🌍 One Wobble, Two Connected Layers: Plate Movement and Global Weather

An ongoing observation thread for ZetaTalk followers

The daily Earth wobble has been underway for a long time. It did not suddenly begin in August 2026. What stands out in this period is the increasingly visible overlap between two expressions of the same intensified wobble:

  1. Atmospheric disruption above, including displaced air masses, pressure shifts, heat domes, violent thunderstorms, tornadoes, extreme rainfall and rapid temperature reversals.
  2. Increasing plate movement below, including compression, stretching, earthquakes, landslides, volcanic unrest and movement along plate borders and ocean ridges.

The purpose of this blog is to keep both layers together. Weather events should not be studied separately from plate stress, and plate activity should not be viewed without considering the daily wobble and its effect on the atmosphere.

The daily wobble and the four Earth faces

The “faces” identify which broad longitude sector is facing the Sun during each part of the daily Figure-8 wobble. They are not separate forces or separate wobbles. They are successive phases of one daily motion.

Pacific / New Zealand Face. Polar Push
The magnetic North Pole is pushed away. A new daily wobble cycle and renewed global stress begin.

India Face. Lean Right
Compression around the Himalayas and the India Plate “Brake” becomes especially relevant.

Italy / Europe Face. Lean Left
The earlier lean reverses. European and Mediterranean circulation and plate loading can change sharply.

Atlantic / Americas Face. Bounce Back
The globe rebounds from the preceding lean, affecting the Atlantic and Americas before the next Polar Push.

Because the atmosphere, oceans and crust respond differently, the wobble does not produce the same effect everywhere at the same moment. One region can experience trapped heat while another receives violent storms or flooding. One plate border can be compressed while a distant ridge or subduction zone releases accumulated stress.

The significant feature is the organized global overlap, not one isolated weather record or earthquake.

24 August: the Pomas tornado during the Atlantic transition

On 24 August, a destructive tornado struck Pomas in southern France at approximately 15:00 to 15:20 UTC. It injured 39 people and damaged about 300 homes. Around 100 homes were reportedly left unsafe or uninhabitable. Winds were estimated above 200 km/h, with later assessments placing the tornado around the EF2 to EF3 range.

The tornado did not form in isolation. Southern France and the western Mediterranean had already experienced repeated heatwaves, drought, very dry ground and exceptionally warm water. The tornado occurred during a larger outbreak involving severe thunderstorms, hail, destructive winds, flooding and tens of thousands of lightning strikes across a corridor extending from Spain and southern France toward Corsica.

Its timing is especially relevant. At approximately 15:20 UTC, Europe was rotating away from the Italy Face Lean Left and into the Atlantic/Americas Bounce Back. This is the part of the daily wobble when the previous lean reverses and Atlantic pressure patterns can shift quickly.

The event therefore fits the following sequence:

European Lean Left → Atlantic transition → collision of warm African and cooler Atlantic air → rotating storms and destructive weather

The tornado was one atmospheric expression of a much wider transition involving trapped heat, sharp pressure changes and rapidly reorganizing air masses.

26 August: the India Plate “Brake” and the Tibet mudslide

On 26 August, a catastrophic collapse occurred directly along the Nepal-Tibet border. Glacier ice, rock, mud and water moved down the mountain system, producing a destructive debris flow and flash flooding through the border region.

The seismic signal was initially reported as an earthquake of about magnitude 5.2. Later analysis identified the signal as being produced by the enormous landslide itself. The essential ZetaTalk question is what destabilized the glacier, rock and water at this precise plate boundary.

ZetaTalk identifies movement of the India Plate as the trigger. The India Plate is being pushed beneath the Himalayas and acts as the “Brake” within global plate movement. When this brake moves, other plates are temporarily freer to adjust.

The location is central to the interpretation. The collapse occurred directly on the India-Tibet plate border, where compression and plate-border trauma would be expected when India is driven farther beneath the Himalayas. This movement destabilized the mountain mass, releasing rock, ice and accumulated water.

