On Monday, May 11th, we had a surge of power through our house so great, that it magnified the brightness of our lightbulbs tenfold. The lights and one of the circuits proceeded to burn out, and the surge fried anything that was plugged in—as a strong burst of magnetic energy would. Even a surge strip did not keep the cable box from being fried. This type of situation has never occurred in our home in over 50 years. The event occurred at a little after 13:00 pm CST, or 18:00 UTC. No source was found for the surge, only a fried wire, which had caused a burning smell in the home. Certainly a malfunctioning wire, more than like fried by the surge as well, would not cause a surge in power, but a reduction in it. Would the Zetas care to comment on whether we are now experiencing EMPs from PX on a more frequent basis? If so, would it be recommended that all electronics not in use be disconnected from their power source? Space was relatively quiet, but the magnetosphere was fluctuating widely. [and from another] http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/live-deansgate-power-cut-updates-9258700 The cut was said to have been caused by an electrical surge. People in the area say "Smoke was coming from the electric cupboard from 86 Deansgate when the power surge hit. 4 fire engines responded to the call". Jade Barrow is a receptionist at 86 Deansgate, and said the whole building shook. She said: "The firemen explained to me that an electrical surge is like 2 magnets hitting each other. That's why it all shook because of the force." [and from another]http://poleshift.ning.com/profiles/blog/show?id=3863141%3ABlogPost%3A998556&commentId=3863141%3AComment%3A999341&xg_source=activity May 15. After 15 days with approximately 300 hours of missing data, it appears the uninterrupted BATSRUS RCM image feed has resumed.
Air France 447 in 2009 and Malaysia 370 and the recent Germanwings A320 are in the news because they impact the airline industry, and the blame thus placed elsewhere. To date, pilot suicide, storms, and bad pilot judgement have been used, and how is the public to know otherwise? Electric trains such as the Disney Monorail and DC Metro crash incidents in 2009 and the recent Amtrak 188 go into investigation while talking heads murmur about safety devices or track maintenance or mechanical failure, which ultimately get the blame.
It is only when the public is broadly affected that the public can get a hint that something else is afoot. Cell phones are regularly having disrupted service but the blame is placed on blocked access to towers or bad weather. The blackberry outage in 2008 was blamed on a software glitch. If the public is frankly being lied to, engineers responsible for maintaining equipment and the grid are not fooled. The talk has spilled over into the press, or into conversations with the public. During the Washington DC blackout, the electrical problem was described at first by the Washington Post as a “surge”.
This is a key determinant between a failed electrical system, a simple outage, and electro-magnetic pulse. Pulse is a surge, and the sudden increase in the amount of magnetons and their associated electrons, such that equipment controlled by a steady pace of either particle flow goes into a runaway state. When equipment is guarded by surge protection, to guard against lightning strikes, it will shut down, as a brownout situation can damage equipment. But unless a lightning strike was present, there can be no excuse for a pulse or surge other than the presence of the charged tail of Planet X, aka Nibiru.
What can the public expect? As cell phone service and cable TV via satellite continues to degrade, as airplanes increasingly crash during complete electronics failure or are forced to land with smoke in their cockpits, as electric trains surge off the tracks and brakes fail, as transformers explode at dams and on the grid, and as residential lights flicker and erratic and unexplained and spotty blackouts descend, the public can expect endless inane excuses from the establishment. The truth will be withheld because mankind is so dependent upon his electrical systems and equipment that the thought of being without is unthinkable. It is mass denial.

UPDATE: Local communities to train for mass power outage scenario
MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) - The Wisconsin National Guard is helping communities prepare for a possible long-term mass power outage.
A full-scale training exercise known as Dark Sky is May 15-17 in Brown, Calumet, Dane, Fond du Lac, Milwaukee, Outagamie and Winnebago Counties.
Utility companies, law enforcement and first responders will be part of the power outage simulation.
"The what ifs. We're trying to fill in those spots for the what ifs," said Rob Olson, Outagamie County Emergency Management.
The National Guard says the public may notice military presence and increased emergency personnel during the exercise.
The National Guard says the training exercise is to prepare for a possible attack on the state's infrastructure.
“Our emergency management community must be prepared to deal with the myriad scenarios and challenges posed by a long-term mass power outage, and by training together, we continue building meaningful relationships that leave us better positioned to respond to a real-world situation," says Maj. Gen. Don Dunbar, Wisconsin’s adjutant general.

