"Stretch zones primarily experience sinking ground, as the support in the rock strata is stretched thin. Thus, buildings implode and gas and water mains break." ZetaTalk
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What happens to rock layers under a diagonal pull, or being pulled apart? As can be seen during recent years, this has resulted in derailing trains, sinkholes suddenly appearing, gas and water main breaks, torn roadways and separating bridges. Despite the effect on man, crawling about on the surface of what they assume to be terra firma, these changes are superficial. When the pulling starts, weak points break and thereafter the plumbing and roadways hold, giving the impression that the pulling has stopped, but this is misleading. The North American continent is giving evidence that its rock layers are separating from each other, and sliding sideways in a diagonal, thus exposing portions of these layers to vent into the air above. If rock is being stressed, then where are the earthquake predictors giving evidence of this, the frantic animals, the static on the radio, the earthquake swarms? Rock in the stretch zone, pulling apart rather than compressing, does not emit the particles flows that animals and radios sense, nor register on instruments are tension and release quakes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We have repeatedly stated that the Earth changes will not diminish, but will increase going into the pole shift.
This is not a lineal matter, as the closer Planet X comes to Earth, an inevitable path, the more the torque effect and the polar wobble where the N Pole of Earth is pushed away violently on a daily basis, occur. The wobble will become more pronounced, more violent. The plates are tugged back West of the Atlantic, pulled forward East of the Atlantic, during the daily rotation of the Earth. The North American continent is allowed to roll East during rotation while the S Pole is pulled West, creating the diagonal pull likely to trigger the New Madrid fault line into an adjustment, and soon. The N Pole is pushed away and allowed to bounce back, daily, as the Earth rotates, a wobble that puts stress on all fault lines when the plates are suddenly in motion, and suddenly stopped!
"As there is no other explanation for the effect on the stretch zone, lacking any earthquakes to blame, and as these stretch zone accidents will continue to emerge, and with ferocity, this is a certain clue to those on the fence, that the influence of Planet X is the cause. Or is it Global Warming?"
ZetaTalk Chat Q&A for April 13, 2013
"Sinkholes almost invariably form in areas subject to karst limestone cavern formation. Underground water flows eat away the limestone leaving vast caverns and caves, which often give scant indication above ground that a cavern lies below. Karst limestone rock formations have been mapped and are known, however, but since one never knows just where a cavern might have formed, this provides little help in predicting just where a sinkhole might form. Sinkholes open up when the rock is fractured due to stress from being in the stretch zone, from the bending of a plate, or due to torsion."

Fifteen-foot sinkhole opens at Baxter Street business
By JIM THOMPSONupdated Wednesday, August 19, 2015 - 12:16am
A 15-foot wide, 8-foot deep sinkhole swallowed an ice machine at a Baxter Street business early Tuesday, bringing an Athens-Clarke County utilities crew to the scene to determine whether any of the county’s stormwater piping in the area played a role in the collapse.
Lynn Taylor, who lives on Collins Avenue immediately behind the Baxter Street Car Wash, said she began hearing noises shortly after midnight Tuesday, and continued to hear the noises intermittently throughout the early morning hours before discovering that the sinkhole had opened up next door.
“It sounded like somebody was ruffling my doors,” Taylor said. She called Athens-Clarke County police, but did not know Tuesday afternoon what police did in response to her call.
“What if somebody had been buying some ice?” Taylor wondered Tuesday as she surveyed the sinkhole.
By Tuesday afternoon, the owner of the car wash had a crane contractor on the scene working to determine what might be done to stabilize the structure.
In addition to swallowing the ice machine, the sinkhole swallowed one wall at the end of the car wash. That end of the building was being held up Monday by only a small column of bricks.
• Check out more photos from the scene of the sinkhole in our slidesh...
Toby Hines, owner of the crane company contacted by the car wash’s owner, said Tuesday afternoon that there were two possibilities for stabilizing the structure. One option, Hines said, was to build columns on “good dirt” away from the sinkhole and run a steel beam between them to support the roof. The other option, according to Hines, was to demolish the end stall of the car wash, leaving an undamaged wall to support that end of the structure.
Whatever is done with the structure, Hines’s question Tuesday was where the dirt washed away as the ground sank had gone.
“You don’t wave a magic wand and have dirt just disappear,” he said.
Hines said Tuesday he was waiting to hear from an insurance adjuster before proceeding with any repairs to the structure.
As Hines waited for word on how to proceed Tuesday, an Athens-Clarke County utilities crew was using a camera to investigate the storm sewer infrastructure in and near the car wash. As of midafternoon, the crew was looking into the question Hines had pondered with regard to where the dirt had gone.
Initial indications form the camera survey, said county engineering administrator Jerry Oberholtzer, were that none of the dirt had gotten into the storm sewerage infrastructure in the immediate area.
As to the larger question of whether the county’s storm sewers might have contributed to the sinkhole, Oberholtzer said the camera surveys done as of Tuesday afternoon hadn’t revealed any collapses of storm sewerage in the area.
The county crew was somewhat hampered, Oberholtzer indicated, by the fact that there were no engineering drawings available detailing the storm sewerage infrastructure along the affected section of Baxter Street.
“It’s a very old system,” Oberholtzer said.

