Several lanes at the intersection of Windhorst Road and Parsons Avenue in Brandon remained closed for the indefinite future as county workers tread carefully in determining what caused a section of the roadway to collapse July 19.
“We have to be really careful at that intersection because there are lots of utility lines in the area,” said Hillsborough County spokesman Patrick Murray. "We have a sewer line and a water line there and we have to make sure there are no other utilities, so we have to be careful drilling.”
At the scene, late afternoon July 22, barricades were seen at the intersection, with drilling under way.
Crew workers first believed a 16-inch sewage pipeline beneath the intersection might have caused the collapse of the 6-foot-square section of roadway on July 19, according to a county report.
But the sewer line was dug up and found to be intact. Now the county is testing the intersection for sinkholes — but carefully, as Murray noted.
Additional detours and lane closures are possible as crews dig up the line for inspection and any necessary repairs.
Motorists who must travel through the intersection are warned to expect delays.

Cave Collapse Prompts Precationary Search at More Mesa
Area down coast from Goleta Beach is popular with young partiers
By Tom Bolton, Noozhawk Executive Editor Published on 02.06.2016 6:45 p.m
Santa Barbara County firefighters spent several hours Saturday afternoon making a precautionary search after a cave collapse was discovered in the cliffs below More Mesa.
“The whole area just caved in unexpectedly,” said fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni.
One engine and an urban search-and-rescue team — a total of 10 firefighters — were dispatched at about 3:30 p.m. to the collapsed cave, which is below Austin Road, down the coast from Goleta Beach.
The area is popular with young people for late-night parties and bonfires, and some of the caves are capable of holding quite a few people.
“Right now there are no reports of anybody in there, but because they are so popular, we couldn’t just walkaway,” Zaniboni said at about 6:15 p.m.
Firefighters were using probes and cameras inserted into the cave to see of they could see or hear anything.
“We’ll probably search another 30 to 45 minutes and then knock off if we don’t find anything,” Zaniboni said. “Hopefully no one is reported missing.”
Authorities planned to rope off the area overnight to keep people out due to the ongoing danger.
“The word to get out there is it’s real dangerous right now with those bluffs caved in,” Zaniboni said.

Pelican building collapses into water at Lake Macquarie
AN elderly woman had to run for her life after a waterfront restaurant, offices and an apartment collapsed into Lake Macquarie this morning.
The 78-year-old was at home in the apartment at Pelican when the entire development started to give way.
Within moments, the front of the building had collapsed into the lake.
Among the businesses affected was Milano’s On The Lake - one of the region’s most popular waterfront wedding venues.
NSW Fire & Rescue Superintendent Brett Davies said it was extremely fortunate the collapse did not occur over the weekend, when the restaurant would have been packed with patrons.
“It could have caused severe injuries to people,” he said.

Arlesey road still closed after building collapse – telegraph pole stops wall falling into street
10:08 09 February 2016
A main road in Arlesey remains closed this morning after a building under construction collapsed yesterday afternoon.
A front-facing wall, part of a two-storey building under renovation in Hitchin Road, collapsed at about 3.20pm and was only prevented from falling into the road by scaffolding and a telegraph pole.
Firefighters and police attended the scene, isolated the area around the building and called for assistance from building surveyors from Central Bedfordshire Council and the Health and Safety Executive. There were no injuries reported.
Tim Forsythe, of Hitchin-based JR Scaffolding, was there at the time and said: “It would’ve been a lot worse without the scaffolding there – bricks could have fallen into the road and landed on someone.

The building collapsed in a small side street close to Istanbul's pedestrian Istiklal Avenue, a main shopping district, reducing much of it to rubble. Police sealed off the area.
Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin told reporters that "according to preliminary inspections there isn't anyone inside."
He added that people near the building realized that it was about to collapse due to the noise and warned people inside. "Our hope is that there wasn't anyone inside," said the governor.
Mayor Misbah Demircan said "people at the car park felt the shaking and they made people vacate the area," crediting them with preventing a disaster.
Earlier, private news agency Dogan had said people were believed to be trapped in the rubble.