Comcast customers across the United States were slowly coming back online late Friday afternoon after a massive outage left them without internet, cable TV, and telephone service. [Again...]
http://money.cnn.com/2018/06/29/technology/comcast-outage/index.html
The outage started Friday morning and quickly spread to several cities, including New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, San Francisco, Denver and Chicago, according to Downdetector.com, a site that monitors service outages. Complaints peaked early in the day, but Comcast (CCZ) service problems continued popping up well into the afternoon. In some cases the outage last most of the afternoon, but Comcast said in a tweet Friday evening that it had started restoring service.
The company was trying to determine just what went wrong, but said in a statement that "one of Comcast's large backbone network partners had a fiber cut that we believe is also impacting other providers."
The company could not say how many people were affected by outage, which it called "nationwide."
Fiber optic cables are used for long distance high-speed data transmission.
Customers took to their cellphones and mobile devices to complain vociferously on Twitter. Some reported difficulty getting through to Comcast customer service. The company took to Twitter to provide updates and urged customers not to call 911.

Deadly Substation Fire becomes top priority wildfire in U.S.; cause under investigation
http://www.kptv.com/story/38688536/deadly-substation-fire-becomes-t...
(KPTV) - The deadly Substation Fire that started near The Dalles has become the top priority wildfire in the U.S., according to fire officials.
Officials said Thursday afternoon that 217 firefighters from 73 agencies across the state were working to control the 50,000-acre wildfire.
Additional resources, including 60 more people to help on all aspects of the firefighting operation, were headed to the scene Thursday after the fire was designated the country’s top priority wildfire.
Officials said there was also a significant air attack being utilized on the fire, including multiple tankers dropping water and retardant.
Firefighters said 35-40 mph winds created challenging conditions for firefighters Thursday, with the fire seeing significant growth at its south end, as well as growth to the north.
The fire was first spotted Tuesday (July 17) near The Dalles and quickly got out of control. It spread 18 miles south its first night.
One person has died as a result of the fire. Investigators said 64-year-old John Ruby was creating a fire line with his tractor to protect neighboring property when he died from exposure to the fire.
The Ruby family released a statement Thursday thanking the community for their support, while also acknowledging that they were still “actively working to keep our friends and neighbors safe.” A donation fund was also established by the family.
Wasco County Sheriff Lane Magill said Thursday multiple agencies were working around the clock to determine the cause of the fire. He described it as an “ongoing criminal investigation,” but he said releasing any further details could compromise the investigation.
A tip line was created as part of the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-452-7888.
Officials said 900 homes were under Level 2 – “Be set” – and Level 3 – “Go now” – evacuation orders. The towns of Moro and Grass Valley were under Level 3 evacuations.
As of Thursday evening, Biggs Junction was reduced to a Level 2 evacuation.
Evacuation updates are being posted at facebook.com/SubstationFire2018. .."

Flames are seen coming from a transformer station fire near Finch Avenue and Signet Drive early Saturday morning (July 28) . (Peter Muscat)
Thousands of people are without power after an overnight transformer station fire in North York.
The blaze broke out at a Hydro One facility near Finch Avenue and Signet Drive at around 12:15 a.m.
Toronto Fire says that by the time crews arrived on scene the structure was fully engulfed in flames.
Toronto Fire says that the facility was also a significant distance from hydrants, which further complicated matters.
They say that at one point crews ran out of hose and had to find a workaround to get water on the fire.
During the height of the fire, police closed down Highway 400 from highways 407 to 401 as well as Finch Avenue from Weston Road to Highway 400 and Signet Drive from Finch Avenue to High Meadow Place. Highway 400 and Finch Avenue have since reopened, however.
Public works crews with a vacuum truck were also called in to assist with the cleanup after the transformer began to release oil.."

Fire at TECO substation causing power outages in Riverview, Gibsonton
http://www.baynews9.com/fl/tampa/news/2018/07/27/fire-teco-substati...
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews fought a fire at a TECO substation Friday (July 27) evening that left thousands of area residents without power.
A transformer explosion at the East Bay Substation — located at 7350 Big Bend Road — around 5:30 p.m. caused the fire and the subsequent outages, according to Fire Rescue officials.
The explosion ignited the mineral oil normally used to cool the transformers. The best means of fighting the fire, according to fire officials, was to keep it contained and simply wait for it to burn itself out.
"The first thing is, you can't use water with it," said Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Clifford Bassett. "The second thing is you can’t see electricity — you don’t know where it is, where it isn’t."
"In this situation, we want to make sure that there’s not been any damage to the wires that may be out of position from where they normally are before we send our guys in there," Bassett said.
The fire at one point reportedly left over 4,000 customers without power. The outages were concentrated in the Riverview and Gibsonton areas of the county..."

