My question is regarding the YouTube strange sounds video posted by Gerard yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUdZGm476yA On the Strange Sounds blog I posted a response as follows: Not trying to discredit anyone on the Montana video/audio. I believe what is recorded. But I'd really be interested in Zeta feedback on it because it reminds me of what happened in Close Encounters of the Third Kind - the musical sounds that the spacecraft emitted. The sound produced in Missoula is what is called in music a major seventh chord. In the key of C it would be C-E-G-B; in this case with an extra underlying G as the first note. I have a hard time believing that anything in nature could create this without help - possibly ET help. The notes are played separately up the scale/chord and then down the scale/chord. Could the Zetas please comment on what the source might be?

Missoula lies in a valley between mountain ranges that are riddled with rivers draining the steep mountain sides. If Kiev has multi-tonal trumpets because the reservoir is vibrating, and Belarus has horns because the river there is vibrating, then why should Missoula be exempt? The regions where the vibrating Earth plays music are where water is being vibrated. Elsewhere, it sounds like a roar, like Godzilla rising from the sea and roaming the land. Noise is sound where every frequency is heard. Music is controlled such that harmonics, or coinciding or duplicating frequencies are heard.
That several distinct tones were heard in Missoula, each in turn, only means that the body of water producing them increased its frequency from tone to tone. In Kiev, chords were heard, as more than one arm of the reservoir was set to vibrating. The thrumming or fan beating sound that preceded the Missoula tones was the rock layers being pulled apart, as the N American continent is being pulled into a bow, as we have often explained. As the jerking apart and rebound of the underlying rock layers picked up the pace, the pitchof the music the nearby river produced climbed. Simple as that.

Where initially only a hum, and only in certain notorious parts of the world, rock under stress has become noisy. Known as the Taos hum, the sound of a diesel engine running somewhere underground was an early entry. Then the Seattle drums entered the arena, rhythmic booming which was ascribed to flapping manhole covers. Booms from snapping and heaving rock were reported in the New Madrid region and humming along the St. Lawrence Seaway increased.
But in 2011, it became clear that where we predicted that the Earth would moan during the 5.9 days of rotation stoppage, it was not going to be silent between then and now. The trumpets of Kiev and the horns of Belarus went viral on the Internet, followed quickly by a roar over Tampa Bay that sounded like Godzilla emerging from the sea. Now, in early 2012, this has spread to the drums of Costa Rica and the howl of Alberta and the Borneo snore.
Where is this leading? At least half the Earth, at any given point in time, will be having some sort of tension in its rock. Clapping and grinding fault lines, vibrating bodies of water, trembling rock strata resisting being pulled apart, and snapping rock under compression or being bent. All will be noisy, and the most likely reaction among those who hear it will be to conclude that the End Times have arrived. However known in various cultures around the world, allhave some reference to the coming times. The establishment will be unable to explain away these sounds, and once again the Internet will be sought and will lead inevitably to our explanations.

Ronny Quintero, a seismologist said the event should be studied at the exact time and location of the anomalies to determine with certainty that there was no earthquake. He added that depending on the location of those who claim they heard the rumble or ”The Hum” it is easy to dismiss the possibility of tectonic movements.
This news has rattled the social web whereas Costa Ricans and the world over are scrambling to figure out what this mysterious sound could have been. Authorities have yet to comment on the subject although OVSICORI, the Costa Rica Volcanologist and Seismologist Organization is saying there is no Earth movements recorded at the time of the strange sound.

The Costa Rica Volcanologist and Seismologist Organization is saying there is no Earth movements recorded at the time of the strange sound.

There is a subset of the Caribbean Plate called the Panama Plate, though this subset moves as one with the Caribbean Plate. Nevertheless, there is a fault line running through Costa Rica, and during the incessant pressure of the slow moving S American roll fault lines can pull apart and bang back together again, like clapping. As the recent cold spells in India reveal, the N Pole of Earth is pushed violently away when the Sun is over New Zealand and the magnetic N Pole of Earth (currently over Siberia) comes up over the horizon. This equates to midnight in Costa Rica, which is when the drums were heard. Residents there should get used to these midnight drums, which will be with them for some time.

Did You Hear a BIG BOOM in the Area of Smyrna Monday Night?
WGNS has received multiple phone calls and emails from residents in the area of Smyrna telling us that they heard a loud “BOOM” sound Monday night. The sound was heard around 8:30 in the evening.
WGNS checked with the Smyrna Police Department where we talked to Police Chief Kevin Arnold. Arnold told us, “We received several complaints last night about that. The Sheriff’s Office also received complaints. From the log this morning it appears nothing was found.”
We then headed to the Smyrna / Rutherford County Airport. There, we were told that no “BOOM” sounds involving airplanes were reported on Monday night. Several workers there told us they did not hear the “BOOM.”
So that leaves us with the big question… What was that big “BOOM” sound that was heard Monday? It seems as if we cannot find the answer to that mystery.

