"Of course all volcanoes will explode, as this is going to be a very severe pole shift. What about the months and years preceding the pole shift? It is no secret that Mammoth Lake and the caldera of Yellowstone are warming up, and the populace has been prepared for these occurrences by the movie Volcano where there, in the middle of LA, lava is bubbling up. In fact, there is a fault line running from the approximate San Diego/LA area, up into the Sierras, and this is liable to rupture rather violently during one of the quakes that precedes the pole shift by some months. Volcanic eruptions from that area in the Sierras can be expected. Will Mount St. Helen erupt? Eruptions Continue at Mexico's Colima Volcano (Mar 27)

Strong explosions continue to occur at Colima Volcano.  

An eruption at 08:20 local time this morning produced several pyroclastic flows that traveled far down the western flank of the volcano.

Russia's Shiveluch Volcano Erupts Again (Mar 26)

Another powerful vulcanian explosion occurred this morning at 10:03 local time at the volcano. An eruption column rose to approx. 10 km altitude.

The eruption produced smaller pyroclastic flows from collapsing material at the base of the eruption column.

In Naples, the sea began to "boil": the fact, documented by a group of divers who immortalized the phenomenon with a video uploaded to YouReporter (images of yesterday, Sunday, March 22), is causing concern and worry in the capital of Campania.

It could be leaking volcanic gases from the seabed, but at the moment there is no confirmation or official data from the competent authorities. Russia's Shiveluch Volcano Erupts 4 Times This Week (Mar 22)

The Shiveluch volcano, in Russia's far-eastern Kamchatka territory erupted on Sunday morning for the fourth time in the past week, creating ash plumes up to 27,000 ft (9 km) and leading scientists to issue warnings for local residents and airlines.

Scientists issued an ash alert for Kamchatka's residents, advising them to stay indoors and and stock up on food and water.

Satellite data shows ash plumes drifted about 225 km to the north-east of the volcano.

Volcano Villarrica rumbling again in southern Chile

(Reuters) - Volcano Villarrica in southern Chile, which erupted earlier this month before settling down, has entered a more active phase again, expelling gas and ash into the atmosphere, Chilean authorities said on Wednesday.

Villarrica, located near the popular tourist resort of Pucon around 750 km (460 miles) south of the capital Santiago, is among the most active in South America.

On March 3 a short-lived eruption of ash and rock led to the evacuation of thousands from the nearby area.

Powerful Eruption Continues at Mexico's Colima Volcano (Mar 12)

The volcano continues to be highly active, producing intermittent explosions of various size.

An impressive vulcanian eruption that covered the upper part of the cone with incandescent material and produced an ash plume of several km high occurred yesterday morning.

Costa Rica's Turrialba Volcano Has Most Powerful Eruption in  Over a Century (Mar 12)

Costa Rica's Turrialba volcano belched a column of gas and ash up to 3,280 feet (1 km) into the air on Thursday in its most powerful eruption in over a century, and local authorities started to evacuate residents from the surrounding area.

Four explosions emanated from the volcano in central Costa Rica on Thursday, and ash reached parts of the capital San Jose some 30 miles (50 km) away, where the airport was closed. Before today, an expulsion of ash and magma from the volcano in October was its most significant activity in over a century.

"We have recommended the evacuation of people and small animals as a precaution. The last explosion was very strong," a spokesman for the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (Obsivori) said.

Costa Rica's emergency services ordered the closure of access roads near the volcano, which is major tourist draw, and were evacuating a radius of just over a mile around the volcano.

Two of the explosions rocked Turrialba Volcano within 3 hours of each other.

The first explosion occurred at 10:50 a.m. The fumarole spewed materials for about 24 minutes and reached some 500 meters (1,640 feet) above the crater’s summit, located some 67 kilometers northeast of the capital San José.

A second more powerful explosion at 1:48 p.m. created an ash column that reached some 1,000 meters (3,280 feet).

A series of volcanic tremors in the surroundings of Turrialba canton followed the explosion, said Raúl Mora, a volcanologist with the National University’s National Seismological Network, who was at Turrialba at the time.

Mora said the explosion had a greater magnitude than those recorded last weekend.

Ashes were visible on roofs, windows and cars as far as the provinces of San José and Heredia.

Second volcano rumbles to life in Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY – Two of Guatemala’s three active volcanoes have now rumbled to life, officials said Wednesday, one day after the Santiaguito volcano began belching smoke and showering nearby towns with ash.

Guatemala’s Fuego volcano, in the southwest, over the past several weeks has spewed adjacent towns with soot, forcing the temporary closure last month of a neighboring airport.

Now the Santiaguito volcano in the west has awakened as well, emitting columns of ash 400 meters (1,300 feet) tall above its crater.

Santiaguito, whose peak soars to 2,500 meters above sea level, is located in western Quetzaltenango province.

The sleeping giant began to stir on Tuesday, but officials said that thus far, they have not had to evacuate populated areas nearby.

The 3,700-meter tall Fuego — whose name means fire in English — last month spewed out large columns of ash, prompting an orange alert and forcing nearby residents to wear protective masks.

In 2012, several thousand people were evacuated from Fuego’s slopes after an eruption.

Officials said they are keeping an eye on Guatemala’s third active volcano, Pacaya, in the south. So far, there is no indication that it has been roused from its slumber.