A major fire in the Paris suburbs paralysed traffic in and out of the city's Montparnasse train station on Friday (Jul 27), just as thousands of French and foreign travellers head on their holidays this weekend.

http://www.vir.com.vn/fire-blocks-major-paris-station-at-height-of-...
The fire at an electrical centre run by the national transport network in Issy-les-Moulineaux, southwest of Paris, sent a massive plume of smoke rising into the skies.
The blaze, just next door to Microsoft's main French offices, prompted an evacuation of 2,500 people and caused a power cut to some 16,000 homes in the Paris suburbs, authorities said.
The fire shut down traffic just before noon at Montparnasse, the main station connecting Paris to west and southwest France, with rail operator SNCF warning of heavy disruption for the rest of the day.
"Those who can delay their journeys need to delay them," Alain Krakovitch, a senior official at rail operator SNCF, told reporters.
The station in southern Paris, which in the midst of a heatwave is sweltering in temperatures of 36 degree Celsius, was crowded with stranded passengers staring up at the departure boards.
"It's infuriating, it's not clear at all what's happening," said Eva Basin, a 42-year-old Parisian who was supposed to be heading off on vacation to Brittany.
"They've advised me to delay my ticket, but I only have a week of holidays," she said. "All the trains for tomorrow are full. I'm going to try to take a bus."
Some trains were back up and running by Friday afternoon, albeit with a three-hour delay, while others were re-routed.
SNCF official Patrick Jeantet said a transformer had caught fire at the electrical centre, which controls Montparnasse's safety installations. The cause of the fire was as yet unknown..."

Southwest flight carrying 135 people makes emergency landing at BWI Marshall Airport
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bs-md-bwi-southwest-emerg...
A plane carrying 130 passengers and five crew members made an emergency landing at BWI Marshall Airport on Tuesday night (July 31) after a problem with the wing flaps.
Southwest Airlines Flight 1805 from Aruba touched down at about 8:50 p.m., flanked by firetrucks, officials and a passenger said. No injuries were reported.
Neysa Condron was returning from a vacation with her two daughters when she and other passengers realized the plane had been flying in a figure-eight-like pattern for about 20 minutes shortly before their scheduled landing time of 8.
“The pilot came on and told us that there was a problem,” Condron said in a telephone interview from baggage claim. “He said, ‘Our wings’ landing flaps are not coming out. We’re in contact with [officials on] the ground — we’re trying to figure out what to do.’ ”
About 40 minutes later, the pilot calmly told passengers that it would be “a fast landing” because the flaps would not be able to slow the plane, Condron said. The pilot also said the planes’ tires might blow from the heat, she said.
Before landing, the plane flew in circles near the airport to burn fuel, which Southwest spokesman Chris Mainz said in an email is “standard procedure.”
Mainz said the captain declared the emergency landing “out of an abundance of caution” because of “an issue with the flaps.”

Toledo Fire and Rescue Department responded late Tuesday to a downtown underground electric vault fire, according to spokesman Pvt. Sterling Rahe.
Crews were called to the scene at approximately 10:45 p.m. Tuesday (July 31) to the fire, where several transformers are located underground, Private Rahe said.
When crews arrived, fire was shooting through a large grate off North Erie Street and rolling up the facade of a nearby building — causing scorch markings, according to the spokesman. The fire was contained to the vault area and it did not extend to the building.
Crews remained on scene well into the morning Wednesday to monitor the incident and assist Toledo Edison workers as needed.."

Transformer fire creates havoc on southwest side
http://www.heraldbulletin.com/news/local_news/transformer-fire-crea...
Anderson, Indiana – Much of the city’s southwest side was without power Thursday (Aug 2) after a high-voltage transformer caught fire around 9:30 a.m.
An equipment failure of the Anderson Municipal Power & Light distribution system caused a large transformer box on the corner of Enterprise Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to malfunction, bringing down the electrical grid for nearly 450 customers including several businesses at the Flagship Enterprise Center.
Power & Light Director Tony Pochard said he was unsure of the direct cause, but the incident was being investigated.
A temporary solution was able to restore power to some of the businesses; however, a more permanent fix will was expected to be in place within 24 to 48 hours, Pochard said.
“All available crews with Anderson Light & Power are working to resolve the problem,” Pochard said in a press release.
Some businesses were currently operating off auxiliary generator power as well.

