October 17, 2025, a playground collapsed at Zijiang School in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, fortunately no casualties were reported. The Zijiang School playground collapse emergency response headquarters announced on Saturday that they have begun an investigation to the cause.

The emergency response headquarters confirmed that the west wall and some playgrounds of the campus of the school collapsed, and the corners of the west side of the Boxue Building (teaching building) were damaged.

Huge hole after bridge, roadway collapse in Licking County

LICKING COUNTY, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) — A pickup trucker driver likely got a huge scare Tuesday night during the storm. Workers said the guy came across a collapsed bridge and roadway on Deeds Road near Granville, his front tires slipping off the pavement in the dark.

Crews were called out to repair the rural road of State Route 37.

Licking County Engineer Jared Knerr said all the rain is taking a toll on some roads across our area. The road and bridge on Ramp Creek collapsed and left a thirty-foot wide hole. The road is closed and traffic is being detoured.

Knerr said the bridge had been inspected in the past year and no issues were found. “The pipe itself has some damage on the underside, the inside, which again, didn’t show up on our inspection. So it has just happened recently as well,” Knerr said.

Salina Thrasher lives next to where the collapse happened. Thrasher joked that if we get more rain she might have to build an ark for her goats, chickens, and pet turkey named Fred. Thrasher said the rain came down so hard and fast the asphalt just crumbled.

“A big hole. It looks like there’s been an earthquake and the road just fell in,” said Thrasher.

Crews worked to cap off a natural gas line on the site. They will remove the damaged pipe. Knerr said they would look for a concrete box culvert to replace the damaged section. That may take weeks or even months. People who live in the area are not looking forward to the inconvenience of the road being closed. No word yet on what the repairs will cost.

This is the moment half of a multi-lane road disappears down a construction pit hours after workers discovered cracks forming underneath it.

Footage from the city of Nanning, capital of China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, shows the construction site’s retaining wall giving way on 8th June.

It happened at 6pm local time, just six hours after workmen noticed cracks emerging on the surface of eight-lane Dongge Road, which has four lanes going in either direction.

By 2pm, construction was halted and personnel were evacuated from the pit, where the foundations of a multi-storey building were still being laid.

Footage taken from a nearby tower block shows half of Dongge Road then collapsing and tonnes of earth pouring into the excavated land.

Officials said no one was injured during the accident, which affected a road section 60 metres (196 feet) long and 15 metres (50 feet) wide.

According to reports, minor cracks in the road surface had been discovered a week earlier, but they were not serious enough for work to be stopped.

Authorities have sealed off the west-to-east section of Dongge Road and are working to reconstruct the retaining wall, which they say had been warped due to erosion caused by a leaking pipe.

Heavy congestion has already been reported in the area, with traffic having been diverted away from the thoroughfare.

Officials did not reveal who the construction site belongs to whether the owners would be held liable for the incident.

A high-rise apartment block in the Sydney suburb of Mascot has been evacuated after residents reported the building started to move.

Residents from 131 apartments were evacuated by Police and NSW Fire and Rescue who attended the Bourke Street building, just after 6pm this evening.

“We evacuated as a precaution, after movement was detected over a couple of days,” a NSW Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.

Police say a number of residents left the building on their own accord.

A temporary shelter has been established at Mascot Town Hall where residents can wait for the ‘all clear’.

Engineers are currently at the location assessing the 'structural integrity' and safety on the floors affected.

While no injuries have been reported police have cordoned off the area to prevent any injury, should debris star falling from the building.

There was also a road exclusion zone in place at Bourke Street and nearby Coward Street and Church Avenue.

Some residents reported seeing the cracks in the walls get bigger over the past two days and all are required to find alternative accommodation for the time being.

Strata and building management issued a notice to residents saying 94 units were evacuated and further monitoring of the situation would be required over the next week.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Emergency crews responded to a building collapse in Hillsboro Village.

Part of the building that housed The Impeccable Pig store at 21st Street and Belcourt Avenue collapsed Wednesday evening.

The store is located at the end of a strip mall. It appears some kind of construction was going on in the parking lot next door.

Nashville Fire Department officials said the strip mall will remain closed until it is inspected and deemed safe.

It's unclear what caused the collapse. No injuries have been reported.

