"Stretch zones primarily experience sinking ground, as the support in the rock strata is stretched thin. Thus, buildings implode and gas and water mains break." ZetaTalk
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What happens to rock layers under a diagonal pull, or being pulled apart? As can be seen during recent years, this has resulted in derailing trains, sinkholes suddenly appearing, gas and water main breaks, torn roadways and separating bridges. Despite the effect on man, crawling about on the surface of what they assume to be terra firma, these changes are superficial. When the pulling starts, weak points break and thereafter the plumbing and roadways hold, giving the impression that the pulling has stopped, but this is misleading. The North American continent is giving evidence that its rock layers are separating from each other, and sliding sideways in a diagonal, thus exposing portions of these layers to vent into the air above. If rock is being stressed, then where are the earthquake predictors giving evidence of this, the frantic animals, the static on the radio, the earthquake swarms? Rock in the stretch zone, pulling apart rather than compressing, does not emit the particles flows that animals and radios sense, nor register on instruments are tension and release quakes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We have repeatedly stated that the Earth changes will not diminish, but will increase going into the pole shift.
This is not a lineal matter, as the closer Planet X comes to Earth, an inevitable path, the more the torque effect and the polar wobble where the N Pole of Earth is pushed away violently on a daily basis, occur. The wobble will become more pronounced, more violent. The plates are tugged back West of the Atlantic, pulled forward East of the Atlantic, during the daily rotation of the Earth. The North American continent is allowed to roll East during rotation while the S Pole is pulled West, creating the diagonal pull likely to trigger the New Madrid fault line into an adjustment, and soon. The N Pole is pushed away and allowed to bounce back, daily, as the Earth rotates, a wobble that puts stress on all fault lines when the plates are suddenly in motion, and suddenly stopped!
"As there is no other explanation for the effect on the stretch zone, lacking any earthquakes to blame, and as these stretch zone accidents will continue to emerge, and with ferocity, this is a certain clue to those on the fence, that the influence of Planet X is the cause. Or is it Global Warming?"
ZetaTalk Chat Q&A for April 13, 2013
"Sinkholes almost invariably form in areas subject to karst limestone cavern formation. Underground water flows eat away the limestone leaving vast caverns and caves, which often give scant indication above ground that a cavern lies below. Karst limestone rock formations have been mapped and are known, however, but since one never knows just where a cavern might have formed, this provides little help in predicting just where a sinkhole might form. Sinkholes open up when the rock is fractured due to stress from being in the stretch zone, from the bending of a plate, or due to torsion."

