What happens to rock layers under a diagonal pull, or being pulled apart? As can be seen during recent years, this has resulted in derailing trains, sinkholes suddenly appearing, gas and water main breaks, torn roadways and separating bridges. Despite the effect on man, crawling about on the surface of what they assume to be terra firma, these changes are superficial. When the pulling starts, weak points break and thereafter the plumbing and roadways hold, giving the impression that the pulling has stopped, but this is misleading. The North American continent is giving evidence that its rock layers are separating from each other, and sliding sideways in a diagonal, thus exposing portions of these layers to vent into the air above. If rock is being stressed, then where are the earthquake predictors giving evidence of this, the frantic animals, the static on the radio, the earthquake swarms? Rock in the stretch zone, pulling apart rather than compressing, does not emit the particles flows that animals and radios sense, nor register on instruments are tension and release quakes.

Karst limestone rock formations have been mapped and are known, however, but since one never knows just where a cavern might have formed, this provides little help in predicting just where a sinkhole might form. Sinkhole closes down part of 50 Street

EDMONTON – In a city where potholes are fairly common, it takes a really big hole in the ground for Edmontonians to take notice.
The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is warning drivers to avoid 50 Street at 44 Avenue after a massive sinkhole opened up in the intersection.
The sinkhole appeared around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, causing the northbound lanes in the intersection to be closed for an undetermined length of time until repairs can be made.
EPS is recommending northbound drivers exit 50 Street at 34 Avenue.
This isn’t the first sinkhole to wreak havoc on Edmonton roads. On April 20, one opened up on 99 Street between 72 and 73 Avenue, causing delays for several days.
40-Foot Sinkhole Opens in Tennessee Football Stadium (May 19)

Sinkhole Swallows Parked Car in Pennsylvania (May 17)
A sinkhole opened up on the 600 block of Edison Street in York Saturday morning after a reported water main break.
One resident's car was swallowed by the hole and submerged in water.
Water service had to be shut off to about 29 customers until repairs were made.
Officials say the street had just been paved.

A giant sinkhole opened up in a residential area on Detroit's west side Sunday. The hole is at Carlin Street and Tireman Avenue and takes up much of the intersection.

The Columbia Public Works Department has closed East Gans Creek Road between Ponderosa Street and Discovery Parkway because of a sinkhole that caused a road collapse, according to a Public Works news release.
No through or local traffic is allowed on that section of East Gans Creek Road. Public Works engineers and Street Division Maintenance crews will try to determine the size of the sinkhole and how to repair the road, which will be closed until further notice, the news release said.
Large Sinkhole in St. Paul Minnesota (May 9)
The collapse of a regional sewer line Friday on St. Paul’s East Side left a large sinkhole near a busy intersection, requiring repairs that could take several days
The line that failed is a 54-inch gravity-flow concrete pipe laid in 1989 that collects sewage from as far as Forest Lake and directs it to the Met Council’s Metropolitan wastewater treatment plant on the Mississippi River in St. Paul, the largest plant in the state.
The break occurred about 2 a.m. Friday on the boulevard in the east corner of Phalen Boulevard and Johnson Parkway, said Tim O’Donnell, a spokesman for Metropolitan Council Environmental Services.
Although it was unclear what caused the break, it appeared that the top of the (concrete) pipe had corroded and collapsed under the weight of the waterlogged earth above it, O’Donnell said.
The result was a crater about 25 feet deep and measuring 25 feet across.

Huge sinkhole swallows part of Saskatoon highway
A huge sinkhole has swallowed part of a highway near Prince Albert.
The massive hole is located along Highway 302, about 15 kilometres west of the city.
A washout eroded part of the highway and much of the side of the road.
Traffic is being detoured in the area, and there’s no word on when the road will be repaired.
Detours are also in place due to washouts on Highway 33 near Mont Nebo and Highway 55 between Smeaton and Snowden