The mudslide should therefore be understood as more than a weather-related glacier failure. It marks movement at one of the most important pressure points in the global plate system.

26 to 29 August: the tectonic ricochet

The events following the Tibet collapse help show why the India Plate is described as the Brake.

Immediate response to the west

On 27 August, earthquakes appeared on the western side of the India Plate near Madagascar and the Indian Ocean ridge system. ZetaTalk explained that these were not the expected eastward domino sequence. They were a continuation of the original India Plate movement.

Because the India Plate is large and curves toward Australia, movement beneath the Himalayas can open space on both sides. A void opens to the west in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar, while pressure is also transferred toward the minor platelets east of India.

Later ricochet to the east

On 29 August, additional activity developed across Indonesia and the surrounding collision zones. This was the later west-to-east movement expected from a Domino or Ricochet event.

The sequence was therefore:

  1. 26 August, India-Tibet border: the Brake moves and the Tibet collapse occurs.
  2. 27 August, Madagascar side: an immediate western adjustment remains part of the India Plate movement.
  3. 29 August, Indonesia: pressure transfers eastward into separate minor plates and collision zones.

This was not one simple bounce. It was a chain reaction in which movement at a major continental brake temporarily allowed other plate boundaries to adjust.

The atmospheric side: record heat, violent storms and opposite extremes

While this tectonic ricochet was developing below, the atmosphere above was also showing increasingly extreme displacement.

The pattern was not simply “everything getting hotter.” Hot air was being trapped or driven into unusual regions, while cooler or moisture-loaded air collided with it elsewhere. This created record temperatures on one side of a boundary and violent storms, flooding or sudden cooling on the other.

Records reported on 1 and 2 September

  • Southern France: 36.6°C at Les Vans, 36.5°C at Fitou and 35.2°C at BĂ©ziers, following earlier September records at Monfort and Trets.
  • Balkans: Overnight minimums of 28.3°C at Dubrovnik and 27.0°C at Podgorica. Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia recorded their warmest September nights.
  • North Africa: Minimums of 32.4°C at Ouargla, 31.9°C at Touggourt and 31.8°C at El Oued. Records also fell across Tunisia and parts of West Africa.
  • Canadian Arctic: Clyde reached 15.4°C near 70°N, setting a September record.
  • Siberia: Selagoncy reached 27.8°C and broke its September record immediately after breaking an August record.
  • Mongolia: Bayantoorai reached 37.7°C, reported as Mongolia’s highest September temperature.
  • South and Southeast Asia: Record maximums and exceptionally high nighttime minimums spread across India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
  • Central America: Choluteca reached 39.8°C, reported as Honduras’s highest September temperature.
  • South America: Lima recorded a September minimum of 20.4°C while parts of the Amazon approached 40°C.

Weather historian Maximiliano Herrera reported that tens of thousands of records had been broken across more than 220 countries and territories during the opening days of September. The importance lies in the geographical spread. The record pattern extended from Africa across Europe and Asia, into the Americas and high Arctic.

At the same time, the remnants of Tropical Storm Edouard brought an opposite extreme to Texas. Some areas received up to approximately 53 centimetres of rain, accompanied by flash flooding, uprooted trees, widespread power failures and a reported wind gust of 145 km/h.

This is the push-pull pattern expected when the wobble disrupts air and water masses:

Trapped and displaced heat in one region → pressure and moisture concentration elsewhere → abrupt storms, flooding and temperature reversals

Plate activity continuing into 2 September

The plate response also continued. The USGS 24-hour feed generated at approximately 15:24 UTC on 2 September listed 19 earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 or greater. The most relevant feature was their clustering along ridges, subduction zones and plate margins.