Northampton 'explosions' treated as unexplained
Three "explosions" heard in the early hours of the morning in Northampton are being treated as unexplained.
Northamptonshire Fire Service investigated the separate reports in St Mary's Street, Castle Street and Silver Street but "didn't find anything".
Andy Gineikis, who lives nearby, said he heard a "loud bang" similar to a shotgun blast at about 03:30 BST.
Western Power Distribution said there had been a power cut in the Abington area of Northampton at about 04:40.
A spokesperson said it was possible that it could have produced a bang but the cause of the power cut was as yet unknown.
'Loud bang'About 900 houses lost their power but the spokesperson said all of the connections were restored by 05:20.
The fire service said the first "explosion" was reported at 02:59 in St Mary's Street, followed by a call from Castle Street at 03:34 and Silver Street at 05:19.
The roads are all close to each other.
Mr Gineikis said: "I was awake and heard a loud bang at 03:30.
"I noticed when I got up this morning that all my digital timers were flashing which usually happens if we have a power interruption."
Northamptonshire Police said the bangs were a "bit of a mystery".
Officers attended Gladstone Road at about 03:00 to investigate reports of a "loud noise". They discovered a bonfire still alight in a garden and spoke with residents.
At 03:40 a bang was reported in College Street. Officers believed it was possibly a "large firework".
A final call was received at 05:20 from the Stanley Road area but nothing untoward was found.
No investigations are ongoing.

Shattered Windows and Downed Tree in Eastern UK (June 16)
Loud booms that smashed windows and felled a tree are being blamed on a sonic boom.
Cambridgeshire Police was inundated by calls from residents who had heard two loud ‘explosions’ at about 11.30am.
The force received between tens of calls from people as far afield as Milton, St Ives, Melbourn and Bassingbourn.
One man who rang us from St Ives thought something had hit his roof because the whole house shook.
"It was so loud another person thought his neighbour's house had blown up.
"People have said they'd never heard anything so loud in their lives.
"Even people driving on the A14 have been calling us."
On the ground, startled and mystified residents ran out of their homes, concerned that the loud bang, which was heard across an area from north London to Cambridge, was the result of anything ranging from someone falling or a vehicle crashing into their home to a bomb explosion or even an earthquake.
There were reports of doors being slammed shut, windows being blown out, houses shaking and the ground moving.
Insp Matt Snow of Cambridgeshire Police told the News: “Some windows have been smashed on some houses. Part of a tree has fallen down because of it so it really has affected people.
“It’s nothing that people need to be concerned about.”

UK Mystery Booms Blamed on 'Bird Scarer' (Aug 5)
Mystified residents in Halesowen are being driven to distraction by a loud banging noise every 30 minutes for 12 hours a day.
As well as annoying human residents around Manor Way the constant loud bangs are disturbing pets and wildlife throughout the day.
David Taylor contacted the Halesowen News after being unable to find out what was making the din which the police were unable to shed light on.
He said: “Residents who live close to Manor Way are being plagued by mysterious ‘explosions’ from 8am until 9.30pm every day.
“The sounds, which sound like gun fire, occur every 20-30 minutes for over 12 hours every day, and no one seems to know what causes them.”
“In the hot weather, it means that residents in the Brier Mill Road, Chadbury Road and Cloister Drive area of Halesowen are unable to sit outside and enjoy the weather in peace and local pets and wildlife are also disturbed by the sounds.”
Carolyn Taylor added: “Enquires with Halesowen police have so far drawn a blank, and attempts by some local residents to track down this annoying sound has so far failed.”
Dudley Council’s environment team have been drafted in to get to the bottom of the mystery.
Councillor Tracy Wood, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: "We have recently received a complaint from a member of the public about a noise problem associated with rural land adjacent to Manor Way, Halesowen.
“We suspect that the noise may be due to the operation of a bird scarer.”
She added: "We are currently investigating the situation to confirm the source of the noise and to assess its impact on local residents, once this investigation is complete we will be in a position to assess the appropriate action to take in the matter.”

Neighbors keep hearing mysterious ‘boom’ near Carytown
RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Some people living on Grayland Avenue near Carytown told CBS 6 they have heard a mysterious boom sound for the past few months.
“It’s like a boom that has an echo to it,” said Thomas Daniel who lives near Grayland Avenue and S. Sheppard Street.
Daniel told CBS 6 news reporter Chelsea Rarrick that he hears the mystery sound periodically, sometimes even a few times a week. He said he first heard it while sitting on his front porch around 2 a.m.
“You think sometimes it’s like a train backing into another train,” said Daniel
Sarah Barrow also lives on Grayland Ave. and heard a boom for the first time this week around 10 or 11 p.m.
“The front right window shook, which made me realize it’s more than just a backfire from a truck on a highway,” she said.
CBS 6 contacted the Richmond Police Department regarding the noise. RPD said they have received a couple of reports regarding the sounds in the area, but can’t confirm what it is since an officer didn’t hear the sound.
“Where is this coming from?” said Daniel.

Mystery Boom Rocks Stretford UK (Oct 6)
A mysterious explosion shook houses in Stretford this evening, sending people running out into the street.
People living near Talbot Road and Kings Road reported an explosion which rattled window frames and set off burglar alarms.
The sound was thought to have come from near the Longford Park - but emergency services said they had no reports of any incidents.
People living in the area reported hearing the massive bang around 8pm, with people going out into the road to see what had happened.
But police, ambulance and fire services all said they had no record of any incidents in the area which could explain the explosion.
People took to Twitter to try to find out what had happened.
Claire Moloney, @pugmadol, tweeted: "What was the huge explosion that rocked Kings Road in Stretford... It set alarms off, shook our windows. Numerous people came out onto the street.
Chris Etty, @chrisetty also tweeted: "It was very loud, people came out of their houses - we heard it very clearly."