Building collapse prompts evacuation
No one was injured when a wall collapsed in a pre-statehood building on North Main Street early Sunday.
A wall on the east side on the north end of the Royal Casket Co. building, 302. N. Main St., collapsed at about 3 a.m., said Muskogee Assistant Fire Chief Gordon Lee.
Muskogee residents and the building's owner were in the building at the time of the collapse.
"We're not sure who was living in it," Lee said. "We will evacuate it for now till it can be inspected."
The building, which is 116 years old, collapsed without warning. Muskogee residents, who declined to comment, spent much of Sunday moving possessions out of the building. The owner, Jeanette Hunter, declined to say whether people lived there.
Hunter, a real estate broker, said the cause of the collapse was likely a combination of weather and an earthquake.
"There was an earthquake a couple days ago," she said. "We figured there were some things a bit weak in the back of the building because we'd had a lot of rain, and there were a couple windows that blew out."
There was a 2.2 magnitude earthquake west of Enid at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday and a 5.1 magnitude earthquake on Feb. 13 in the same area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The building will have to be inspected before it can be reopened. Lee said it was evacuated as a matter of public safety. Hunter, who has owned the building since about 2007, said the city inspector could condemn the building.
"In my opinion, there's no reason to do that," Hunter said.
She said her plan is to repair the damage and renovate the building into storefronts and apartments. The roof on the rear of the building on the upper and lower levels collapsed along with a wall. However, Hunter said she was confident the building is still stable, as it has a large support wall through the center.

A part of Verizon building collapsed onto the street damaging 6 cars in Elmhurst
A huge outer portion of a Verizon building in Elmhurst collapsed onto the street below early Thursday morning after a long night of torrential rain and windstorms.
No one was hurt when the piece fell off the structure at around 1 a.m, according to a Verizon spokesperson. Six cars were damaged when they were hit down below, according to reports.
The building is located on Broadway and Vietor Avenue. Vietor Avenue was still closed late Thursday morning as the debris was being cleared.
According to an eyewitness on the scene, the building looked as if water and wind damage from last night’s storm weakened the side of the building, causing the exterior wall of the building to slide off in thin chunks.
The Verizon spokesperson said that both the building and the information network were fully operational by Thursday morning and the company is investigating the cause of the collapse.
“We’re assessing the situation,” the spokesperson said.

Sources said that during the 72-hours megablock last weekend, rocks were being cut near the station and those vibrations could have weakened the walls of the structure. A case was registered at Sewri police station. Doctors at JJ hospital said the two people were brought dead to the hospital.
Dr Tatyarao Lahane, dean, JJ Hospital told mid-day, “Both the individuals, a man and a woman were brought to the hospital after the incident.

Man Rescued From Rubble After Building Collapses In Grays Ferry
February 27, 2016 8:14 AM
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Bricks and shards of wood line the sidewalks of Patton and Reed Streets, where a two-story row home was reduced to rubble Saturday morning in Grays Ferry.
The loud banging of bricks crumbling to the ground rocked this quiet section of the neighborhood around 8 a.m. in the 1400 block of Patton Street, and Gregory Cooper watched it happen from his bedroom window across the street.
“It’s just amazing,” he said. “You see the house fall, big cloud of dust, and it just happened so fast. It was just like, if you blinked you would have missed it.”
He immediately went to see if anyone needed help.
“I ran out to see if anyone was inside the building, cause that’s your first instinct,” he said. “I ran to the front of the building and I asked if anyone was in there. I heard a voice, in the back of the house, hollering for help.”
When he went around back, he said a man was trapped in the remains of the house.
He was much, probably stuck in the back bedroom. And that’s probably what saved his life, because he was at the top of the rubble.”
A strong smell of gas-filled the air though, so Gregory called 9-1-1, and waited for fire crews to arrive. He watched as they brought out a man covered in dust.
The 39-year-old man was taken to the Presbyterian Hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
Cooper says seeing it happen reminded him of the deadly Salvation Army Collapse on Market Street.
“Because of all the lives that were lost over there, my first instinct was to make sure somebody was there to get him help if he needed help to get out, or to call for help.”
No one else was believed to be inside the home.
There’s no word on what caused the collapse.
Patton Street was closed as a result. Drivers were being urged to avoid the area, if possible.