Massive Florida sinkhole that swallowed a man reopens
CNN)A massive sinkhole in Florida, which had been filled in, has opened up again -- bringing back nightmarish memories of when it swallowed a man two years ago.
In February 2013, the sinkhole first formed under Jeff Bush's bedroom in the town of Seffner as he turned in for the night. He screamed out for help to his brother Jeremy, who ran into the bedroom to see that Bush and all his furnishings had vanished into the earth.
Jeff Bush's remains were never recovered.
On Wednesday, the sinkhole -- about 20 feet in diameter -- opened up again the Tampa suburb.
Hillsborough County sent an engineer by to evaluate potential dangers but authorities don't believe any residents are in danger. After it first opened two years ago, the county bought the property on top of the sink hole and the home next to it to make sure no one lived too close.
The new hole's only casualties have been the emotional toll taken on Bush's family. "It brings back memories," Jeremy Bush told CNN affiliate WFLA with tears in his eyes. "I think about it every day. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about it."

Large Sinkhole Opens Up In Downtown Lynn
http://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/08/21/large-sinkhole-opens-up-in-do...
When a woman drove right over the vulnerable spot, an accident was narrowly averted.
“I just saw a Honda Civic go right over it, and it caved in right after that,” said witness Connor Holland.
Gabriel Valerio was also nearby and watched it happen.
“She just passed by, and the whole thing collapsed. She was so lucky,” he said.
City officials say a sewer line broke, filling up with dirt and debris, and creating an enormous cavity nobody could have seen beneath the surface.
“It was big enough and void enough that someone going over it caused it to finally collapse,” said Mike Biasetti, a foreman with the city’s Water and Sewer Commission.
Goldean Graham drives over the spot every morning with her children and was left to wonder: what if that had been us?
“It leaves me breathless. I’m thankful someone was looking (out) for us this morning for sure.”

Mayor: Groveland sinkhole still growing, now 75-80 feet wide
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/lake/os-sinkhole-groveland-wate...
"It looks like it's still growing," Loucks said of the sinkhole near Iowa Avenue and East Waldo Street.
The first day of school is going on today as planned at Gray Middle School even though drinking water is not available due to a water-main break caused by the sinkhole, a school-district spokeswoman said. A boil-water notice remains in effect at the school at 205 E. Magnolia St.
Classes will continue as planned this morning, according to district spokeswoman Sherri Owens.
"Some news reports stated otherwise," she said. "Water is available for restroom use at the school, but bottled water is being brought in for students to drink and the district has made alternate provisions for food service."
Water was RESTORED early today, Loucks said, but many Groveland residents remain under the boil-water alert due to the sinkhole, which was reported about 1 p.m. Sunday. The boil-water alert will impact affect everyone living in the area between State Road 50 and Anderson Street, and between Lake Avenue and State Road 33.
"Several residents will be out of water in this area until the sink hole can be filled," police spokeswoman Sgt. Stephanie Crews she said in a statement. The Groveland Fire Department also will provide bottled water.

Five people swallowed by massive sinkhole which opens up in pavement in shocking CCTV footage
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/five-people-swallowed-massi...
This is the dramatic moment five people fall into a massive sinkhole which opens up in the middle of the pavement.
The street beneath their feet swallows them and pulls four of them inside the large gap, while a fifth managing to hang on to a metal bar just below the surface.
Eyewitnesses can be seen in the dramatic CCTV gathering around the hole, reported to be around 10sq metres and two metres deep.
After a few minutes the fallen are helped back to the surface by those watching the event unfold.
All need hospital treatment for minor injuries.
The incident took place in the Heilongjiang Province of China on Saturday.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Just last week a giant sinkhole swallowed a road leaving a residential tower blocks on the brink of collapse.
One man died as the 300 square-metre hole collapsed as work on a subway line took place underground.

