Altering Earthquakes:

ZetaTalk Aug 7, 2010

As of late, I have observed that USGS and EMSC are a bit lax on their reports of earthquakes. Sometimes not seeing anything reported for hours from the last update, or seeing periods of 90-200 minutes with no earthquakes in between. My question is, are they leaving swarms of earthquakes out of their reports, or there are actually periods of no earthquakes?

SOZT:   Greater than 90% of the earthquake activity is being altered by the USGS at present, which is under orders to prevent any clue being given to the public about the Earth changes caused by the presence of Planet X. Over a decade ago, the approach was to de-sensitize the live seismographs periodically, so the displays do not turn black worldwide, and to ignore the twice-a-day patterns showing up on these seismographs. Then any quakes that could be dropped were dropped. This was obvious to some who were watching the database manipulation. Quakes in the list would suddenly disappear. This was particularly the case where a quake happened in a remote location, or out in the ocean. Dumbing down the magnitude quickly followed, but in order to ensure the public did not notice, the USGS took control of all websites reporting quake statistics. At times, this control breaks, and discrepancies are reported to the public. Some countries rebel. Quake swarms are another source of control, as they pepper the databases with many quakes and skew the statistics, and thus are pulled from the database. Else the question is raised, why so many?   EOZT

Will the USGS internet system be a reliable warning system for the European tsunami by registering on the net the New Madrid earthquake on the exact time it occurs?

SOZT:   It will not be a lack of information from the USGS that will be the point of confusion during the earthquakes leading up to the New Madrid adjustment, it will be knowing which quake is the big one vs the many minor quakes preceding it. The USGS downgrades almost all earthquakes, to prevent meaningful statistics from being generated from their databases. They also exclude quakes whenever they can, but this is unlikely to happen in the New Madrid area as it is in the center of a populated land mass. Thus you will have magnitude 6 quakes that will be called a 5.2, magnitude 7 quakes called a 6.1, and when a magnitude 8 or greater quake occurs, it will be called a 6.9.

We would advise that rather than watching the USGS quake statistics, that you watch the Earth changes. The adjustment that will incite the European tsunami will involve bridges on the Mississippi breaking, and being impassable. The land to the west of the Mississippi will drop so that the Mississippi will become 50 miles wide in the state of Mississippi. Watch for this. The New Madrid adjustment will be several large quakes of magnitude 8-9, though will be listed as a lesser magnitude. As the N American continent continues to unzip up to and along the Seaway, the quakes will be less than a magnitude 8 but very destructive to Cleveland and Toledo and Buffalo and the inland locks along the Seaway. Thus it is not what the USGS says that should be watched, but the condition of the bridges on the Mississippi, the impact on the cities along the Seaway, and whether the inland locks are reported as inoperable.   EOZT

Please collect earthquake-reports here. Significant Quakes or Magnitude 7+ can be posted separately.

Earthquakes, "dancing" around the Pacific: dozens of strong aftershocks in Alaska and New Zealand

    Tuesday, June 24, 2014

At this time it is "dancing" around the Pacific Ocean tens of strong seismic shocks are affecting both ends of the world's largest maritime basin, north to Alaska and south to New Zealand. The two main shocks have been one of New Zealand 19:16 (magnitude 7.2) and that of the 22:53 in Alaska (magnitude 8.0), both followed by numerous aftershocks of magnitude greater than 6 in both epicentral areas, ie, the islands Kermadec in New Zealand and the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

Mainstream media is pushing the fracking excuse hard, but in this recent news report they have a geologist at least stating that they cannot connect the entire pattern of earthquakes to fracking. But then there is no attempt to get at the real reason why these quakes have increased so drastically... I feel terrible for all of those people. They shouldn't be wasting their time arguing about fracking - they should be organizing their communities to prepare for the coming disaster.

Big Earthquakes Double in 2014 (Jun 27)

Earthquakes larger than magnitude-7 since 2000

A new study finds there were more than twice as many big earthquakes in the first quarter of 2014 as compared with the average since 1979.

