Spain Experiences its Worst Train Accident in 40 Years An increase in train derailments was one of the first symptoms of the approach of Planet X to become noticeable, being expressed even before Planet X entered the inner solar system in 2003. Planet X was described as affecting the Earth from afar, like tugging on the edge of a spider web where the effects are felt elsewhere on the web; in this way there has been an increase in earthquakes and unpredictable weather going back years, even before Planet X entered the solar system, due to the increased swirling of the Earth’s core. It is therefore logical that an increase in train derailments would accompany any increase in seismic activity – train tracks need to be straight and even the slightest shift to the side of a section of track would cause a train to derail. The area most affected by train derailments is the stretch zone. Stretch zone quakes are silent, and people are generally unaware anything is happening, although signs such as booms and trumpet sounds can occur. This zone stretches from Western Europe across the Eurasian Plate, and also includes the South-East United States, the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Red Sea and the African Rift. In other parts of the world, shifting ground is more associated with earthquakes that people are aware of, such as the Pacific which is compressing, so authorities inspect railway tracks after any seismic activity, reducing the likelihood of accidents. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some Examples (click on pictures for link): |

Train cars blown off railroad bridge at Loop 287 W. in Lufkin
LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Numerous train cars were blown off a bridge on Loop 287 West in Lufkin, Sunday morning.
According to TxDOT, the bridge crosses above Loop 287/ North John Redditt Drive, near the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company. Loop 287 from Highway 103 West to Highway 69 North is closed to traffic at this time.
Lufkin police sergeant Dale Jowell said 64 empty train cars blew over. Jowell said the cars were blown over around 7 a.m. by what is believed to be straight line winds. Several street signs, power lines, and trees were also blown down. Billboards in the area were also damaged.
The train cars were stored on the bridge by the company A&NR Railroad and have been monitored and maintained by TxDOT, according to a statement by TxDOT. The cars were believed to be empty when a gust of at least 40 mph took them off the tracks around 7 a.m.
“Removing the railcars in the safest way possible will require certain things to happen,” said Rhonda Oaks, public information officer for the Lufkin District. “Our officials have devised a traffic control plan for motorists until the cars can be removed, and we are hoping that will be by Monday evening. We are waiting on equipment that is being sent from Houston before the cleanup can begin.”
TxDOT says it will take at least 48 hours to upright all 64 rail cars. Barricades will remain in place and drivers will be detoured until the roadway is cleared. Residents with direct access as well as businesses within the barricaded area will be accommodated to and from their locations.
No one was injured.

Train derails in Brevard County; investigation underway
http://www.mynews13.com/content/news/cfnews13/news/article.html/con...
Crews with Florida East Coast Railway and the National Transportation Safety Board are trying to figure out what caused a train to come off the tracks Sunday morning in Brevard County.
Four rail cars that were carrying cargo containers came off the tracks. One locomotive was turned on its side.
According to officials, there was a diesel spill, but it has been contained.
Brevard County Fire Rescue says Viera Boulevard has been reopened to traffic. One southbound lane of U.S. 1, just south of Viera Boulevad is blocked to traffic, closed indefinitely.
"You don’t see that too often,” says Brent Theilacker, who says he drove 30 minutes so he could snap a picture of his kids with the scene behind them.
According to Brevard Fire Rescue, the cargo train was travelling from Miami, on its way up the coast when a locomotive and 4 rail cars derailed in Rockledge at about 5am.
No injuries have been reported.

Train with 200,000 liters of sulphuric acid derails in Australia
The perimeter around the spillage was immediately sealed off, to contain the toxicity. Locals told ABC they could smell the acid immediately. A state of emergency has been declared in a two-kilometer radius.
"Two drivers have been released and the third is expected to be released later today," said the spokesperson for Aurizon, Australia’s largest freight rail operator. "At this early stage, the cause of the incident is not known. Both Aurizon and Queensland Rail will investigate the incident and determine its cause,” he added.
"At this time the focus is on recovery of the incident site."
The Flinders Highway has been shut in the vicinity of Julia Creek and Richmond. Queensland Rail says it doesn’t know how long it might take before the line opens again.
Authorities can’t assess the damage, as wet roads from recent rains have made it difficult to get to the site. The rail operator says it’s looking for different ways to reach it.
"Passenger rail services have been canceled. The Inlander has been canceled today and tomorrow from Townsville to Mount Isa,” a spokeswoman said.
The status of the derailed carriages remains unknown. Aurizon says it has put temporary site safety measures in place before the damage can be further assessed.

Attica train derailment under investigation
http://wlfi.com/2016/01/04/attica-train-derailment-under-investigat...
Norfolk Southern public relations manager Dave Pidgeon said there is no known cause of the derailment.
“I don’t want to engage in any speculation,” said Pidgeon. “There is an investigation going on right now looking at all possible factors.”
As of now Pidgeon said Norfolk Southern will file a report with the Federal Railroad Administration by the end of February with either a determined cause or a progress report of the investigation.
“Transportation by train is a safe mode of transportation,” said Pidgeon. “When these very rare occurrences happen though it’s important for us to get in and safely clean up.”
Attica Mayor Duane Roderick said there’s nothing he can do until after the investigation.
“When I spoke with Norfolk Southern, they said that it’s under investigation with what happened,” said Roderick. “So until I really know what happened with the tracks, there’s really not much more I can do beyond that.”
A team of contractors arrived Sunday night and began laying the 350 feet of track that was derailed.