  • 22:37 to 23:45 UTC, 1 September. Mid-Indian Ridge: M4.6, M4.7 and M4.6 cluster.
  • 00:04 UTC. Papua, Indonesia: M5.6.
  • 05:10 to 05:40 UTC. Aleutian Islands, Alaska: four earthquakes between M4.6 and M5.2.
  • 06:13 and 06:57 UTC. South Island, New Zealand: M5.3 followed by M5.2.
  • 10:54 UTC. South Sandwich Islands: M5.2.
  • 12:28 UTC. Offshore Mexico: M5.6.
  • 12:32 UTC. Aleutian Islands: M5.2.
  • 12:35 UTC. Southern East Pacific Rise: M5.9.

The Mexico, Aleutian and East Pacific Rise earthquakes occurred within approximately eight minutes despite their wide geographical separation. Earlier, three earthquakes had clustered along the Mid-Indian Ridge, followed by activity in Indonesia, New Zealand and the Aleutians.

The developing line can be summarized as:

Mid-Indian Ridge → Indonesia → New Zealand and Aleutians → South Sandwich Islands → Mexico and East Pacific Rise

Mount Sinabung in Indonesia also erupted on 31 August after volcanic seismicity had increased since late July. This adds volcanic pressure release to the continuing Indonesian and western Pacific activity.

The bigger picture

The late-August and early-September events should be viewed as one developing global picture.

Above the surface

  • African heat is driven into the Mediterranean and Europe.
  • Record warmth reaches Siberia, Canada and the Arctic.
  • Warm nights show that heat remains trapped after sunset.
  • Colliding air masses generate tornadoes, hail, extreme lightning and destructive winds.
  • Displaced water and moisture produce exceptional rainfall and flooding elsewhere.

Below the surface

  • The India Plate is pushed beneath the Himalayas.
  • Border trauma destabilizes the Tibet mountain system.
  • Movement opens space west toward Madagascar.
  • Pressure later transfers east through Indonesia.
  • Ridge, subduction-zone and plate-margin activity continues into the Pacific and Americas.

These are two connected expressions of the same intensified daily wobble. The atmosphere responds through pressure, wind, temperature and water. The crust responds through compression, stretching, slipping, sinking, landslides, earthquakes and volcanic activity.

What to watch next

The next stage is not to focus on every isolated event. The stronger evidence will come from repeated clusters that reproduce the same relationships:

  • plate movement near the India Plate Brake;
  • activity west near Madagascar and the Indian Ocean ridges;
  • later movement through Indonesia and the western Pacific;
  • Atlantic and Americas activity during the Bounce Back;
  • European heat or storms during the Italy Face and Atlantic transition;
  • same-day overlap between atmospheric extremes and plate releases;
  • events that repeatedly cluster within similar UTC windows.

Event time is more useful than the time a report was posted. When adding observations, use UTC wherever possible and include the original source.

Memphis recorded a maximum of 98°F (36.7°C) and a minimum of 77°F (25.0°C) on September 17. These were respectively 6.7°C and 6.1°C above normal. The maximum remained just below the daily record of 99°F. This extends the record of persistent heat without establishing a new daily maximum record. NWS Memphis observations

NWS continues to forecast heat in the mid-Mississippi Valley. Heavy rainfall and possible flooding are forecast through Sunday across parts of the upper Midwest, central Great Lakes, southern New England and the Virginia/North Carolina tidewater region. An earlier addition is the September 17 M4.5 southwest of Labuan, Indonesia, at 19:17 UTC, depth 10 km. It predates the previous update.

Repeated activity near SipĂ­ and Izu makes local sequence activity plausible. These events should not automatically be counted as independent steps in a global response. The deep Fiji earthquake also needs to remain distinct from shallower activity.

At Kīlauea, HVO confirms that the six new vents had stagnated. The latest reports describe no active lava flows, while pressure remains high and magma remains near the surface at the established vents. WATCH/ORANGE remains unchanged. A message published September 18 at 06:16 UTC reports that summit deflation had stopped by 19:00 UTC on September 17, leaving the summit tiltmeter flat. HVO attributes an apparent inflation peak at PuÊ»uÊ»ĆÊ»Ć to heavy rainfall, not magma movement.

No precise push, lean or bounce-back phase is assigned. The available atmospheric observations do not provide sufficient geographic and timing coverage to resolve a global phase.