Huge North Londonderry Township (Pennsylvania) sinkhole stymies local, state, federal officials
Beth Steffan was terrified the night Tropical Storm Lee let loose its deluge on her North Londonderry Township home in 2011.
She watched from her window as her yard disappeared into a sinkhole, just feet from her house. She listened as her home cracked and creaked and tilted toward the gaping hole in what was once a storm water retention pond.
Her husband Brad eventually made it home from Hershey through the flood waters, and they made their escape. But it was two months before their home was deemed safe enough to enter so they could retrieve their belongings.
The house will be torn down soon, too damaged to repair, but the sinkhole remains, and no one knows what to do about it.
The Steffans are not the only ones who are worried. So are their neighbors in their Windsor Crossing development.
The damage is spreading, and neighbors worry about their property values. A home next to the Steffans on Pajabon Drive, owned by Joann Grimm, has already been torn down. Sinkholes are creeping under the fence of property belonging to neighbor Gerald Dougherty.
Neighbors approached Lebanon County Commissioners in April to ask for help. Commissioners said they would contact state and federal officials to see if anything can be done, then convene another meeting.
They held that meeting Wednesday. North Londonderry Twp. supervisors, state representative Mauree Gingrich, and representatives of state senator Mike Folmer and U.S. Representative Charlie Dent were there.
Commissioner William Ames opened up the meeting by telling the audience what they had learned: Nothing.
“I have heard nothing new and refreshing,” he said. “There are no new discoveries or anything.”
The government officials said there is nothing they can do to help because the retention pond is on private property, and is therefore the responsibility of the property owner.
“We have hundreds of sinkholes in Lebanon County,” commissioner Jo Ellen Litz said. “If every tax payer asked for help for sinkholes, it would bankrupt the county.”
Although the pond is on the Steffans' property, it drained storm water from all 35 homes in Windsor Crossing and the streets.
Brad Steffan said he knew when he bought the property that he would be responsible for maintaining the retention pond. He thought that meant mowing the grass, not spending a quarter million dollars to repair it. He had already repaired smaller sinkholes from earlier rains at his own expense.
“A retention pond is built to accept the water of the township,” he said. “I unknowingly bought into this. Now I'm caught in this, the neighborhood is caught in this. We're looking to our government to help us.”
Steffan said his insurance company paid to build them another home elsewhere, but would not cover damage to the yard. FEMA, which provided money for flood damaged homes after Lee, would also not cover the sinkhole, he said.
Keith Kilgore, solicitor for North Londonderry Twp., suggested forming a homeowners' association and getting everyone to pitch in to repair the sinkhole, and then take over ownership of the property.
Steffan said it could be a hard sell to convince residents farther from the sinkhole to pay thousands of dollars each when there is no guarantee the fix would last.
Loli Thomsen, whose property abuts the Steffans', asked why the development and its storm water management system were approved by the township and county to begin with. She pushed the officials again and again for help.
County officials said the plans met code when they were approved in 2002, so they could not legally reject them. Regulations have become more stringent since, they said.
Litz said the pond was developed for a 100 year flood, but Lee was considered a 500 year flood. It was “an act of God” and not government's responsibility, she said.
She said maybe the state should pass new legislation so this doesn't happen in the future, maybe by making sure the developer or a homeowners association maintains ownership of storm water retention ponds.

Maryland Sinkhole Almost Swallows Car (May 14)
A Maryland driver was just trying to run to the store but instead got stuck in a gaping mud hole.
City crews say a water main break is to blame but they are not sure how it happened.
The driver says he was just pulling out of his driveway and started to sink into the ground.
He was able to get out safely.
"The car was... it was level at one point; then it just started to crumble, I mean, fall into the road," said Quency Bynum, lost car in a sinkhole. "It's a wash. Once all the electronic components get wet, it’s a wash."
The car has since been pulled out of the sinkhole.
Nearly 100 neighbors are without water while crews work to fix the pipes.

This is the bizarre moment a family of five got the shock of their lives when a giant sinkhole opened up and swallowed their car.
The Chinese family had been driving in Hetian, western China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region, when the road suddenly collapsed and the front of the car fell in.
Father Alimu, whose wife and three children were also in the car, was unable to open the door as the sinkhole got bigger over the next 30 minutes until their vehicle almost completely disappeared.
Unable to open his door, Alimu and his wife were forced to clamber into the back and escape that way with their children.
It was eventually pulled out using a crane, covered in mud and with a crumpled front.

Indoor Sinkhole Swallows Man on Forklift in New Jersey (May 20)
A forklift operator was swallowed by a 10-foot-deep sinkhole when the floor of the New Jersey warehouse where he was working gave way underneath him. The hole was described as being about 40 feet by 40 feet wide.
Officials said the man was rescued and taken to a hospital with minor injuries after the fall into the hole in East Rutherford Monday afternoon.
The warehouse, which stores nonperishable food, was evacuated after the floor collapsed.
Rescuers said the forklift helped protect the man, shielding him from being crushed when he fell.

5 die in 33-foot sinkhole that opened up in China
Five people died when a 10 metre (33 feet) wide sinkhole opened up at the gates of an industrial estate in Shenzhen, the southern Chinese boom town neighbouring Hong Kong, local authorities said Tuesday.
The Shenzhen Longgang district government said on its verified page on Sina Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, that five people had died and added that it was investigating the incident.
The sinkhole formed just outside the Huamao Industrial Park in Shenzhen on Monday evening, at a time when many factory workers would have been changing shifts, according to the website of Beijing-based newspaper the Guangming Daily.
Reports said it was unclear how many people had fallen into the hole in total, but the search was continuing on Tuesday.
Sinkholes in China are often blamed on construction works and the country’s rapid pace of development.
Surveillance cameras in March captured images of a security guard being swallowed by a sinkhole, also in Shenzhen.
Two months ago a man was killed when his bedroom was swallowed by a eight metre (25 feet) sinkhole in Florida, in the US.