Building collapses in Den Bosch center; Injuries unknown
Posted on Feb 28, 2016
Update, 12:23 a.m., 28 February 2016: A spokesman for the regional safety office does not believe there are any injuries, but is offering no guarantees, Omroep Brabant reported. Specially-trained dogs are at the location to help search efforts.
A building under renovation in Den Bosch collapsed late Saturday night, leaving a gaping hole in the city’s main square. The collapse happened after 11 p.m., and rescue workers were still uncertain if anyone was buried in the rubble as midnight approached.
Cafe patrons sitting nearby said the incident was surreal. It was just “as a house of cards would collapse,” one person told the Volkskrant. Others said it seemed like the building crumbled in slow motion.
A trauma helicopter was immediately dispatched to the scene, along with at least six fire trucks, two ambulances and multiple police at the location, freelance journalist Noël van Hooft wrote on Twitter. At the time of the collapse, workers were testing large, special lighting for a show on artist Hieronymus Bosch. The lights were be used to make the rubble more visible for rescue workers in the aftermath.
It happened at a corner building located on the Markt at Hinthamerstraat. Demolition work on the ground floor Pearle optician’s location began just after the store closed, and continued until about 10 p.m., residents told broadcaster NOS. There were several units above the store that were used as apartments up until the last few weeks, according to the Telegraaf. The apartments were already being converted to warehouse space, and were no longer lived in, one area resident told the paper.
A message on the Pearle website says the facility is closed due to the construction work due to take place there from Monday, February 29 through Friday, March 4. The shop normally closes on Saturdays at 5 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.
The Pearle was located next to Bosch’s birthplace, Van Hooft said. That building, known as “De Kleine Winst”, or The Little Winnings, was left unscathed, according to multiple reports from the scene.

Piece of building mural falls onto law office in downtown West Palm Beach, injuring 4
An apartment building's bricks tumbled off when its facade collapsed Thursday in West Palm Beach, causing four people to suffer minor injuries, officials said.
A portion of the mural façade of Alexander Lofts apartment building broke away about 11 a.m., sending bricks from the six-story complex down through the roof of a small law office building below.
Three of those injured worked at the Law Offices of William W. Price, at 320 Fern St., officials said. They were sent to Good Samaritan Medical Center. A fire official said she was unsure where the fourth person injured was when the accident happened.
The apartment complex at 326 Fern St. and the office were evacuated. They will be closed for at least three days, while city officials examine the apartment building. Nearby streets also will be closed, and nearby construction has stopped.
The 1926 building is covered with a brick façade that is tied to an interior wall by metal attachments, said Elliot Cohen, communications director for the city of West Palm Beach. A failure of those attachments caused a piece of the brick wall to fall.
"Those metal attachments have rusted away," Cohen said. "The wall separated because the attachments failed."
Diana Matty, assistant West Palm Beach fire chief, said that the scene is not safe and more bricks could fall.
"We're not allowing entry into the [apartment] building," she said. She added that the law office has significant damage to its roof, four rooms and a hallway.
"The roof is definitely going to have to be redone," she said during a news conference.
Officials say that 76 of the 85 apartment units are rented and those who are displaced can contact the Red Cross for short-term housing assistance.
"Many people along with their pets are displaced," said Robin Hicks Nunley, executive director of Palm Beach and Martin Counties American Red Cross. "We will meet with them and provide whatever comfort we can that addresses what they're experiencing right now."
According to documents, the building used to be the southern headquarters for Southern Bell. It was given a historic designation in 2008.
The building is owned by Ram Realty of Palm Beach Gardens. The former warehouse is now home to 85 units ranging from studios to two bedrooms, starting at $1,300.
Los Angeles artist Tristan Eaton painted his largest mural called "The Spirit of Communication" on the side of the Alexander Lofts building. The colorful piece covers 8,000 square-feet and is a tribute to Alexander Graham Bell.
Eaton said in an e-mail that "we will be fixing the mural once the wall is fixed and safe to continue work on."

GEORGE TOWN: A contractor of a factory in Bayan Lepas has been slapped with a stop-work order after three Bangladeshi workers were injured when the second floor of the six-storey building collapsed during construction.
In the 3pm incident yesterday, the second floor gave way and crashed onto the first floor where the trio were working.
State Fire Department deputy director Mohamed Shoki Hamzah said four fire engines with 14 personnel from Bayan Baru and Jalan Perak rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 3.15pm.
“Work will only resume after the investigation is completed. The Department of Safety and Health (DOSH) is satisfied with the safety procedures of the contractor,” he said during a press conference at the site yesterday.