"We have recently experienced a period that has had one of the highest rates of great earthquakes ever recorded," said lead study author Tom Parsons, a research geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in Menlo Park,

BEIRUT: A mild tremor shook several areas in Lebanon, including the capital, Beirut, early Sunday, residents said.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Center said the epicenter of the 4.0-magnitude earthquake was at sea, 47 km southwest of Beirut.

There was no immediate word of damage or casualties in Lebanon.

Lebanon is criss-crossed by numerous fault lines, and the last major earthquake is estimated to have killed 40,000 people in 1759. Experts say that Lebanon can expect major earthquakes every 250-300 years.

In A.D. 551, Beirut was largely destroyed by a major earthquake, estimated as a 7.6-magnitude, which also spawned a tsunami that caused widespread devastation along the eastern Mediterranean.

Earthquake hits Hudson Highlands; rattled residents take to streets

People living in the Hudson Highlands were startled Saturday morning by an earthquake that didn't shake the ground, but was accompanied by a loud boom.

The "micro earthquake" struck at 10:46 a.m., 3.1 miles beneath the Appalachian Trail in a heavily wooded area of Garrison.

The Lamont-Doherty Cooperative Seismographic Network reported on its website that it was a magnitude-2.5 earthquake. The location, according to Lamont-Doherty, was 13 miles southeast of Newburgh, and 23 miles north-northwest of White Plains. The coordinates, 41.36 north and 73.934 west, place it a few miles north of Peekskill.

Most people in the Lower Hudson Valley didn't hear or feel a thing. But those near the epicenter were startled into the streets.

Big Bear Lake 4.6 earthquake causes rock slides, rattles San Bernardino County, California

The Southland was rattled Saturday morning by two earthquakes and a cluster of aftershocks that hit just north of Big Bear Lake and caused rock slides that temporarily closed Highway 18 between Snow Valley and Arctic Circle, but road crews were able to clean up the area and reopened the highway by about 12:30 p.m.

The largest temblor measured 4.6 magnitude, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Massive Eruption at Soufriere Hills Volcano

Posted by feww on March 25, 2010

Passengers on a 737 jet flying over the Caribbean had a close-up look at a massive volcanic eruption which ejected a plume of ash and smoke higher than the flight altitude. Early reports indicate that a partial collapse of the volcano’s lava dome may have caused the mushroom cloud.

A massive eruption of Montserrat’s Soufrière Hills Volcano triggered by a collapse of Soufrière Hills’ summit lava dome covered large portions of the island in debris on February 11, 2010. Pyroclastic flows raced down the northern flank of the volcano, leveling trees and destroying buildings in the village of Harris, already abandoned after Soufrière Hills activity in 1995. The Montserrat Volcano Observatory reported that some flows, about 15 meters (49 feet) thick, reached the sea at Trant’s Bay, extending the island’s coastline up to 650 meters (2,100 feet).

Apparently the quake had increased incidence in mountain by belief that it had its origin in the same. MAS, keep calm and keep us alert

    Quake hits Fukushima

An earthquake struck Fukushima and other northeastern Japanese prefectures early Saturday morning.

The quake occurred at about 4:22 AM Japan time.

The Meteorological Agency says the focus is 10 kilometers beneath the Pacific Ocean off Fukushima Prefecture.

The magnitude was estimated at 6.8.

The jolt measured 4 on Japan's seismic intensity scale of zero to 7.

The agency issued a tsunami advisory for Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate prefectures.

The agency observed a 20 centimeter high tsunami at 5:19 AM in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture but lifted its tsunami advisory about two hours later.

Tokyo Electric Power Company says there are no reports of irregularities at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant that was crippled by a major earthquake and tsunami in 2011.

Oklahoma now has more earthquakes a year than CALIFORNIA
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2690913/Is-fracking-reason-...

Is fracking behind the exponential increase in earthquakes suffered across Oklahoma?

That is the question the US Geological Survey wants to know the answer to because as of last month, Oklahoma surpassed California in the number of earthquakes experienced over the past five years.

