Pond Farmers Harvest Early

Hundreds of hectares of ponds in Gresik regency flooded due Solo River overflowed

Hundreds GRESIK-acre pond located on the banks of Solo River in north Gresik regency began early harvested milkfish and shrimp although they are still two to three months old. The farmers claimed not to want to experience bigger losses like past years, because of the Solo River water levels can not be diperidiksi

"We're traumatized as in previous years. Diperediksi safe water was unexpected surge of water came suddenly flooded the ponds. If it's like that we are not the only loss is the result, that is sold out everything," said Nasihuddin (38), origin of fish farmers Village District Sedagaran Sidayu Gresik, Thursday (19 / 1)

Today, hundreds of acres of clear Nasihuddin nearest pond near the Solo River even though only two to three months there has been harvested to avoid greater losses.

"It's an attempt to minimize losses, rather than later we do not harvest at all will be more losers. For when the flood came suddenly shrimp and fish that have been aged three months would have disappeared flood carried away," he explained.

Expresses, the actual age of the fish or shrimp start earning at the age of three months as farmers harvested today. As a result farmers harvest ponds that reduce yield below normal.

"We are on the weight loss results of the pond. Estimated while an acre of our loss adjusters Rp10juta, while there are hundreds of acres of ponds our region. But that's not all early harvest," he said.

While farmers' paddy fields in the south claimed Gresik has been no loss of time associated floodwater Lamong child Solo River. "No farmers are losing money due to flooding until today. Because the height of the water unlike in previous years. But did not rule as in previous years suddenly we are immersed flooded rice fields overflow Lamong time, because of unpredictable rainfall," said Sampu (43) Village residents Sedapur Klagen, Thursday (19 / 1).

Sampu is said, his party and other farmers every night unable to sleep soundly. Because when the rainy season like now people are still ketar-ketir as rice and corn they planted three weeks ago has been exhausting and considerable cost.

"The weather in Gresik not be used as guidelines for flooding will occur or not. Because if upstream cura heavy rains flooded the region we can not be denied. I and other farmers every night of anxiety, because they can not memperediksi about when this flood coming," he explained .

Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Gresik Regency Ir Day Sucipto said it has not received reports of loss ponds assembled. "We do not get the fish farmers of data. If they harvest early means losing money not because of flooding, but because they do an early harvest, due to water conditions can not diperediksi," explains Day Sucipto, Thursday (19 / 1)

He said now there is no loss of farmers' fields, because the water that overflowed several times and menggenagi rice fields in the region just south of Gresik through it. So there is no any harm related to agricultural land of farmers fields.

"There are about 42 acres of agricultural land that was submerged for a moment. But no harm, because the water that overflowed dilahan agriculture, such as the sub region Benjeng, Peace and Balongpanggang it is only through direct and downs," he explained.

This morning's Day added, the water flow has decreased 16 centi-meter, while the 2.2-meter high tides, so safe. But if the Solo river water levels rise by 2.2 meters high tides then it could be said to be unsafe.

"Because the water that flows into the sea again, and the possibility if this happens then the area that will be submerged Shaman District. Thank God this morning water down precisely, but we always observe the water level to anticipate that the next time flooding can take action immediately," he concluded. md6

However, for now Sudarmawan said some areas had lowered the status of disasters. "In Bojonegoro had come out of standby status, Lamongan which yesterday was still in the ready state 3 is dropped into standby 2, and Gresik become idle one," he said.

Meanwhile, for the steps to be taken forward by BPBD sudarmawan states are still waiting for each region to report on current conditions. BPBD also prepare a post-post disaster management in each region. The fund was set up to Rp 150-300 million. "The funds for the establishment of shelters, shelter and money exhausted guard heavy equipment," he concluded.

Confirmed Separately, Head of Food Crop Production in the Department of Agriculture (Dispertan) East Java, said Achmad Nur Falakhi, the average rice production per hectare in a single harvest reached 5.929 tons. He detail, the amount of rice affected puso current per hectare can be multiplied by the existing land area, which is an area of 1178 hectares.

"Land affected puso 1178, produced an average of 5.929 tons per hectare," he said Thursday (19 / 1). So, if calculated, the total rice produced in Java that failed due to flooding at this time approximately 6984.4 tons.

However, he confirmed the current age of the affected rice puso still about 2 months. In that sense does not necessarily affected the rice crop failed puso claimed. "In contrast to the nearly rice harvest then experience puso or crop failure. It could be said to crop failure. If it is still not said to crop failure, "he said.

Meanwhile, although the current crop of rice in some areas in East Java, failed harvests aka puso, Bulog still optimistic it can absorb rice farmers until the end of the year amounted to 900 thousand tons. It is delivered by the Head of Regional Division (Divre) Bulog East Java, Rito Angky Pratomo, Wednesday (18 / 1).

"Puso happened not how big the impact on production in East Java. This means that the risk to fail in absorbing rice farmers is still small, "he said.

According to Rito, increasing as much as 1130 new partners partners adds confidence to be able to absorb rice farmers. Moreover, the current Government Purchase price (HPP) is pegged Bulog somewhat higher, namely rice at Rp 6,800 per kilogram (kg) and Rp 4,300 per kg for dry milled grain (MPD).

"We sure can realize the target absorption. Similarly, the existing stock is still safe in the amount of 202 thousand tons and still enough for 4 months ahead, "he added.

That surge arrestors Pasting Village

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - surge arrestors at the fishing village Kamal Muara, Village Dadap, District Kosambi, West Jakarta, have been completed. However, residents in the fishing village where the dubious effectiveness of the barrier wave.

"Look, the distance is too close to the location of homes," said Syamsudin, Chairman of RT 07/RW 04 Kamal Muara, pointing to the embankment retaining the high waves nearly 1.5 meters.

The dikes appear, leaving only a distance of about 0.5 meters from the building houses a fishing village, it even looks almost stuck at some point. Because too close, Syamsudin sure when a large wave came later, then the exposure to waves that break will still go into the village.

According to him, retaining dikes should be built jutting into the sea waves, far from the village, and not side by side.

However, residents remain grateful for the completion of construction of the wave barrier. They believe that the existence of a wave barrier will reduce the damage caused by exposure to wave as happened in October 2010. By then, most houses in the fishing village ravaged by a two-meter high waves up to three meters.

However, the effectiveness of the new wave barrier can truly tested when the east wind season. That's when high waves usually arise because fishing village in Kamal Muara, Dadap, overlooking the sea on the east side.

East wind season usually occurs in August, September, October.

Another thing that felt wedge for residents in the fishing village it is the loss of roads around the village that is now the location of the retaining levee along the 540-meter waves. Loss of access roads to make people lose a circular path that directly connects to the highway.

"I wonder, why the levees built on the road. Why is not built jutting into the sea so far could well be a breaking wave. Is it to save the cost of the project?" Syamsudin complained.

Syamsudin remember that before a levee ever built with a stone tied beronjong, about 15 meters from the outermost point of the current houses on stilts above the sea. "It used to house the very end it is the mainland, but is now submerged in sea water. Former long embankment also submerged in the sea," said Syamsudin.