TARRANT COUNTY
A Fort Worth & Western Railroad train derailed Thursday in rural Tarrant County, tipping over two locomotives and spilling diesel fuel.
Fort Worth fire officials contained the leak by about noon.
The derailment was reported at about 10:45 a.m. near Rocky Creek Park Road and McPherson Boulevard.
Officials had to drive about a mile and a half off the road to find the train, Fire Department spokesman Kyle Clay said. On their way to the train, one of their trucks started a small grass fire, which was also contained.
One of the locomotives carried about 4,500 gallons of diesel.
The derailment separated the two locomotives from the rest of the train.
Fort Worth & Western Railroad workers were on the scene about 1 p.m., trying to get a crane to the site to remove the locomotives, Tarrant County Fire Marshal Randy Renois said.
“The train was way down the track where nobody could get to it,” Renois said.
Repeated calls to Fort Worth & Western were not returned Thursday.

The train tank cars derailed around 8 a.m. on Marina Vista Avenue and Interstate 680 near the Benicia Bridge.
The tank cars are full of sulfuric acid but are not leaking, according to the Contra Costa Hazardous Materials Team.
The trains were on their way to ECO Services, a sulfuric acid supply company. ECO Services own the tracks the train derailed off of and is working with Union Pacific to clear the scene.
A crew with a crane is being called to the scene to upright the tank cars. This is estimated to take a few hours.
The hazmat team is at the scene monitoring the air. Sulfuric acid is a corrosive liquid and is dangerous if it touches skin or if large amounts are leaked.
No injuries have been reported at this time.

Freight train derails close to Bulgaria’s Dupnitsa (ROUNDUP)
24 January 2016 | 01:09 | FOCUS News AgencySofia. A freight train derailed close to the town of Dupnitsa, district of Kyustendil, on the night of Friday into Saturday.
It was initially said 8 freight wagons had overturned at Dupnitsa railway station.
The accident took place at about midnight.
No people got injured.
The freight train was said to have derailed mostly due to high speed while entering the railway station area.
An investigation was launched.
Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) announced 9 freight wagons derailed while a freight train of BDZ’s freight services division was entering the railway station area.
The train had 13 freight wagons and was carrying cement.
Eng. Biser Minchev, expert at the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC), made comments for FOCUS News Agency in relation to the accident.
“We managed to repair fast the three railway tracks at Dupnitsa railway station so that the schedule of trains travelling between Sofia and Kulata was not interrupted,” he said.
The specialist stated the freight train had been carrying cement and had been travelling from Dimitrovgrad to either Blagoevgrad or Kulata.
According to Minchev, four tank cars and five freight wagons derailed at Dupnitsa train station but due to the NRIC staff railway tracks number one, two, and three were repaired.
The expert declined to comment on the reasons that led to the accident and informed an assessment of the damages was also due to be made.

NZ: Goods train derails in National Park, Ruapehu
http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/76279990/goods-train-derails-in-nat...
KiwiRail senior communications advisor Julie Buchanan said soaring temperatures, which peaked at 31 degrees Celsius at nearby Taumarunui on Tuesday, was behind the derailment blocking a level crossing in the Ruapehu district township.
"It's definitely a factor," Buchanan said. "With this weather the tracks do buckle."
Climo said six wagons had come off the tracks, but KiwiRail senior communications adviser David Miller said, in a statement, it was five wagons.
"The derailment occurred around 4pm and it is reported that one of the wagons has tipped off the track," Miller said.
"As a result of the incident, part of the train is blocking the Fisher Road level crossing, and freight services on that section of the North Island Main Trunk Line, are going to be disrupted. KiwiRail is working to clear the site, and while it is too early to say what caused the derailment, we will be investigating."
Residents of Pehi Rd, where there was banter, laughter and music, were unable to get their cars home as the front of the train is blocking the railroad crossing.
A Fisher Rd resident, who would only give his name as Rodney, said they were also inconvenienced.
"I work locally and I've had to leave my car on the other side of the track. It's a real inconvenience to everyone around here especially the tourists wanting to use Fisher Rd," he said.
Residents had thrown a 'train party' to mark the derailment.
"It's the first derailment I've seen around here. It's quite spectacular," he said. "It's the biggest thing to happen here since the mountain blew up."
It appears some damage has been done to the track and the very last carriage has broken free completely.
Emergency services are at the scene of the derailment.