Roadway Subsidence Epidemic in Thailand (Mar 7)
The incident happened on Leab Khlong 14 Road in tambon Bung Nam Rak of Thanyaburi district around noon.
The eight-metre-wide road subsided some two metres deep and about 80 metres long and the taxi was found trapped in the descended section.
Driver Boonlorm Pongsamran, 54, said he was two kilometres away from his passenger's destination when the slightly cracked road where he was on suddenly slid towards the nearby canal. His taxi fell and could not be driven up. He and his passenger ran out of the vehicle before contacting police, Mr Boonlorm said.
The long section of road subsided suddenly around 1:30 pm, creating a hole about four metres deep and 120 metres long.
Authorities ordered the indefinite closure of the collapsed eastern lane of the Thanyaburi-Lam Luk Ka Road following alongside Khlong 13 canal in tambon Bung Nam Rak of Thanyaburi district of this central province.
The March 1 subsidence happened about 500 metres from a section which collapsed last year, causing a truck carrying machinery to overturn, she said.
In adjacent Ayutthaya province, sporadic subsidence in about 100 locations was reported on 20km-long Ban Krod-Ban Pho Road in tambon Ban Krod of Bang Pa-in district on Monday.
On Sunday, around 100m on Leab Khlong Lam Ree Road in Nonthaburi province subsided.
The five-metre-wide concrete road was built and handed over last month. It runs along the presently shallow Lam Ree canal in Bang Bua Thong district.

Building partially collapses in Over-the-Rhine
CINCINNATI – A building partially collapsed in Over-the-Rhine Sunday.
No one was inside the vacant building on Walnut Street near 13th when it happened at about 2 p.m., officials said.
Crews from Duke Energy worked to cut nearby gas line so neighbors will be safe if more of the building collapses. At the direction of a city engineer, workers didn't a jackhammer in order to avoid more damage.
For now, the building is believed to be stable, officials said. The owner has a meeting with a structural engineer Monday.
Normal Miller, the building owner, said he'd had the structure reinforced about 10 years ago.
He "had no idea that the rear of the building was anywhere near what it was," he said.
Miller said he'd been planning to renovate the building, which was built in the early 20th century, and rent it out. He will rebuild the damaged rear portion, he said.
Christine Douglas owned an ice cream shop in the building for eight years. They moved out and was the last tenant there.
"I know the building very well," Douglas said. "It's a blessing to be out here and be able to speak on it."
Neighbor Mario Tremblay said he wasn't surprised by the collapse. It also happened to a nearby building a few months ago.
"These buildings are 130 years-old," Tremblay said. "They need some help."

Patrons escape before building collapses
MOULTON, Iowa--A southeast Iowa building collapsed Wednesday night with patrons inside.
The Moulton Fire Department got a call around 10:30 p.m. that the roof of the Two Cycles bar in Moulton had collapsed, causing most of the building to crumble.
According to Fire Chief John Replogle, there were about six people inside at the time, but they were able to escape before the building completely collapsed.
The cause of the structure caving in is unknown at this time, however, it could be weather related.
People reported hearing water running before the collapse.
An insurance company was called in to investigate and determine the cause and damage totals.
However, the fire chief says it appears to be a total loss.

Community center roof collapse injures six
Posted on Mar 25, 2016
At least six people in Gorinchem were injured Friday afternoon after a portion of the Bogerd community center caved in, leaving a pile of debris inside the building. Emergency service personnel responded in droves to the incident, with a team from local breaking news website Zuid-Holland Zuid Actueel witnessing at least ten ambulances, a helicopter rescue unit, and a large police and fire department presence. Another air ambulance and a police helicopter was also dispatched to the region.
The severity of the injuries was not revealed as of 3 p.m. Police confirmed that there were no other victims lying beneath the rubble, and the building is sealed off for safety reasons.
It happened just after 1:20 p.m. when the ceiling collapsed in on a group made up mostly of women who were line dancing in the ballroom there. There were several men also in the building playing billiards adjacent to the ballroom, RTV Rijnmond reported.
“We heard cracking, and all of a sudden the whole roof came down. My legs are still shaking!” Cees Stolk told the broadcaster. “There was a great deal of panic. You could not see anything,” he continued.
The cause of the collapse is still under investigation. It is not a particularly old building, “These were all heavy beams that came down,” he said, amazed that the community building ceiling could collapse so quickly.