Ohio Home Condemned After Sinkhole Opens Beneath It (May 23)
A sinkhole estimated at 30 feet deep has opened under a Norwood house.
Residents of the home in the 1900 block of Maple Avenue said they noticed a problem with the power around 4 a.m.
When they tried to check the problem, they found a basement filled with roughly 8 feet of water.
Photos: Sinkhole swallows part of basement
But when they returned about a half hour later, the water had receded and the sinkhole was visible.
One resident says his mattress was sucked down into it.
The landlord tells WLWT she complained to the city of Norwood and the Metropolitan Sewer District back in January about a hole on the exterior of the building.
She said she questioned two engineers about the foundation, but was told the house was structurally sound.
The landlord says she's been told that the sinkhole could have been caused by a collapsed storm drain 20 feet underground.
The house has been condemned, and Maple Street is closed near the home.

Horse Rescued from Sinkhole Near Duluth, Minnesota (May 7)
Members of the Wrenshall Fire and Rescue Squad could hardly believe their eyes when they responded to a call along the Willard Munger State Trail on the evening of May 7 and found a horse swallowed by the ground.
Melissa Aurand of Eagan, Minn., had been riding a horse named Stormy, belonging to her husband’s stepfather, Hank Dubrent, along an unpaved stretch of the trail just before 7 p.m. Her husband, Zach, was riding ahead of her.
“All of a sudden, Stormy started to sort of topple sideways,” Melissa
Aurand said. “I thought maybe she had passed out or something. I was tossed off just as her back legs began to slip into the ground.”
Alert to what was happening, Zach jumped off his horse and ran back to where Melissa was checking to see if the wrist she had landed on was injured.
“The horse was slowly sinking into the ground, like she was in quicksand,” Melissa said.
Zach grabbed Stormy’s halter and tried to tow her out with his horse, but to no avail. Stormy went from sliding slowly into the hole to disappearing completely beneath ground level.
Through it all, Melissa said, Stormy remained calm.
“She’s the most amazing horse ever,” Melissa said.
Zach jumped down into the gaping hole to check on the horse and keep her steady until help arrived. Melissa said her cell phone was in her saddle pack, so Zach had to dig it out and toss it up to her so she could call 911.
“The girl on the phone really calmed me down,” Melissa said. “I told her I needed help because my horse was stuck in the ground, and she had to make me stop and take a deep breath before she could actually catch on to what I was talking about.”
When seven responders from Wrenshall Fire and Rescue pulled up, they walked to Melissa and said casually, “How’s it going?” It was then that Zach stuck his cowboy hat up through the hole and started waving it at them.
“The man was about 6 feet tall, and when we got there all we could see was the top of his cowboy hat,” said Peter Laveau, first assistant chief. “The hole must have been 9 or 10 feet deep.”
Laveau said the sinkhole was big enough for the horse and Zach to stand up in.
A Carlton County sheriff’s deputy who also had responded to the call set to work trying to find a backhoe to help dig the horse out. In the meantime, one of the Wrenshall Fire and Rescue Squad members asked Zach what kind of ramp the horse would need to climb out of the hole.
“He told us he thought something with a 45-degree angle would be enough for the horse to get out,” Laveau said.
The rescue squad had shovels in their rig, so they shoveled for about 10 minutes to reposition the dirt around the edges of the sinkhole into a slope. Zach lifted himself out, and with a bit of encouragement, the horse followed suit.
Laveau said that while the horse was “somewhat sweaty and shook up,” with a small cut on its shoulder, it seemed to be all right.
“She looked pretty good for what she had gone through,” he said.

