"Of course all volcanoes will explode, as this is going to be a very severe pole shift. What about the months and years preceding the pole shift? It is no secret that Mammoth Lake and the caldera of Yellowstone are warming up, and the populace has been prepared for these occurrences by the movie Volcano where there, in the middle of LA, lava is bubbling up. In fact, there is a fault line running from the approximate San Diego/LA area, up into the Sierras, and this is liable to rupture rather violently during one of the quakes that precedes the pole shift by some months. Volcanic eruptions from that area in the Sierras can be expected. Will Mount St. Helen erupt? All volcanoes that have been active within the memory of man will begin spewing and burping and oozing, and many that were not expected to become active will reactive. "   ZetaTalk - Feb 15, 2000

Usa, Cleveland Volcano in Alaska Shows Signs of Eruption :

Mount Cleveland, also called the Cleveland Volcano, in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, has been reportedly oozing lava, presaging a possible eruption. Satellite images showed a 165 meter (541 feet) in diameter lava dome in the summit crater on Sept. 20, which increased from 150 meters (490 feet) as of Sept. 9, according to the Alaska Volcano Observatory. As of Thursday, it could not be verified if the eruption of lava was continuing because clouds blocked satellite views, but a rising lava dome in the crater increases the possibility of an explosive eruption, AVO said. Though the growing lava dome remains entirely contained within the summit crater, it is now approximately 20 meters below the eastern rim. “If lava dome growth continues, lava may overflow the crater rim to produce a lava flow. Sudden collapse of the effusing lava could result in the generation of a volcanic ash cloud.” AVO, which has issued a “watch” alert for Mount Cleveland, said there was no necessary indication that the volcano will erupt, but volcanic events can occur without warning and may go undetected in satellite imagery for hours.

Eruption on Nabro volcano continues / Evidence of ongoing activity (satellite pictures)

Nabro is an Eritrean volcano with NO historic eruption record. Satellite imagery suggests that the eruption of Nabro Volcano, which began in June 2011, continues. The volcano is located on the edge of the Danakil Desert, a remote and sparsely populated area on the border between Eritrea and Ethiopia, and few eyewitness accounts of the eruption are available. Orbiting instruments such as the Advanced Land Imager (ALI) aboard Earth Observing-1 (EO-1), which acquired these images, may be the
only reliable way to monitor Nabro.

The images show the volcano in false-color (first) and natural-color (lower second) on September 28,
2011. Heat from vents in Nabro’s central crater is visible as a red glow in the false-color image. Another hotspot about 1,300 meters (4,600 feet) south of the vents reveals an active lava flow. A pale halo
surrounding the vents indicates the presence of a tenuous volcanic plume. South of Nabro’s crater, the dark, nearly black areas are coated with ash so thick it completely covers the sparse vegetation. On either side of this region is a thinner layer of ash with some bright green vegetation (exaggerated in false-color) poking through. In the natural-color image, the arid landscape is light brown where it is not
covered by ash. The ash is black, while a fresh lava flow, spewed out in the last two weeks of June, is dark brown. More fresh lava flows surround the active vents. On either side of Nabro’s caldera, ephemeral
streams have washed away the ash, leaving light-colored channels behind—a first sign of the erosion that will reshape, and eventually remove, what the eruption built.

Costa Rica's Rincon de la Vieja Volcano Awakens

Dormant for more than a decade, the Rincon de la Vieja volcano surprised area residents and tourists with its a phreatic eruption last August 19 and then again on September 16 and 22.

The volcano is located in the northern sector of the country Buenos Aires de Aguas Clara de Upala, in the province of Alajuela.

Experts from the Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica OVSICORI) toured the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano to inspect activity.

The ascent to the crater took over three hours until it was confirmed what the neighbors reported, investigators finding that on Saturday, September 17, a day after the eruption of water and sediment, some fish were found dead in the river Penjamo.

Investigators this week found more evidence of material spewed by the colossus in the streams and ditches in the area.

The neighbuors report indicated that some sediment have made up t 18 kilometres upstream in the local rivers.

