Spain Experiences its Worst Train Accident in 40 Years

An increase in train derailments was one of the first symptoms of the approach of Planet X to become noticeable, being expressed even before Planet X entered the inner solar system in 2003.

Planet X was described as affecting the Earth from afar, like tugging on the edge of a spider web where the effects are felt elsewhere on the web; in this way there has been an increase in earthquakes and unpredictable weather going back years, even before Planet X entered the solar system, due to the increased swirling of the Earth’s core.

It is therefore logical that an increase in train derailments would accompany any increase in seismic activity – train tracks need to be straight and even the slightest shift to the side of a section of track would cause a train to derail.

The area most affected by train derailments is the stretch zone.  Stretch zone quakes are silent, and people are generally unaware anything is happening, although signs such as booms and trumpet sounds can occur.

This zone stretches from Western Europe across the Eurasian Plate, and also includes the South-East United States, the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Red Sea and the African Rift.

In other parts of the world, shifting ground is more associated with earthquakes that people are aware of, such as the Pacific which is compressing, so authorities inspect railway tracks after any seismic activity, reducing the likelihood of accidents.

1 killed as train derails, hits another

One person was killed and several were injured when the Bengaluru-bound Guwahati-Bangalore Express and the Azimgunj Fast Passenger collided between Jamirghata and Gourghata stations in Malda district of West Bengal around 7:10 pm on Sunday evening.

According to Railway Authorities, six coaches, including the engine, of the Bangalore-bound train derailed and moved to the parallel tracks, where they were hit by the passenger train coming from the opposite direction.

The derailed coaches of the Bengaluru-bound train, which left Guwahati at 6:30 am on Sunday, included two parcel bogies and a general compartment. The two parcel bogies fell into a ditch after the impact.

“A major disaster has been averted. One bogie of the Azimgunj passenger climbed over another another bogie. So far one person has died. The number of deaths can increase,” Sabina Yeasmin, Minister of State for Labour, who is overseeing rescue operations, told The Indian Express over the phone.

EUNICE CITY, La. — Ever since a string of train cars derailed in 2000, dumping hazardous materials and chemicals into the bayous and Eunice City Lake, lots of folks have been turned off of fishing.

Although lake fish are safe to eat, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says fears about contamination have prompted them to use $1 million in money left over from federal court proceedings against Union Pacific Railroad to drain the lake and remove all the fish. It will then be restocked with bass, bluegill, red-ear sunfish and sac-a-lait.

Thirty-three cars of an eastbound Union Pacific train derailed northwest of Eunice on a bridge crossing a tributary to Bayou Des Cannes. Fifteen cars contained hazardous materials and chemicals and two rail cars exploded.

Freight Train Derails Outside Tbilisi
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 30 Jul.'11 / 19:52

Screen grab from Rustavi 2 TV footage showing derailed cars from the incident site on July 30 close to Mtskheta.

Cargo train hauling over dozen of cars, carrying fuel and other types of products, derailed close to Mtskheta, a small town outside Tbilisi on July 30, an emergency service official said.

Ten rail cars, including those carrying fuel, have left the track and overturned as a result of the incident in which no one was injured, Nodar Chumbadze, an official from the emergency services management agency, told Rustavi 2 TV.

Fuel was spilled, he said, and to prevent fire the incident site was filled with foam by fire fighting teams. Fuel also spilled over on a section of the main east-west highway, running close to the site where the derailment occurred, disrupting movement on the highway too.

According to preliminary information one of the rail cars was “technically faulty” which caused the derailment, Irma Stepnadze, a spokesperson for the state-run Georgian Railway, told Civil.ge.

She said that the freight train was carrying cargo belonging to various firms, including from Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

The derailment will cause at least two hour delays in schedule of passenger trains, planning to head from Tbilisi to the western part of the country, according to the Georgian Railway.

Derailed train causes chaos

INLSA

A train derailed outside Bellville station this morning caused delays for commuters.