For second time in a week, short but widespread West Seattle power outage: 16,000+ customers affected
(Aug 6)
8:30 AM: Thanks for the texts. Ours is out too. We’re getting reports from a widespread area – as far north as Admiral. More to come.
8:38 AM: City Light map says more than 16,000 homes/businesses are out. Remember that intersections are four-way stops when the signals are out.
8:46 AM: City Light says via Twitter that they “believe the outage was caused by a switching problem and estimate power will be restored about 9:15 a.m.”
8:50 AM: It’s been six days since a similarly widespread outage (WSB coverage here) was blamed on a “relay malfunction,” though that one lasted only a few minutes.
8:53 AM: Our power’s back (Fauntleroy/Gatewood line). Yours? We of course will be following up with SCL. Also note that – as happened after last Tuesday’s even-shorter outage – there may be some lingering effects like flashing traffic signals.
9:26 AM: Just talked with Scott Thomsen at City Light, who is looking into questions such as whether this was human error, a mechanical problem, etc. He says the “routine maintenance” at the Delridge Substation continues so that’s one thing this did have in common with last Tuesday’s outage. We will update again later when we get more followup information.
2:23 PM: SCL’s Thomsen says via e-mail: “Crews were testing switchgear at the Delridge Substation as a part of our maintenance and reliability work. When one of the workers closed the doors for the switchgear they were testing, the vibrations tripped a relay, which then opened, cutting off power for the electrical bus (imagine a giant power strip connected to four feeder lines going out of the substation into the neighborhoods). Our engineering staff is looking at what we can do to dampen vibrations and avoid a repeat of this problem, which does occasionally affect utilities.”

System meltdown halts all flights at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport 8-15-2018 All in and outbound flights have been suspended at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport due to a technical issue with air traffic control systems at the transport hub.
The problem began shortly after 1pm local time, the ANP news agency is reporting.
The European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) said the problems at the airport are due to a “communications failure” in lower airspace.
Dutch Air Traffic Control said it was caused by technical problems between pilots and air traffic controllers. It added that all flights in Dutch airspace landed safely due to a backup communications system and arriving flights are not being admitted to Dutch airspace at this time.
Schiphol Airport authorities have since issued a statement that “slowly departing air traffic is starting up again,” indicating that there could be delays.
Earlier the official airport Twitter page warned passengers of a complete shutdown due to a undefined traffic control problem.
“Air traffic control is investigating this matter,” the airport stated.

"..And late Tuesday morning, fire crews and Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. officials responded to the scene when smoke again began pouring from two of the manhole covers.
Seeing the smoke Monday evening, Katherine Kozakevych, a Baltimore resident from Ukraine, left her building, taking her passport and laptop with her. She and her friends were sitting outside when fire officials arrived.

4 Manholes Explode Following Underground Fire In Downtown Baltimore
https://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2018/09/24/underground-fire-downtown...
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Charles Street reopened in downtown Baltimore Tuesday night, one day after an underground electrical fire caused major problems.
The fire caused four manhole covers to fly into the air and injured a paramedic. It’s the third underground fire on Charles Street this year.
“Our number one priority is to make sure people are safe,” said fire department spokeswoman Blair Skinner.
Skinner said the paramedic suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Two fire trucks were also damaged and a building was evacuated out of precaution there could be high carbon monoxide levels.
“I just heard a big boom. It seemed like the world was exploding,” said Tammy Campbell.
She told WJZ Investigator Mike Hellgren the windows of her hotel room rattled.
“All you saw was smoke and fire trucks,” Kenny Campbell told WJZ.
Hellgren reported the fire flared up again around noon on Tuesday, as acrid yellow smoke rose from a manhole at Lexington and Charles.
The fire department insisted it was not dangerous.
“We got an email saying there was no danger. I don’t know how they determined that,” said Kathleen Carroll, who works downtown. “It makes you wonder what is going on underneath all of us.”
The previous fires were four blocks away near Lombard and Charles in both February and June.
BGE said in Monday’s (Sept 24) incident, an underground electrical cable caught fire. It may have been caused by damage from steam. It will be up to the city to determine the final cause. “It remains under investigation,” Skinner said.
Baltimore has a 15-mile system of steam pipes downtown that provide hot steam to various buildings.
Last year, a pipe exploded not far from Camden Yards sending steam gushing into the air and damaging more than 30 cars.
That steam pipe was wrapped in cancer-causing asbestos.