Road collapse strands hotel occupants near Keystone

KEYSTONE, S.D. — Heavy flowing water has caused a road collapse on Old Hill City Road near Keystone.

The collapse happened in front of K Bar S Lodge. According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, there’s no way in or out from the lodge.

Crews have been working with the lodge’s manager to get medications as needed to staff and customers. According to management, the lodge has 60 rooms occupied today and about 20-25 visitors that are trying to leave, but are stranded.

Officials say everyone is safe and there are no evacuations at this time.

At least three people were killed and 87 injured in southwest China on Monday after the steel roof of a bar collapsed.

The roof of the 0776 bar on the top floor of a three-storey building in Baise, Guangxi, caved in on staff and customers at about 1am, state media reported, citing city authorities.

By late afternoon, rescuers were still searching for four other people believed trapped under the debris, The Beijing News reported.

About 30 emergency vehicles and more than 200 firefighters were sent to the scene, the official Weibo account of the fire and rescue service said.

Firefighters used demolition equipment to dismantle the remains of the roof.

The entrance and exit to the 12-metre (40 feet) high building were on the ground floor, state-run China Central Television (CCTV) reported

The 700 square metre bar opened in January at a cost of 20 million yuan (US$2.9 million), the CCTV report said.

The Ministry of Emergency Management sent a team to help local authorities in their rescue efforts, while six doctors from the National Health Commission were at the scene

13 dead after church collapses in South Africa

At least 13 people have been killed after part of a church collapsed in South Africa, according to local media.

Broadcaster News24 cited KwaZulu-Natal emergency medical services spokesman Robert McKenzie as saying heavy rain may have been to blame for the collapse on Thursday night in Dlangubo.

The report said the collapse at the Pentecostal church occurred as an Easter season service was underway.

Mr McKenzie said six people were seriously injured.

TWO buildings have collapsed in Rio de Janeiro killing two and leaving 15 missing, according to reports.

Services have rushed to the scene and are scouring the rubble.

Witnesses say the buildings "suddenly crumbled", reports Globo.com.

One resident said: "The locals who are helping went there and heard a lady scream exactly in her room."

The homes have between three and four floors.

One man was seen being taken away on a stretcher after the collapse at around 7am local time, or 11am GMT.

The region had been hit by thunderstorms earlier this week, although the cause is not yet clear.

It was not raining at the time of the collapse.

According to reports, there is a strong smell of gas.

Firefighters have put the area on alert over fears buildings nearby may also be at risk.

According to reports there are around 60 buildings under construction in the area.

One witness added: "They build without end, without stopping.

"One building after another, crazy. It was constant explosions. They just want to build and sell."

Two dead after buildings collapse in militia-controlled Rio neighborhood

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 12 (Reuters) - At least two people died and two more were injured when two unlicensed buildings in a militia-controlled outer borough of Rio de Janeiro collapsed on Friday, just days after deadly rains caused chaos in Brazil’s second largest city.

It was unclear why the four-story buildings, located in the western neighborhood of Itanhangá, collapsed. Locals said at least four families were living in the buildings, which were undergoing construction. An unknown number of people were still missing, locals and officials said.

“Two people were injured and two were killed, and teams are on the scene looking for survivors who may be buried,” a fire department spokesman said.

The mayor’s office said the two buildings were irregular constructions, which had not been authorized. Brazilian cities underwent rapid and mostly unplanned urbanization in the last six decades, giving rise to vast shantytowns, erected haphazardly without adhering to building codes.

Powerful militias - originally created to defend inhabitants from drug gangs, but which now act as fearsome local crime outfits - have a strong presence in the neighborhood where the buildings collapsed. Militias often control gas and electricity services, but now make huge profits by stealing land and illegally selling it for construction projects.

“As (the region) is dominated by militias, the technicians of the municipal inspection office usually require the support of the military police to carry out inspections there,” the mayor’s office said in a statement, adding that it had shuttered several unauthorized constructions nearby last November.

A man who said he was a resident in one of the buildings told reporters that he made it out after hearing a snap.

“I managed to escape, but there were people left behind,” said the man, who declined to give his name.

The buildings collapsed just days after Rio de Janeiro was hit by record rains that caused severe damage across the city. At least 10 people died in the storm on Monday night, which led city authorities to declare a state of emergency.