The derailment of 15 cars in total from the southbound Canadian Pacific train occurred about 10 p.m. Tuesday near Reno in Houston County, a CP spokesman said.
“None of the cars in the river contained dangerous goods, and it does not appear that any have leaked,” spokesman Andy Cummings said.
One of the cars that derailed and remained on land lost a saltlike product known as sodium chlorate, a material that is classified as dangerous, Cummings said.
“A very small amount of this product leaked when a cap fell off a railcar,” he said, “but none has reached the river.”
Also on some of the derailed cars was vegetable oil, which did not leak, according to a county official.
A hazardous materials teams remained at the scene as daybreak arrived.

BREWSTER, OHIO - Crews remain on scene of train derailment in Stark County that caused a fire and evacuations in the village of Brewster.
Right now, Brewster police say there is no serious threat to anyone however hazmat and EPA crews remain on scene.
The railroad company was on scene as well, but they still don't know what caused the derailment yet.
The derailment happened earlier this evening in the area of First Street.
The accident sparked a fire between two train cars at the Wheeling and Lake Erie rail yard, one of which was carrying butane.
Because of the fumes and the threat of an explosion, Brewster police and fire evacuated people in a half to three-quarter mile of the derailment.
About 300 to 500 people were sent to Fairless high school as a precaution.
"When we went down our street, it seemed kind of calm, only one ambulance and cruiser. And then within 5 minutes the whole street was lit up red and blue and they were asking us to be out in 20-30 minutes," said Misty Spieker.
Marlon Kurtz added, "We were just sitting at home and then police cars told us to evacuate and go to the high school and wait for instruction."
Ten fire departments, the Brewster police, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Stark County hazmat team, the EPA and the train company were all on scene.
The Red Cross was also at the high school to assist.

Train crash in Germany kills at least 10, injures 80
BAD AIBLING, Germany — Two commuter trains crashed head-on Tuesday in southern Germany, killing 10 people and injuring 80 as they slammed into each other on a curve after an automatic safety braking system apparently failed, the transport minister said.
The regional trains collided before 7 a.m. on the single line that runs near the Bavarian town of Bad Aibling, where the U.S. Army operated a major communications station from 1947 until 2004. Aerial footage shot by APTN showed that the impact tore the two engines apart, shredded metal train cars and flipped several of them on their sides off the rails.
The first emergency units were on the scene within three minutes of receiving the call, but with a river on one side and a forest on the other, it took hours to reach some of the injured in the wreckage. Hundreds of rescue crews using helicopters and small boats shuttled injured passengers to the other side of the Mangfall River to waiting ambulances, which took them to hospitals across southern Bavaria.
Nine people were reported dead immediately while a tenth died later in a hospital, police spokesman Stefan Sonntag said, adding that the two train drivers were thought to be among the dead and one person was still missing in the wreckage.
"We have little more than hope of finding them still alive," he said. "This is the biggest accident we have had in years in this region."
German rail operator Deutsche Bahn said safety systems on the stretch had been checked as recently as last week, but Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt suggested that a system designed to automatically brake trains if they accidentally end up on the same track didn't seem to have functioned properly.
Dobrindt, however, said it was too early to draw a definitive conclusion.
"The site is on a curve. We have to assume that the train drivers had no visual contact and hit each other without braking," Dobrindt told reporters in Bad Aibling, adding that speeds of up to 60 mph were possible on the stretch.
Black boxes from both trains had been recovered and are now being analyzed, which should show what went wrong, Dobrindt said.
"We need to determine immediately whether it was a technical problem or a human mistake," he said.
Authorities had initially reported 150 injured but Sonntag later lowered that figure to 80. Seventeen had injuries considered serious, he said.
Each train can hold up to 1,000 passengers and they are commonly used by children traveling to school. Fewer than 200 people in all were on board Tuesday, however, because of regional holidays to celebrate Carnival.
"We're lucky that we're on the Carnival holidays, because usually many more people are on these trains," regional police chief Robert Kopp said.
About 700 emergency personnel from Germany and neighboring Austria were involved in the rescue effort, using about a dozen helicopters. Train operator Bayerische Oberlandbahn started a hotline for family and friends desperate to check on passengers.
"This is a huge shock. We are doing everything to help the passengers, relatives and employees," said Bernd Rosenbusch, the head of the Bayerische Oberlandbahn.
In Munich, 40 miles away, the city blood center put out an urgent call for immediate donations in the wake of the crash.
Germany is known for the quality of its train service, but the country has seen several other accidents, typically at road crossings. Most recently, a train driver and a passenger were killed in May when a train hit the trailer of a tractor in western Germany, and another 20 people were injured.
In 2011, 10 people were killed and 23 injured in a head-on collision of a passenger train and a cargo train on a single-line track close to Saxony-Anhalt's state capital of Magdeburg in eastern Germany.
Germany's worst train accident took place in 1998, when a high-speed ICE train crashed in the northern German town of Eschede, killing 101 people and injuring more than 80.