Mystery noise causes misery across the county
THE mystery surrounding a strange noise that is keeping people awake at night has taken a new twist.
Southampton residents say they are being plagued by the same sound that is making life a misery for people living on the eastern edge of the New Forest.
As revealed in yesterday’s Daily Echo, the low-frequency drone is causing sleepless nights in Hythe, Holbury and Dibden Purlieu.
One woman has resorted to visiting a friend in a bid to escape the din.
Another is said to be considering early retirement after being badly affected by the stress of living with the noise.
Now people living in Southampton and West End have come forward to report similar problems.
Gordon Windebank, 82, of Broadlands Road, Swaythling, said: “It’s driving me mad.
“It started with a low rumble about 18 months ago and has been getting steadily worse since last Sunday. I notice it when I go to bed at 10.30pm and it still seems to be going on when I get up the next morning.”
Mr Windebank has been prescribed sleeping pills by his doctor and says he may be forced to go back for more.
“The noise is terrible at night,” he said. “I’ve got double glazing but it just seems to go right through.
“It’s making me very bad tempered and I don’t seem to have any energy.”
The sound has also been heard in Romsey, but neither Test Valley Borough Council nor Southampton City Council have received any complaints.
New Forest residents affected by the all-night noise include Roger Guy, a member of Hythe and Dibden Parish Council.
Cllr Guy, who has an engineering background, said: “It’s a low frequency droning noise that becomes quite obtrusive at night.

Mystery Humming Noise Plagues More UK Residents (Oct 18)
Earlier this week, Southampton residents complained of a mystery humming noise. Turns out residents to the east in Hythe Village are also being kept awake at night.
The noise started in August and now Hampshire County Council and the Environment Agency is trying to work out where it is coming from.
Val Caachi, who lives and works close to Hythe, told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "It's a pulsing, vibrating sort of sound, like a turbine."
"You can't ignore it - it's pulsing in your head. It sounds ridiculous but it does keep you awake all night."

Strange Sounds Heard Over Saskatoon SK (Nov 9)
Ernie Werezak can't explain the noises he recorded in Saskatoon Saturday morning.
"I have never heard anything like this in my life,"
"It was a loud noise coming probably from northeast Saskatoon. It seemed like it was in the air.”
Werezak's video isn't the only one on YouTube featuring strange sounds in Saskatoon – there are several.
Last winter, similar sounds were also recorded in North Battleford.

Mystery Boom and Strange Lights Over Montreal QC (Nov 26)
Officials in the off-island towns, as well as at the Sûreté du Québec, were flummoxed, leaving residents who heard the noise to wonder what happened.
"It's been heard all over the region but no details," wrote Greg Patterson. "My opinion is that it was a meteor hitting the atmosphere with sonic boom."
"Felt like an explosion, or a 'short' earthquake," Faith MacLeod said on Off Island Gazette's Facebook page. "Stepped outside and neighbours were out wondering what it was."
Residents from Pincourt to Pointe-Claire and Pierrefonds reported hearing the sound. On social media, it was even reported as far away as Ormstown and Cornwall, Ont.
St-Lazare mayor Robert Grimaudo said he had no idea what the source of the explosion was.
Nor did the SQ, nor Environment Canada.
Nothing in the weather patterns in the area could be to blame, least of all the snow that began to fall around the same time, an Environment Canada spokesperson said.
Tracy Moore was at home in St-Lazare with her boyfriend and heard and felt something strange around 8 p.m.
"It was just this boom. It lasted a few seconds."
"People felt their house shaking and thought a tree had landed on it. The dogs were freaking out. My girlfriend in Cornwall, her husband works for Ontario Hydro and he saw this flash of light in the sky.
"He says he never saw anything like it before — and he works for Hydro!"

Old Mystic Fire Chief Kenneth Richards Jr.’s Lantern Hill Road home “physically shook,” at 9:09 this morning: “That was the loudest, the first one.” But there would be two more “just incredible, boom, like explosions,” in the next thirty minutes. The 911 calls came in one after the other, he said, from Al Harvey Road in Stonington to Cow Hill Road in Groton.
“Even residents on River Road in Groton felt it. They said plates fell off kitchen cabinets and pictures fell off the walls,” Richard said.
So what happened this morning? What were the tremors and booms that rattled, literally, folks?
“Nothing worse when I can’t tell the people what happened. I just have no idea,” he said.
And he’s checked.
Richards said Homeland Security has confirmed there was no military activity (flyovers of aircraft, for example) that could have caused the sounds) and he said there was no seismic activity.
And, Richards said, despite suggestions it may have been construction blasting, he said there are “no permits for blasting around here. We checked.”
“We have no reports of homes being damaged by these booms and no reports of electricity being out,” he said. “There are no incidents that people have reported that would be the cause of these loud noises.”Area residents said they heard three loud booms each about 15 minutes apart, beginning at about 9:15 a.m. Friday.
“I’ve never been in an earthquake, but the third one felt like what I think an earthquake would feel like,” Nancy Peta, of Old Mystic, said. “It sounded like a propane tank had exploded, or a plane crash.”
Peta said the booms shook her house and prompted neighbors to congregate on the street to see if anyone knew what had happened. She said she did not notice any smoke in the area.
State police from Troop E were sweeping the area, including Ledyard and North Stonington, a spokesman said, but hadn’t found the source for the reports of an explosion.
Desmond said police officers and firefighters are still investigating.
At 9:18 a.m., the Old Mystic Fire Department tweeted that firefighters were dispatched to 24 Main St. for a reported explosion.
“We are dealing with a situation in Old Mystic concerning possible explosions,” Stonington First Selectman Ed Haberek wrote on Facebook. He said the police and fire departments were on scene investigating.
A spokeswoman from Connecticut Light & Power said the utility company did not have any problems with its equipment in the area.