Also being investigated is whether the walls of the volcano have some movement.

Most phreatic eruptions are concentrated in the centre of the lagoon that borders the walls that are 75 metres high.

The eruption of November 1995 was one of the most intense. And although the current eruptions are nothing compared, area residents are taking precautions.

After a meeting with experts hey took the decision to revive the local emergency committee. For now, tourist visits to the crater have been suspended and guides are required to visit other parts of the national park.

Authorities recommend people living in the foothills of the Rincon de la Vieja be aware of the water level in the rivers.

Sep 30, 2011 (The Tico Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
It's been a busy month for Rincon de la Vieja Volcano in the northwestern province of Guanacaste. The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (Ovsicori) reports that since Sept. 9 the volcano has erupted twice and caused substantial fish kills in nearby rivers.

Residents of nearby Buenos Aires de Upala reported a minor eruption of the volcano on Sept. 16 that spit ash and other materials into the air. That eruption also released a mass of hot, gray liquid that poured out of the crater along with smoke and vapors. On Sept. 17, dead fish floated in the waters of the nearby Penjamo River, which ran milky with volcanic sediment, according to Ovsicori reports.

A second, similar eruption occurred Sept. 22. The daily La Nacion reported that this eruption caused the Environment, Energy and Telecommunications Ministry (MINAET) to restrict access to the volcano's crater.

Indonesia: Anak Krakatau Raised To Highest Alert Status- Quakes Are Now Continuous, Warn Officials

    Anak Krakatau
    October 2, 2011

Indonesian officials have raised the status of one of its most dangerous volcanoes, Anak Krakatau, to a "standby" or level IV- the highest level.

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), Surono said this is a rise in status that was set on Friday, September 30, 2011 evening at 24.00. The reason for the elevated status is because of the high-intensity level of earthquakes.

Today, for example. "On October 2, 2011, at 00.00 until 12.00, there are 2745 recorded seismic events," said Surono, when he was contacted by VIVAnews.com, Sunday, October 2, 2011. Earthquakes under Mount Anak Krakatau, Surono added, were even felt all along the island of Anak Krakatau.

"The swarm of tremors are continuous and although small, 2 on the Richter scale, they are cause for concern because they are felt constantly," he added. He explained, almost since 2007, Krakatau has been stirred by unrest. "In a moment, it stopped, and erupted in 2009. I think this mountain is always in danger of erupting," he added. - Viva News (translated)

Tourists, fishers Warned to Stay Clear of Anak Krakatau Volcano

Authorities are warning tourists and fishermen to stay more than a mile (two kilometers) from a smoking Indonesian volcano known as 'Child of Krakatoa.'

The volcano in the Sunda Strait, 80 miles (130 kilometers) west of the capital, Jakarta, was created by the same tectonic forces that led to the 1883 Krakatoa eruption that killed tens of thousands of people.

Its "child," growing five yards (meters) a year, is now 1,320 feet (400 meters) tall and popular among hikers.

Gede Suantika of the Center for Volcanology says the mountain's alert level was raised to the second-highest level last week after the number of volcanic tremors soared from 200 a day to 7,200.

Suantika said Tuesday that he worries a powerful burst could shoot incandescent rocks down its slopes and far into the ocean.

New Zealand, alert level at Ruapehu remains at 1, despite the temperature of the crater lake rising towards conditions typical for an eruption.

GNS Science says the volcanic alert level at Ruapehu remains at 1, despite the temperature of the crater lake rising towards conditions typical for an eruption. Skiers on the Whakapapa ski field in the central North Island have reported smelling hydrogen sulphide gas in recent weeks. Volcanologist Brad Scott says this is because the temperature of the crater lake is cooler, which tends to produce more gas. The latest Volcanic Alert Bulletin says the lake's temperature on 29 September was 17.6 degrees Celsius. In March, the temperature peaked at 41 degrees Celsius. Mr Scott says the lake is heading towards a temperature where volcanic activity typically occurs, but doesn't always. Ruapehu is an active volcano and future eruptions may occur with little or no warning. The eruption detection system on the mountain functioned well during a test last week, he says.