Mancunian Way re-opened after sinkhole collapsed road
Tue 1st September, 9:09 AM
The Mancunian Way link road in central Manchester has re-opened to traffic this morning after a huge 40ft sinkhole appeared in the carriageway.
Both lanes of the westbound carriageway were opened at 5am this morning, Tuesday 1 September, with a contraflow in place so traffic can move in both directions.
There is no date set yet for when the eastbound carriageway will re-open. Highways bosses are still asking drivers to find alternative routes where possible to take the pressure off the roadway.
Watch drone footage of the Mancunian Way sinkhole
The route was closed after heavy flooding on Friday 14 August overloaded a culvert running underneath the road, and the tarmac fell in on itself to reveal the deep hole.
Torrential storms that morning saw 20mm of rain fall in under three hours.
Emergency repairs have now been completed, Manchester City Council confirmed.
Councillor Kate Chappell, Manchester City Council’s executive member for the environment, said: “We have been working closely with United Utilities to make sure traffic can begin flowing as quickly as possible.
“Due to the ongoing nature of the roadworks we will be introducing a temporary 20mph speed limit and restricting larger vehicles on these lanes.
“We are expecting heavy traffic on the Mancunian Way so we are asking motorists to use alternative routes if possible in order to reduce congestion across the highway network.”

Third sinkhole opens up after road collapse in Salford,(Manchester UK) leads to gaping 16ft deep hole

The hole has opened up on Newearth Road between Queensway and Shawbrook AvenueDrivers have been warned to expect delays and disruption after yet another road collapse.
First there was the 40ft-deep sinkhole on the Mancunian Way in Manchester city centre - now a road has given way close to a busy junction of the East Lancashire Road in Salford.
Council bosses have confirmed that the collapse has led to a huge hole around 16ft deep.
It’s on the B532 Newearth Road towards Walkden, between Queensway and Shawbrook Avenue.
The hole, largely the result of subsequent excavation work after cracking and subsidence was first spotted and reported, is affecting Walkden-bound motorists coming off the A580 East Lancashire Road.
Temporary traffic lights have gone up but Urban Vision, the provider of Salford council’s highways services, said a full closure could be needed.
Engineers are on site.
The road collapse happened on Wednesday afternoon during a brief period of heavy rainfall. Urban Vision confirmed that an investigation was now underway, but warned that delays and disruption were expected.

Riverton landslide comes within 10 feet of home
Posted Sep 3rd, 2015 @ 10:25pm
RIVERTON — A landslide came within about 10 feet of a home Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.
A 30-by-30-foot slab of ground shifted about 20 feet down a sloping grass field separating two sections of homes near 1100 West and 125000 South, Unified Fire Authority paramedic Rob Morley said.
One homeowner will be displaced overnight as a precaution, Morley said.
The landslide came to rest about 10 feet from the back deck of a home, he said. The affected ground was "pretty moist," Morley said.
The slide occurred around 2 p.m. No homes sustained damage, and nobody was injured.
Riverton city engineers were still working Thursday night to determine the source of the water found in the landslide. The local homeowners association hired a private plumbing contractor to also examine possible sources, Morley said.
Firefighters believe the ground in the area was stabilized after the initial incident, meaning other landslides in the near future are unlikely. Engineers put stakes in the ground and measured their exact GPS coordinates and will do so again to detect any movement, Morley said.

McMinn County Dealing With A "Sinking Feeling" At Its Airport
http://www.newschannel9.com/news/top-stories/stories/mcminn-county-...
One Southeast Tennessee airport is bracing for what heavy rain might bring.
Not flooding, but sinkholes at the McMinn County airport. Sinkholes that may soon threaten landings and takeoffs.
From the air, what pilots coming into the McMinn County Airport are seeing as they land and take off are massive sinkholes alongside the adjacent taxiway where the earth has opened up. "East Tennessee has obviously got a lot of sinkholes" he says. "We're not far from the Lost Sea and we've always had sinkholes in East Tennessee."
Two years ago on the other side of the runway a sinkhole opened up right beside the taxiway. It was later filled in.
A year ago another one opened up near the first one and was also filled in. When a third one opened up McMinn County Mayor John Gentry figured something was wrong and asked TDOT's Division of Aeronautics for help. Before he could hear back a massive sinkhole opened up two months ago in the MIDDLE of the taxiway catching a light plane in the process.
"His landing gear got caught on the lip of the hole" Gentry says. "The plane never went into the sinkhole and it was kind of spun around."
Now there are nine sinkholes all next to each other alongside the taxiway, some with caverns. And all, creating questions. "Obviously the previous way we just treated each sinkhole as they came along" Gentry says. "We can't do that any longer. We think this is part of a larger system."
The runway is safe. Geological testing has shown no faults and dropoffs underneath its surface. But could there be in the future?
"We're not talking the San Andreas Fault here" says Gentry. "We're just talking about two bedrock systems that have come together near the runway."
The airport has blocked off the northern part of the taxi way where the sinkholes are to prevent planes from using it.
The long-term fix is going to be expensive, to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars.
Mayor Gentry says he hopes to get a grant through the state for that.