Mysterious Booms & Lights Reported in Kentucky (Dec 18)
The Montgomery County dispatch says they got a few hundred calls from people reporting hearing several loud noises, and some people reported seeing flashes of lights.
Deputies spent Wednesday night searching for a cause, but found nothing. Authorities checked with local pipeline companies, who reported having no issues. Emergency management officials say there was no earthquake activity in the region.

Do they really think that we are that stupid??? Honestly, while I don't argue that ice may cause loud booms in outdoor electric breakers and ice, the fact that this covers much of southern Ontario would tell you that it has more to do with the St. Lawrence seaway rip then ice expanding and melting. Its like Canada doesn't experience snow every year!

Mysterious Booms Rattle Central Virginia (Jan 5)
Some call them booms while others referred to them as explosions. Some said the noises were so intense that they rattled their homes.
“It’s a loud, loud boom,” Clint Lanier, who lives in Chesterfield County, told CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil. “It’ ain’t no shotgun and it ain’t no kind of gun. It’s like an explosion.”
Sgt. Rob Ruxer with Colonial Heights police said dispatchers received at least three calls just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday from citizens in separate areas of the city about a loud noise.
“There was a large boom. I thought it was thunder,” Kelsey Barnes of Colonial Heights said. “It kind of shook the house a little bit, but I have no idea what it was.”
Officials have not been able to tie the booms to one specific area, but they have been reported for the past several weeks.
“Well it definitely grabs your attention and you think, ‘why on earth is that going on at this time?” said Carolyn Thompson of Colonial Heights.
Those who have heard the boom said it does not happen again for several days – and the sound varies.
John Thompson, who heard the boom In Colonial Heights, said it sounded like a Sonic Boom from a jet. He said he did not think it was fireworks because there was only one boom.
Colonial Heights residents Susan Crane, who also lives in, said she was watching TV when she heard the boom Sunday.
“I’ve heard it numerous times,” Crane said. “I usually get up and look out my door, like I’m going to see something, but there’s nothing to see.”
CBS 6 News checked area surveillance cameras across the city and could not find sign of the boom. With every recurrence, there has been no revelation about what or who is behind them.
Colonial Heights Fire Chief A.G. Moore said his department does not have any additional leads about what is actually the noise folks are hearing from Chester to southern Chesterfield and Colonial Heights.
On social media there is a lot of speculation about what could be causing the booms.
But CBS 6 has determined the booms are not coming from Fort Lee or Fort Picket. It was not the rock quarry in Dinwiddie or Chesterfield. Additionally, it was not a transformer or a sonic boom.

More Mysterious Booms in Central Virginia (Jan 11)
Area residents are wondering what's been causing loud booming sounds that have been heard throughout the region.
"We had calls from the 1700 block of Westover Avenue this morning," Petersburg Police spokeswoman Esther Hyatt said. She added that officers cleared up from the area when nothing was detected that would have caused the sound.
She added that others at the Petersburg Bureau of Police said that they heard the same noise this morning in Colonial Heights and that some had heard the sound last week and thought perhaps "it was military-related."
But, officials at Fort Lee say it isn't their doing.
"We're not the source of the booms," said Stephen Baker, Fort Lee Public Affairs Officer. "We do sometimes do training at the range on post which sometimes involves the use of small explosives or simulators but nothing to the magnitude of what's been heard."
Additionally, Baker added that he had heard from members of the community asking whether similar sounds that were heard over the holidays originated on post. "But, our range was closed over the holidays and we only resumed training earlier this week," Baker said.
Colonial Heights Police Sgt. Rob Ruxer said that the department didn't receive any calls about the loud noise Friday morning, but that some calls were received on the evening of Jan. 5.
"We have no idea of the source," Ruxer said. While the police didn't receive any official reports on the noise, he said the sound had been heard around 6 a.m. Friday on Covington Road.

Mystery Boom Heard Across East Yorkshire UK (Jan 9)
Baffled families were woken by a mysterious loud bang heard across East Yorkshire early this morning. Dozens of people from Hull to Withernsea took to social media after hearing the noise echo through the skies at about 3.30am.
Others posted about the sound from as far away as Cleethorpes and Derby. Many believed a thunderclap was to blame but the Met Office said there was no storm in the area at the time.
Writing on the Mail's Facebook page, Alan Key said the noise "woke us up and scared us to death. People say it was thunder but to me it sounded more like an explosion."
Friends in Beverley and west Hull told Mr Key they also heard the sound. Karen Holdstock, who lives in the Greatfield estate, said it woke her too.
Michelle Ketley posted saying she was frightened by how sudden it was.
She wrote: "I've been thinking about it all morning. I was shaking when it woke me up and I'm not scared of thunder at all. It was very bizarre."
Sharing her experience with a friend, Corrine in Derby wrote: "I think it was just the one time but it was unreal. Never heard anything like it in my life."
Met Office forecasters reviewed satellite images for the Mail and said although cloud cover at the time suggested there had been rain, there was no evidence of stormy weather or lightning strikes.
A spokeswoman said: "I can't really see anything that would indicate a thunderstorm. The satellite shows banks of cloud going over but I can't see anything that would cause a loud bang."