70 Injured As Egypt Train Derails
Deadly train and vehicle accidents are common in Egypt, and some have sparked protests against alleged negligence in enforcing safety standards.
The accident occurred in Bani Sueif province south of Cairo as the train was headed to the Egyptian capital from the temple city of Luxor.
"Fifty-eight people were treated for their injuries and discharged, while the rest are under observation in hospital," the ministry said in a statement.

WEISER, Idaho -- No one was hurt when a train derailed near Weiser early Friday morning.
Union Pacific spokesman Francisco Castillo Jr. said the derailment happened at about 4 a.m.
Five of the train's 110 cars went off the track, with one car overturning onto its side. Castillo said the train was carrying soda ash from Wyoming to Portland, Oregon.
Although some of the contents spilled out of the overturned car, soda ash - which is typically used as a water softener or an ingredient in glass - is not hazardous, Castillo said.
Railroad employees are working now to get the train back on the tracks. Two other trains are delayed because of the derailment, but Castillo said Union Pacific hopes to have the train moving again by the end of the day.
The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.

Driver dead as Dutch train derails
A commuter train has derailed after slamming into a crane that was crossing the tracks in the eastern Netherlands, killing the train's driver and injuring seven passengers.
Police say they've detained the driver of the crane for questioning as part of their investigation into the cause of the crash.
The accident around 9am on Monday left the train's four carriages lying on their sides scattered in waterlogged fields and across the rails outside the town of Dalfsen, 125km east of Amsterdam.
Dalfsen's mayor, Hans Noten, told reporters that the accident happened at a time when the train was almost empty.
"In the rush hour, this train would have been totally full," he said.
Noten said the train, which was travelling between the eastern cities of Emmen and Zwolle, was at full speed when it crashed into the crane, though he did not elaborate on exactly how fast it was moving.
The crash happened at a rail crossing with barriers that should stop road traffic as trains pass, according to Prorail, the company that manages the Dutch railway network. Investigators were at the scene to establish the exact cause.
Noten said that the train's driver had been confirmed dead. The driver's identity was not immediately released. Two injured people were hospitalised and five more were treated at the scene and released, the mayor added.

About 45 homes were evacuated a nearby church, and those residents will be allowed to return home Wednesday night around 10 p.m.
The Chautauqua County Emergency Services director says 16 cars of a Norfolk Southern train derailed around 9:45 p.m. near Shaver Street and State Street in the Town of Ripley. There was no fire, but three of the cars were carrying hazardous liquids. Two were carrying ethanol, and the third was carrying propane.
"We're very, very fortunate that we had no loss of life, no fire," said County Executive Vince Horrigan.
Crews from several departments worked with HAZMAT teams to spray a special spray foam to contain the leak which was flowing at about a gallon per minute. At around 4:30 a.m., firefighters on the scene said the leak had been contained, but they acknowledge there was a loss of between 10,000 and 15,000 gallons of product.
"We damned up and protected the waterways into Lake Erie, and were able to contain the spill," said Ripley Fire Chief Mark Smith.
The Coast Guard will continue to monitor the water as a precaution.

Dramatic Photos Show Aerial View of California Train Derailment

A mudslide and trees on the tracks led to the Monday night derailment in Niles Canyon, Union Pacific Railroad spokesman Francisco J. Castillo told ABC News, adding that crews were still at the scene this morning removing the mud from the tracks.
The crews are taking the cars off the train tracks before they remove the car that fell in the water, Castillo said, and he estimated the process could take days.
The train had 214 passengers on board when it struck a tree on the tracks and derailed between Fremont and Pleasanton, according to ACE Train, which operates the commuter service between Stockton and San Jose.
Fourteen people were injured, ACE said. Nine people were transported to the hospital, five of them with minor injuries, while the remaining four had injuries that were considered serious but non-life threatening, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.
"Crews had to fight the creek's fast-moving currents to pull riders from the partially submerged rail car,” Alameda County Sheriff's Sgt. Ray Kelly said.
"It was dark, wet, it was raining," Kelly said. "It was very chaotic.”
Castillo said the water temperature was especially cold.

Amtrak confirmed that its Southwest Chief 4 train derailed approximately 20 miles west of Dodge City shortly after midnight local time.
Amtrak said that there were 128 passengers and 14 crew members on board the train, which was en route to Chicago from Los Angeles. A statement from the railroad said "approximately" 20 passengers were transported to hospitals in Dodge City and Garden City.
KSN-TV reported that 11 passengers had been taken to Western Plains Medical Center in Dodge City, while 10 others had been transported to St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. None of the injuries were reported to be life-threatening.
Amtrak said the other passengers were brought to a recreation center and would be given alternate transportation to their final destination.
The Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed that five train cars were on their side and the derailment had forced the closure of U.S. Highway 50. Amtrak said the train had two locomotives and nine cars.
Susan Morgan, the mother of one of the passengers, told KAKE-TV that her daughter had to be helped out of the train after it began shaking while traveling 75 miles per hour.