City engineers and staff to meet Tuesday to decide plan for bridge near giant sinkhole
http://winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/city-engineers-and-staff-to-meet-tuesday...
“Jaw-dropping. Wow. It’s huge,” said Darka Smith as she saw the sinkhole while walking her dog. “This is the exact path I take and that is exactly where I walk.”
Brent Mackie’s home sits only metres from where the hole opened up and he actually heard the ground give way during Friday’s heavy rainstorm.
“I heard this kaboom!” said Mackie. “A great big explosion type thing. And I came out into the living room and that's when I noticed the sinkhole had expanded."
Sturgeon Creek regularly floods in the springtime, forcing the closure of the bridge.
Locals have come to expect it every year.
"The bridge has been in rough shape for a long time,” said Smith. “And being over a creek, this creek spills its banks almost every year and it gets quite high.”
The bridge is slated to be replaced and construction was supposed to begin in January.

Sinkhole opens on busy Manchester road for second time in two months
http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/sep/15/sinkhole-mancunian-w...
The westbound carriageway was closed hours before Manchester City’s Champions League game with Juventus at the Etihad stadium in nearby Eastlands. Motorists are advised to plan their route before the match.
The first crater appeared in August after heavy rainfall and was believed to have been caused by the erosion of a culvert beneath.
A spokesman for Manchester city council said the fresh sinkhole appeared in an area that was being excavated to repair the original highway collapse. He said it was possible that the hole could extend under the westbound carriageway.
“Motorists are being advised that the westbound carriageway of the Mancunian Way has been closed for safety reasons,” the spokesman said. “The westbound carriageway was recently reopened, with a contraflow enabling traffic to travel in both directions.
“We are working closely with United Utilities to make sure this can be made safe as an urgent priority, enabling repair work on the wider highway collapse to continue, and get the westbound carriageway reopened as quickly as possible. Diversions which have been in place since the end of August will remain and signing will be reinforced.”

Massive sinkhole swallows suburban street, families evacuated
Published time: 1 Oct, 2015 11:53
Families in the quiet Hertfordshire cul-de-sac were shocked to find a sinkhole had swallowed up a chunk of their neighborhood.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue appeared on the scene at 1.30am on Thursday morning after residents heard a crash in the night.
At least 10 people were taken to an evacuation center set up at nearby Batchwood Hall nightclub, according to the fire service.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOkfCsKthqw
The sinkhole started as a small hole in the road a few days ago, according to Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue service watch commander John Hudnott.
It was thought at the time the hole was caused by a leak in the water main.
“They had a sinkhole in Hemel [Hempstead] this year or last but I’ve never seen one like this,” he said.
“I have absolutely no idea how long it’s going to take to get the power back on. We thought it was the water leak, but now we’re not so sure.”
Gas, water and electricity supplies in the area have been turned off, leaving 58 houses without any utilities.
Some families are unable to return to their homes and are being rehoused by the local authority.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said it was too early to say when residents could return to their homes.
“Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Services were called to the scene at 1.30am this morning,” a spokespersons aid.
“Overnight the county council’s resilience team swooped in and organized the evacuation. St Albans City and District Council set up an evacuation center at Batchwood Leisure Centre.”

Giant sinkhole forms in central Anatolia’s Konya, thirteenth in 2 years
http://national.bgnnews.com/giant-sinkhole-forms-in-central-anatoli...
Posted Oct 7,2015 A 10-meter wide, 7-meter deep sinkhole has formed on farmland in the district of Karapınar, in Turkey’s central Anatolian province of Konya. This is at least the thirteenth sinkhole to form in two years, and the tenth since the spring.
The sinkhole formed in Karapınar’s Kirkitoğlu region, about 7 kilometers (4 miles) from the town center and about 500 meters from the nearest residence.
Farmer Atilla Köken said the sinkhole probably formed a few days ago. “Several sinkholes have already formed in the area before. This one is 10 meters across and 7 meters deep. Even if we’re anxious about them there is nothing to do; we’ve grown accustomed to living here.
The Kirkitoğlu region of Karapınar has several old sinkholes, some reaching even 70 meters (230 feet) in depth. The increase in rainfall during the spring accelerates their formation, with locals claiming that nine sinkholes had formed this past spring alone.
Selçuk University Geological Engineering professor Fetullah Arık said that over 200 sinkholes have been identified in the area so far.