As of June 16, 2014, California - the home of the infamous San Andreas fault -  registered 140 quakes of 3.0-magnitude or greater, which is in stark contrast to Oklahoma's 207.

Earthquakes cause minor damage in central Oklahoma

In this June 26, 2014, photo, Austin Holland, research seismologist at the Oklahoma Geological Survey in Norman, Okla., hangs up a chart depicting earthquake activity.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Two early morning earthquakes rattled residents in central Oklahoma on Tuesday and caused minor damage at local businesses.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck about 2:20 a.m. 3 miles northeast of Harrah, a city of about 5,000 people about 20 miles east of Oklahoma City. That was followed nearly two hours later by a magnitude 3.9 temblor 5 miles northeast of the community.

The quakes were strong enough to knock merchandise off the shelves at an Ace Hardware store along with tiles from the ceiling. Store manager Tony Landrith said the falling paint, cleaner and other items along with the tiles caused the security alarm to go off and the police to respond.

When Landrith arrived at the store after the alarm company called him, he and the police discovered "a little bit of everything on every aisle" had been knocked off, he said.

Employees worked throughout the morning and afternoon to clean up. The store opened two hours late, he said.

Earl Burson, Harrah's city manager, said glass windows were shattered at buildings on the city's main street, Church Avenue, and the police department sustained cracks in the wall.

"I'm surprised we had as a little damage as we do," he said. No injuries were reported.

Like Landrith, Burson was woken up by a call after the alarm went off at City Hall after the first quake. After the second quake, alarms started going off throughout the community.

The USGS also reported that a third earthquake struck in north-central Oklahoma Tuesday morning. The magnitude 3.0 earthquake was 5 miles south of Medford at 5 a.m.

Earlier this week, the USGS reported seven small earthquakes shaking 15 to 30 miles northeast of Oklahoma City in a span of 14 hours.

The temblors are part of an increase in earthquakes across Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas that some scientists say could be connected to the oil and gas drilling method known as hydraulic fracturing, and especially the wells in which the industry disposes of its wastewater.

Uptown building evacuated after swaying, shaking

Posted on July 15, 2014 at 11:10 AM

    Updated yesterday at 2:35 PM

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A building in uptown was evacuated after reports of it shaking Tuesday morning.

Several fire trucks and emergency vehicles responded to 200 South Tryon Street after reports of the building shaking.

After further investigation, the Charlotte Fire Department determined the shaking was due to the HVAC system in the building.

There were no reported injuries at this time.

NBC Charlotte's First Warn Storm Team Chief Meteorologist, Brad Panovich, says there is no seismic activity showing for uptown.

Meanwhile, some people had to get in on the situation with a joke, like this guy:

Earthquake hits Cairo, Suez for second time in a week - EGYPT

Earthquake epicentre is Hagool Valley, a zone known for its tectonic activity
Ahram Online, Tuesday 22 Jul 2014

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Egypt’s Cairo and Suez governorates in the early hours of Tuesday, the second of its kind in the past week, Reuter’s Aswat Masriya reported.

The quake took place at 5:03:44 am on Tuesday at a depth of 21 kilometers, head of Egypt’s Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, Hatem Ouda, told Aswat Masriya.

The epicentre of the tremor was Hagool Valley, 100 kilometres east of Cairo and 45 kilometres from Suez governorate.

No damage or injury was reported.

This is the third quake, with Hagool Valley as its epicentre, to be felt in 18 days.

Hagool Valley, is a zone of tectonic activity. However, its quakes are known to be mild and spaced apart.

Last Friday, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake also struck Cairo and Suez, causing no injuries or damage to infrastructure

Earthquake in Algeria: the shock sowing panic in the capital

    Friday, August 1st, 2014

An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale caused panic in Algiers and in the departments bordering the Algerian capital. This was reported on the radio in Algeria, which has made it clear that the quake was recorded at around 5:11 in the morning.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the sea 19 kilometers off the coast of Bologhine, a northern district of Algiers, according to the Algerian center of research in astrophysics and geophysics (Craag), which also reported five aftershocks of lesser intensity.
Many local residents rushed into the streets, fearing the collapse of buildings. At the moment, however, has not been notified of any victim. In 2003 an earthquake in Boumerdes, east of Algiers, had resulted in about 3 thousand victims.

