Two people were reported killed by the torrent of water in Chosica, a town east of the capital of Lima last Thursday 5th of April 2012.
Now frightening footage has been posted online showing the huge wall of water sweeping down the steep, rocky hill before smashing into the houses.
Screams are heard as the wall of water slams into the shanty houses, flattening them and sending massive pieces of debris down to the bottom of the valley.
The water pours over the roofs of some of the buildings, while others are wiped out altogether.
The cameraman was standing in relative safety on higher ground on the other side of the town.
Another 24 people were injured in by the flash flood and ensuing landslide, while 96 homes were destroyed
