Spain Experiences its Worst Train Accident in 40 Years An increase in train derailments was one of the first symptoms of the approach of Planet X to become noticeable, being expressed even before Planet X entered the inner solar system in 2003. Planet X was described as affecting the Earth from afar, like tugging on the edge of a spider web where the effects are felt elsewhere on the web; in this way there has been an increase in earthquakes and unpredictable weather going back years, even before Planet X entered the solar system, due to the increased swirling of the Earth’s core. It is therefore logical that an increase in train derailments would accompany any increase in seismic activity – train tracks need to be straight and even the slightest shift to the side of a section of track would cause a train to derail. The area most affected by train derailments is the stretch zone. Stretch zone quakes are silent, and people are generally unaware anything is happening, although signs such as booms and trumpet sounds can occur. This zone stretches from Western Europe across the Eurasian Plate, and also includes the South-East United States, the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Red Sea and the African Rift. In other parts of the world, shifting ground is more associated with earthquakes that people are aware of, such as the Pacific which is compressing, so authorities inspect railway tracks after any seismic activity, reducing the likelihood of accidents. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some Examples (click on pictures for link): |

CSX train derails in Oldham County
12:56 PM, Aug. 5, 2011 | 7 Comments
Derailment crews are working on the clean up of nine derailed freight cars – one of which is an upright tanker of hydrogen peroxide – behind Northland Corp., according to CSX officials.
There were no injuries, and the derailment produced no leaks or hazards to the surrounding area, CSX spokeswoman Carla Groleau said.
Four of the nine cars are lying on their side, and the other five are upright, Groleau said.
“Derailing doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re knocked over. They’re just knocked off track,” Groleau said.
The mixed-freight train was carrying scrap , rocks and the one tanker with hydrogen peroxide. Many of the cars were empty, Groleau said.
The derailment, called in to Oldham County dispatch shortly after midnight Friday morning, was in a wooded area behind Northland Corp., away from roads and out of si

Train traveling from Kingfisher derails in Texas; heat could be factor
MINEOLA, Texas — A freight train derailment in rural East Texas has left 18 grain-hauling cars off the tracks as Union Pacific officials review whether heat was a factor.
MINEOLA, Texas (AP) — A freight train derailment in rural East Texas has left 18 grain-hauling cars off the tracks as Union Pacific officials review whether heat was a factor.
UP spokeswoman Raquel (ruh-KEL') Espinoza says crews are working to clear the tracks, several miles east of Mineola (min-ee-OH'-luh), but it would likely be Saturday before the line reopens.
She says nobody was hurt Thursday afternoon in the derailment of a train made up of four locomotives and 99 cars, traveling from Kingfisher, Okla., to Westwego, La.
Espinoza says the cause of the derailment is sought, but heat will be considered. The National Weather Service says the temperature in the area reached 109 degrees.
Some hopper cars overturned, spilling grain. Espinoza didn't immediately have a damage estimate.
Mineola is 75 miles east of Dallas.

Train derails near Sabin
SABIN, Minn. – Nine rail cars were off their tracks Saturday afternoon after a BNSF Railway train derailed about 10 miles south of Moorhead in rural Clay County.
SABIN, Minn. – Nine rail cars were off their tracks Saturday afternoon after a BNSF Railway train derailed about 10 miles south of Moorhead in rural Clay County.
The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m., less than a mile north of Hoff Lutheran Church, said Deputy Mike Trygg of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Trygg said the nine cars that came off the track had not been hauling cargo, and no injuries were reported. He said there was no hazardous waste spilled.
Amy McBeth, a spokeswoman for BNSF, said the cause of the accident was not yet known but was being investigated. She said crews expected to have the track cleared and the line repaired by early this afternoon.
On average, 10 cars per day travel that stretch of track, McBeth said. The train that derailed had 33 cars loaded and 31 without a load and was heading to Minot, N.D., coming north from Minneapolis, she said. It was hauling a variety of types of freight, she said.
A long string of rail cars that had been connected to those that derailed still sat on the track north of the site of the accident about two hours after the incident, which blocked access across 100th Avenue South where it crosses the track.
McBeth said she wasn’t sure how long it would be before those cars would be released to continue north.

