Spain Experiences its Worst Train Accident in 40 Years

An increase in train derailments was one of the first symptoms of the approach of Planet X to become noticeable, being expressed even before Planet X entered the inner solar system in 2003.

Planet X was described as affecting the Earth from afar, like tugging on the edge of a spider web where the effects are felt elsewhere on the web; in this way there has been an increase in earthquakes and unpredictable weather going back years, even before Planet X entered the solar system, due to the increased swirling of the Earth’s core.

It is therefore logical that an increase in train derailments would accompany any increase in seismic activity – train tracks need to be straight and even the slightest shift to the side of a section of track would cause a train to derail.

The area most affected by train derailments is the stretch zone.  Stretch zone quakes are silent, and people are generally unaware anything is happening, although signs such as booms and trumpet sounds can occur.

This zone stretches from Western Europe across the Eurasian Plate, and also includes the South-East United States, the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Red Sea and the African Rift.

In other parts of the world, shifting ground is more associated with earthquakes that people are aware of, such as the Pacific which is compressing, so authorities inspect railway tracks after any seismic activity, reducing the likelihood of accidents.

Train derails in Hong Kong during rush hour; 8 hurt

HONG KONG — A passenger train derailed during the morning rush hour in Hong Kong on Tuesday leaving eight people injured, authorities said.

Images from the scene showed three carriages had left the tracks and were zigzagged across the rails near Hung Hom station in Kowloon – a busy interchange that provides services to mainland China.

Passengers had to leave the train through a broken door and cross tracks on the East Rail line to make their way to safety.

Five hundred passengers had been evacuated from the train. Eight passengers reported injuries when they arrived at the concourse of the station, according to authorities.

The cause of the derailment was still under investigation but there was no immediate suggestion of foul play after previous attacks by pro-democracy protesters on the city’s mass transit system.

“We would not rule out any possibility but at this stage, we won’t speculate on any particular suggestions,” the city’s transport chief Frank Chan told reporters in a presser.

Train services between two stations on the line had been suspended due to the accident, according to MTR Corporation, the city’s only rail company.

Hong Kong is in its fourth month of political unrest, which has seen millions of protesters hit the streets in the biggest challenge to China’s rule since the city’s handover from Britain in 1997.

Sparked by a now-withdrawn bill to allow extraditions to the mainland, the protests have turned increasingly violent with clashes between police and hardcore protesters becoming frequent.

MTR Corporation has been targeted by protesters since the company refused to hand over CCTV footage of police last month beating demonstrators and passengers on a subway train.

Protesters have vented their fury by vandalizing entrance barriers and ticketing machines and smashing windows in several stations.

In March, an MTR locomotive derailed and crashed into another train during the testing of a new signaling system.

Both trains were badly damaged and the two train drivers suffered only minor injuries. No passengers were on the trains at the time. /kga

Evacuation order lifted in southern Alberta hours after train derails, leaks octane

September 2 2019

Rail cars were leaking octane after a derailment in southern Alberta Monday morning, prompting road closures and evacuations.

An evacuation order prompted by a train derailment in southern Alberta was lifted on Monday afternoon.

Fire crews from Barons, Picture Butte, Nobleford and Coalhurst responded to a train derailment at Highway 23 and Township Road 120 on Monday.

“There are rail cars currently leaking octane,” the county said in a message on Facebook shortly after 10 a.m

The derailment happened south of the village of Barons, which is about 45 kilometres northwest of Lethbridge.

CP Rail said the derailment happened at approximately 7:40 a.m.

“CP has deployed teams and equipment to the site,” the company said in an email to Global News.

An evacuation was ordered just before 11 a.m. for everyone from Highway 23 west to Range Road 23-5, Highway 23 east to Range Road 23-2, and Township Road 12-2 south to Township Road 11-4, an Alberta Emergency Alert  said. The evacuation order includes the Keho Lake area and the Keho Lake campground.

The evacuated area was about two kilometres in size, according to the county. The village of Barons was outside that zone but was put on evacuation notice as a precaution.

The evacuation order was lifted at 4 p.m., Lethbridge County officials said in a news release.

“Fire crews in co-ordination with CP Rail have contained the octane leak from the overturned rail cars,” officials said. “As the evacuation order has been rescinded, the reception centre at the Nobleford Community Complex has been closed.”

Highway 23 was shut down between Township Road 114 and Township Road 122 and traffic was being rerouted westbound.

In a 12:30 p.m. update, Lethbridge County officials said this was the worst leak the area has seen in some time.

“The cars that were leaking were octane and it is a flammable liquid,” Reeve Lorne Hickey said. “I think it’s an additive for gasoline.”

“No timeline yet on when the situation will be resolved,” Hickey added. “They currently have two cars stopped leaking and are working on the third.

“The car that’s leaking is underneath a couple other cars so they’re having to lift those cars off to get to the one that’s leaking.”

Had different train cars derailed, the situation could have been worse, the reeve said.

“The other cars involved were anhydrous ammonia, which they would have had to double the site they’d have to evacuate if that was the case.”

'Chemical exposure' train derailment shuts Trans-Canada Highway in southern Alta., prompts evacuation

Residents near hamlet of Irvine asked to leave immediately as county declares local state of emergency

A train derailment is shown near the hamlet of Irvine, Alta., on Friday. Residents are being told to evacuate the area within seven kilometres as a precaution.

A train derailment in southern Alberta has forced an evacuation and shut down part of the Trans-Canada Highway.

Between 12 and 15 cars left the tracks near Irvine, Alta., on Friday afternoon, police said, and some may contain flammable cargo.

The derailment involves "chemical exposure" according to Alberta Emergency Alert, which told residents within a seven-kilometre radius to evacuate the area immediately.

The train derailed on the west side of Irvine — a community of about 300 people, some 35 kilometres southeast from Medicine Hat — along the north side of Highway 1 in Cypress County, officials said in an alert sent at 4:52 p.m. MT.

"Cypress County has declared a state of local emergency and is working with stakeholders and partners to assist in the evacuation," the county said in a release Friday evening.

RCMP and fire officials are assisting.

Canadian Pacific Railway says the derailment happened at about 3:20 p.m. MT and they have "dispatched teams to the site."

Train, grass on fire

"One of the train cars was on fire and then the grass lit on fire, so they closed the highway," Lethbridge resident Trehia May Stevenson, who drives that stretch of road often, told CBC News.

She says she was there shortly after the accident — "before the first responders."

"I was about five minutes behind the derailing. There were about 12 cars that derailed, maybe more, and none of them were tankers. It was close to the back end of the train and the rest of [the] train was still on the track."
