"Stretch zones primarily experience sinking ground, as the support in the rock strata is stretched thin. Thus, buildings implode and gas and water mains break."  ZetaTalk

What happens to rock layers under a diagonal pull, or being pulled apart? As can be seen during recent years, this has resulted in derailing trains, sinkholes suddenly appearing, gas and water main breaks, torn roadways and separating bridges. Despite the effect on man, crawling about on the surface of what they assume to be terra firma, these changes are superficial. When the pulling starts, weak points break and thereafter the plumbing and roadways hold, giving the impression that the pulling has stopped, but this is misleading. The North American continent is giving evidence that its rock layers are separating from each other, and sliding sideways in a diagonal, thus exposing portions of these layers to vent into the air above. If rock is being stressed, then where are the earthquake predictors giving evidence of this, the frantic animals, the static on the radio, the earthquake swarms? Rock in the stretch zone, pulling apart rather than compressing, does not emit the particles flows that animals and radios sense, nor register on instruments are tension and release quakes.

"We have repeatedly stated that the Earth changes will not diminish, but will increase going into the pole shift.

This is not a lineal matter, as the closer Planet X comes to Earth, an inevitable path, the more the torque effect and the polar wobble where the N Pole of Earth is pushed away violently on a daily basis, occur. The wobble will become more pronounced, more violent. The plates are tugged back West of the Atlantic, pulled forward East of the Atlantic, during the daily rotation of the Earth. The North American continent is allowed to roll East during rotation while the S Pole is pulled West, creating the diagonal pull likely to trigger the New Madrid fault line into an adjustment, and soon. The N Pole is pushed away and allowed to bounce back, daily, as the Earth rotates, a wobble that puts stress on all fault lines when the plates are suddenly in motion, and suddenly stopped!

"As there is no other explanation for the effect on the stretch zone, lacking any earthquakes to blame, and as these stretch zone accidents will continue to emerge, and with ferocity, this is a certain clue to those on the fence, that the influence of Planet X is the cause. Or is it Global Warming?"

ZetaTalk Chat Q&A for April 13, 2013

"Sinkholes almost invariably form in areas subject to karst limestone cavern formation. Underground water flows eat away the limestone leaving vast caverns and caves, which often give scant indication above ground that a cavern lies below. Karst limestone rock formations have been mapped and are known, however, but since one never knows just where a cavern might have formed, this provides little help in predicting just where a sinkhole might form. Sinkholes open up when the rock is fractured due to stress from being in the stretch zone, from the bending of a plate, or due to torsion."

Giant Sinkhole Opens in Residential Florida Neighborhood (Jul 7)

David Williams left his home at 1:45 p.m. to visit family last Monday. He says by the time 2:20 p.m. hit, it happened that quickly.

He received a call that a sinkhole had opened up across the street from his home. He figured it would be pretty minor, but came home to see his entire road was blocked off and the sinkhole was quite large.

"I never thought that I'd be worried about a sinkhole. Lo and behold, I come home and I was like, 'Whoa.'"

The sinkhole is located on Celosia Way off of Country Kitchen Road in Madison, Florida. Madison is a small town about an hour east of Tallahassee.

Geologists are now studying the hole as it continues to grow bigger. Celosia Way around Williams' home is shut down, but he's able to get in and out.

Even though the large hole is directly across the street, he says he has no plans on leaving his home, unless the cracks get closer.

Now the road department in Madison is calling on geologists to help. Last year, the Florida Geological Survey received a $1 million grant to study sinkholes. They finished the first phase of their study, which started in north Florida.

"We visited and confirmed a little over 200 sinkholes in the pilot study area," said Alan Baker with the Florida Geological Survey.

  • The ground fell away after rain, taking five cars with into the abyss
  • The car park was next to a construction site in Chengdu, China
  • No one was hurt, despite the large scale of the collapse

This car park in China collapsed into a pit after a sudden and heavy rainfall washed away the soil beneath.

The stricken building is next to a construction site in Chengdu, in south-west China's Sichuan province.

Five cars dropped 30ft into a deep pit and another left hanging precariously over the edge after the incident, which took place earlier today. Several trees were also dragged in, but no casualties were reported.

Sinkhole closes west Quebec highway

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/sinkhole-closes-west-quebec-hi...

Pontiac Mayor Roger Larose says he warned the province a month ago about problems with a highway culvert that likely caused a large sinkhole to appear on Highway 148 on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning a large sinkhole 10 metres deep and 10 metres wide formed on Highway 148's eastbound lanes, closing the highway in both directions between the communities of Quyon and Luskville, both of which are part of the municipality of Pontiac.