The sinkhole in downtown Washington will continue to block lanes and impede traffic until the end of the work week, officials said Tuesday.
Authorities shut down parts of 14th and F streets in Northwest Washington last week after a pit opened at the intersection, which is blocks from the White House and in an area full of restaurants and hotels.
The work is taking so long because workers digging down to the sewer line have to navigate a complex thicket of utility lines and old trolley tracks, according to George S. Hawkins, general manager of the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority.
“It’s been the most complicated street repair I’ve seen since I’ve been on the job,” Hawkins said at a news conferencein front of the sinkhole.

Massive Sinkhole Forms By Oklahoma Highway (June 1)
A large section of land adjacent to a highway in eastern Oklahoma County collapsed on Saturday morning. Amazingly, cars were still driving by on this dangerous highway as water rushed over the road, pouring off in a literal waterfall into a huge sinkhole.
Five to ten inches of rain fell from the most recent storm system. According to NBC affiliate KFOR May 2013 will now go down as the wettest May on record for Oklahoma City.
Severe weather in central Oklahoma has caused widespread damage and flooding in an already storm-battered region.
Several tornadoes raged through the Oklahoma City metro area on Friday evening. The death toll was still rising Saturday as officials assessed the storm damage again.
Less than two weeks ago, a massive EF-5 tornado killed 24 people in Moore, Oklahoma and destroyed major parts of the community.

The hole is estimated to be 15 to 20 feet deep and spans three lanes of traffic.
An engineer from the City of Crystal said the sinkhole is not weather related - as initially thought. A 36-inch water main broke Saturday night, rupturing a sewer line.
The pipe is from 1963, but was supposed to be useable for about 80 years, the engineer said.
Crews say it could take three weeks to repair the sewer line, storm drain and fill the sinkhole.

Ohio sinkhole swallows woman's car - July 3

A sinkhole swallowed a car with a woman inside on Wednesday in Toledo, Ohio, police said.
Pamela Knox, 60, was driving around noon when she noticed the car ahead of her was sinking but had managed to make it over a collapsing sinkhole, officials said.
Police Sergeant Joe Heffernan told the Toledo Blade that Knox couldn’t also escape the developing hole when she drove over it.
Knox was eventually able to climb out with the help of a ladder and was not hurt but rattled, said Heffernan. She was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution, he said.
According to the Toledo Blade, the car was removed from the gaping hole around 4:00 p.m. and the next step will be to repair the street, which could take four to five days.

Sanchez had to be pulled out of a sinkhole Monday by East Joliet Firefighters when the ground gave way in the mobile home park in southwest suburban Joliet Township.
Around 6 p.m. Sanchez and her son were walking past a nearby home when she stopped to talk to a neighbor near a parking space and a steel drain, she said.
Without warning, she fell into the ground and had to hold on to her son and try to brace her feet against the drain, she said.
“I was freaking out,” Sanchez said. “The more I kept trying to get up, the more I kept falling in.”
Sanchez said she was lucky a van was parked in the spot so she could hold onto the bumper while her son called 911.
“All I could see were feet when (firefighters) arrived,” she said, adding that she was thankful for their help.
Sanchez was pulled from the hole and taken to the hospital. Her buttocks and groin were badly bruised from the impact, she said.
Sanchez was using ice packs and medication to cope with the pain Wednesday. Insurance issues were preventing her from going to see an orthopedic specialist the hospital recommended.
“I’m afraid to go back down that way, my mind is still not right,” she said. “I’m concerned someone else could get hurt.”

JEDBURG, South Carolina — Traffic is snarled for miles in both directions on Interstate 26 because a sinkhole opened between Charleston and the junction with Interstate 95.
Transportation Department spokesman James Law says fast moving water washed out the soil beneath a drainage culvert under the highway at mile marker 192 near Jedburg Road.
The sinkhole is in the eastbound passing lane but there is also equipment in the westbound passing lane as crews work to put in sheeting to block water from draining into the sinkhole. A single lane of traffic is moving in each direction.
The sinkhole was first reported July 5 and repaired. The problem has worsened. The sinkhole now is about the width of an interstate lane and about 25 feet long.