Skyscraper in United Arab Emirates city of Ajman goes up in flames – the latest in a series of such fires
Images shared on social media showed bright yellow flames spreading up the side of the building as chunks of burning material tumbled to the ground.
The Emirati interior minister, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, rushed to Ajman to help coordinate the response to the blaze, Ajman police said. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Ajman is home to many commuters who work in the Gulf commercial hub of Dubai, further to the south. Like Dubai, it is one of the seven emirates that make up the UAE federation.
Police sealed off a major road near the tower snarling traffic. Hundreds of evacuated residents and onlookers crowded nearby to watch the building go up in flames.
The Dubai-based Gulf News newspaper quoted Ajman Civil Defence director Brig Saleh Saeed al-Matroushi as saying firefighters were at the scene working to put out the fire. A civil defence official contacted by The Associated Press confirmed that firefighting efforts were ongoing late into the night but had no further details.

Four buildings in Baltimore collapse
Baltimore firefighters responded to four building collapses Sunday, but it is unclear if bad weather weakened the structures.
The destruction came as winds reached as high 62 miles per hour in parts of the state Saturday into Sunday causing power outages making bridges dangerous for drivers.
The fire department referred questions about the cause of the building collapses to Baltimore Housing, which was looking into the incidents.
The affected buildings were located at 1620 Payson St., Fulton Avenue and McKean St., Fulton Avenue and Presbury Street and 1556 Retreat St.
There were no entrapments or injuries, firefighters said.
The collapses come days after retired truck driver Thomas Lemmon, 69, was killed last week when a vacant rowhouse collapsed onto his prized Cadillac near his home in the 900 block of N. Payson St. in West Baltimore.

Building In Dramatic Collapse In Tourist Heart Of Istanbul
A five-storey building collapsed spectacularly in a matter of moments in the heart of Istanbul.
A video of the incident showed people standing by, phones at the ready as the building near Taksim square -- a popular hub for tourists and shoppers -- began to rumble.
A white truck is seen frantically backing away, appearing to escape just in time as the building crumbles to the ground in one fell swoop, slamming into buildings across the road and scattering the curious bystanders.
The Dogan news agency said the building was empty, and that no-one was believed to be trapped by the debris, however disaster teams were dispatched to the site as a precaution.
A similar incident occurred in February when a five-storey building collapsed near Istiklal Caddesi, a famous shopping street in the heart of Turkey's biggest city.
Residents of the city remain on edge after a suicide bomber killed four people and injured dozens in an attack on Istiklal avenue on March 19.
In 1999 a massive earthquake in the north-western Izmit region which left more than 17,000 dead exposed numerous weaknesses in building construction in the country, such as the use of low-quality cement and the lack of quality control.

9 injured in construction site collapse near Willis Knighton
Friday, April 8th 2016, 11:13 am EDTFriday, April 8th 2016, 7:56 pm EDT
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Nine workers were pulled from a collapsed building on a hospital construction site in Shreveport Friday morning.
Shreveport Fire Chief Scott Wolverton said 18 workers have all been accounted for at the site. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
A Shreveport Fire Department Urban Rescue team was called to the scene, but Wolverton said there was "no lengthy extrication required on any patient" when they arrived. Most were taken to Willis-Knighton North on site, but Wolverton said some were taken to other area hospitals due to the sheer number of casualties.
"The most difficult part was determining whether we had anybody trapped or not. We needed communication with the people that were on scene to account for all employees on site," said Wolverton, who added there was no lengthy extrication required at the scene, but a large number of patients needed triage and treatment on scene before they were taken to area hospitals.
"We responded and got on scene and saw the magnitude and in sizing up the scene, we recognized that we could have a serious number of patients and again, I think there's probably some divine intervention here that we don't have a worse outcome and things worked out very well."
More than 30 firefighters were called to the scene of a construction accident near Willis-Knighton North Hospital the 2600 block of Greenwood Road just before 10 a.m. article continues............