Update on today's 5.6 quake in Algeria:

"Algerian officials say six people are dead and 420 injured following an earthquake that shook Algiers Friday morning.

Algeria's health ministry says four of the victims died after jumping from windows in panic. Authorities say two more people died of heart attacks during the quake, which measured 5.6 on the Richter scale.

Most of the injured were treated and released, but 21 remained hospitalized.

Vibrations could be felt in provinces, including Blida, Boumerdes, Bouira, Tipaza, and Medea, which triggered panic among citizens who left their homes to take refuge in the streets.

Civil defence official Colonel Farouk Ashur said many residents in Algiers and Boumerdes, to the east, rushed out into the streets, fearing their buildings might collapse.

The Algerian centre for research in astrophysics and geophysics reported there were five lower magnitude aftershocks.

More on today's severe quake in China:

China earthquake death toll reaches 398, massive rescue operation underway (Aug 3)

At least 398 people were killed and 1,891 injured after a strong earthquake hit southwest China's mountainous Yunnan province on Sunday, bringing homes crashing to the ground and sparking a massive relief operation.

The quake in Zhaotong prefecture, in the province's northeast, toppled 12,000 homes in Ludian and left rescue teams and residents to pull survivors from beneath the rubble, images on social media showed.

"At least 175 people have been killed and 181 others are missing," the official news agency Xinhua reported.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the quake at a magnitude of 6.1 and said it struck at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometres at 4.30 pm (0830 GMT).

Chinese state media put the magnitude of the earthquake at 6.5.

"Too many buildings were damaged and we are collecting data on deaths and injuries," Xinhua quoted local official Chen Guoyong as saying in the township of Longtoushan, which sits at the epicentre.

State television broadcast footage of people running from their homes and gathering in the streets, as witnesses described the devastation on social networks.

"The walls of several buildings crumbled, and water pipes were ruptured. The electricity was cut off," wrote a user who said they lived in Ludian county, 23 kilometres (14 miles) from the epicentre, on China's Twitter-like Weibo.

Another Ludian resident described the scene as resembling a "battlefield after bombardment", telling Xinhua "I have never felt (such) strong tremors before. What I can see are all ruins."

The county was the worst hit, with 122 residents killed, more than 180 missing and 1,300 injured, though at least 53 deaths were recorded in neighbouring districts. Electricity and telecommunications have been cut across the area.

State media announced that 2,500 troops had been dispatched to quake-hit areas late Sunday, joining a team of more than 300 police and firefighters from Zhaotong City, the capital of the prefecture.

The equipment brought to the area included life detection instruments and excavating tools.

The province also sent 392 rescuers and sniffer dogs to aid the relief operation.

    Quake hits South Africa
    11:30 PM Tuesday Aug 5, 2014

    JOHANNESBURG
(AP) An earthquake shook buildings in Johannesburg and surrounding areas in South Africa's most populous province on Tuesday.

The magnitude-5.3 quake was centered in Orkney, 170 kilometers (105 miles) southwest of Johannesburg, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Lindy Sirayi, a guesthouse owner in Orkney, said the tremor broke glass lampshades and cracked a wall, and that dogs started barking during the quake, which lasted about a minute. She said she received a telephone call informing her that two people were injured at a nearby mine. Aftershocks were felt, but the electricity in the guesthouse stayed on, Sirayi said.

There are gold-mining operations in Orkney. Quakes are a concern to mining companies that operate around Johannesburg, the biggest city in Gauteng province. Mining is a traditional pillar of industry in South Africa.

The quake was also felt in Pretoria, the South African capital, and Hartbeespoort, a nearby resort town.

The area has periodic, moderate tremors, though the quake on Tuesday was one of the strongest in recent years.