STAFF REPORTERS

COMMUTERS on the city’s northern railway lines were plunged into chaos this morning when a train carriage derailed outside Bellville and an overhead power failure near Kraaifontein stopped trains in their tracks.

Metrorail regional manager Lindelo Matya said the carriage had been empty and the driver had not been injured, but the incident had rendered two northern service corridors “inoperable”.

Trains were unable to run from Strand and Bishop Lavis to Bellville.

A third line serving Kraaifontein was also out of operation because of an overhead power line failure at Huguenot station.

Matya said that while a bus had been arranged to transport commuters between Paarl and Wellington, there were not enough available buses for the other routes affected by the derailment and power failure.

“We have no option but to advise customers to make alternative travel arrangements. We realise the extent of their inconvenience and we are working as fast as we possibly can to clear the affected lines.”

Matya said Transnet Freight Rail was working to restore the overhead power so that the service on the Kraaifontein corridor could be restored.

He asked employers to be lenient with employees affected by the disruptions. By 8am today, traffic along the N1 and main roads in the northern suburbs was heavily congested as a result of the train service disruptions.

Stranded commuters streamed from stations into the streets to try to get a taxi or a bus.

Those who had travelled to their nearest station by car and parked there appeared to be back on the roads to make their way to work.

“Everything coming from Somerset West and the Bellville area has been affected and, apart from more vehicles, there are also lots of people on the streets,” said Kevin Jacobs, Cape Town traffic spokesman.

“The main roads are heavily congested. I am driving through Kuils River and it is very busy on the road here at the moment,” he said this morning.

The explosion destroyed 30 feet of railway tracks and derailed the locomotive and three bogies of the train. “It was a remote controlled blast aimed at the Bolan Mail,” said Gharshin. According to railway officer Nazir Ahmed, around 30 to 35 feet railway track was completely destroyed and 345 feet of railway track was damaged in the explosion. He said that the rail service between Quetta and the rest of the country was suspended soon after the blast. “Repair work to the damaged track has begun and the rail service will likely be restored by late Friday night. RAIL commuters faced major delays last night after an empty passenger train derailed in Princes Street Gardens at the height of the rush hour, leaving passengers unable to travel from Edinburgh Waverley station.

The disruption was expected to continue until this morning while Network Rail engineers examined the scene.

The train was travelling to a depot in Edinburgh when the derailment happened at around 6pm.

There were no reports of any injuries and i

t is believed there were only two railway workers on board at the time.

An emergency timetable was put in place and passengers were warned to expect delays of up to 90 minutes on routes such as Edinburgh to Glasgow and Dunfermline.

Passengers for the 11:40pm Edinburgh to London Euston sleeper service were told they would need to catch a special bus service to Carstairs, where they would be able to join the train.

A spokeswoman for ScotRail said last night: "We are currently preparing a temporary timetable and will update our website this evening with details.

"We are also trying to source replacement buses."

She continued: "An empty train on its way to the depot has derailed at Princess Street Gardens. No passengers were on board the train."

One passenger wrote on micro-messaging website Twitter: "Scotrail have their flagship Glasgow line running. Rest of us are left to make our own way home."

The Kanpur-Shikohabad passenger train derailed near Sarai Bhupat station in Etawah on North-Central Railway in the early hours of today, railway sources said here.

No one was injured in the accident, which occurred around 0130 hours, they said.

This is the third incident of derailment in the last fortnight on the busy Howrah-Delhi route.

The accident has affected the running of more than a dozen trains, including the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express and Shatabdi Express.

Relief trains have reached the spot to remove the derailed engine and two coaches of the train. Several trains, including four Rajdhani Express trains, Prayagraj, Gorakhdham and Kanpur-New Delhi Shatabdi Express have been detained at different stations on the way.

Meanwhile, efforts are on to clear the tracks to allow important trains to pass through the down track.

The Railways have ordered a probe into the derailment.

Over 80 passengers were killed when 13 coaches of the Kalka Mail derailed at Malawan station near Fatehpur on July 10. Later, a couple of wagons of a goods train had derailed near Kanpur last week.