Massive rescue effort launched for survivors of building collapse
April 12, 2016, Tuesday
Some of the 400 rescue workers search through the rubble of a building on Xixia Road in Shanghai’s Songjiang District that collapsed. The local government declined to say if anyone is believed to be trapped, but said a mother and her son were being treated for bone fractures after being hurt in the incident. The three-story, mixed-use building collapsed shortly before 1pm yesterday. The cause is unknown, though it is believed a construction team was working on the ground floor. — Reuters
TWO people were hurt yesterday when a three-story mixed-use building in Songjiang District collapsed, the district government said via Weibo.
The two lower floors of the property, at 61 Xixia Road, were occupied by retail outlets and the top floor by apartments, it said.
Although all of the people known to be in the building at the time of the collapse have been accounted for, about 400 rescue workers were sent to support the rescue effort.
A Songjiang government official declined to answer any of Shanghai Daily’s questions about the incident, saying information and updates would be provided only via Weibo.
The two people injured were identified only as a 22-year-old woman and her toddler son. Both are being treated for bone fractures at a local hospital, but are said to be doing well.
According to a report by the news website thepaper.cn, the mother and son were rescued after a pregnant woman who was left stranded but unhurt in the incident alerted police to their whereabouts.
A separate report by Songjiang News said that the woman who raised the alarm was the sister of the woman who was injured in the collapse.
While the government has released no information about what caused the building to crumble, it said that renovation work had been under way in one of the ground floor premises.
Eight workers have been confirmed safe, as too have the 15 registered residents of the apartments, it said.
The government said, however, that it had found “signs of life” under some of the rubble, though declined to elaborate.
A total of 150 armed police officers, 150 regular police, 100 firefighters and three ambulances were sent to aid the rescue effort, thepaper.cn said.
The building’s landlord and the workers from the renovation team are helping police with their enquiries, the government said.

90 children from Theatre Works escape 'terrifying' ceiling collapse at Thwaites Empire Theatre, Blackburn
TERRIFIED children had a lucky escape when a theatre ceiling collapsed above the stage where they were about to perform, reports the Bolton News.
Plasterboard fell into the lighting rigging over the stage at the Thwaites Empire Theatre, in Blackburn, while almost 90 children, aged three to 16, from Bolton and Bury-based Theatre Works were rehearsing their production of 'A Night At The Musicals'.
Fortunately, nobody was on stage at the time, but parents said the children who witnessed the incident were left "traumatised".
Eight children, aged four to seven, were just moments from going on stage to rehearse a dance piece from Mamma Mia, while the others sat watching in the auditorium.
The group are now hoping to find a venue that will let them perform the show for free, after putting in months of hard work.
Eight children, aged four to seven, were just moments from going on stage to rehearse a dance piece from Mamma Mia, while the others sat watching in the auditorium.
Emma Matthews, who runs Theatre Works with Lauren Bateman, said: "We grabbed the eight children next to us as the ceiling began to fall in and covered them with our bodies and then started to throw them out into the auditorium to a nearby adult, who escorted them quickly out of the building.
"There was lots of dust and debris falling onto the stage and visibility was impaired due to the black cloud of dust.
"Children in the audience, obviously very scared, saw the ceiling drop and a large dust cloud come towards them, so they ran in the opposite direction to the nearest exits. At the time everyone was terrified and didn't know what was happening."
The group are now hoping to find a venue that will let them perform the show for free, after putting in months of hard work.
The 35-year-old, from Little Lever, added: "We have lots of very upset children who worked so hard on this show and we have nowhere to do it. Better broken hearts than broken bones, but for us it's not good enough.
"With The Albert Halls closed at the moment we have no provision in Bolton for a theatre. Companies and schools are going out of the area, which is such a shame. We have so much performing arts in Bolton with no where to perform, it's ridiculous.
"We used to do our shows at The Met in Bury, which we have now outgrown. This show originally should have been at the Radcliffe Civic Suite which, after we booked it, we found out is now closing down. There must be somebody out there who can help us and give us a theatre to perform our Night at The Musicals show in. We had sold out the entire venue for our show and have all been left severely out of pocket."
Darren Armstrong, whose six-year-old daughter Klarisse was among those inside the theatre, added: "It was very scary and it could have gone horribly wrong. She was absolutely traumatised. It has clearly had an effect on her. She was completely covered in dust."
Michael Berry, chairman of the Thwaites Empire Theatre, said: “Fortunately no-one was on stage when the plasterboard came down. We are not sure why part of the ceiling fell in but we are bringing in a structural engineer to carry out a full survey to ensure that there will be no further problems. We are working closely with the Health and Safety Executive which has been notified as the safety of our audiences is paramount. For the full inspection to be carried out and to allow us to repair the ceiling we have no choice but to cancel all shows at the theatre for a couple of weeks.
"The Theatre Works are a lovely group and it was the first time they were using our theatre. Thankfully, there was nobody injured at all."