All train cancelled in Bekasi
BEKASI: Operators of Bekasi’s railway station cancelled dozens of train trips on Sunday after a train derailed in Jatinegara Station, blocking the lines for trips from the eastern part of Jakarta.
http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2011/08/08/all-train-cancelled-b...Deputy head at Bekasi Station, Dwi Effendi, said the train derailed on Saturday night, prompting the trip cancellations from early on Sunday.
“We announced the cancellations since dawn [on Sunday],” Dwi said as quoted by kompas.com.
The cancellations prompted passengers to take other means of transportation to get to Jakarta.
The majority of passengers took intercity buses to downtown Jakarta, while others journeyed on diesel-powered trains bound for Senen railway station in Central Jakarta.
The train’s derailment in Jatinegara station also affected trains coming into the station from West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta and East Java. Most incoming travellers experienced at least a 30-minute delay, kompas.com reported.

Now heatwave 'causes' train to derail amid fears 100F-plus temperatures warped tracks as thousands of heat records were set last month
Last updated at 11:50 PM on 8th August 2011
A freight train derailed in drought-hit Texas could have come off the line due to warped tracks caused by the state's relentless heatwave after it experienced its hottest July on record.
Thousands of heat records were set during July across the country with Oklahoma racking up the country's highest monthly average temperature ever.
That's the highest average temperature, for any month, for any state, at 89.1 degrees, topping an average of 88.1 set in July 1954, associate Oklahoma state climatologist Gary McManus said.
Mr McManus said: 'We've been beating temperature records left and right, from the 1930s Dust Bowl drought and the 1950s drought.'
He also revealed that nationwide, in the past 30 days, 3,709 high temperature records have been set or tied.
Extreme drought: Texans have endured over a month of extreme heat and drought
And, worse, there have been 7,410 records for overnight warmth broken or tied, meaning less chance to recover from the sweltering daytime readings.
'This has been a devastating year,' National Weather Service director Jack Hayes said. 'Natural disasters are on the rise in the United States,' he noted, including records for heat, tornadoes, floods and fires, and with the bulk of hurricane season still remaining.
And it appears that with the end of August did not come the end of the heatwave. Waco, Texas, tied its record for the most consecutive days of 105 degrees or more at six from August 1 to 6.
And Dallas-Fort Worth is on pace to establish a new record for consecutive 100-degree days. It's currently at 38 days, from July 2 to August 8
The July average for Texas was 87.1 degrees.
Power officials had warned last week of rolling blackouts in the state as sweltering residents turned to air conditioning units in unprecedented numbers.
The current heat wave is typical of U.S. heat waves in the past decade and is consistent with the increasing warm summer night time extremes observed across much of the country since the late 20th century, NOAA reported.

Update: NJ Transit hoping for smoother commute Wednesday
NJ Transit officials are hoping for a smoother commute Wednesday morning following a train derailment that sent commuters scrambling for alternative routes into and out of New York on Tuesday.
Two cars on a 10-car train derailed around 8 a.m. shortly after leaving Penn Station. The trains were using the north tube, which carries trains out of New York.
An estimated 300 people – none of whom were in the derailed cars – were moved to another train, and there were no injuries, said Penny Bassett Hackett, spokeswoman for the transit agency.
NJ TRANSIT is operating limited service on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast line Tuesday evening, and will continue to route Midtown Direct trains to and from Hoboken Terminal.
NJ Transit rail tickets and passes will be honored on NJ Transit buses, private carrier buses and PATH trains at Newark, Hoboken and New York for the remainder of the day.
For advisories and other travel information, visit:
The north tube was shut down and all NJ Transit and Amtrak trains – which share a pair of tunnels in and out of the city – were restricted to the south tube.
The derailed cars remained inside the north tube after the evening commute. NJ Transit planned to use a crane to retrieve them overnight. Bassett Hackett said the agency did not want to remove the car during the commute and create more delays. Normal service is expected to resume in time for today’s morning rush, she said.
NJ Transit canceled several trains on both the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line on Tuesday to minimize the use of the single track, but delays of up to 90 minutes tested the patience of customers, many of whom had to hustle to catch the PATH to Hoboken.
Passengers used social media to vent about the delays. After getting an NJ Transit notification about the delays, one Twitter user wrote, “YEAH! @NJT_Advisory is delayed this evening too. Woo hoo! Consistency is a good thing. But not in

2nd train in week derails in NYC; disrupts commute
NEW YORK — A train has derailed in New York City and disrupted the evening commute for the second time in a week. No injuries were reported.
The Long Island Rail Road and New Jersey Transit say an Amtrak train slipped off the rails at the Sunnyside train storage yard in Queens Thursday. Both railways were reporting track changes and delays up to 30 minutes at Penn Station because of the derailment.
An Amtrak spokesman could not be reached for comment.
Two cars of a New Jersey Transit train derailed Tuesday as it was leaving Penn Station and heading into the tunnel under the Hudson River.
Authorities were forced to shut down the tunnel, disrupting train traffic throughout the Northeast. The train was finally cleared and the track repaired around noon on Wednesday.