Sinkhole swallows car amid Sicily downpour
Published: 22 Oct 2015 http://www.thelocal.it/20151022/sinkhole-swallows-car-in-catania-am...
A parked car was swallowed up by a sinkhole that suddenly opened up on a road in Sicily after heavy rain on Wednesday evening.
The car plunged five metres through the eight-metre wide hole on a road in Valverde, in the province of Catania.
The female driver made a miraculous escape having just parked the vehicle before the hole opened up, Corriere reported.
It was then hauled out by firefighters with a crane. The scene was captured on the video below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtuvECkkPcs
Heavy rain has swept across Sicily over the past couple of days, with the Catania area faring the worst.
The downpours are expected to continue on Thursday, while torrential rain is also forecast in the Puglia and Calabria regions of southern Italy.
The sinkhole is just the latest embarrassment for the island’s public works authorities. In early January a €13 million viaduct, which lies on a stretch of highway between Palermo and Agrigento, collapsed within days of opening.
Sinkholes are also a common problem elsewhere in the country, especially when torrential rain hits. In February over 300 people had to be evacuated from their homes on a street in Naples after heavy rain and a burst water pipe caused the road to cave in.

The hole, about 4 feet deep, opened around 4 p.m.
The Florida Department of Transportation, which dubbed the situation a "pavement failure, said it was unclear whether the ramp would be open by morning.
Motorists can use the eastbound I-4 exit ramp (90B) to westbound State Road 414 (Maitland Boulevard). This ramp has access to eastbound or westbound S.R. 414.
Traffic cameras appeared to show a car stuck in the hole. The car was towed away, and crews worked to fix the hole.
Orange County Fire Rescue received several calls at the time, saying the hole was "rapidly expanding," spokeswoman Kat Kennedy said.
The hole opened near an I-4 Ultimate construction site, according to FDOT. Crews were doing "horizontal drilling" under the ramp at the time, FDOT said.
The exact cause is unknown.
The area is known for sinkholes. Back in 2009, the state spent $9 million when it pumped 7 million gallons of grout into a sinkhole next to the interchange.
When I-4 was originally constructed, the builders went around it, but that was no longer an option when the interchange was expanded. It's not clear whether the original sinkhole has anything to do with the one that opened Monday.

Sinkhole opens, threatens homes in Spring Township
Broken main prompts boil water advisory for 2,400 customers
http://www.wfmz.com/news/news-regional-berks/sinkhole-opens-threate...
"I keep everything in the house and now I don't know if I can get them back. I wish I could," said Chow, who raised her four sons inside her beloved home. Chow raced outside with only the clothes on her back Wednesday night after the sinkhole stretched into her front yard and nearly swallowed the place she's called home for the past 41 years. "My husband tried to open the front door and he couldn't open it,"
Chow said. Terry Maenza, a spokesperson for Pennsylvania American Water, said the company started receiving complaints of low or no water pressure about 8 p.m. Neighbors realized there was a problem, and then they saw the street opening up. "The lamp post out front went down a couple inches and you could see a crack in the house," said Meg Gallagher, who lives across the street from where the cave-in happened. "Then you just saw more of the street going down."

Two homes evacuated after 27-foot deep sinkhole opens up in Seffner
http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/local-news/four-homes-evacuated-a...
The sinkhole is reportedly 27 feet deep and 22 feet wide, roughly 1.5 miles from the sinkhole that swallowed a Seffner man in 2013 .
The original call came from 11918 Clay Pitt Road.
Emergency crews have cleared the scene, and Code Enforcement has taken over.
Code Enforcement said they did not find any evidence the depression will expand, nor did they find any depressions near it.
Authorities said they do not believe the depression is any threat to anyone else; they will develop a plan to monitor the depression.
According to officials, the depression is on private property and will be the responsibility of the homeowners to contact their insurance company to fill it.

Newburgh street on verge of sinkhole collapse
POSTED: 10/29/15, 6:30 AM EDT
NEWBURGH, N.Y. >> A section of Water Street, also known as Marine Drive, is at the risk of imminent collapse and poses a threat to , said Wednesday.
The city engineering department, in consultation with the state Department of Transportation, has closed the street between its intersections with Colden/Fourth Street and Washington Street.
City Michael Ciaravino said a sinkhole 11 feet beneath the street measures about six feet wide by 15 to 17 feet long.
“The sewers in that area are made of brick; they are from the . From what we’ve seen in the camera work, it appears to have been collapsing for quite a long time,” Ciaravino said. “There is a of infrastructure that has completely deteriorated in that area so with each storm that has happened for however long this has been happening, there has been a continuing scouring out of the dirt that supports the sewers in that area.”
Once the full extent of the damage has been determined, Ciaravino said, he would hope city crews would be able to perform most of the work in-house. He is shooting for the project to be completed in as few as seven days.
Detour signs will divert to Washington and Colden Street. Local traffic to the pizza shop will be available.