Wagons of goods train carrying explosives derails in Madhya Pradesh
Mar 21, 2016, 10.25 PM IST
BHOPAL: Emergency services were put on alert after two wagons of good train carrying high intensity explosives derailed near in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday evening.
Bombs were loaded from ordinance factory Khamaria, Jabalpur for a ministry of defence' stores, said sources.
Wagons got derailed on a special line connecting the ordinance factory to Jabalpur main station.
Derailment of explosive-laden wagons near residential area pressed a panic button among the ordinance authorities and the local administration. Police and fire service were called to the scene.
A company of special armed force (SAF) was also deployed to stop curious residents from reaching the spot. Railway officials said that there was no impact on the rail traffic as the incident was on special line.
"Wagon no 13 and 14 which got derailed were put on track using heavy cranes. Operation lasted within one hour," a railway officer told TOI. Some of the wheels of one wagon slipped from the rail, but it remained upright, he said.
A committee has been set up by the railway department to inquire the matter, he said. One theory is that there must have been some subsidence under the track.
"The bombs were especially packed and there was no risk of explosion. Transportations were being carried out under controlled conditions," said sources in the ordinance factory.
This is the second such incident on this special line within 12 months. Last incident was reported on April 11, 2015 when five wagons of good trains loaded with explosives got derailed. No injury was reported.

Train Derails in Alabama After Flooding Washes Out Railroad Bridge
Meteorologist Danielle Banks has the latest on a train with 22 cars that derailed Friday morning near Opelika, Alabama. Officials are investigating if overnight storms may have damaged the tracks.
A Norfolk Southern train derailed near Opelika, Alabama, Friday morning during a heavy rainstorm. Opelika Police told WTVM that a portion of the railroad bridge was washed out taking the tracks with it.
According to WTVM, 22 cars were derailed even though the front engine, containing a conductor and an engineer, stayed on the tracks. Both the conductor and engineer walked away from the accident unharmed.
“I heard the train blowing its whistle like it always does when it approaches a crossing,” Ken Hilton, a resident of the nearby Creekstone subdivision told the Opelika-Auburn News. “Then I started feeling the ground shaking and hearing metal-on-metal, and then all of a sudden, everything got quiet."
“I knew right away it was a serious accident because of how long it took for this noise to stop,” he said.
The Lee County Emergency Management Agency said in a Facebook post that there were no hazardous materials involved.

2 Dead After Amtrak Train Derails Outside Philadelphia
By Reuters On 4/3/16 at 10:52 AM
A damaged window is seen on an Amtrak passenger train near Chester, Pennsylvania, in this social media picture from Glenn Hills Jr taken Sunday.
An Amtrak train locomotive partly derailed when it struck a backhoe in Chester, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, and two people were killed in the accident, television stations reported.
Amtrak, the U.S. passenger train company, said about 31 passengers had been transported to hospitals, none with life-threatening injuries.
Services were suspended between Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware, until early Sunday afternoon, it said in a statement. It had said earlier it was suspending service between Philadelphia and New York.
The southbound Palmetto train running from New York to Savannah, Georgia, had about 341 passengers and seven crew members aboard when it struck the backhoe and partly derailed, Amtrak said.
Philadelphia's ABC and NBC television affiliates reported two deaths. The Amtrak statement did not mention any deaths. Spokesmen for the Chester police and fire departments were not available for immediate comment.
Fox News said those killed were construction workers who were unable to clear the tracks in time. It quoted witnesses as saying the train's horn sounded before it struck the equipment.
Passenger Stephanie Burroughs described a fireball and windows on the train being blown out upon impact.
"The conductor did inform us that there was a fatality, that there were people working on the track," she told Fox News.
A spokesman for the Trainer United Methodist Church in Chester, about 15 miles southwest of Philadelphia, said it was being used as a staging area and hundreds of passengers were in the church's gymnasium.
In one of Amtrak's deadliest recent accidents, eight people were killed and 43 hurt last May when a New York-bound train derailed in Philadelphia. Officials are still determining the cause of that crash.
Last month, about three dozen people were injured when an Amtrak passenger train derailed in Kansas.

ONR train with seven acid cars derails in North Bay
NORTH BAY — An ONR train derailment early this morning left rail cars hanging from trees off Highway 63, and caused police to close the highway for a time.
The road has now been re-opened.
Three homes were evacuated as police feared the rail cars might roll down the hill and onto the house. A couple of cars are just feet from a house and Malcolm Small Engines business.
The accident occurred about 30-40 metres from the road. The rail cars came off tracks on a the rail line running parallel with Highway 63 between Silver Lady Lane and Peninsula Road.
Seven sulphuric acid rail cars of a total of 25, are off the tracks, but are empty.
Renée Baker, Communications Manager at ONTC told BayToday that, "At 5:30 this morning 25 empty rail cars derailed about six miles north of North Bay. There were no in juries and no environmental concerns and no spills. Our crews are currently re-railing the cars."
Baker said an engineer and conductor were on the train at the time.
Mayor Al McDonald says, "The derailment was believed to be 24 cars, West of Peninsula. We believe the cars to be empty. The fire department is on scene, ONR representatives. We have sent our engineer to the site.
"We believe there is no diesel spill from train engine as engine did not leave track. They may have to close the highway again for clean up of train cars as some cars leaning against trees."