Three reviewed M4.5+ earthquakes extend the morning chronology:

‱ 13:30:49 UTC: M4.7, 107 km southeast of Vilyuchinsk, Kamchatka. Depth 57.4 km.

USGS earthquake map and event list

For plate interpretation, geographic recurrence should be distinguished from a demonstrated transfer of stress. This scan does not establish fault mechanisms or a causal sequence connecting these distant events. A listed depth of 10 km alone cannot establish the type of fault movement.

At Kīlauea, HVO’s latest retrieved short message documents vent 6 north of vent 5. It became visible shortly before 04:00 UTC on September 17. A small summit tilt drop began around 03:00 UTC; HVO says this may correlate with the vent opening. This development was already included in the earlier morning update. HVO observatory messages

The preceding daily bulletin described five new vents, small lava flows, stalled inflation and increased tremor. The later short message brings the documented vent count to six. Wobble phase

No precise push, lean or bounce-back phase is assigned. Establishing such a phase would require independent, time-resolved observations. Earthquake timing, one station’s temperature report and forecast rainfall areas do not establish a global wobble phase.

Atmospheric event

The National Weather Service describes continued heat and humidity across the Southern Plains and lower Mississippi Valley, with daily temperature records potentially challenged.

Separately, repeated thunderstorms bring flash-flood potential across the Four Corners region and from the mid-Mississippi Valley into the lower Great Lakes. These are forecast conditions, not newly verified temperature records or rainfall totals.

The earlier Memphis record remains part of the chronology. Current specialist heat posts and NHC bulletins could not be retrieved in this check. Worldwide atmospheric coverage remains partial.

Awash adds activity in the Ethiopian rift region following the previously recorded Gulf of Aden earthquake. This expands the regional record, but does not establish that movement transferred between the two locations.

The Philippines, Japan, Marianas, Vanuatu, Kermadec and New Britain events extend the Pacific comparison across several tectonic settings. Locations and depths alone do not establish individual rupture directions or a single connected progression.

The new SipĂ­ earthquake occurs near earlier activity in the same area. Local recurrence is plausible and should be distinguished from activity on a newly involved distant margin. The two Mariana events differ substantially in location and depth, so they should not automatically be treated as a straightforward aftershock pair.

Kīlauea provides the clearest new volcanic information. HVO’s 20:16 UTC bulletin documents five new vents since September 14 local time, with three feeding active lava flows at the time of reporting.

Vent 5 opened at 06:58 UTC on September 16. Vent 2 reactivated at 10:30 UTC, producing a small dome fountain and lava flow.

Atmospheric event

A newly published National Weather Service report confirms a daily temperature record in Memphis for September 15:

‱ Maximum: 99°F / 37.2°C, exceeding the previous September 15 record of 98°F.
‱ Minimum: 77°F / 25°C, approximately 6.1°C above normal.

The report was issued at 06:46 UTC on September 16. The measurements themselves precede the starting cutoff. This is newly published confirmation of earlier heat, not a new overnight temperature event.

The previously reported heat observations from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, Colombia and Peru remain part of the wider chronology. They are not counted again as new observations here.

The Gulf of Aden event brings activity into the Arabia–Somalia spreading and transform system, one of the western watch areas. Its location alone does not identify whether this particular rupture involved opening or sideways movement.

Guatemala adds activity along the Pacific margin of Central America. Ecuador’s intermediate-depth event and the Colombian earthquakes involve different depths and locations. They should not be combined into a single shallow displacement or assumed to form one aftershock sequence.

The China event adds another geographically separate location. It cannot automatically be classified as a fresh release at the India–Himalaya “brake.”

Two earlier events are kept separate from the seven-event count: M4.5 southwest of Bengkulu at 16:12:49 UTC on September 15, and M4.7 northeast of Yonakuni at 21:00:35 UTC. Both precede the cutoff. The source describes Aswan’s value as Egypt’s highest September temperature. These measurements and record rankings were not independently verified in this scan. The same report mentions minima above 35°C without sufficient station detail to assign them confidently.