Mystery Booms Reported in Southwestern Iowa (Jan 15)
People are taking to Facebook, wondering what is causing loud boom noises in the western portion of Council Bluffs. For, Kathy Batie, it's been happening once a week for about two and a half months.
Council Bluffs Police say they've responded to a few calls for loud booms, but when they go out to investigate, they find nothing.
Still, people are convinced something is going on.

Alabama Booms Remain a Mystery (Jan 16)
They were initially thought to be coming from an area fossil plant, but local authorities said later that was not the case.
Police said they spoke with Tennessee Valley Authority officials who reported the plant was not the cause.

Jan 18, 2014 @2-4 pm in Sarasota Florida - BOOOOOOM! I can't believe I heard it & thought oh it must be a plane. Clearest bluest sky, not single thing in sky but sun. Later that evening over dinner I asked my friend if she heard a loud boom early & she jumped up from the table 'you heard it too! From here??' She was at her work about 8 miles away & was with about 15 people inside a car dealership. They ALL went outside to the garage to see if a car fell off a lift or something & about 10 people more had heard it also! Everyone brushed it off as a meteorite breaking thru atmosphere bc there wasn't any planes in the sky. Amazed they even considered a meteorite! After dinner I searched online to see if any meteorites were reported & called the sheriffs office to report it and inquire if any other calls had come in regarding a loud boom lasting several minutes kind of like a low flying 747 airplane or a longer lasting sonic boom. Nothing! But myself and about 30 others in different locations heard it! We noticed the moon was a late riser & Orion constellation was higher in the sky compared to night before... Told my friend boom was from earth movements & showed her the clutch of articles here, her mouth was still hanging open when she left bewildered! But was at least relaxed of having a better idea what the loud long boom was from.

Loud Booms Heard Across Western Kentucky (Jan 18)
Livingston County Emergency Management Director Brent Stringer has confirmed that what can be described as 'loud booms' were heard in Calvert City, Ledbetter, and Reidland, Kentucky late in the evening.
Law enforcement are currently patrolling the area to track down the source of the booms and want the public to call their local authorities if they have any information.

Another Mystery Boom in Central Virginia (Jan 19)
Following reports of unexplained booms on Jan 5 and Jan 11, there was another report on Sunday of a loud boom in Colonial Heights.
One blast was heard just after 4 p.m. at a home near the Colonial Heights-Chester line.
“This time it shook the house!”
Ruth J Perry said she heard a “loud, explosion-type sound” on Chesterfield County’s southside.
Diana Penn, who said this is the third boom she has heard this month, said the latest one at 4:10 p.m. was the closed one she has felt.
In fact, Penn said the first two blasts were from the southwest. She said Sunday’s boom sounded closer — as if it was from the southeast and did not have the telltale rumble sound afterward,.
The latest boom was heard on the southside of Chesterfield County, Prince George, Ettrick, Matoaca and the Shepherd Stadium, Sherwood Hills and Tussing neighborhoods in Colonial Heights, according to social media reports.

Jan 27th Update: Although local media subsequently presented the cover-up's feeble tannerite explanation, these booms were reported as far as 100 miles away from Colonial Heights. A tannerite detonation cannot accomplish this.

Unexplained Booms Continue to Rock Kentucky and Illinois, Residents Want Answers (Jan 19)
For the past two days, people in Kentucky and Illinois have reported hearing loud, jolting booms.
More than 500 comments on Facebook were posted on Jan 19 from people who say they have all heard and felt the same thing in counties across western Kentucky and southern Illinois. Public safety officials are trying to figure out what's causing the noise while people brace themselves for the next big boom.
Leon Cunningham has been living in Livingston County for more than 25 years and says he's familiar with the sights and sounds in his neighborhood. But, over the weekend, he heard something different. He said, "It was just... boom! I mean, you could hear it. It was loud." It was also jarring. "It just shook this whole neighborhood and shook all these houses. In here, stuff rattled on the shelves."
After all the trinkets settled, the rumors started. "Everybody was coming out in the neighborhood wondering what's going on. I've even had people say, 'Are we being invaded?'" One of many questions that there aren't any answers for yet. "We have no idea if there's going to be another one this evening, today, this afternoon, or what. We don't know how long this is going to continue or anything. Nobody does," said Cunningham.
It's a mystery making noise in communities and leaving people on pins and needles. Livingston County Emergency Management Director Brent Stringer said all of the rumors have been ruled out. The booms are not being caused by weather, seismic activity, rock quarries, gun shows, or explosives. Stringer said his office will continue chasing the booms until they figure out what they are.

Mysterious Booms Rattle South Carolina (Jan 20)
Dozens of residents called 911 Monday night to report the sounds of explosions in the Chesnee area.
People in the Chesnee and Mayo area of Spartanburg County reported hearing loud booms around 9 p.m. Monday. Some residents reported that their windows rattled, making some dogs bark.
One resident said she had trouble getting through to 911 because so many other people were calling about the noise.
According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, deputies and firefighters were dispatched to the areas where the calls were made from to see if they could locate the source of the sounds or any damage.
Deputies said they have not been able to locate the source of the noise.