2 hurt after concrete slab collapses at Miami Dade College construction site
Posted: Apr 15, 2016 2:52 PM EST Updated: Apr 15, 2016 6:57 PM EST
DORAL, Fla. (WSVN) -- Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded after a large slab of concrete collapses at a construction site at Miami Dade College's West Campus in Doral.
At least two people were injured due to the collapse, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. A beam allegedly fell with a crane still connected to it, which impacted a parking structure that was under construction, at 3800 NW 115th Ave. in Doral. Some believe that was what caused the partial collapse at the construction site.
One worker who suffered life-threatening injuries was treated on the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue first responders before being transported via ambulance to the trauma center. "We did end up transporting two workers from this site with injuries," said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Jeff Strickland. "The cause of this is under investigation."
Another person suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. "They were not pinned by anything," Strickland said. "We packaged them in a stokes basket and brought them down using our ladder truck."
7's Skyforce was on the scene of the incident, which happened at around 2:30, Friday afternoon. Actual concrete slabs could be seen collapsed as a result of the impact.
Miami Dade College said that there were some injuries connected to this and called these injuries minor. The county, however, said that one person was seriously injured.
Miami Dade College District Communications released a statement, Friday afternoon, which stated, "Earlier today, there was a construction incident at MDC's West Campus garage that is currently under construction. There are some minor injuries reported. Because it is Friday, there are not many classes taking place or many people around. Classes and operations have not been impacted. The Campus is open."
According to a report, the building is a new garage that is under construction. The garage is being built to replace a previous garage that partially collapsed in 2012 and killed four people. "We didn't hear anything, but we weren't that far away from it," said one high schooler who takes college level courses. "I mean, now that it's happened twice, I probably wouldn't park there anymore just because I don't trust that it won't happen again."
The construction site has been guarded, as of Friday evening, by the Doral Police Department. The site has been cleared entirely, and this case will be investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
In the meantime, 7News has been told that the construction company, Haskell Construction, has hired the City of Doral Police Department to make sure no one goes near the site.
Officials have sent in engineers to assess the damage.

Ayutthaya road collapses
Apr 17, 2016 | Breaking News
AYUTTHAYA — Another section of the causeway along Khlong Phraya Bunlue canal suddenly collapsed on Sunday, creating a crack about two metres deep and more than 100 metres long.
Danai Ruangprat, head of village Moo 2 in tambon Singhanart, found a section of the eight-metre wide road collapsed on Sunday and reported it to district authorities. The collapsed section was declared off-limits to all vehicles.
Officials said the water level in the canal has receded due to severe drought and this has caused soil underneath the road to subside.
Local authorities on Sunday put up singposts to warn motorists about the collapse. The road was being repaired.
Several sections of the embankment road collapsed last year when drought hit the district.

Seven people, including a mother and baby, were transported to hospital Monday with non-life threatening injuries after scaffolding and part of a building collapsed at a construction site in Toronto’s Forest Hill neighbourhood, a Toronto Police spokesperson said.
The collapse happened around 2:30 p.m. near Bathurst and Eglinton Streets, said Toronto Police Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook. All of those injured were either close to or inside the construction site at the time, she said, adding that the baby, a six-month-old, and mother received minor injuries and are alright. None of the seven suffered life-threatening injuries, but three suffered serious injuries.
“The infant was in a stroller, and the stroller is all twisted and bent,” said Toronto Fire Division Commander Bob O’Halloran. “Fortunately, the infant’s not injured at all, so the stroller must have actually saved that baby.”
The building where the collapse occurred was in the process of being demolished to make way for a transit station for the Metrolinx Eglinton Crosstown line, which is still under construction. Ron Aitken, Project Director at Crosslinx, the consortium of companies contracted to design, build, and finance the line, told reporters at the scene that the only portion of the former two-storey Chinese restaurant standing at the time of the collapse was the building’s facade. Aitken refused to answer reporters’ repeated questions about how the facade was being held up.
Details about the incident remain limited, and it’s not yet known what led to the collapse. Metrolinx Chief Capital Officer John Jensen told reporters they were co-operating with the ongoing investigation, and repeatedly called the incident an “accident.” No Metrolinx employees were injured in the collapse, but it was unclear whether any contract workers handling the demolition were injured, said Metrolinx spokeswoman Anne Marie Aikins.
The Ministry of Labour has been called in and will lead the investigation into the collapse. A police canine unit was at the scene to help search for other possible victims.