Additional reports concern earlier observations. Natagaima, Colombia, reportedly reached 43.0°C on September 14, while Ábrego recorded 33.8°C, described as a September record. Rica Playa, Peru, reportedly recorded a minimum of 26.2°C, described as the country’s highest September minimum. The Peru report refers to recent days without resolving the exact observation date in its text.

These are newly published reports, not necessarily new measurements since the previous cutoff.

Its location and intermediate depth are consistent with activity in the subducting Nazca slab beneath northwestern Argentina. No focal mechanism was retrieved. Although approximately 78 km from the September 13 Cafayate-area M4.7, the large depth difference means it should not be treated as a straightforward aftershock.

A smaller event continues the Indonesian chronology:

The overlap check also identified an earlier reviewed M4.5 east of Lospalos, Timor-Leste, at 14:16:11 UTC today, depth 10 km. It predates the previous cutoff and is not a second new M4.5+ event in this interval. It adds shallow activity to the wider Banda–Timor sequence.

The strongest new volcanic information comes from Kīlauea. HVO’s 20:48 UTC bulletin reports that new vents near the northwest wall of Halemaʻumaʻu began erupting shortly before 07:00 UTC today and continued feeding a small lava flow.

This activity began before the previous cutoff and is newly documented here. No fountaining accompanied the new vents. Summit inflation stalled shortly after they opened, while spattering continued at the established vents. WATCH/ORANGE remains unchanged, and episode 55 high fountaining remains unconfirmed.

Wobble phase

Norbert is now a confirmed post-tropical remnant low. At 15:00 UTC, its sustained winds were 35 mph and central pressure was 1007 mb. The final public advisory was issued, with no coastal watches or warnings.

Fifteen-E remained a tropical depression at 35 mph and 1005 mb. Its latest advisory forecasts little change in strength. The earlier possibility of strengthening into a named storm has not materialized in the retrieved observations.

Further unusually warm nights were reported across several regions:

‱ Mexico: Salina Cruz 30.0°C, Arriaga 29.5°C and Coatzacoalcos 27.0°C.
‱ Guyana: Lethem 26.9°C.
‱ French Guiana: Cayenne and Saint-Laurent 25.3°C, Saint-Georges 25.0°C and Maripasoula 24.7°C.
‱ Costa Rica: Limón 25.0°C.
‱ Malaysia: Kuantan 27.4°C.

These were reported as September high-minimum records by Extreme Temperatures Around the World. Exact station observation times and record rankings were not independently verified in this scan.

Poso, Indonesia, was also reported at 36.0°C. This repeats a previously reported value and should not be described as a newly higher maximum.

Regional easing remains part of the picture. The New York-area forecast continues to describe drier, cooler conditions and no hazardous weather through Thursday.

The Tual-area event continues intermediate-depth activity within the wider Banda system. It occurred approximately 171 km from the September 11 Banda–Timor M5.9. This supports regional recurrence, but does not establish a direct aftershock relationship.

The Panguna-area event occurred approximately 311 km from the September 14 Gizo M5.2. It adds shallow activity south of Bougainville to the continuing southwest Pacific sequence. It remains distinct from the deeper Lae earthquake in the previous update.

Smaller events included M3.81 southwest of Ucluelet, Canada, M4.3 near Kaktovik in northern Alaska, M4.0 east of Chignik and M3.6 west-southwest of Adak.

A correction to the earlier chronology is also needed: a reviewed M4.5 northeast of Simao, China, occurred on September 14 at 09:07:29 UTC, at 10 km depth. This was absent from the earlier reports. It predates this interval and is not a third new earthquake.

The worldwide scan found no new M4.5+ events outside Indonesia and the southwest Pacific during this interval. The preceding Mexican, Colombian, Japanese and southwest Pacific events remain part of the multi-day record.

