(José G. Hernández)

San Antonio .- More than 70 homes in the Colombian town of La Parada, Villa del Rosario municipality in Norte de Santander, are flooded from Saturday night when Táchira River overflowed due to heavy rains in the region .

On Monday, the situation for families living in the La Playa, La Parada, was critical, because the level of river flow did not decrease and was leaning over the town. According to the report known, there were no casualties, but considerable material losses in equipment and property of the affected families.

Several families have already two sleepless nights and some had not even been close to their homes, because the abundant wealth that flowed through the streets and sidewalks is not allowed. Emergence was live from Saturday night, although in December the river had overflowed in the same sector.

Affected members of some families said that the mayor of Villa del Rosario and the governor of Norte de Santander had agreed to rebuild the protective barrier to prevent the river burst its banks, but those jobs were not implemented in full. The protective walls are not finished and the rising river, the weekend was great, said those affected.

In the new emergency recorded in the La Playa de La Parada, until Monday had only showed up Civil Defense personnel, to encourage and help people out of homes most at risk. Many people, risking their lives trying to get some belongings from flooded homes.

Those affected complained about the lack of government help, despite the emergency they are living. They said that after the December flood, the work of rebuilding the walls of protection is not finished. When winter began again, the Government sent a machine, but only worked two or three days, channeling the river, but the material removed was dragged by the flood to the homes.

Recalled that eight days after the flooding of December 3rd, staff of the municipality of Villa del Rosario took a census and some of the families who had lost everything, they gave a grant to rent and other kitchen kit. "With that, managed, but there were families who did not give us anything, although we were concerned. We had to remove the mud and turn to get here, "said one of those affected.

"Since Saturday, at 5 pm, we are again in an emergency. Our homes are flooded other time, we spent the night outside and several blocks away, because water does not allow us to approach, "he added.

Limit the mayor of Villa del Rosario had not authorized any safe haven for those affected. "Everyone on the street, and we have no where to eat," they said.