There’s a hole lot of trouble in Runcton Holme
http://www.lynnnews.co.uk/news/local/there-s-a-hole-lot-of-trouble-...
Tony Shillito and his ill wife Marjorie, from Runcton Holme, Norfolk have both been unable to make urgent medical appointments since the hole appeared yesterday.
Despite visits from Anglian Water and West Norfolk council officials, Mr Shillito has been told that the hole, which is the size of a single bed and about six foot deep, is the responsibility of his insurance company.
Mr Shillito, 75, said: “I’ve been in touch with my insurance company Allianz and they’ve told me that they can’t doing anything about the hole until next week once loss adjusters have been out.
“It’s smack in the middle of my drive and my wife, who has a heart condition and who has also had two hip replacements, has already been unable to make one urgent medical appointment.
“It doesn’t worry me when the hole is fixed, all I want is a metal plate put over the hole just so I can at least get out of my driveway.

Giant sinkhole swallows whole the garden of pensioner, 93, as building work opens up 100ft hole
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3301915/Giant-sinkhole-swal...
Stunned Kathleen Angel watched on in horror as she came within inches of falling down the giant sinkhole as it 'devoured' her garden. Her hydrangeas were left intact, though.
The huge death trap appeared after builders allegedly burst a water pipe during work to construct two new homes nearby.
Kathleen, a widow, said: 'It was a great shock. I heard something and looked up and there it was - a very deep, big hole in the middle of my garden. It is very concerning, very much so.'
The incident occurred on Polwithen Drive in Carbis Bay, near St Ives, Cornwall, behind a large building site.
Several homes were also reportedly flooded during the incident and other residents had their water supply cut off while repairs were carried out.
Next-door neighbour Jim Ashford, 92, said: 'Kathleen has not been coping well, when she heard about it I thought it was going to finish her off.
'She lives on her own, I know her son in law comes to visit her, but she is a very reclusive person.'
His son Nick added: 'The building work is a living nightmare - it's been going on for two months and we were given no warning beforehand about what would happen.
'The effects of it all are terrible, and it all culminated on Saturday, just as the rugby was on, when suddenly a 100ft hole appeared in the garden next door.

Mysterious giant sinkhole swallows at least 15 vehicles in Mississippi
The sinkhole appeared in the parking lot of the new IHOP restaurant on Frontage Road in the city of Meridian. The customers at the restaurant told local WTOK-TV that they heard several booms that were quickly followed by the electricity loss.
At first the frightened customers thought that it was an earthquake, but when they went outside they saw their cars down in a 15-meter-wide, nearly 180-meter-long hole.
"We received a call earlier this evening of a sinkhole opening up at the new IHOP restaurant," Meridian Fire Department Chief Battalion Wayne Cook said. "Upon arrival, we found multiple vehicles in the ditch. At this time, we are trying to stabilize this and keep everyone away."
It is not clear what exactly caused the incident, but the city has seen at least 3 inches (7 cm) of rain this weekend and about 10 inches (25 cm) in the recent two weeks.
"As far as the investigation side of it, that's going to be everybody who is involved with this," Cook added.

Gosforth sinkhole: 20ft crater swallows street to reveal startling find
Police cordoned off Craster Square, Coxlodge, Gosforth, after the crater appeared, revealing old mine workings
A 20ft sinkhole has opened up in a residential street in Newcastle.
Police cordoned off Craster Square, Coxlodge, Gosforth, after the crater appeared, revealing old mine workings.
These shocking pictures and footage shows the gaping chasm which has opened up in front of a row of four garages.
The hole stretches the width of the road, from the edge of one drive to another.
One picture, sent in by Curtis Gabriel, shows a car stranded on a drive after the sinkhole opened up in front of it.
Aerial shots reveal the depth of the crater, which appears to go down at least 20ft.
Resident Daniel Stewart, 24, had a light-hearted approach to the sinkhole appearing in his street.
He said: “I was at work - you never expect to hear about something like this in your own street.
“I was hoping it might bring my rent down!”
Another resident, Leah O’Malley, 20, said: “When I came out of my flat this morning, the ground was fine but there was a lady here who was worried about the state of the ground.
“I went back inside and came back out later to find that the huge hole had appeared. I was absolutely shocked.
“A fire engine and police officers turned up and this lady was shaking. She said she was worried about falling into the sinkhole and it was a shock to find the ground collapsed.
“We are all wondering why this has happened.”
The scene is situated around three miles north of Newcastle city centre in the quiet leafy suburb of Gosforth.

One second, the house is there. Then next, it's just...gone.