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. (WWLP) - At least 12 rail cars of a 2000-foot-long freight train tipped over during a derailment in Stockbridge Friday night.
Stockbridge Police officer Bruce Stringer said some 600 feet of track were damaged when the train left the tracks a little after 6:30 p.m. Officer Stringer said the Housatonic Railroad train was hauling trash from Canaan, Connecticut to Pittsfield. The train is stuck on and off tracks parallel to Glendale Road between Furnace Road and Great Barrington town line.
The affected area is on tracks parallel to Glendale Road near Furnace Road. Police have closed a section of Glendale Road where the fire department has set up a command post.
"There is no fuel spill. There is no Hazmat... No one was hurt" Stringer said.
Stringer also told 22News that, "there are at least a dozen cars on their side, and several others leaning over... it's dark."
Stockbridge firefighters were called in to hose down the cargo of garbage, which officer Stringer said was smoking.
Police and recovery workers are waiting for daylight to better assess the situation, and await the arrival of heavy equipment to begin the process of removing the derailed freight cars.

NJ Transit riders were once again greeted with a nightmare commute home last night after the second train derailment of the week wreaked havoc on the system.
An Amtrak train skipped a stretch of track in Queens shortly after 4 p.m. Because both systems use that track to get into Penn Station, NJ Transit was forced to reroute its Northeast Corridor service at rush hour.
Some trains were delayed, further irritating commuters still reeling from Tuesday's meltdown.

Train driver charged over deadly derailment in Poland
Topic: Polish train crash
Four carriages of a passenger train bound from Warsaw to Katowice went off the tracks in the village of Baby, near the city of Piotrkow Trybunalski in central Poland
© AFP/ PAP / Grzegorz MichalowskiThe Polish attorney general's office charged a train driver over Friday's derailment in Central Poland which left one person dead and more than 80 injured, Polish media said.
Four carriages of a passenger train bound from Warsaw to Katowice went off the tracks in the village of Baby, near the city of Piotrkow Trybunalski in central Poland at 4 p.m. local time.
The attorney general's office requested a three-month arrest for the 42-year-old train driver, saying that his actions caused the tragedy. The driver pleaded not guilty and faces a prison sentence of two to 12 years if convicted.
The TVN 24 channel said on Saturday the train exceeded the speed limit as travelled at a speed of 118 kmph at a railway section, which had been under repair for a month and where the speed limit was 40 kmph.

Train derails in C’nawabganj
Train services between Chapainawabganj, Rajshahi and in the adjoining areas remained suspended since Friday morning after a passenger train derailed near Chapainawabganj railway station in the town.
Locals and station officials said two bogies of the Rajshahi Express derailed some 15 yards away from the railway station around 7:55am as soon as it started for Rajshahi.
The accident might have occurred due to faults in railway tracks, they added, reports our correspondent from Chapainawabganj.
Railway communications between Chapainawabganj-Rohanpur and Rajshahi remained snapped since then.
Monirul Islam, stationmaster of Chapainawabganj railway station, said mechanics from Amnura Railway junction rushed in and are working to salvage the compartment.

Train Collision Near Waterloo
6 photos
WATERLOO, Indiana (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Highway 6 was closed for nearly two hours Friday morning in Waterloo after a freight train derailed two grain rail cars.
Norfolk Southern officials say the engine of a west bound freight train stuck another train that was stopped on tracks at US 6 and County Road 427 around 5:25 Friday morning.
As a result of the collision, two locomotives and 16 rail cars were knocked off the tracks. The stopped train had 132 cars and 120 were reported to be empty. No hazardous materials were included in the other 12 cars, but corn did spill at the site from at least one car.
The train that struck the stopped train was carrying ballast (rock).
The accident shut down both tracks and caused disruptions in Amtrak's passenger service. Norfolk Southern is hoping to open the tracks by late this afternoon.
There were no injuries reported and no material leakage. Power lines were knocked down causing power outages around the area. This is the 2nd derailment in the past 17 months in Waterloo. Thirty-eight cars derailed from a coal train in March of 2010.

