Without electricity has 30,000 customers Elektro Ljubljana. Supply is interrupted due to failure of 1297 substations in the area of ​​Christchurch, Logatec, Vrhnika, Žirov, Kočevja, Ribnica Dobrepolje, Kamnik, Grosuplje, Domale, Zagorje, Tacna, Šentjernej and Trebnjega.

Slovenia is not alone in facing emergency situations due to the horrible winter weather. Serious problems have also in Croatia and Serbia. In Serbia, on Saturday stuck on the road about a thousand people, these are the evening only failed to resolve. But authorities without the aid of tanks, as well as police and military helicopters could not have succeeded. Under the snow is still trapped about 200 vehicles. That have delivered food and water.
 
On tracks are stuck some trains. The international route Belgrade-Budapest and on the track Dragon-Vrbas are stuck two international train with hundreds of passengers. In the rescue operation were sent to the Serbian army, which was abolished on the ground with their heavy machinery.

SITUATION

* Snow and freezing rain affected Slovenia since 31 January causing extensive damage to the electricity and transportation networks in most regions of the country.

* On 2 February, Slovenian authorities reported that around 80 000 client sites country-wide experienced power outages (approx. 10% of the population). Worst affected was the south-west region of Notranjska (Notranjsko-Kraska), where in the districts of Postojna and Pivka homes have been without electricity since 31 January.

* On the same day, Slovenian Civil protection reported also severe situation with respect to power and transport in Mozirje, in the valley of Velenje, and in Cerkno. Extensive power outages occurred also in the area of the capital Ljubljana.

* On 3 February, Slovenian media reported persisting power problems in Gorenjska, Koroska, Podravska, Notranjska and the capital area. See map for details and reports by the Power provider companies.

* On 2 February, Slovenian Civil Protection requested electricity generators through the Union Civil Protection Mechanism. Austria (27 units), Czech Republic (1 unit) and Germany (3 units) have already offered and they are deploying assistance. Additional offers from Germany, Romania and Poland are currently being considered by Slovenian authorities.

* For the next 2 days, Slovenian Meteo expects slight improvement with possible snowfall, however, in the centre and NW of the country. Red Alert for avalanches has been issued for the NW of the country.

Unprecedented levels of devastation. 250.000 people without electricity.

 

75% of school closed. In some parts of the country the power grid is devastated. In some towns every single tree in the vicinity damaged in some way, some of them completely broken/fallen down.

 

 

Electric generators coming in from neighbouring countries; there isn't a single generator available to buy, every single one is sold out.

 

 

The government appealed for international help. Power lines there were fixed are broken again, due to the ice. Acoording to the forests office, 50% of all forests suffered some kind of damage.

 

 

Problems with water supply. Some villages have been cut off from the world for days. May people saying they haven't seen anything like this in their entire lifetimes.