Sinkholes in Nayanoripalle, Govt. evacuates villagers
November 22, 2015
Kadapa District Collector K.V. Ramana and Geological Survey of India officials of Hyderabad visited Nayanoripalle village on Sunday and inspected the multiple sinkholes.
The revenue and police officials of Kadapa exhorted the villagers of Nayanoripalle in Chintakommadinne mandal in Kadapa District to vacate the village and move over to safer places and large sinkholes formed in the village could endanger lives.
Kadapa District Collector K.V. Ramana and Geological Survey of India officials of Hyderabad visited Nayanoripalle village on Sunday and inspected the multiple sinkholes. Earlier, officials of the mining and groundwater departments conducted a survey on the Collector’s directions and detected limestone deposits at a depth of 30 feet.
Heavy rains since a week resulted in dissolving of the limestone and soil sunk to depths of 30 feet, the officials deduced. The villagers were panic-stricken with the formation of sinkholes of a diameter of 25 metres at several places in Nayanoripalle.
Nearly a dozen large sink holes were formed near Sri Bugga Malleswara Swamy temple and a mini-water tank atop a 15-foot high cement concrete pedestal sunk into the ground. A sinkhole was formed in front of the mandal parishad school in Nayanoripalle and the school compound wall, a surface-level water tank and a couple of trees fell into it. The sinkhole formation was coupled with defeaning sounds spreading panic among the villagers.
As sinkholes were forming with deafening sounds, the officials called upon the residents to vacate the village, as continuing to live there could endanger lives. Already over a dozen families left the village to take shelter in the houses of their relatives elsewhere. The revenue and police officials are proposing to evacuate the villagers who are continuing in Nayanoripalle.

People warned to stay away from 'football pitch' sized sinkhole in Australia
The sinkhole is believed to be about 100 metres wide
Swimmers have been warned to stay away from a beach after a sinkhole the size of a football pitch opened up.
Officials said the sinkhole swallowed part of Jumpinpin Beach on North Stradbroke Island off of Queensland state in Australia, according to local media.
The sinkhole is believed to be about 100 metres wide.
Surf Life Saving Queensland wrote on Twitter: "North Straddie sinkhole does not = good swimming hole! Stay well back from edge & remember to #swimbetweentheflags".
Another message added: "North Straddie now believed to be affected by significant coastal erosion from strong tidal changes, after consultation with land managers".
The area is reported to be a popular fishing spot, but is only accessible by 4x4.
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service said some of the sand was beginning to return with the tide, the Brisbane Times reported.
"It's an area where the sand is constantly shifting," QPWS southeast regional director Mick Cubis said.
"Queensland's coastal sand masses are dynamic environments and change all the time due to wind, tides and waves."

'Flow slide' causes beach collapse on island in Australia
26 Nov 2015
Authorities warned people to avoid a beach on North Stradbroke Island in Queensland after erosion caused a sinkhole-like “flow slide”, leaving a hole about 330 feet long and 330 feet wide
A section of a beach the size of a football field has suddenly broken off due to a “flow slide” at a popular tourist island in Australia, prompting warnings to avoid the area.
The collapse of part of the beach on North Stradbroke Island in the state of Queensland is believed to have been caused by a slide triggered by erosion due to strong tides. The event left a hole about 330 feet long and 330 feet wide.
"It is going to make it a very massive hazard," Michael Bates, a local lifeguard, told ABC News.
"It is not a safe area for swimming area at all, due to it being so unstable, unpredictable and varying depth and the strong water movement.”
The beach is popular with fishermen but was empty when the collapse occurred.

Sinkhole, at least 90 feet deep, closes Lake Park in Lutz
http://www.tbo.com/northwest-tampa/lake-park-in-lutz-closes-after-s...
LUTZ — A narrow but deep sinkhole has forced Hillsborough County officials to close one of its largest parks.
The sinkhole already had forced the cancellation of the 36th annual Lutz Art & Crafts Festival, which originally was scheduled for Saturday in the park.
Lake Park, one of the county’s largest parks, is on land owned by the city of St. Petersburg, which has used it as a well field. The wells have not been pumping recently, officials said, and likely are not the cause of the sinkhole. The park is just west of Dale Mabry Highway and south of Van Dyke Road in Lutz and draws an estimated 300,000 visitors a year, county officials said.
Limestone deposits lie just beneath the park’s surface, said Forest Turbiville, the county’s director of conservation and environmental lands management.
“Limestone is highly porous,’’ Turbiville said. “We think that a piece of limestone just broke and fell.”
The cause of that may lie in the summer rains that saturated the soil across West Central Florida in July and August. Sections of the park had flooded and have been closed since August after the region sustained a couple months of record and near-record daily rainfall.
The section of the park where the 6-foot-wide sinkhole was discovered had been closed for three to four weeks while geoscientists with sinkhole consultants Ardaman & Associates assessed what appeared to be a depression off the dirt road that circles around the south end of the park.
The consultants told the county the “throat” of the sinkhole extended down 90 to 110 feet.
Whether the subterranean cavern is wider is unknown, Turbiville said.

