Survival Techniques For The After Time

Survival Techniques For The After Time:

Survival techniques before and into the After Time will be a valuable resource not only for individuals but for groups as well.  Basic every day techniques such as sewing, baking, making a latrine to building a shelter and distilling water will be needed.  Knowing how to make a fire from animal dung to re-purposing  fabrics to make them fit someone else or made use of in other ways, will be much needed skills.  Zetatalk and Troubled times covers a vast area of topics on survival.  There are also videos that cover a large portion of survival techniques.  Researching will be a personal preference on what is needed or required for your own use and location.  A quick rule of thumb is surviving 3 minutes without air, 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food.  As always check your safe location and know your local area.

Personal Hygiene

For oldsters and disabled, an ordinary chair can be converted to a commode by cutting out a shaped seat and placing it above the latrine.

Feminine and Baby Hygiene - note items can also be hand sewn and shower curtains to plastic table cloth or  plastic bags used for the protective layer. Also for the absorbent layer, sphagnum moss is an alternative when other materials might not be available.  This technique can also be used for baby diapers.

The Search for the Perfect Dome — Simple, Inexpensive and Fast

DIY Dome Homes Built From Aircrete Are an Affordable & Ecofriendly Option

First there was foamcrete,1 then there was papercrete and hempcrete, and now we've got aircrete, a foamy mixture of air bubbles and cement that is cheap to make, water-resistant, fireproof, and DIY-friendly.

At one point, I fell under the spell of domes as a building form, and as I had plans to someday build my own home on some vacant land, I spent quite a bit of time and energy exploring the idea. Geodesic domes look cool, but there are a lot of angles and joints on a geodesic dome house that not only have to be cut and assembled, but would also serve as constant reminders of structural weak points, where water could leak through. Additionally, all of the materials would have to come from off-site, so that design was out for me.

The following video shows how inventive some solutions are to everyday tasks.  In a survival situation most of these items would be of use especially if there is no electricity.