Tewksbury freight train derails
04/09/2016 10:28:55 AM EDT
TEWKSBURY -- A Pan-Am Railways train carrying carbon dioxide derailed off Shawsheen Street at midday Friday, but it did not result in any injuries, leaks or damage, officials said.
Three cars carrying carbon dioxide derailed off the tracks around 12:30 p.m. in the area of 1600 Shawsheen St. All cars remained upright.
Numerous fire and hazardous materials first-responders, along with train employees from Pan Am Railways, worked throughout the afternoon to return the rail cars back on the tracks -- which were not on a commuter rail line.
Tewksbury Fire Chief Michael Hazel said the cause of the derailment is under investigation.
"It could have been due to the recent rain. It's unclear," Hazel said.
"It was pretty uneventful," he added. "The Pan Am workers fixed it pretty quickly."
The train was making a delivery to Praxair, which offers compressed carbon-dioxide gas and liquid carbon dioxide in a variety of purities and concentrations, according to its website.
The refrigerated carbon dioxide is a non-flammable gas, said Hazel. He added, "in this case, there was no damage to the train."
Pan Am Railroad spokesman Cynthia Scarano said they are investigating the cause, and may have a positive conclusion in a few days.
"We'll look at the black box and make a determination," Scarano said.
She said the conductor and engineer on board were not injured.
The state Department of Fire Services Hazardous Materials Response team was on the scene.

Train derails in Scott; trailer park being evacuated
Several cars of a train traveling through Scott partially derailed Wednesday morning, but no injuries have been reported.
The cars partially derailed near the intersection of the tracks and Pecan Grove Road at about 10:30 a.m.
As of 12:40 p.m., officials are saying that, although one car was carrying a dangerous chemical, no leaks have been detected. A company that specializes in hazardous materials leaks is en route from Houston to verify that, Lafayette Fire officials said.
Residents within a quarter mile of the tracks to the north were evacuated, including the Little Blessings day care center and the G&R trailer park. Those residents currently are at the Scott Events Center.
As of 1 p.m., according to State Police, the following streets are affected by the evacuation: Pecan Grove Road, Benford, Hobby, Gary, Finley, Clay and Shell.
Cameron Street was closed between Westgate and Ambassador Caffery for approximately two hours, but as of 12:30 p.m. Wednesday it had been reopened.
Although it is unclear who ordered the evacuation, employees at Service Chevrolet on Ambassador Caffery, south of the tracks, say they were evacuated this morning; by 1 p.m. the dealership was open again.
Since the incident was reported at about 10:30 Thursday morning, there has been confusion among various first responding agencies regarding the facts of the derailment. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office spokesmen reported at one point that there was a leak on the train, but the Lafayette Fire Department has stated that no leak has been detected. The LPSO's spokesmen have since stated that no leak has been detected.
The LPSO spokesmen also stated that the evacuation was a one-mile radius, but again the Fire Department spokesman said it was only a quarter mile, and just north of the railroad tracks. Telephone calls to businesses located within the one-mile radius indicate that those employees were still in place, and business owners tell KATC TV3 that they have not been contacted by anyone.
Lafayette Fire officials said the substance on the train was phosphoric acid.
Phosphoric acid is mainly used to make fertilizers, detergents, and pharmaceuticals, according to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It becomes dangerous if it's inhaled, ingested or comes in contact with the skin or eyes and can cause irritation of eyes, skin, upper respiratory system; burns; and dermatitis, according to the CDC.
------------------------------------------
12:30 p.m. update:
Cameron Street is now open.
Although deputies say the evacuation zone is one mile, firefighters say the evacuation zone is only a quarter mile north of the railroad tracks.
The mobile home north of the railroad tracks in Scott, near Pecan Grove Road, is being evacuated. Residents are being taken to the Scott Event Center where Red Cross will be assisting them. We're told the substance in the car is phosphoric acid, and it is not believed to be airborne at this time.

It becomes dangerous if it's inhaled, ingested or comes in contact with the skin or eyes and can cause irritation of eyes, skin, upper respiratory system; burns; and dermatitis, according to the CDC.
Firefighters say they're unsure if the car is leaking.

Authorities are responding to a train derailment in Scott near Pecan Grove Road.
Details are scarce, but a KATC reporter on scene says evacuations are under way on Cameron Street from Ambassador Caffery Parkway toward Scott as far as the reporter can see.