Volcanic activity continues at Ibu, Dukono and Semeru, with retrieved ash heights of approximately 2.4, 2.1 and 4.6 km above sea level respectively. These heights do not establish a new escalation. Great Sitkin continues slow lava effusion, while Kīlauea’s episode 55 high fountaining remains unconfirmed in the retrieved updates.

Wobble phase

The two new earthquakes were separated by 5 hours 27 minutes 6 seconds. This describes their timing, not a demonstrated transfer between systems.

Norbert has weakened into a tropical depression. At 03:00 UTC on September 15, its sustained winds were 35 mph, with pressure at 1006 mb. This compares with 40 mph and 1005 mb in the previous update. Further weakening into a remnant low remained a forecast.

Tropical Depression Fifteen-E also remained at 35 mph, with pressure at 1005 mb. It was still poorly organized and had not reached tropical-storm strength in the latest retrieved bulletin. Neither system had coastal watches or warnings.

A new specialist report listed September maximum-temperature records in India: Bengaluru Airport 34.2°C, Bengaluru 33.1°C, Karwar 34.8°C and Anantapur 38.7°C. These remain attributed reports, with exact observation times and record rankings not independently verified.

An official preliminary Memphis summary for September 14 reported a maximum of 97°F / 36.1°C and a minimum of 78°F / 25.6°C. The minimum was 11°F / 6.1°C above normal. This documents the preceding day rather than a new September 15 nighttime observation.

Regional easing also matters. The New York-area weather discussion describes dry conditions and overnight cooling following the earlier flood-producing weather.

In Colombia, the 21:13 M4.9 occurred approximately 16.5 km from the previously reported 20:02 M4.9, after 1 hour 11 minutes 12 seconds. The subsequent M4.6 was approximately 9.6 km from the 21:13 earthquake. These events support continuing local activity around SipĂ­ rather than separate steps in a global relay.

Two additional Colombian events were identified before the previous cutoff: M4.5 at 14:57 UTC and M4.6 at 20:08 UTC on September 14. These complete the earlier chronology and are not included in the six new earthquakes.

Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and the Loyalty Islands region all registered intermediate-depth events. The Tadine-area earthquake was approximately 149 km from the September 13 Loyalty Islands M5.0, at a similar depth. This supports broader regional recurrence without establishing a direct aftershock relationship.

A smaller M4.4 southwest of Pelabuhanratu occurred at 23:09 UTC, approximately 64 km from the earlier shallow M5.5. Both were listed at 10 km depth, making local or regional adjustment plausible.

The global scan found no new M4.5+ earthquakes in the North American, Alaska–Japan, India–Himalayan, Indian Ocean/African, Atlantic–Mediterranean or southern polar sectors during this interval.

At 15:00 UTC, Norbert had sustained winds of 40 mph and a pressure of 1005 mb, compared with 45 mph and 1002 mb at 03:00 UTC. Tropical Depression Fifteen-E remained at 35 mph and 1006 mb. Forecast strengthening into a tropical storm had not yet occurred in that bulletin.

New specialist reports included minimum temperatures of:

‱ Jaisalmer, India: 30.6°C.
‱ Kudat, Malaysia: 27.7°C.
‱ Pontianak, Indonesia: 26.0°C.
‱ Puerto Peñasco, Mexico: 30.8°C.

Tobelo’s published moment tensor indicates predominantly reverse faulting. Its intermediate depth points to compression within the subduction system. The later shallow Labuha event represents a different depth setting.

The Gizo earthquake adds the Solomon Islands to the continuing southwest Pacific activity. Colombia’s earthquake occurred approximately 12 km from the September 12 Sipí-area event, making continued local sequence activity plausible.

A smaller M4.2 east of Fiji, approximately 596 km deep, also remains relevant to the wider Pacific picture.

Repeated regional activity and further M5-class releases support continued seismic activity across successive days. Some events may belong to local sequences, particularly Colombia. They should not all be counted as independent steps in a global relay.

The Continental Drift interpretation remains under consideration, without an upgrade from this interval alone. Likewise, the Indonesian events do not by themselves establish a specific India Plate Brake or Ricochet response.