Deep sinkhole appears in man's yard

Al Schultz peers down a sinkhole on July 4, 2014, while his granddaughter Keirra watches from the driveway. The hole appeared in the front of his home in the Gold Hill area of Fairbanks. Schultz estimates the hole is about 70 to 80 feet deep.

Posted: Friday, July 4, 2014 6:57 pm | Updated: 4:56 pm, Sat Jul 5, 2014.

FAIRBANKS—A Gold Hill resident got a nasty surprise after returning from vacation this week when he discovered a sinkhole diving to depths of a stomach-churning 70 to 80 feet in his front yard.

Al Schultz on Friday had cordoned off the roughly 4-foot wide hole that appeared in a roadside ditch and covered the opening with wood planks. Schultz didn't have a clear solution to the problem.

"I called about three excavation companies and with the holiday got one to come out and look at it," he said. "We tied a truck hitch to his rope and threw it down there."

But the contractor's rope was too short and the hitch dangled somewhere down the hole, Schultz said. To reach the bottom, Schultz tied another length of rope to the contractors' rope.

They measured 82 feet.

But just what it looked like down there, they didn't know, and Schultz couldn't get a quote for the fix at the time.

"I'm worried about standing here, we don't know if it doesn't open up to a cavern below," he said, standing in his driveway a good 15 feet from the opening.

Demonstrating to the News-Miner on Friday, Schultz tossed a rock down the sinkhole and what seemed like about three seconds passed before a thud was heard at the bottom.

After a quick offer and a rope tied around a News-Miner reporter's waist, a camera with a flashlight was lowered down into the sinkhole.

The light from a small LED flashlight on a camera completely disappeared into the hazy dark depths of the sinkhole before coming to rest on the bottom.

Schultz then laid out the rope and with the help of neighbor Fred Kameroff counted out 72 feet.

As far as the disparity in depth with what he measured with the contractor, Schultz wondered if there was a shelf the camera might have got caught on.

A review of the video in Schultz's driveway didn't reveal much other than that the muddy walls of the sinkhole appeared to be mostly smooth and the same width the whole way down, without any apparent presence of caverns or shafts leading off.

"I thought it was 20 to 30 feet maybe," Schultz said, clearly conscious of his footing and distance to the hole. "But this deep is a ways down there. That would hurt."

Schultz said he'll continue to keep cars and his 2-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter Keirra away from the sinkhole until he can get a more solid plan for repairs next week. He also said he will likely plan to approach the university because, after all, it's not every day that a sinkhole like this appears in a front yard.

Chicago Apartments Evacuated After Sinkhole Swallows Patio (Jul 4)

An apartment building and coach house were evacuated after a sinkhole formed between the West Town structures early Friday.

Someone flagged down police in the 1400 block of West Chicago Avenue about 1 a.m. after the 20-foot long by 20-foot wide hole opened, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said. The hole is about 10 feet deep, she said.

Emergency crews evacuated the apartment and coach house behind it but no one was hurt, Fire Media Affairs Chief Larry Langford said.

The hole formed in a concrete area between the coach house and the four-story building, which includes Butterfly Sushi Bar on the first floor and three floors of apartment units above, according to a man who works for the building manager.

The owner of the building decided to vacate all eight units in the apartment and coach house, and would help find tenants other places to stay, according to Amy Simon, spokeswoman for the Chicago Department of Buildings.

A passageway between the basement levels of the coach house and the apartment that had been sealed years ago by a previous owner collapsed under the concrete. Tenants kept patio furniture on the area, which also housed the units’ air conditioners, he said. Restaurant workers used the path to take out trash.

The restaurant will be closed indefinitely, according to the building worker, who declined to give his name.

Alexandra Shoemaker, 24, who lives on the second floor of the apartment, said she came home early Friday to numerous police and fire crews around the building, who told her the building was safe to stay in. She said she decided to stay at her boyfriend’s apartment after she saw the extent of damage this morning.

“I looked down and the back patio was gone,” Shoemaker said.

Witness and resident Melisa Rutkelis said the incident was frightening.

"It's insane, just scary," she said. "You see straight down and it looks like an earthquake."

The exact cause of the sinkhole was not known Friday afternoon as city inspectors evaluate the damage.

6 Injured After Falling Into Sinkhole on Basketball Court in Philippines (Jul 3)

Six people were hurt after they fell into a sinkhole that appeared in the middle of a basketball court in Purok Jalandoni, Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental Thursday.