Iceland, Intense swarm of earthquakes in Katla volcano

Measuring devices this morning have picked up a large earthquake swarm, usually a tell-tale sign of a potential volcanic eruption.

In the early hours of today, 05 October 2011, an intense swarm of earthquakes was registered in the Katla caldera; the largest of these earthquake had a local magnitude of ~3.7. Most of the ongoing seismicity is sourced at shallow (< 5 km) depths.

Evidence gathered by geophysicists showed the magma had risen to the height of the glacier ice above the volcano causing it to melt.

They said the high seismic tremors recorded on July 8 and 9 confirmed Katla had become active and started small eruptions.

Today's intense swarm of earthquakes started at midnight and dozens of tremors have been recorded - the strongest with a magnitude of 4 at around 3am.

Indonesia, Warning status for Anak Krakatau

The drastic increase in volcanic earthquake activities at Anak Krakatau has forced authorities to warn of a possible eruption.

All quarters have been asked not to approach within a two-kilometre radius of the volcano, located in the Sunda Strait. Normal activities are still allowed outside the radius.

Anak Krakatau is 40km from the coast of Lampong, Sumatera, and the coast of Anyer-Carita coast, Jawa.

Local media quoted Head of Volcanology and Geology Disaster Mitigation Centre, Surono, yesterday that the seismograph recorded between 6,000 and 7,000 volcanic earthquakes a day.

Prior to this, the seismograph only recorded between 100 and 300 volcanic events a day, said Surono to Indopos, as quoted by news portal Jawa Post National Network.

Antara news agency quoted Andi Arief, Special Presidential Staff Disaster Areas Social Disaster Assistant, that, in theory, anything more than 1,000 earthquake activities could cause Anak Krakatau to erupt.

He said the type of eruption has yet to be ascertained because developments are still at the intensive monitoring level.

Since Anak Krakatau appeared on the surface of the sea on June 11, 1927, the volcano has erupted more than 100 times, with a dormant period of between one to six years.

The explosive eruption of Anak Krakatau last July 10 hurled hot ash into the sky to a radius of 700 to 1,000 metres from the centre of the eruption, causing damage to seismic equipment placed at the volcano.

The explosive eruptions which took place in the last four years were the magmatic type, throwing volcanic material and dust for 1,000 to 1,500 metres around Anak Krakatau.

How wide the volcanic dust was spread, however, depended on the strength and direction of the wind.

Canary islands, El Hierro volcano - Nearly 9,000 seismic movements on the island since July 17 + rising ball of lava

Intense swarms of tremors beneath one of the volcanic Canary Islands has placed residents of El Hierro on alert for a possible eruption.

Spain’s Instituto Geografico Nacional (IGN) reported the nearly 9,000 seismic movements on the island since July 17 have caused measurable changes in the terrain.

El Hierro’s only eruption during recorded history was in 1793, when the Volcano de Lomo Negro vent rumbled for a month and produced lava flows.

Seismologists say they don’t know if the rising ball of lava causing the latest rumblings will break through the surface, but they have issued a “yellow” alert as a precaution.

IGN Director Maria Jose Blanco told reporters that any eruption would most likely have a “low explosive value.”

Tremors about 50,000 years ago produced an enormous landslide that cascaded into the ocean, creating a large tsunami that probably reached the North American coast.

Hawaii, Kilauea volcano - Lava flow resumes to southeast and northeast

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory has released new pictures of the eruption on Puu Oo crater.

An overflight of the flow on Friday showed lava advancing about 1.6 miles to the southeast from the fissure and .3 miles to the northeast from another flow, scientists said.

The observatory also released a thermal image of the lava flow showing active flows near the fissure spreading out. The image shows a pahoehoe flow (smooth, swirling lava) moving southeast and the small flow to the northeast. An aa (rough, broken lava) field is seen below the active flows.