Rangpur Express, the intercity train inaugurated on Sunday, derailed in Tangail Tuesday morning, delaying the journey by about seven hours.
Railway officials said the engine of the train derailed with a passenger coach at Mohera Railway Station at about 11:30am. The train with seven passenger coaches left Kamalapur Railway Station for Rangpur at 9:30am.
They said derailment occurred due to a mistake by the driver while giving passage to Silk City from Rajshahi.
“Usually, a train enters a side loop and waits there for another train to pass. But the driver of Rangpur Express continued running the train after entering the loop that caused derailment,” said a railway official.
The assistant director (operation) of Bangladesh Railway said an engine was sent to the scene from Dhaka.
“The train left Tangail for Rangpur at about 6:30pm, leaving the derailed engine and the coach at the spot,” he told The Daily Star.
Rangpur Express which was supposed to reach Rangpur at 7:00pm will be delayed by at least seven hours. This means the train will reach Rangpur seven hours late, causing immense suffering to the passengers.
Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain inaugurated the first intercity train between Dhaka-Rangpur Sundayy evening.
The 11-compartment train runs twice daily, excepting Sunday. It leaves Rangpur station at 7:40pm and reaches Dhaka at 6:35am, taking almost 11 hours. On the other hand, the train leaves Dhaka at 9:00am and is scheduled to reach Rangpur at 7:00pm.

I looked for news immediately after but nothing had been on RSOE or breaking news on google. That's the 1st thing I thought of too but I remember reading an article earlier in the morning that standard mph had been reduced saying slower trains would reduce the risk of derailments. That came in just enough time which is suspect since we know USGS holds on to information and waits for the OK to post their findings. I'm wondering if the (real) graphs that we don't get to see (until altered) had shown the administration that we were about to have a shakeup in VA.......interesting.

Train derails in C’nawabganj
Rail communication of Chapainawabganj with Rohanpur of the district and Rajshahi remained suspended for six and a half hours since Thursday morning after a passenger train derailed near Chapainawabganj Railway Station.
According to railway sources, four wheels of a compartment of Chapainawabganj-bound Mahananda Express from Khulna veered off the tracks just before entering the station around 5:00am.
Mohammad Moniruzzaman, stationmaster of Chapainawabganj Railway Station, said the train service on the routes resumed around 11:30am after mechanics from Amnura Railway Junction reached the spot and salvaged the bogie.
The accident may have occurred due to faulty tracks, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent quoting the railway officials.
Earlier, Rajshahi Express, a Rajshahi-bound passenger train, derailed at the same spot on April 19 while another Rajshahi-bound passenger train derailed at Mohadanga in Chapainawabganj town on July 24 due to faults in the rail tracks.

Train wagons 'jumped' at level crossing in Sutherland
Network Rail were alerted to the derailment of a freight train after a member of the public saw some of its 27 empty wagons "jump".
The train had been travelling from Georgemas in Caithness to Hartlepool on 23 February this year.
Parts of a brake broke and fell on to the tracks at Dalchalm level crossing in Sutherland causing the last wagon to derail, according to a new report.
It re-railed at another level crossing about 340m (0.2mile) down the line.
No-one was hurt in the incident.
A newly-published Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) report said a man living near the Dalchalm crossing had seen some of the wagons "jump".
When the train had passed he found parts of the broken brake and alerted a signaller at Inverness.
The train driver, who had been unaware of the derailment, stopped between Golspie and Rogart.
After finding the damaged brake he considered it unsafe to continue any further and called for assistance.

HAVRE, Mont. (AP) — A 93-car freight train en route from Spokane to Minneapolis has derailed on Montana's heaviest used rail line, injuring two crew members and leaving several cars and locomotives piled on their sides along the tracks.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas says the cause of the derailment Sunday afternoon at Havre is under investigation. He says one crew member suffered a shoulder injury and another was taken to a local hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.
The accident derailed the three locomotives and the first 23 cars of the train. Melonas says 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from one of the locomotives, but the spilling had stopped and there was no expected environmental threat.
He says beans and lumber also spilled from the train cars will be cleaned up over the next week.

Health officials said among the injured are five tourists, including three French, one Portuguese and one British citizen. At least eight patients have undergone orthopedic surgeries due to several fractures, the officials added.
Rio's Secretary of Transportation, Julio Lopes, visited the scene of the accident, which he said could hurt tourism in the city. Lopes said the tram service in the district will be suspended until the cause of the accident is determined.
According to a preliminary investigation, poor maintenance and overloading may have caused the derailment. At the time of the accident, the tram was carrying 62 passengers while the maximum allowed is 40.
On Sunday afternoon, residents of Santa Teresa demonstrated near the crash site while flowers were left to mourn the victims. Sunday's accident is not the country's first tram accident this year. In June, a French tourist died after falling from a tram as it was crossing a bridge.