The hole, which is around three meters in diameter and around 12-foot deep, has a narrow entry and a wide base.

One of the victims, Jhoenavelie Centinales, was with her 4-year-old daughter when she went near the area to look for her brother and son.

She accidentally fell inside the hole, with her brother and son also inside.

Her husband and another brother tried to help them but also fell into the hole.

Centinales said they did not see the hole on the ground because it was dark.

They were all brought to the hospital, but no one suffered from any serious injuries.

Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco immediately ordered local officials to cordon off the area to ensure the safety of the residents.

He also requested the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) to investigate how the sinkhole suddenly appeared in the area.

Schoolgirl falls into 25ft deep sinkhole while out playing and SURVIVES

Daisy-Mae Jones, 7, fell the equivalent height of a two-storey house and incredibly walked away with just cuts and bruises

Her terrified mother Janine struggled to find little Daisy-Mae at first because of the thick grass, and the search party were led by the schoolgirl's cries for help until they found the hole.

A nearby builder helped to rescue her - and incredibly, she walked away with just cuts and bruises.

Neighbouring builder, Gary Barson, was alerted to the rescue and took his ladders to the hole so Daisy-Mae could climb out.

He said: "She was hysterical. This hole was about 3ft by 4ft and at least 25ft deep. It is amazing she didn't get more seriously hurt."

2 Injured After Driving Into Roadway Washout and are Run Over (Jul 1)

An Elgin teenager suffered serious injuries after the car he was riding in early Tuesday morning plunged into a sinkhole on a rural Kane County road and then was run over by a pickup truck.

San Juanita Pineda, 41, said she and her 15-year-old son, Benjamin Hernandez, were headed north on Thomas Road just past McDonald Road south of Burlington when they came upon a portion of the roadway that had been completely washed out. Their car fell into the sinkhole.

Pineda, who works as a carrier delivering the Daily Herald, said she and her son were working about 3:45 a.m. when they found themselves below ground and trapped in the vehicle. She was at the wheel of her uncle's Ford Taurus, she said.

"It was dark, it was pitch black, and all of a sudden I'm in the hole," Pineda said. "The impact was pretty hard. My car turned off completely. I had no emergency lights."

The sinkhole was 10 feet in diameter and deep enough that the Ford Taurus was completely below ground level, Kane County sheriff's authorities said.

Benjamin, who just finished his freshman year at Larkin High School, suffered a spinal fracture, a broken rib and a broken jaw, and he lost some teeth in the crash, his mother said. He is being treated at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was listed in fair condition Tuesday afternoon. He remains in intensive care.

"We're going to give it time to see if he's going to need surgery," Pineda said. "We don't know if he's able to get up and walk."

Pineda said she's having chest and back pains as a result of the accident.

Mother and son were on their way to deliver their fourth newspaper of the day when the accident happened on a dark stretch of road. Pineda said she was driving about 15 mph, having just left a newspaper in a mailbox, before the car was swallowed by the sinkhole.

"I was conscious. My son, I had to yell at him a couple of times (to get him to respond)," she said.

Pineda said the air bags went off and she had trouble finding her cellphone. After a few minutes, she was able to locate it and dial 911.

Sheriff's deputies were sent to the scene about 3:50 a.m., but before they arrived a Chevrolet pickup truck drove over the Ford Taurus.

The driver of the pickup truck, Irvin Moreno, 25, of Maple Park, was treated and released at the scene, authorities said.

"While I was talking to 911, this truck flies over me," she said. "About three or four minutes later, (the driver of the truck) walks up to the hole. He asked if anybody was in the car."

Fire personnel pulled Pineda out fairly quickly, but it took about 90 minutes to free her son afterward because they had to remove the roof, she said. The car is totaled, she said.

Pineda was treated at Kishwaukee Hospital in Sycamore. Her son was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva and then transferred to Loyola.

Benjamin, the youngest of her four children, has been helping Pineda deliver newspapers while on summer break, she said. Pineda, a single mother, said she also has a factory job.

"He would always ask me, 'Do you want me to come with you?' And I would say, 'If you want to,'" she said. "Now I feel like I will probably panic with any hole in the road, or going over a bump."

Sheriff's authorities said it is unknown exactly why that section of roadway was washed out, but it appears to be related to the overnight storms.

Thomas Road between Middleton and McDonald roads will be closed indefinitely due to the damage to the roadway, officials said.
