Altering Earthquakes:
As of late, I have observed that USGS and EMSC are a bit lax on their reports of earthquakes. Sometimes not seeing anything reported for hours from the last update, or seeing periods of 90-200 minutes with no earthquakes in between. My question is, are they leaving swarms of earthquakes out of their reports, or there are actually periods of no earthquakes?
SOZT: Greater than 90% of the earthquake activity is being altered by the USGS at present, which is under orders to prevent any clue being given to the public about the Earth changes caused by the presence of Planet X. Over a decade ago, the approach was to de-sensitize the live seismographs periodically, so the displays do not turn black worldwide, and to ignore the twice-a-day patterns showing up on these seismographs. Then any quakes that could be dropped were dropped. This was obvious to some who were watching the database manipulation. Quakes in the list would suddenly disappear. This was particularly the case where a quake happened in a remote location, or out in the ocean. Dumbing down the magnitude quickly followed, but in order to ensure the public did not notice, the USGS took control of all websites reporting quake statistics. At times, this control breaks, and discrepancies are reported to the public. Some countries rebel. Quake swarms are another source of control, as they pepper the databases with many quakes and skew the statistics, and thus are pulled from the database. Else the question is raised, why so many? Will the USGS internet system be a reliable warning system for the European tsunami by registering on the net the New Madrid earthquake on the exact time it occurs?
SOZT: It will not be a lack of information from the USGS that will be the point of confusion during the earthquakes leading up to the New Madrid adjustment, it will be knowing which quake is the big one vs the many minor quakes preceding it. The USGS downgrades almost all earthquakes, to prevent meaningful statistics from being generated from their databases. They also exclude quakes whenever they can, but this is unlikely to happen in the New Madrid area as it is in the center of a populated land mass. Thus you will have magnitude 6 quakes that will be called a 5.2, magnitude 7 quakes called a 6.1, and when a magnitude 8 or greater quake occurs, it will be called a 6.9.
We would advise that rather than watching the USGS quake statistics, that you watch the Earth changes. The adjustment that will incite the European tsunami will involve bridges on the Mississippi breaking, and being impassable. The land to the west of the Mississippi will drop so that the Mississippi will become 50 miles wide in the state of Mississippi. Watch for this. The New Madrid adjustment will be several large quakes of magnitude 8-9, though will be listed as a lesser magnitude. As the N American continent continues to unzip up to and along the Seaway, the quakes will be less than a magnitude 8 but very destructive to Cleveland and Toledo and Buffalo and the inland locks along the Seaway. Thus it is not what the USGS says that should be watched, but the condition of the bridges on the Mississippi, the impact on the cities along the Seaway, and whether the inland locks are reported as inoperable. Earthquake - Middle-America - El Salvador Novembe r25, 2011
More than 700 slight to moderate earthquakes hit an area in eastern El Salvador in a 24-hour period, damaging dozens of homes but hurting no one. The brief quakes, which started Thursday and ranged from 1.8 to 4.6 in magnitude, have occurred in the municipality of El Carmen, some 163 km (101 miles) east of the capital of San Salvador, the country's National Territory agency said. Jorge Melendez, in charge of civil protection, said on Friday that 80 homes were damaged by the tremors, known as an earthquake swarm. A hospital in the area showed cracks on the walls but no structural damage so far, he said. Army troops were sent in to monitor the damaged areas. While authorities have not ordered evacuations yet, many residents of El Carmen chose to sleep in the open and the army was handing out tents. El Salvador suffered two powerful earthquakes 10 any ten years ago: one of 7.6 magnitude in January 2001 and another of 6.6 magnitude a month later. The quakes killed more than 1,150 people and left about one million others homeless.

The measure was enacted to Tihuilotal cantons and El Carmen in La Union
The cantons Tihuital and El Carmen, both of La Union, are from this morning under a yellow alert.
The Secretary of Vulnerability, Jorge Melendez, ordered the measure after a report that adds 720 microearthquakes in the area.
The seismic swarm has already caused damage to more than 100 homes and at least three are uninhabitable.
Other communities affected are those of The Hawk, La Cañada and Barrio Nuevo.

Scientist calls for earthquake awareness in Africa

Africans need to be more aware of earthquakes to cope with disasters — and there’s no better place to start than in schools, says Dr Chris Hartnady, technical director of Umvoto Africa, following the 200th anniversary of the Milnerton earthquake.
The epicentre of this earthquake is thought to have occurred very close to Jan Biesjes Kraal, about 20 km north-east of central Cape Town. The 1809 quake would have had a magnitude of about 6.2 and occurred in the late evening of 4 December 1809.
The probability and likely impact of major earthquakes in southern Africa are difficult to quantify. The continent has limited historical records and there have been just three or four events of a magnitude of seven or higher on the Richter scale since 1900 — compared with hundreds globally in the last 30 years.
Yet a major earthquake disaster in the region is inevitable because wide areas of southern Africa are affected by the slow southward spread of the East African rift system. It is not a question of if, but when.
And the consequences would be so expensive in terms of mortality and economic cost that the risk of being ill-prepared is unacceptably high. As was seen in the recent earthquake in Haiti and in China, major earthquakes can lead to large-scale loss of life and property due to building collapse, fires and landslides on unstable slopes, and catastrophic disruption of dam walls and water mains, and roads, railways and fuel pipelines.
Smaller quakes are damaging too
Careful monitoring and analysis of the many smaller earthquakes that occur annually can map the probable future locations of rare large events. But even smaller events can be a threat in Africa because of poor infrastructure and vulnerable populations.
A 2002 survey of significant earthquakes showed that the continent has suffered more than 50 events since 1980 that caused more than 23,000 deaths and injuries, and unquantified economic losses.
Africa's worst earthquake disaster was in Agadir, Morocco in February 1960, where more than 15,000 people were killed by an earthquake of only moderate magnitude (5.7). A 1969 earthquake in Tulbagh, South Africa, of magnitude 6.3, resulted in only 12 deaths but damaged 70 per cent of the town's buildings and left most of the population temporarily homeless.
Natural geophysical hazards such as these cannot be prevented, but a passive attitude and only simple emergency response are likely to be inadequate. African countries must prepare for earthquakes, both small and large, by assessing risk, reducing vulnerabilities over the long-term and enhancing coping capacities through advance planning.
Technology is to hand
In practice, this means identifying and analysing disaster risks, prioritising response to them, and monitoring, reviewing and communicating seismic activity.
This, in turn, requires developing remote sensing and geo-informatics technologies to integrate weather, climate, hydro(geo)logical, space-geodetic and seismological observation systems.