Loud Boom Felt and Heard in Northeast Oklahoma (Jan 25)
The "it" in this case was a very loud boom that was heard and felt at about 8 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014. Moments after it happened, the News On 6 social media accounts were jammed with people wanting to know if anyone else had heard and felt it.
Residents of several Rogers County towns report hearing a loud "boom" Saturday night, but there are no reports of any explosion or public safety issue, according to authorities.
People in Claremore, Catoosa, Inola Verdigris and Pryor have called in or written to report hearing and feeling the noise.
News On 6 contacted Rogers County Sheriff's Office, Mayes County Sheriff's Office and Claremore Police who say no explosions have been reported or found, but received many calls reporting the loud booming noise.

Unexplained Booms in Missouri and Illinois (Feb 3)
Residents in St. Francois County heard Jarring noises that sounded like gunshots and fireworks all night long early Monday.
Dave and Charlene Hagerty live in Ter du Lac and between midnight and six Monday morning they heard all sorts of loud noises.
She posted her experience on Facebook and found out at least a half dozen people across St. Francois County heard similar things in Bonne Terre, Park Hills, Farmington and Ter du Lac.
She did some research on the internet and discovered what they all heard may have been frost quakes.
Similar noises have also been heard near Quincy, Illinois, as well as nearby Hannibal, Missouri and as far south as St. Louis in recent days (all of which are located on the ever-widening Mississippi River).

Mysterious Noises & Vibrations in Chicago (Feb 3)
Residents in Hyde Park have reported a strange trembling in the neighborhood.
“The sound was quite variable, at times somewhat like a locomotive, at times somewhat like your giant fan, at times like something grinding away,” said Caroline Herzenberg, who lives at 1700 E. 56th St.
Others said they experience it more as a vibration or a change in air pressure.
“It’s not as sharp as a change in pressure in an airplane, but it’s similar,” said Ann Marie Miles, who lives at 5490 S. Shore Drive, adding that she only experiences it when she is in her apartment in the afternoon.
Others have reported a vibration that shakes their windows or a low-level hum.
All said the phenomenon lasts less than five minutes and happens even if the obvious causes like trains or trucks are not present. Those who have reported experiencing the trembling all live within three blocks of the Metra tracks from 58th to 55th streets. Most report the source of the phenomenon appearing to come from deep underground.
A spokesman for the Chicago Department of Transportation said there was no recent work on underground infrastructure owned by the city in the area.

Loud Booms in Western Kentucky and Central Alabama (Feb 7)
A series of strange noises awakened Murray, Kentucky residents in the pre-dawn hours Friday, causing law enforcement agencies to answer several calls related to mysterious sounds that were being reported.
Both the Murray Police Department and the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office said resulted in a rash of calls between 2 and 4 a.m.
“Loud bangs was the main thing,” said Rick Harris, day shift supervisor for MPD, who went on duty at 6:30 a.m. Friday, but was hearing about the activity from overnight during the shift change. “They were busy here, and we had our officers drive all over town it sounded like. One interesting part that came from it, though, is that one of our officers apparently had reported that one of the traffic lights near Cracker Barrel (on North 12th Street across from Roy Stewart Stadium at Murray State University) was acting unusual.
Six hours later, reports of a loud boom was heard across Jefferson County, Alabama.
Residents are reporting hearing the "explosion-like" blast about 10:15 a.m. Many claim to have heard it; some claim to have felt it.

Loud Howling Noise Heard Across St. Paul Minnesota (Feb 13)
People heard it for about an hour, in and around the Highland Park and Mac Groveland neighborhoods.
KSTP called Ramsey County dispatch and sent a crew to investigate. Dispatch said they received about 10 calls from homeowners wondering what the noise was. They sent out a few officers to investigate but they couldn't find anything.
The howling traveled for miles, right through the walls of homes. It woke up Rookie from 1500 ESPN's Garage Logic Show. "I was very ghoulish. It sounded like a shrieking whales, it just sounded like a sound I never heard before."

Loud Booms in Central Oklahoma (Feb 14)
The Logan County Sheriff's Department said there were multiple calls throughout the day reporting the explosions, but deputies were unable to locate any smoke or debris.
Nancy York, who lives about four miles south of Guthrie, said she began hearing what she described as “loud booms” about 10 a.m. and continued to hear them until after 6 p.m.
At 6:20 p.m. a 3.1-magnitude earthquake was measured four miles south of Guthrie and 11 miles northeast of Edmond, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.
The USGS did not report any other earthquakes in the area Friday, though the Oklahoma Geological survey reported smaller quakes in the area throughout the day.
York said she found cracks in her walls, floors and front porch after the booms.
“I would hear the explosions and then my whole house would shake,” she said. “Usually when there are earthquakes, there's no loud sound like that.”
York said she called the sheriff's office several times before they came to her house to investigate. When they came, she said, there was another boom that shook the house again.
She said officers couldn't give any explanation other than earthquakes.
Other residents in southern Logan County near Seward Road and Broadway also reported hearing a series of loud booms Friday.
Logan County deputies said they've been responding to reports of loud explosions for the past few weeks.
Melinda Traynor, who lives in the Cinammon Ridge subdivision, said she thinks the tremors are making her home stink. The odor inside her house is so powerful it woke her from a dead sleep around 3:30 a.m. Friday.
“I woke my husband up and said ‘I think I smell gas, honey,’” Traynor said.
She searched her entire home and found a fresh crack across the floor of her garage, but not the source of the stench.
Oklahoma Natural Gas later inspected the home and said the strange smell wasn’t natural gas.
Quakes throughout the day rattled Traynor’s home and her nerves.
“We are a little spooked, even the dogs are spooked,” she said.
Traynor said the quakes shook a keepsake off her wall sending it tumbling to the ground.
“I didn’t make the connection between the earthquakes and the smell until we had a second set of earthquakes. As soon as the two hit back to back about 10 minutes apiece the whole house just filled up again,” Traynor said.