Parked Car Partially Consumed by Sinkhole in Philadelphia (July 30)
In Philadelphia's Hunting Park section early Tuesday, the nose of a car sank down below the street with its rear end raised in the air.
Residents watched as the hole got deeper, and the lean on the car greater. A tow truck was called.
The owner said they had to call another tow truck to get it out because the first truck couldn't do it.
PGW crews were on scene for hours with jackhammers and shovels. Neighbors watched the progression around the car that remained tilted on its two front wheels.
Action News spoke with a representative from the Water Department, who explained that a water main break caused the sinkhole, and that the car that was parked above just fell right in as the street collapsed.
When the car fell, it landed on a PGW service main. PGW says there is no gas leak and no evacuations are necessary.
However, as a precaution, gas service was temporarily turned off to four nearby homes and crews will also replace the gas main after the car is safely removed.

Sinkhole 200 Feet Across Opens in Kansas (August 2)
A gigantic sinkhole 200 feet across and 90 feet deep appeared in western Kansas this week.
A local police officer said the sinkhole appears to be getting bigger. “Man had nothing to do with this. This is a God thing. There’s no oil well around here, there are no irrigation wells anywhere near. This is something that just happened,” Sheriff Townsend told the station.
Another local, Virgil Fisher, asked: “How can this happen? What happened to what was below?”
"I'd seen pictures and I knew it was deep, but I didn't think it was this deep. You get out here and you get a whole different perspective on how deep it is," said Gavin Mote.
You really can't get a good sense of the size and scope unless you walk up close to it. And just how safe that is remains a question. There are large cracks right next to the sinkhole. Sheriff Larry Townsend said it appears to be getting bigger and he doesn't know what's going to stop it.
Across the United States, there are reports of sinkholes nearly every day.

wow, overnight. This pond was pretty shallow and not too old if it still had tree trunks in the water. But overnight, is very disconcerting to these people. Wonder if anyone will put all this together after the announcement.

Building collapses as 40-foot sinkhole opens up in Florida resort near Disney World
Lake County Fire Rescue
A building at a Florida resort collapsed early Monday after a sinkhole opened up.
A 40-foot-wide sinkhole caused a three-story building at a Florida resort near Disney World to collapse early Monday.
Lake County Fire Rescue
Everyone in the building was evacuated safety before part of it collapsed.
Firefighters arrived at the Summer Bay Resort, near Clermont, at about 11:30 p.m. ET after people reported the building had started to shake, Lake County Fire Rescue's Battalion Chief Special Operations Tony Cuellar said.
Cuellar said the sinkhole was beneath a central elevator shaft connected by breezeways to two apartment blocks.
“The building on the west side … a portion of that structure just collapsed. It’s literally breaking in half,” he said at about 3:20 a.m. ET.
The elevator building was leaning over at “about 30 or 40 degrees,” Cuellar said.
Cuellar said the hole was about 10 feet deep and 40 feet in diameter.
“It’s not expanding outward so we’re just watching it to see if it’s sinking downward,” he said.
The resort - about 10 miles west of the Disney attraction – had made 50 other rooms available to the evacuees, Cuellar added.

Sinkhole Implodes Disney World Hotel in Florida (Aug 12)

A 100-foot-wide sinkhole formed under a resort in central Florida late Sunday, forcing guests out of their rooms as one three-story building collapsed and another slowly sank.
Guests at the Summer Bay Resort in Clermont, about 10 minutes from Walt Disney World, called for help before the collapse, saying they heard loud noises and windows cracking. All guests inside the buildings -- an estimated 35 people, authorities said -- were evacuated before the first structure crumbled.
A deep crater swallowed much of one building, Lake County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Tony Cuellar said. Aerial video from CNN affiliate WFTV showed one end of the building -- which had held two-bedroom, two-bathroom villas -- still standing, but the rest reduced to pile of debris.
The evacuation started after 10:30 p.m., when a guest told a security guard about a "window blowing out," resort president Paul Caldwell told reporters Monday morning.
After another window broke in the guard's presence, one of the buildings began visibly sinking about 11 p.m., Caldwell said. No injuries were reported.
A couple and their infant escaped through a window because a door frame collapsed, witness Maggie Ghamry told WFTV.
"One person had to break out of a window because the door frame collapsed. He, his wife and an infant, he had to break the window so they could escape. There were windows breaking everywhere. One woman was sitting in the tub and the tub levitated and that's when she just grabbed a pair of shorts and came out with nothing. So, it was the most surreal experience I never could have imagined in my wildest dreams," said witness Maggie Ghamry.
That woman wasn't the only one to leave belongings behind. Other guests left keys and bags in their rooms, and it wasn't clear Monday morning whether guests would be able to get items back from parts of the collapsed building, Caldwell said.

