry Township Manager Aaron Schwartz said in the release.
According to available records cited in the release, the structure was built between 1856 and 1857 as a Union Lutheran Evangelical church and was part of the original Lewisberry circuit established in 1875.
It has also been known as Bald Hill and Parkville before becoming St. James, with services discontinued in 1957.

A six-story apartment building collapsed in central Tel Aviv on Wednesday afternoon, moderately injuring two people, one of whom was trapped under the rubble and eventually rescued by emergency response teams. Four apartments were severely damaged, with the upper floors taking the brunt.
The exact cause of the collapse has not been determined, although an initial assessment indicated it was not the direct result of a missile impact.
The building was reportedly already in poor condition, and repeated shocks from missile shrapnel impacts in the area and rainy weather likely combined to take the building down.
A 63-year-old woman was evacuated in moderate condition, and a man in his 30s was also taken to the hospital after being rescued from the top floor of the building, having sustained significant injuries.

Hailin City, China — A full-scale rescue operation is currently underway in Hailin city, Heilongjiang province, after a building partially collapsed around midnight on Sunday, trapping 9 individuals, local authorities said.

Oldham, UK - 3 people have been injured after a building suddenly collapsed in a town centre.
Emergency crews rushed to King St in Oldham this afternoon after part of the structure gave way without warning.
5 people managed to scramble out of the building before firefighters arrived, it’s understood. 3 people suffered injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews were called at around 12.40pm.
The cause of the collapse is not yet known.

Springdale apartment evacuated after roof collapses
SPRINGDALE, Pa. —An apartment building in Springdale Borough, Allegheny County, had to be evacuated after a roof collapsed Monday afternoon.
Residents of the building on Butler Street were being told they can go back in to grab medications and a few things, then they are going to be put up in a hotel.
The collapse comes after storms brought heavy rain to western Pennsylvania over the weekend.However, a tenant whose apartment ceiling was leaking and collapsed told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 that he has been dealing with this for weeks.

Parking garage partially collapses next to southeast Denver office building
Denver firefighters searched through a parking garage that partially collapsed on Monday afternoon.
The garage is part of a two-story building with rooftop parking in the 3600 block of S. Yosemite Street and is located next to a 10-story multi-tenant office building. The fire department confirmed that the garage partially collapsed around 3:30 p.m.
Multiple cars were crushed in the collapse. It's a scary visual knowing it could have been worse; nobody was injured.
"Our neighbor came in and said, the garage just collapsed, you need to get out of here," said Joy Sims, who works for a nonprofit and is brand new to the building.
"We're in the process of moving to this building, and we had just unpacked our last box," she added.
Denver Fire believes a girder (a concrete support bean) gave way below, trapping around 20 vehicles underground and more than a dozen on the surface lot.
Now, Sims and dozens of others won't be able to access their cars for the foreseeable future. Sims had to call her husband for a ride home.
"They said that the building is structurally sound so we can come to work tomorrow, but we just can't get our cars to go home."
Crews will now work to fully assess and secure the area.
"They don't want anything vibrating down there to make the collapse worse."
Denver fire did their job responding to the emergency and making sure everyone was okay Now, the rest of the work is in the hands of the building's owner and whoever they decide to hire to remedy the situation.

An Uttar Pradesh District magistrate stated that 4 have died and 12 are injured after a cold storage collapse in Prayagraj on Monday.
The collapsed in the Phaphamau area triggering an ammonia gas leak, officials said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ganga Nagar) Kuldeep Gunawat said the structure suddenly caved in, trapping workers under the debris.
"All the injured workers have been rescued and admitted to hospital," he said.
Following the collapse, ammonia gas began leaking from the facility, prompting emergency response measures.
The fire brigade was working to contain the gas leak while teams from the district administration and police have also been deployed at the site
Officials said efforts were underway to secure the area and prevent further risk.