21 injured when passenger train hits construction equipment
Engines from Amtrak’s No. 6 California Zephyr route derailed and toppled to their side after striking a crane being used to demolish an aging grain elevator at Doane, located between Benkelman and Parks. EMTs, firefighters and law enforcement officers from Wauneta, Palisade and Imperial were among the 200 responders assisting after the accident.
Emergency responders from Wauneta, Palisade and Imperial joined others from across southwest Nebraska, northwest Kansas and northeast Colorado in responding to what many feared would be a grim scenario of disastrous proportion.
Emergency medical technicians, firefighters and other first responders braced themselves for a situation they had been warned could involve dozens of serious injuries in a train/vehicle accident and subsequent derailment of the Amtrak passenger train in the sparsely populated reaches of far southwest Nebraska.
Thankfully, when they arrived at the scene, they found crew members calmly helping most passengers climb down from the train.
The collision occurred when an Amtrak train en route from California to Chicago struck a piece of construction equipment being used on a demolition project west of Benkelman in rural Dundy County Friday morning, forcing two locomotives and several cars off the rails but causing no critical injuries, officials said.
The train, running Amtrak’s California Zephyr route from Emeryville, Calif., to Chicago, had 175 passengers and 17 crew members on board when it struck the crane shortly before 8 a.m. at an old railway loading stop called Doane.
An old tin-covered wooden elevator was being torn down at the site, with the crane used in the dismantling process.
The two locomotives left the tracks and tipped over, but the derailed passenger cars did not topple, Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said. The other cars on the 10-car train remained on the tracks.
Magliari said the train collided with the crane. “Our understanding is a portion of a crane working on a demolition project near the tracks became an obstruction to us as our train approached, either across the tracks or on laying on the tracks, obstructing the path of the train,” he noted.
Officials reported that 21 people were injured in the incident and transported by ambulance to area hospitals. Those hurt in the crash were taken to hospitals in Benkelman, Imperial and Wray, Colo., where most were treated for back, shoulder and neck injuries.
None of the injuries were critical, and most of the injured had been released by Friday evening, said Dundy County emergency director Elaine Frasier.
“We all felt very fortunate that no one was critically injured,” added Frasier.
Over the course of the morning Friday the other passengers were shuttled by school buses to Benkelman’s Dundy County-Stratton High School where they were picked up later that afternoon by private buses provided by Amtrak or in vans and taxis hired by passengers.
In the meantime school staff, community members and area volunteers hosted the stranded passengers at the school, passing out bottled water and grilling hamburgers and hotdogs on gas grills outside the school’s commons area as the commun

The train, which was running on Amtrak’s California Zephyr route from Emeryville, Calif., to Chicago, was reportedly running about eight hours behind schedule when it derailed west of Benkelman. The train was also involved in an accident near Reno, Nev.last Thursday when it collided with an SUV that was left high centered on the railroad tracks.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning Gerald Shatler, owner of G & S Recycling, and two of his employees were continuing their work of dismantling the old Doane Elevator buildings located about five miles west of Benkelman. The three were using a truck-mounted crane that Shatler had contracted for the job.
One man was in the cab, operating the crane. Shatler and the other man were in the bucket on the end of the crane. They were up on the crane working on the side of the elevator and needed to get to the other corner of the structure. However, the crane was too close to the building.
The truck-mounted crane was supported by four outriggers that were extended to the ground. To get to the other side of the structure, they swung the boom o

Train derails near downtown Lancaster
LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) - Police in Lancaster are on the scene of a train derailment near the downtown area of the city.
According to railway officials, a train derailed along the Lancaster and Chester Railway between Main Street and Market Street just after noon on Friday.
Officials say three cars of the cargo train derailed from the tracks, but declined to say what was in the cars.
The derailment blocked a section of Market Street and side roads around Main Street on Friday afternoon. Early reports indicate that no one was injured in the derailment.
This section of train tracks has presented problems in the past four years for the city of Lancaster.
In August 2010, a train jumped the tracks in the same area, blocking Main, Market and 15th streets for several hours.
A train also derailed and crashed into the Buy-Rite Discount Beverage in February 2007. Two people were inside the store when the cars came crashing through, one of those people was airlifted to the hospital.
Railroad officials say the train's engineers accidentally shoved the train's cars about 30 feet off the track while trying to add a rail car to the line. The store was demolished.