The two-layer comparison remains active: earthquakes across several systems alongside persistent heat in several regions. Norbert’s weakening and Kīlauea’s delayed fountaining also belong in that picture.

Location

Flores and southern Java, Indonesia; Taiwan; the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge; Fiji; Argentina; and the eastern Pacific.

Atmospheric event

Tropical Depression Fifteen-E is an addition to this tracking update. At 03:00 UTC, NHC reported sustained winds of 35 mph, central pressure of 1,006 mb and a position southwest of Baja California at 17.0°N, 118.3°W.

NHC forecast possible tropical-storm development, but this strengthening was not yet observed in the retrieved advisory. Its formation time was not established in this scan, so it should not automatically be counted as forming after the previous cutoff.

Norbert remained at 45 mph and 1,002 mb at 03:00 UTC, unchanged from 21:00 UTC. Two tropical systems are therefore being tracked in the eastern Pacific, without evidence of rapid intensification in these advisories.

Updated reporting of Sunday’s northeastern US flooding describes rainfall reaching seven inches, approximately 178 mm, in some Connecticut communities. This refines the earlier rainfall picture rather than representing a new overnight storm.

No additional station-specific heat or nighttime-minimum reports appeared in the specialist feed checked. The earlier reports remain part of the multi-day record.

Plate event

Five new reviewed M4.5+ earthquakes were recorded:

The Ruteng pair provides the clearest local continuation. The earthquakes were approximately 8.6 km apart, separated by 2 hours 13 minutes 46 seconds. Their proximity and matching catalogued depths make the smaller event a plausible local aftershock.

The M5.1 also occurred approximately 34.5 km from the 12 September M4.6 north-northeast of Ruteng. This strengthens the finding of repeated activity around northern Flores.

The Dampit earthquake adds another release south of Java. Its 33.4 km depth distinguishes it from the earlier Java Sea M6.5 at 372 km. These are separate events in different depth settings.

The northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge M5.4 is the largest new event in this interval and adds an Atlantic boundary to the overnight picture. No moment-tensor solutions were returned for any of the five earthquakes. The ridge event therefore cannot yet be assigned specifically to extension or an associated transform fault, and it does not measure a change in spreading speed.

Smaller reviewed activity included M4.4 south of Fiji at 438.2 km depth and M4.4 in northwestern Argentina at 189 km depth.

All ten global sectors were checked. Indonesia is active again, while the India–Himalaya, Madagascar–Indian Ocean and Aden–Red Sea corridors added no new M4.5+ events.

Volcanic emissions also continue. Ibu had an ash observation at 03:40 UTC reaching FL080, approximately 2.4 km above sea level. Dukono had an observation at 04:10 UTC reaching FL070, approximately 2.1 km. These match the previously reported heights.

Kīlauea’s latest retrieved bulletin remains the 13 September report of 104 cumulative precursory overflows, continued inflation and reduced overflow frequency. No newer confirmation of episode 55’s main fountaining onset was found.

Wobble phase

Precise wobble phases remain unassigned because independent contemporaneous markers are missing. The known earthquake times alone cannot establish those phases.

ZetaTalk connection

For the “8 of 10” and tectonic Continental Drift tracking, the strongest additions are repeated activity around Flores and a release on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

The rolling sequence now includes successive activity around Japan, Vanuatu, Indonesia, South America and the Atlantic. This strengthens the record of regional recurrence and activity across multiple boundaries.

The Ruteng pair probably includes a local aftershock, so it should not be counted as two independent plate-transfer events. Likewise, a ridge earthquake does not by itself establish faster Atlantic separation.

Indonesian recurrence is relevant to the eastern side of the India Plate Brake framework, but the missing western-corridor connection remains unresolved. No direct Ricochet chain is established.

The broader sequence continues, with greater geographic spread in this interval. The proposed transition toward tectonic Continental Drift remains a working interpretation, without a new displacement measurement establishing that transition.