Passengers report pilots wearing masks after strong smell in cockpit forces emergency landing
https://kplr11.com/2018/10/01/flight-to-st-louis-diverted-after-rep...
POSTED 7:03 PM, OCTOBER 1, 2018
ST. LOUIS, MO - A flight coming from Detroit to St. Louis was diverted to Indianapolis Monday afternoon around 4:30 pm CT (Oct 1). The pilot of the Airbus 319 reported a strong odor in the cockpit.
Delta flight 2848 was carrying 116 passengers and landed safely in Indianapolis. Delta issued this statement after an inquiry by FOX 2: “Maintenance personnel are evaluating the aircraft. While safety is always our top priority, Delta apologizes to customers for this travel delay.”
The flight then headed to St. Louis Monday evening and landed around 8:37 pm.
Some passengers told FOX 2 that emergency crews were seen from the air, waiting on the ground to assist. Other passengers said that no one in the cabin noticed the smell.
“We found out that the pilots had actually had their oxygen masks on which was interesting because no one in the cabin did,” said Scotty Shaw, “but we were there for a while.”
“I wasn’t really panicked but I was concerned,” said Ronald Charles, “because they really kept us abreast of the situation.”
Airline officials have not released any information on what may have caused the odor.

Several power outages affected thousands of residents in recent months
https://mv-voice.com/news/2018/10/03/power-outage-caused-by-mylar-b...
Thousands of residents in Mountain View have been on the receiving end of three power outages since late August. Metallic balloons are the culprit in the latest outage, which occurred in the Shoreline West region on Sunday morning.
PG&E officials say the outage, reported around 7:50 a.m. on Sept. 30, occurred after metallic balloons came in contact with power lines near the intersection of Chiquita Avenue and Mercy Street, causing power to go out for 4,400 customers. Crews removed the balloons and had to replace damaged power lines and a blown transformer, PG&E spokeswoman Mayra Tostado told the Voice.
The repair work took nearly five hours to complete, and power was fully restored around 12:35 p.m.
Metallic balloons, also known as Mylar balloons, can cause a surge of electricity that short-circuits equipment, Tostado said, which can lead to outages, fires and injuries. The balloons were to blame for 456 power outages in California across PG&E's service area in Northern and Central California in 2017, affecting a total of 371,000 homes and businesses..."

New Delhi: Two GoAir A320neo flights made an emergency landing after engine failure and smoke warning in cargo area was reported. Flight number G8033 which was travelling from Delhi to Male turned midair and returned to Delhi airport after engine failure was reported. Flight Number 285 travelling from Goa to Delhi was forced to land at Goa airport after fire was reported from the cargo area.
Low budget carrier GoAir, owned by Indian business conglomerate Wadia Group, had recently commenced its second international operation with non-stop air services to Male, the capital city of Maldives from Mumbai and Delhi.
Airbus A320neo aircraft has been facing engine trouble from quite some time. Recently, low-budget operator IndiGo was forced to ground 9 A320neo aircraft due to non-availability of spare engines from Pratt & Whitney.
In September, GoAir flight from Bengaluru to Pune was forced to return as the Airbus A320 Neo plane developed a technical snag. According to media reports, the engine failed mid-air and the flight returned with full emergency measures at the Bengaluru airport.
IndiGo and GoAir have been suffering from P&W engine problems for many months and even DGCA has admitted it. In August, aviation regulator DGCA disclosed that IndiGo and GoAir had grounded nine A320 neo planes due to P&W engine issues.
The plane powered by P&W engines has been grappling with mid-air engine shutdowns and oil chip detection

US stealth bomber makes emergency landing after engine, electrical failures
A US Air Force B-2 stealth bomber safely landed at Colorado Springs Airport Tuesday morning after suffering an in-flight emergency, a spokesperson with the 21st Space Wing at Peterson Air Force Base confirmed to CNN.
The $1.2 billion aircraft was en route to Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. Two pilots were on board and both aviators were unharmed, and the exact cause of the in-flight emergency is under investigation, according to the Air Force.
“The aircraft experienced an in-flight emergency. Our pilots are trained to handle such emergencies and safely landed the aircraft. A Maintenance Recovery Team will assess the aircraft and determine the cause,” Air Force spokesperson Lt. Allen Palmer said in a statement Wednesday.
A US military official told CNN on Wednesday that the aircraft was diverted after experiencing a number four engine failure, followed by complete electrical failure.
Shortly after the pilots were able to restore the electrical system, they began experiencing pressurization issues, the official said.
“Our aviators are extremely skilled; they’re trained to handle a wide variety of in-flight emergencies in one of the world’s most advanced aircraft and they perfectly demonstrated that today,” said Brig. Gen. John J. Nichols, 509th Bomb Wing Commander.