The volcano is going through a series of what scientists call deflation/inflation events as the volcano apparently fills with magma, which is then released. The deflation/inflation often coincides with lava pulses and pauses in the eruption.

Within Puu Oo crater, scientists said lava has filled a pond on the east side of the crater and a glow could be seen on the west.

Usa, Cleveland volcano - If the lava dome continues to grow in the summit crater, the possibility of an explosive event increases

...If the lava dome continues to grow in the summit crater, the possibility of an explosive event increases. With continued lava dome growth, lava may eventually overflow the crater rim to produce a lava flow and/or collapse to produce pyroclastic flows. Sudden collapse of the effusing lava could result in the generation of a volcanic ash cloud. However, lava may continue to erupt without an explosive event. It is possible that explosions from the summit crater vent could produce ash clouds that may exceed 20,000 ft above sea level. These events can occur without warning and may go undetected in satellite imagery for hours. However, lightning associated with significant ash-producing events may be detected within minutes using an automated alarm system. ...

Canary Islands, El Hierro volcano - Spanish Town Evacuated Because of Volcano Threat

Officials say they are evacuating some 600 residents from a small coastal town on the Spanish Canary island of Hierro because of volcanic activity in the area.

Tuesday's decision by the regional government to evacuate La Restinga town came after the National Geographic Institute confirmed there was an undersea eruption some 3 miles off the coast Monday and that another eruption closer to Hierro island is possible.

No damage was caused by Monday's eruption.

Hierro, with 11,000 residents, has been on alert level 2 in a scale of 4 in recent weeks for fear of an eruption, but officials insist an eruption is not likely to be major.

The Canary Islands lie off the coast of northwest African and were formed by volcanic activity. Hierro has some 500 volcanoes.

Canary Islands, El Hierro volcano - latest updates

Update 12/10 – 10:56 UTC :  The authorities are making a list of boat owners (fisherman and tourists) who have their boats still anchored in the La Restinga port.  Emergency people and scientists are examining a perfect time frame to allow the fishermen to move their boats to La Estaca, the northern port of El Hierro. A time has not been set yet. A boatman talking to Joke Volta told that he was not eager to do it, as the sea is very turbulent today. Not everybody wants to be enlisted as they have to navigate themselves and are in fear of a possible unexpected volcano danger.

Update 12/10 – 10:47 UTC :  The authorities are allowing people from La Restinga who were not able to take their belongings with them yesterday or forgot vital things, to go to their houses accompanied by police. They are currently coming together on a certain location until PEVOLCA gives the green light.

Update 12/10 – 10:08 UTC :  78 evacuated people have spend the night in the Valverde school at the northern side of El Hierro. Since the red alert was called in La Restinga, 11 new low magnitude quakes have been recorded (max. 2.7).

Canary Islands, El Hierro volcano - La Restinga , A Ghost town as the only people left behind are the Scientists

El Hierro, La Restinga looked like something out of the end of the world last night after the evacuation took place of the town, which was on the order of the government of Gran Canaria, the only people left behind were the scientists who worked throughout the night.

On the way from the center of the island to the town, very few cars passed and the sense of desolation was felt after a day of intense bustle of people leaving the area, with occasional attack of the nerves among some, which was controlled by the Security and emergency services.

The entrance Road to the coastal town of El Pinar was later blocked by the Guardia Civil only allowing entrance to people in case of an emergency for example someone who may of left medication behind in their house forgotten by the rush of the eviction.

An uneasy calm followed, however many asked how long before they could return to their homes as more than 600 were evacuated.

Researchers from the National Geographic Institute have a tough task ahead, the increase in tremors announces that the magma is moving as the seismographs show an indication it is approaching the coast. Scientists warn that this change in trend confirms that another opening has formed of the volcano but this time closer to the mainland.

The silence and dark roads of the island painted a picture of calm, tense, waiting for a geological event that the inhabitants of El Hierro have had to get used to.

Scientists are continuing to keep a close eye on the situation and the authorities have taken the necessary measures and protocols required in these situations.