Residents Baffled by Terrifying Loud Booms in Oklahoma
If you hear a bang in the night in Oklahoma, it's probably not a monster, but could something worse -- an earthquake.
Across the south central state, 20 earthquakes were reported to The United States Geological Survey on Saturday alone. One of those quakes in the Edmond area had a magnitude of 3.5.
But residents are puzzled as to why the quakes are occurring so frequently and making such alarmingly loud noises.
"Felt like bombs going off. It's just a huge loud noise and then it's like a reverb from that boom that just shakes the entire house," Logan County resident Nancy York told ABC News affiliate KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City.
Similar booms have been heard across other states including Indiana, South Carolina, Ohio and Rhode Island in the last month. All of these regions are active areas on the USGS seismic hazard map.
Seismologist Austin Holland with the Oklahoma Geological Survey said that the unexplained noises are a result of sound waves emitting deep from within the earth before erupting. Residents might not know it's an earthquake because the shaking may be too slight to detect.
"We have no way to predict the future. Earthquakes aren't predictable," Holland said. "Certainly the more earthquakes we have, the more likely we are to have a larger one."

A strong tremor was felt in at least seven locations in the center and west of the province of Santa Fe and neighbors say he could be a meteorite. Explosion shook the ground and was in Cañada de Gómez, San Martín of Brooms, Sastre, Maria Susana, Clover, Montes de Oca and Partnership, according to early reports rosario3.com site reported. Meteorological Observatory From Santa Fe asserts that "would be a superb meteor, would have disintegrated before landfall", reported on AM. Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Protection Cañada de Gómez noted that "a loud explosion were heard and glasses moved" but cautioned that they the cause of the crash was unknown. Response was similar in the Municipality of Sastre. "Something happened, but we know nothing".

More Loud Booms Alarm South Carolina Residents (Feb 22)
Dispatchers said the calls came mainly from within Chesnee city limits. Officers did not find a cause for the booms.
This is at least the third time loud booms have disturbed Chesnee neighborhoods.
The same type of calls came into 911 dispatch on Feb 7 and Jan 20.
South Carolina experienced a rare 4.1 magnitude quake on Feb 14.

Agency dispatchers said they believe the loud blasts are coming from either Fort Knox or a rock quarry in the Zoneton area (Shepherdsville).
They said they have no other explanation for the consistent booms. There is no emergency.
Question: If the booms are originating from Fort Knox or Shepherdsville, why are 5 of 6 of the green pointers ("haven't heard a boom") the closest to these areas?

Loud Boom in S. Georgia Blamed on Beaver Dam Explosion (Feb 22)
Most people blowing up beaver construction work use Tannerite, a stable explosive that is widely available, said Capt. Jeff Swift, head of the Georgia Department of Natural Resource’s Law Enforcement Division office in Albany.
“That’s been going on for some time,” Colquitt County Emergency Management Director Russell Moody said Tuesday. “It’s been going on all over the county.”
The explosion was felt at a distance of about seven miles from the city limits, some residents reported structures shaking.
Using the chemical to blow beaver dams is not illegal, and the rodent is not a protected species, meaning they are fair game, Swift said.
While not illegal to use Tannerite for beaver control, caution is necessary, especially at night, Swift said.
“I’m not going to say it’s not dangerous,” he said. “Not to mention shooting high-powered rifles at night to set off the catalyst to create an explosion.”
Eleven p.m. or later is not the best time to do the work, he said.
“We would suggest that they not do it at that time,” Swift said. “One, when you shoot, you’ve got to identify the target and the area behind the target. Number two, you have people who are trying to sleep.”

Vibrating Gwinnett Co. homes mystify neighbors - February 17
GWINNETT COUNTY, Georgia -- It is a steady staccato beat, unerring and continuous. Just low enough in frequency to be annoying, yet strong enough to literally shake a house.
Several in fact.
Nerves too have been shaken in this community along Little Mill Road in Gwinnett County, when neighbors awoke to the strange vibrations.
11Alive News called over to the Tellus Science Museum and asked them to check the seismograph: no earthquake activity in the area. The same residents felt it when that quake hit in South Carolina a couple of weeks back.

Loud Boom in Calgary Remains Unexplained (Mar 4)
Emergency services were slammed with phone calls about a loud boom heard and felt across the region, but multiple firefighters and cops scouring more than half a dozen neighbourhoods couldn't find any evidence of an explosion.
After an hour or so of searching the communities of Hidden Valley, Tuscany, Evanston, Nose Valley, Ranchlands, Edgemont and Silver Springs, firefighters and cops gave up the search for an answer.
"We can't have rigs out in these temperatures for hours on end ... (that's) just not a prudent use of resources," fire battalion chief Allan Ball said.
"We don't even know where this came from."
An expert with the University of Calgary says that a seismic monitoring station, which could have shed light on the mysterious explosion, was offline at the time.
ENMAX says there were no gas or power outages and Lafarge says crews were not conducting any controlled detonations in gravel pits.
Military aircraft have also been ruled out.
It also wasn’t likely a frost quake, Ball said, though it was considered a possibility at one point during the search.

