BLOOMINGTON, MINN. (WCCO) - A Bloomington hotel had to be evacuated after part of the building’s siding came crashing down.

Police and firefighters responded to a call of an explosion at the La Quinta Inn and Suites on American Boulevard about 2 a.m. Monday. officers found there was no explosion, but part of the building’s siding had come crashing down.

The fire chief said four concrete panels fell off the side of the building on the 14th floor and crashed down into the lobby area.

Some water lines in the lobby roof were damaged and flooded the lobby.

Guests were relocated to nearby hotels.

Bloomington city engineers were on the scene evaluating what caused the damage. Police said no construction was currently going on at the hotel.

No one was hurt in the incident.