Railroad company BNSF investigating cause of derailment
5:51 p.m. CDT April 14, 2016
The railroad company that was hauling 118 rail cars Wednesday when 11 of them derailed is in charge of investigating the incident.
"At this point, this is a BNSF investigation," Joe Faust, public affairs director for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company, said Thursday
The BNSF train was heading west out of Lafayette around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday when 11 cars jumped the tracks near Pecan Grove Road, between Cameron and Willow streets.
All the cars remained upright except a tank car containing phosphoric acid. Luckily, it didn't leak, but residents in 138 homes were forced to evacuate until 8:30 p.m.
The cause of the derailment has not been determined, but BNSF is conducting "a full investigation" that will probably take at least 30 days to conclude, Faust said.
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Railroad Administration investigates some train derailments, but not this one.
An FRA inspector visited the derailment site and remained on the scene until the rail cars were placed upright Wednesday night, an FRA spokesperson wrote in an email response to The Daily Advertiser's inquiry.
A derailment must meet certain criteria for the FRA to conduct an investigation.
Those criteria include a derailment resulting in a fatality or serious injury, derailment of a large number of cars resulting in extensive property damage, a derailment resulting in the "release of hazardous materials and incidents involving an evacuation, especially if it poses an imminent safety hazard to persons in the surrounding locale," or incidents that "arouse considerable public interest."
Faust wouldn't say what was in the other 10 derailed cars, only that it was "mixed freight." Some of the cars were empty, he said.
The track and ballast — rocks that support the rail — were replaced, allowing trains to travel the route again, Faust said. A crossing near the derailment remained closed Thursday afternoon but was expected to re-open by mid-day Friday.

Train derails in Fostoria
FOSTORIA — No one was injured Monday morning when a CSX freight train traveling through Fostoria derailed near the Iron Triangle.
Eleven of the train’s more than 230 cars came off the tracks and tumbled onto their sides at about 6:40 a.m. while preparing to maneuver around a curve at the Columbus Avenue railroad crossing. The derailed cars were empty, according to the Associated Press.
Dean Henry, public information officer for the Seneca County Emergency Management Agency, said no hazardous materials were released and no injuries were reported. Fostoria Fire Division and emergency medical personnel did respond to assist CSX in its cleanup efforts.
According to the Associated Press, the train of more than 230 cars and five locomotives left Walbridge and was en route to Cumberland, Maryland. The company said at least 75 cars on the train were carrying freight that included automotive parts, agricultural products and consumer goods.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
Matt Lehner, public affairs director with the Federal Railroad Administration, said an inspector for the organization was on scene Monday afternoon assessing the damage and reviewing the circumstances that led to the incident.
Columbus Avenue, between Crocker and Town streets, was closed for most of the day Monday while a contractor with CSX spent several hours putting derailed cars back on the track.
There was no word Monday night on when Columbus Avenue would reopen.

Sampark Kranti Express derails again
B B Goswami | TNN | Apr 27, 2016, 06.36 AM IST
Silchar: Within four days, the New Delhi-Silchar Poorvattar Sampark Kranti Express was derailed again in the Lumding-Silchar hill section of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
The train, comprising 21 coaches, had left Silchar at 6.30pm on Monday for New Delhi. Rail service in the hill section was disrupted as a pair of wheels of the luggage cum parcel van of 15601 Poorvattar Sampark Kranti Express was derailed at about 1.50am on Tuesday. This happened between Mahur and Phiding stations, about 83 km from Lumding, amid inclement weather conditions. There was no report of any injury to passengers.
On Saturday, two wheels of the front engine of 15602 UP Poorvattar Sampark Kranti Express derailed between Ditokcherra and Bandarkhal station in the Lumding-Silchar hill section. There were no injuries in the incident either.
A senior NFR official said running of normal train services in the Lumding-Silchar hill section resumed from 1.20pm on Tuesday after the derailed luggage cum parcel van was re-railed at 8am on Tuesday. The 15601 Poorvattar Sampark Kranti Express, which was stranded at New Haflong, left for Lumding on its onward journey. However, train services in the Lumding-Silchar hill section are being controlled, following the derailment.
Poorvattar Sampark Kranti Express of April 26, scheduled to leave Guwahati at 6.15pm, has been rescheduled to leave at 10.15pm from Guwahati. The Guwahati-Silchar Kanchanjungha Express of April 26 will remain cancelled between Guwahati and Silchar. Silchar-Guwahati Kanchanjungha Express of April 27 will remain cancelled between Silchar and Guwahati. Guwahati-Silchar fast passenger of April 25, which was rescheduled to leave from Guwahati at 10.30am on April 26, was cancelled. Silchar-Guwahati fast passenger of April 26 will be short-terminated at Chandranathpur and will return to Silchar as a special train.
Apart from derailment, train services are being affected every now and then in the Lumding-Silchar Hill section over the past few weeks due to frequent landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in the region. The hill section was converted to broad gauge last year and the first BG passenger train was launched in the newly converted section on November 21.
NFR chief public relations officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma said weather condition continues to remain inclement in the affected areas and road communication to the Barak Valley also remains disrupted.