A sinkhole has swallowed the once-vibrant lake that sits at the intersection of Southeast 17th Street and 25th Avenue.
Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wes Herren, property manager for the Woodland Villages Association, told the Star-Banner he noticed something seemed different with the lake.
A few hours later, Herren said his phone was bombarded with calls from people – residents and passersby alike. By 4:30 p.m., Herren said, the lake “was essentially gone.”
“I just watched it going down and down,” he said, adding they called engineers, area contractors and the city’s Public Works Department, seeking advice on what they could do to keep the pond from draining.
Shortly before nightfall, and after numerous phone calls placed to Ocala Police Department and the county’s dispatch center, there was no more water, and all that remained were globs of mud and floundering fish.
Herren estimates the body of water at about five acres, and he said it was roughly eight feet deep in some places.
The sinkhole, which apparently sucked in the water, is situated more to the clubhouse side and was about 15 feet across.
Until the morning, Herren said the clubhouse, swimming pool and tennis court area are off limits for safety purposes.
Woodland Villages is home to some 700 residents who live in estate homes, condominiums, town homes; manor homes and patio homes. Woodland Villages has existed since 1984, the same amount of time the body of water has been in existence, Herren said.

Dangerous holes force evacuation in Quang Ninh [TUOITRENEWS: 22 August 2013]
Several incidents of land subsidence occurred in northern Quang Ninh province on August 21, resulting in the creation of five large holes that pose a risk to locals
Several incidents of land subsidence occurred in northern Quang Ninh province yesterday, resulting in the creation of five large holes that pose a risk to locals, forcing the evacuation of dozens of families to safe places, authorities reported.
The occurrence took place at 5 am on August 21 in the Thuy Son residential area in Cam Son Distrcit, Cam Pha City, when a local man, Luu Dinh Son, realized he couldn’t open the front door of his house, as the house’s floor had sunk, thus blocking the door.
After some neighbors helped Son force the door open, a small hole formed underground and it rapidly cracked and subsided, resulting in a larger, deeper one.
At noon, more subsidence continued to occur, creating four more holes, the largest and deepest of which was 15 meters wide and 7 meters deep.
Along with sunken land, numerous houses in the area had sustained cracked walls and foundation damage. Of the houses, four could collapse at any time, authorities warned.
Concerned agencies helped the affected household in removing people and property to safe places.
The Cam Son Ward People’s Committee mobilized forces to level the holes to protect locals and ensure traffic safety. Authorities also erected signs warning people not to enter dangerous areas.
Recently, Cam Pha City and Ha Long City have seen many deadly holes suddenly appear.
Vu Van Hien, chairman of the ward committee, said several groups of scientists from central and provincial levels have arrived in Cam Pha to study the situation.
Initial results of one geological survey revealed that there are many underground water reservoirs in Cam Son, Hien said.
On October 2, 2011, the third land subsidence within a month occurred in Quang Ninh, creating a huge hole that led to an urgent evacuation of tens of families.
The accident occurred along with a terrible noise from underground in Cao Xanh Ward, Ha Long City, leaving a large hole, 5 m wide and 20 m deep, which put many houses nearby at risk of collapse.
Soon afterwards, authorities urgently evacuated 14 families and continued to move many others to safe places.