The sinkhole is located approximately 2.5 miles east of Dolph Junction in Yamhill County. Officials with the Oregon Department of Transportation said it's 5 feet deep and stretches across the highway. No one had reported seeing the sinkhole before the accident occurred.
The driver went into the sinkhole around midnight and it took crews two hours to get the semi-truck out.
Repairs are expected to take at least a week, according to ODOT. Until then, travelers should plan on using OR 18 as an alternate route.
A hazardous materials crew was also working to clean up the diesel fuel.

Massive Sinkhole Threatens to Swallow Homes in Florida Neighborhood
A massive 60-by-50-foot sinkhole 15-feet deep opened up overnight in Ocala, Florida, and is threatening to swallow homes in the town's Oak Run neighborhood, according to the Marion County office.
Homeowners who live near the sinkhole were evacuated Tuesday night, and all other residents in the immediate area "were advised to be prepared to evacuate," Marion County Public Information Officer Elaine McClain told ABC News today.
An roadway was damaged and closed off, but no one was hurt, she added.
Investigators have found a "12-inch water main break," but since "no one was present in the area when the sinkhole opened up, it's not possible to say if the sinkhole activity or the water main break occurred first," McClain explained.
"Under normal circumstances, when a sinkhole opens, the water pipe will break, since it loses the support of the soil underneath it and it can't handle the burden of the soil on top of it," she added.
A Marion County building inspector has been called to the scene to determine the safety of homes by the sinkhole, McClain said.
Other county authorities responded to the scene Tuesday night, including the county's fire rescue, sheriff's office, utilities department, risk management department and building department, according to McClain.

Sinkholes, slides endanger entire neighborhood in Tillamook
http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2015/12/...
It began Monday as a few little cracks on Burton Hill Road, just outside Tillamook. By Wednesday the cracks had collapsed into a quarter-mile series of sinkholes and creeping mud that put three homes at risk, pushed a barn off its foundation and left homeowners fearful of what will move next.
As the rains continue, they say only one thing is clear:
No one is coming to the rescue.
Morgan Kottre, 27, said she and her neighbors – some of them relatives – have been told by county, state and federal officials that they don't qualify for assistance because Burton Hill Road and the lower Hillside Drive are private roads on private land. Same story from at least one insurance company. Kottre said a representative told one family the devastation qualifies as an "act of god," which the insurer doesn't cover.
"In theory, we could try to fight it," she said, "but right now we're just trying to fight the land."

Oregon: Sinkhole appears in Harbor parking lot
http://www.currypilot.com/News/Local-News/Sinkhole-appears-in-Harbo...
No people were injured nor vehicles damaged when the hole opened up this morning, according to property owner David Allen. The hole doesn’t pose a threat to any lanes on the highway, yet.
“At first it just looked like a deep puddle of water and then it collapsed,” Allen said. “I’m glad nobody was parked there.”
The Oregon Department of Transportation sent a crew to inspect the hole, and they determined it was caused by a failing culvert buried 30 feet below the surface. The 48-inches wide pipe runs east to west under Highway 101, starting in the shopping center on the east side of the highway.
“The pipe was built sometime in the 1970s,” said ODOT spokesman Jared Castle. “We know it’s going to get larger, but there’s nothing we can do until it stops raining.”
He added, “We’re going through the old records to learn more about the pipe and how best to deal with it.”
Meanwhile, ODOT officials are monitoring the situation hourly and will take action to protect the public if the sinkhole spreads into the highway lanes, he said.
Caution cones have been placed around the hole, which destroyed about two parking spaces at the far end of the parking lot. The Fireside Grill is not threatened by the sinkhole and is still open for business, Allen said.

UK: Giant 20ft deep sinkhole swallows man after opening up in middle of quiet street
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/giant-20ft-deep-sinkhole-swall...
Firefighters were called to the hole in Nantyffyllon, Maesteg, early this morning after reports a man had fallen in.
A spokesman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the man had been “recovered prior to our arrival”, was assessed by fire crews and did not need to be taken to hospital .
Fire crews closed the road after the two-metres-square hole appeared.
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue added: “We were called at 7.49am to reports a pavement had collapsed.
“There’s a two-metres-square hole in the pavement extending to a large underground chamber.”
Highways officers from Bridgend council, gas and electricity engineers, Welsh Water and the police all remain at the scene of the hole, which a council spokesman said could open out into an old mine shaft or something related to a former mine.
He added that the hole had opened up outside the old miners’ institute, which is now a block of flats.
“Quite a small number of residents from those flats have been evacuated and will be staying with friends and family.
“If anyone has not got anywhere to stay, the council will be able to help them,” he said.
The spokesman added that the residential street, which is not a main road, will remain closed to traffic “for the foreseeable future”, although all other residents will have access to their homes.