Train derails in Washington, DC; leaks hazardous chemical
WASHINGTON — Officials warned Washington D.C. area residents to brace for a potentially slow commute Monday after a CSX freight train derailed near a Metro stop, sending 15 cars off the tracks and spilling hazardous material.
The train derailed about 6:40 a.m. Sunday near the Rhode Island Avenue Metro station and one of the cars leaked sodium hydroxide, which is used to produce various household products including paper, soap and detergents, CSX said.
No injuries were reported and no evacuations were ordered.
Mayor Muriel Bowser said no trains will be running on the tracks Monday and CSX couldn't say how long the cleanup might take.
"We understand that this a significant inconvenience to commuters and to this community so we're working as quickly as we possibly can with safety as the first priority," CSX spokeswoman Melanie Cost said.
Sodium hydroxide, also known as corrosive lye, is a chemical that can irritate and burn the skin and eyes. D.C. Fire and EMS Deputy Chief John Donnelly said officials believe about half of the 15,500 gallon tanker leaked into the rail bed and ground before it was plugged, but no problems have been reported.
"At this point all of the air monitoring has been good," Donnelly said.
The Federal Railroad Administration issued a statement later Sunday that 15 cars had derailed, nine of them empty and one a general freight car carrying scrap steel. Spokesman Matthew Lehner said five were tank cars, including the one loaded with sodium hydroxide.
Officials found that another derailed car had been leaking non-hazardous calcium chloride, CSX said. That leak has also been plugged, the company said.
A third car was slowly leaking ethanol from the base of a valve, CSX said. Officials worked to re-seal the valve, and the spilled the ethanol has been contained.
It was not immediately clear what caused the derailment of the train, which was heading to Hamlet, North Carolina, from Cumberland, Maryland.
Crews were inspecting the tracks, which are used by CSX, the MARC commuter rail system and Amtrak. The Metro tracks are above and adjacent to the derailment site.
MARC officials said commuters should expect major services disruptions on the Brunswick Line Monday. MARC said trains likely won't operate past Silver Spring and urged residents to find an alternative way to get to work.
The Red Line's Rhode Island Station was also closed and Metro was reporting delays along that line. Metro officials said they hoped to have Red Line service fully restored Sunday evening.
Photos tweeted by D.C. Fire and Emergency showed cars in a zigzag line across the tracks.
Chris Nellum said he lives nearby and his window looks directly over the tracks.
"I thought it was like a semi-truck coming toward the building and when I looked out the window, I saw cars piling up," said Nellum, who had just moved in the night before. "So I'm not even used to hearing trains. It was jarring."
Nellum said his girlfriend tried to leave the area and was told to stay put, but she eventually found a way out.
"She's an environmentalist so she is very concerned about whatever is leaking," he said.
The CSX train had three locomotives and 175 cars, including 94 that were loaded with mixed freight, and 81 that were empty.

Train derails in Timnath; first major incident since 2007
Several cars on a train went off the tracks in a Timnath residential area Sunday morning. Nobody was injured, and the cars were hauling sand.
The first significant Larimer County train derailment since 2007 could have been worse. Way worse.
Nine cars hauling sand used in hydraulic fracturing activities derailed Sunday morning in a residential area east of Fort Collins, drawing residents armed with cameras and capturing the attention of passersby young and old.
The derailment was first reported about 11:50 a.m. near Bethke Elementary School in Timnath. Crews from Poudre Fire Authority responded to the scene and located the mangled cars crunched on top of one another just a few hundred feet from homes, some under construction, in the Timnath Ranch subdivision.
PFA's hazardous materials crews and medical personnel from Poudre Valley Hospital EMS responded as a precaution. Trains that haul crude oil often move through the area, and it took some time for responders to confirm none of the approximately 100 cars on the Great Western Railway train were hauling materials that posed a chemical or explosive threat.
The overturned cars were loaded with silica sand, commonly used in fracking activities, said Madeline Noblett, PFA spokeswoman.
Aside from the disfigured cars and twisted rails, the derailment did not damage any other property. Nobody was injured.
“This went as best as a train derailment could go," Noblett said at the scene.
Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Timnath police initially ushered bystanders away from the scene. Within 30 minutes responders slung caution tape around the train cars, and residents flocked to the line, snapping photos in awe of the force that heaved the train cars atop one another and carved deep into the ground.
One neighbor reported hearing a series of loud bangs that lasted about five seconds — she quipped at the time that it sounded as if the train had fallen over.
It had.
Construction crews are in the process of building a road that will connect two neighborhoods across the tracks. The road will go right through where the derailment happened — the cars that derailed were in the middle of the train.
The cause of the derailment remains under investigation, said Ron Margulis, spokesman with Great Western Railway. It was not immediately clear Sunday night how long it would take to right the train cars and repair the tracks in the area.
Derailments, especially those involving multiple cars, are rare in Larimer County.
Most recently, in November one hopper car of a three-car train jumped the tracks near the intersection of Riverside and Lemay avenues. That incident didn’t cause any traffic issues, but crews had to use a crane to lift the car back onto the tracks.
Prior to that, the last time a train ran off the tracks in Larimer County was Dec. 16, 2007, when a locomotive and 11 cars operated by Great Westerncrashed near Johnstown, just inside of county jurisdiction, according to records maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration.
