"The causes of landslides are not a mystery to mankind. Layers of rock and soil such that rain running along a clay or rock layer can create a slippery surface for the weight of the layers above it is a common cause. A rock jumble from previous mountain building, broken or fractured rock easily dislodged. We have stated that the earthquakes man experiences between the periodic passages of Planet X can be considered aftershocks from the last passage, and this is true of landslides also. Mountain building rumples the landscape, so the land is not flat but has steep ravines and hill sides. Older mountain ranges are recognized for their rounded or smoothed appearance, because of frequent landslides distributing the rubble.

"As we approach another passage, another Pole Shift, the pace of landslides has picked up. Why would this be? Plates under pressure will put pressure on regions that contain rumpled hillsides and deep ravines, as these give more readily than strictly flat land, thus act as a weak link. In addition, due to the wobble, the weather has gotten more extreme, with drought and deluge increasing in extremes. Dry ground, suddenly flooded with rainwater needing to seek its level as runoff, will create internal water slides between the rock and soil layers that constitute the rumpled hillsides. Is there an early warning system that mankind could use? The trembles that soil about to slide emits could be detected, yes. These are not earthquakes, and have their own frequency. "

Canada: Landslide damages Westside Road.

May 1, 2018

Traffic is down to one lane in the 8500 block of Westside Road just north Ewing Landing after a second landside in the area.

Part of the road, on the west side of Okanagan Lake, caved in around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, but problems were identified on Monday.

Early Tuesday afternoon, Central Okanagan Emergency Operations also issued an evacuation alert for two properties below Westside Road at Ewing Landing because of “slope instability.”

Just before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday that evacuation alert was upgraded to an evacuation order.

Residents of 8645 N Westside Road and 8635 Westside Road are required to leave their properties.

The regional district said officials have also declared a local state of emergency covering the area along Westside Road from 5625 Westside Road to 10374 Westside Road “in response to the threat to property caused by slope instability.”

Neighbour Dietrich Goldammer said he saw growing cracks in the road before the landslide

There is a gaping hole in the roadside foliage where trees and bushes have crashed down.

Single lane alternating traffic is currently getting through.

It does not appear that any buildings were hit by the slide.

Uganda: More than 2,000 people are currently homeless after fresh landslides hit about eight villages in Bududa Sub-county

Apr 30, 2018

The landslides, which were triggered by hours of heavy rains, swept away homes, gardens and livestock, prompting residents to flee the largely mountainous area. The most affected are Shiaza, Buhasiru, Buwaninda, Sholelo, Nafunane, Bunateme and Bukhalobo villages.

Residents said the mudslides occurred during the night as most of them were sleeping. Residents have appealed to government for aid. “We have no shelter, food or clothes because our crops have been buried,” said Prisca Nandudu, a resident.

Bududa District chairperson Wilson Watira urged government to come good on its promise to move the people to safer areas before more lives are lost.

Bududa has been prone to land and mudslides for generations. The worst happened on March 1, 2010 when more than 300 people were buried in Nametsi.

There has been fierce resistance to a government effort to relocate the most vulnerable people in Bududa and neighbouring districts, with activists saying it would be even more disastrous for villagers to abandon their ancestral homes. Even those who were relocated to a camp for refugees after the 2010 landslides secretly returned to Bududa.

Mexico: The landslides continue in Lomas del Rubí.

Apr 20, 2018

The neighbors of the houses that are still standing in the neighborhood of Lomas del Rubí saw their rest interrupted when they heard the opening and enlargement of a new crack in the Avenida Liberal Patria avenue on Thursday night.

For a little over two months, inhabitants of the Lomas del Rubí neighborhood witnessed how what began as a small fault in one of the streets spread until the landslide resulted in the collapse of 90 homes.

In spite of the landslides, it seemed that the disaster had stopped in the Liberal Patria Patria avenue, where the buildings remained standing and undamaged.

However, on Thursday night a crack appeared in the road, which spread and caused another house to collapse and three others to slide and are about to collapse.