EL HIERRO records another focus of eruption under the sea that creates stains and odor of sulfur
    Wednesday October 12, 2011
The points where the lava outcrops are 500 and 700 meters deep and a mile and a half from La Restinga
ACN Director of Security and Emergency of the Canary Islands, Juan Manuel Santana, just reported a news conference at City Hall of El Hierro, a team of scientists from the National Geographic Institute have traveled the coast of La Restinga this afternoon to collect water samples, and discovered the existence of two magma spots two and one mile southwest of La Restinga, with a strong smell of sulfur.

These spots confirm the existence of a volcanic eruption is taking on the seabed southwest of La Restinga, with two openings located at 750 and 500 meters deep, which is releasing magma. Along with these stains have been found dead fish stocks.
Santana has confirmed that the two spots have been located within the security perimeter that four nautical miles from Punta Restinga, so this is not going to change. As for the possibility that those evicted from their homes can return depends on the analysis of data technicians do in the coming hours. Currently the Executive canary can not confirm that they can do so in the coming hours
The Director of Security and Emergency of the Canary Islands called "good" this news, because "if there must be an eruption soon." At present, nor confirm whether this second mouth discovered this afternoon that corresponds to the eruption could be expected on the ground, "we will have to wait for the scientific analysis of the data just collected," he said.

Santana has not been able to offer an explanation for the change of intensity of volcanic tremor recorded this afternoon by the National Geographic Institute. So far there arises the evacuation of other areas of the island or modification of traffic lights volcanic risk. For now, La Restinga risk remains red and the rest of the island in yellow.

The magma is close to La Restinga EL HIERRO Thursday October 13, 2011
Scientists say El Hierro in the last hours the magma has walked in towards the coast and believe it is less than 500 meters deep
LAPROVINCIA.ES / EFE The magma is dangerously close to La Restinga. In the last hours, the magma has walked in the direction of La Restinga and scientists in the area say this means that the volcanic material is less than 500 meters deep. The south coast of the island dawn on Thursday with a huge green stain, scientists report in the area, has doubled in the last hours and continues to grow.
Residents of the municipality of El Pinar and other areas of the island of El Hierro have come this Thursday at the highlands of La Restinga to see the spots in the sea are leaving the two foci of the volcanic eruption that occurred on Monday the island
The nearest spot, according to experts located a half mile from the coast, has a darker area and a tail that fishermen estimate that more than two miles to the ocean horizon.
Several fishermen who have spoken have indicated Efe are ocean currents that are extending the original stain along.
One of them commented that "the monster's head," as so called probably the place where is situated one of the active nodes of the eruption, has grown since yesterday was seen by villagers, who alerted the authorities thereof.
The technicians of the National Geographic Institute confirmed yesterday, after attending a Maritime Rescue patrol the area, which stains with a strong sulfur smell could come from two sources recorded eruption assets on Monday.

Magma incandescent and explosion hazard impede access La Restinga EL HIERRO Saturday October 15, 2011

The Canary Islands government takes out of the zone the boat of the ICCM and prohibits helicopter flight
LAPROVINCIA.ES The Canary Islands government has ordered the immediate evacuation of the land and air and sea around La Restinga to signs of an eruption of incandescent magma about two kilometers away from the coastal village of El Hierro.

The authorities have banned all access by land to La Restinga and also demanded the immediate departure of the vessel area of the Canary Institute of Marine Science who was in the area to collect samples of volcanic spot. The order also implies the impossibility of flying over the area by helicopter, to the risk that the ongoing eruption can cause explosions, solvent sources informed laprovincia.es .

The alert level remains at La Restinga red level one, which keeps the volcanic crisis management in the hands of the Government of
    Canaries.
The urgent statement issued by the Canarian Government states:

The direction of PEVOLCA reports that, due to the onset of smoking at sea pyroclastic closes the access to the village of La Restinga until further notice.

It also ordered the ship back to port "Professor Ignacio Lozano" and have banned helicopter flights over the area
    affected.

In an hour or so, we could have a scientific assessment on the new stage.