Massive sinkhole opens on I-80 near Truckee CA - August 22
http://www.rgj.com/article/20130823/NEWS/130823006?nclick_check=1
Just after more millions of people viewed an Internet video of a swamp sinkhole swallowing Louisiana trees, Truckee swallowed media attention of its own Friday.
Sierra Nevada Construction employees were working at midnight Thursday on center median construction when they uncovered a large hole in the middle of Interstate 80 just west of Donner Pass Road. The hole tunneled south toward Donner Lake underneath the eastbound lanes.
For most of the day, the sinkhole was a head scratcher and still remains a mystery, officials said.
Early in the day, a California Highway Patrol officer removed his vest with a camera attached and connected it to a pole, leading the camera down the hole.
"They still couldn’t see the bottom. That’s when you know we have a problem," California Department of Transportation spokeswoman Rochelle Jenkins said.

Land subsidence creates hole that swallows bed, woman [TUOITRENEWS: 27 August 2013]
This large hole, 7 meters wide and 3 meters deep, is created from a land subsidence in a house in northen Quang Ninh Province on August 26, 2013.
A bed and the woman who was sleeping on it fell into a large hole that was created by land subsidence in northern Quang Ninh Province last night, the latest incident following one that forced the evacuation of dozens of families last week.
At 1 am on August 26, a terrible noise was heard coming from the house of Bui Ba Thanh in Hai Son 1 Quarter, Cam Dong Ward, Cam Pha City, before a hole measuring 7 meters wide and 3 meters deep appeared under the house.
The dangerous hole swallowed a bed and the woman, Bui Thi Thu, who was sleeping on it. Luckily, she suffered only slight injuries from the incident.
Several nearby houses were left with cracked walls and sunken floors.
Nguyen Trong Minh, chairman of the People’s Committee of Cam Pha City, said he has ordered concerned agencies to evacuate a number of families from dangerous areas or areas that are considered vulnerable to land subsidence.
Minh said the authorities have invited the Geophysics Technology Joint Stock Company, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, to conduct a survey to identify the causes of the recent land subsidence.
Last week, five incidents occurred separately on the morning of August 21 in the city, forcing the evacuation of dozens of families.

Huge Sinkhole Opens Up Outside Colorado Springs Home
Sinkhole outside of a home on the 2700 block of Flintridge.
"A gentlemen knocked on my door today and said he wanted to inform me that my driveway was missing."
When a Colorado Springs homeowner went to look for herself Sunday night, she said she was stunned to find that her neighbor was indeed right--much of her driveway had been swallowed up. What was left was a gaping hole more than 25 feet deep.
The driveway, located on the 2700 block of Flintridge, likely gave way after days of intense rainfall in much of the state. Though it took much of her driveway, the homeowner says her house was not damaged.
"I'm safe, my house was fine...it just happens to be right there, but no one was hurt," she told 11 News.
Road crews have worked through the night, using heavy equipment to help secure the sinkhole, and carving away loose dirt and asphalt. Equipment is now on its way from Denver, which crews will use to shore up the sides of the hole before filling it in.
Repairs are expected to take up most of the day. While road crews work, the area has been blocked off to keep cars from driving right into the gaping hole. Some gas lines in the area also had to be shut off during the repair work.
The Flintridge sinkhole wasn't the only one to form in Colorado Springs Sunday; another one also formed in front of Martinez Elementary School at Vickers and Rangewood. That one was also reportedly caused by heavy flooding.

10-foot deep Kitchener sinkhole result of water main break
CBC News Posted: Sep 15, 2013 10:02 PM ET Last Updated: Sep 16, 2013 7:48 PM ET
Crews work in a large sinkhole that formed on Sunday afternoon when a 12-inch water main broke at the intersection of Mill and Heiman streets in Kitchener. (Jane van Koeverden/CBC)
A 12-inch water main broke under Mill and Heiman streets on Sunday afternoon, causing a 10-foot deep sinkhole and leaving around 40 residents without water for several hours.
Water was restored to those residents just before midnight on Sunday.
Manager of Operations for Kitchener Utilities, Tammer Gaber, said the city became aware of the situation around 3 p.m. when residents began reporting reduced water pressure throughout the city.
“Water mains do break throughout the year, so we do get roughly 80-100 main breaks a year. It could be related to soil conditions, it could be related to pressures and that sort,” Gaber said,
Except for local traffic, a portion of Mill Street was closed on Sunday evening while Kitchener Utility crews worked. The street is expected to be fully open on Monday.