An earthquake of 5.7 degrees shook central Chile

SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Chile -. An earthquake measuring 5.7 degrees on the Richter scale, "with much noise underground" shivered this morning to four regions of central Chile, with no casualties or damage were reported.
According to the National Seismological Centre, University of Chile, the tremor was felt at 01.37 local whose epicenter was 38 miles northwest of Valparaiso and 59.5 kilometers deep.
The earthquake affected regions of Valparaíso, Santiago Metropolitan, O'Higgins and Maule, according to a report from the National Emergency Office (Onemi) under the Chilean Interior Ministry.
The strong underground noise woke many Chileans levantararon thinking about a new earthquake, especially after the series of earthquakes that were felt heavily in central and northern Chile.
About two hours before the earthquake phenomenon, many people were calling local stations denouncing underground noises, but no authority could give explanations.
According to Onemi, the earthquake affected a total of 57 cities and towns with intensities ranging between six and two degrees in international Mercalli scale, ranging from 1 to 12.

Mystery Boom on the Mississippi in Iowa (Mar 10)
Viewers on both sides of the river from Davenport to Rock Island have called, emailed and sent Facebook messages to the TV-6 newsroom asking about a mysterious rumbling and loud boom.
"I heard a really loud boom," said Chris Rice.
"I heard a rumble," said Tanisha Douglas.
" I heard a pretty big explosion," said Logan Edwards.
The noise was so loud that many said it caused homes and businesses to shake.
"I expected to see a mushroom cloud when I went out there off in the distance," said Rice.
Contacted were the police and fire departments, the airport, the Rock Island Arsenal and even a meteorologist about what it could be, but no one knows.

"It sounded like something really big on the street. Like something rolling by on the street and then there was a rumble, too," said Douglas
Whether the noise was a rumble, explosion or boom, some of you tell us, this isn't the first time you've heard it.
"On January 14th I heard the sound," said Rice. "I'm used to hearing really loud sounds because I live near the river. I hear trains, barges. I've always lived near the arsenal. I hear all types of sounds, but this one was way louder."

Mysterious Booms Worry Central Florida Residents (Mar 19)
Many people in central Florida have been hearing a boom around the same time every night. Not even the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has an answer.
“It was like a ‘BOOM!’ Then, the windows kinda shook,” said Kissimmee resident Daryl Mercado.
People in Kissimmee, St. Cloud and even as far away as Haines City in Polk County have reported hearing these mysterious booms.
They start around 10 p.m. and they like thunder. Mercado said he’s heard them over the past three weeks.
He was studying the second time it happened, but he grabbed his flashlight to see what it was.
Mercado isn’t the only one puzzled by this. We reached out to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, but a spokesperson said they don’t have any answers either.

Mystery Boom Rattles Southwest Oklahoma (Mar 26)
In southwest Oklahoma, many of us are used to the rolling thunder, or even Fort Sill's artillery popping. But what Stephens County experienced Wednesday night was something different.
"I asked my husband, I was like, 'what was that?' he said I think it was thunder and I said 'no I don't think so!'," said one Duncan resident.
The boom was so loud, those who heard it weren't the only ones shaken by its power.
"I know it hit pretty hard though, because it shook the stuff in my house," said another Duncan dweller.
"I actually wanted to run out of the house because it shook the house," said one worried Duncan resident.
It was enough to grab the attention of the Duncan Police Department and the Stephens County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Wayne McKinney says this event isn't entirely uncommon.
"Over the past year, we've had calls out in the county where people have heard explosions or what they thought was explosions," said Sheriff McKinney.
Over the past twenty-four hours, the boom was reported in Bray, Duncan, Marlow, even Cotton and Tillman counties.

Mysterious “explosions” causing houses to shake in Highgate have become the focus of a police investigation.
Several people living in Priory Gardens said they regularly hear deep booms that have been likened to the sound of a gas explosion.
The noise is so loud that many say it causes their houses to shake in their foundations.
TV producer Carrie Kirkpatrick, said: “It’s just so mysterious. Sometimes it’s more than once a week and then you don’t hear it for a while.
“Friday night seems to be most popular. It can be at any time between 10pm and midnight.
“I’m still awake at that time, and my eight-year-old says, ‘I wish the loud bangs would stop’.”
The mother-of-one has reported the noises, which were first heard 18 months ago, to police and Haringey Council.
Both were unable to identify where the sounds might be coming from and will continue investigations into the cause of the explosive booms. Residents in Wellfield Road, Muswell Hill, have also reported hearing the noises.
Those who have heard the explosions have also reported seeing flashes in the sky, but they don’t believe the noises could be from fireworks.
Some suggested the sounds may be caused by excavation work at Shepherd’s Hill allotment.
But the team in charge of the green space said no excavation work has taken place at the times people have reported hearing the noises.
An electrical substation in Shepherd’s Hill has also been considered as a possible source of the bangs. Others have come up with more inventive explanations.
“Some people have asked, could it be fracking or military manoeuvres?” Ms Kirkpatrick said. “It’s Highgate, it’s not military manoeuvres.
“They said it could be the Underground, but they wouldn’t be doing explosive work at night without telling us.
“Some of my friends are suggesting it is a paranormal occurrence. I think we need to stalk out the woods at night.”
Cllr Lyn Weber, independent member for Crouch End on Haringey Council, said it was an “intriguing mystery”.
“I wondered whether it was something to do with the big basement works [at Witanhurst house] up in Highgate,” she said.
Residents should report the explosion sounds to Haringey Council’s noise team on 020 8489 0000.
