Spain Experiences its Worst Train Accident in 40 Years

An increase in train derailments was one of the first symptoms of the approach of Planet X to become noticeable, being expressed even before Planet X entered the inner solar system in 2003.

Planet X was described as affecting the Earth from afar, like tugging on the edge of a spider web where the effects are felt elsewhere on the web; in this way there has been an increase in earthquakes and unpredictable weather going back years, even before Planet X entered the solar system, due to the increased swirling of the Earth’s core.

It is therefore logical that an increase in train derailments would accompany any increase in seismic activity – train tracks need to be straight and even the slightest shift to the side of a section of track would cause a train to derail.

The area most affected by train derailments is the stretch zone.  Stretch zone quakes are silent, and people are generally unaware anything is happening, although signs such as booms and trumpet sounds can occur.

This zone stretches from Western Europe across the Eurasian Plate, and also includes the South-East United States, the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Red Sea and the African Rift.

In other parts of the world, shifting ground is more associated with earthquakes that people are aware of, such as the Pacific which is compressing, so authorities inspect railway tracks after any seismic activity, reducing the likelihood of accidents.

Emergency officials are on scene at a train derailment that has blocked Kenaston Boulevard traffic in both directions.

A southbound CN freight train went off the tracks around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday north of McGillivray Boulevard near Kenaston Commons.

CN spokeswoman Emily Hamer said the derailment involved five cars carrying cement.

The train wasn't carrying dangerous goods and there were no injuries or environmental threats, Hamer said. The rail cars were tilted but didn't fall over during the derailment.

Crews were working to clear the tracks Wednesday evening.

Nearby resident Kyle, 17, who didn’t want to give his last name, said he heard a loud bang while he was in his backyard, ran out and saw the derailed train.

"It sounded like a big bang. It really got loud," he said.

Canadian Pacific Freight Train Derails in Saskatchewan

CP Says 24 Railcars Derailed, Causing No Injuries or Leakage

July 16, 2014 9:05 p.m. ET

TORONTO— Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. CP.T +0.88% said 24 railcars of a freight train carrying a mixed cargo that included gasoline derailed in Saskatchewan on Wednesday, causing no injuries or leakage.

The 89-car train was heading eastbound on the railroad's mainline in Saskatchewan and was carrying lumber, asphalt and gasoline, said Ed Greenberg, a spokesman with the Calgary-based railroad.

The incident is the third derailment of a major Canadian railroad in two weeks. On Thursday, a train operated by Canadian National Railway Co. CNR.T +0.76% carrying automobiles, carbon powder and empty fuel-tank cars derailed in eastern Ontario. On July 4, two crude-carrying cars on a CN train derailed in central Alberta. There were no reports of injuries or fire in those accidents.

The latest derailment occurred at about 2 p.m. MDT Wednesday near Moose Jaw, a small city in south-central Saskatchewan about 40 miles west of Regina.

Mr. Greenberg said that CP has several rerouting options in the Canadian province and isn't suspending service along its rail network.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has dispatched two investigators to the site, a spokesman for the agency said. CP also is investigating the accident, Mr. Greenberg said.

Train derailments in Canada have faced heightened scrutiny amid regulators' moves to enhance rail safety in the wake of several fiery accidents in North America that involved crude-by-rail transport.

N.S. train derailment caused when track 'buckled'

http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/n-s-train-derailment-caused-when-track...

WEST RIVER STATION, N.S. - The Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Railway has determined that a train carrying propane derailed last month in Pictou County when the track buckled.

The province's Transportation Department says the cause of the derailment is outlined in a report submitted by the railway earlier this week.

The department says the report determined the track buckled after a sudden and unusual fluctuation of rail temperature and accumulated steel stress in a section of track.

Six homes were evacuated as a precaution June 9 after seven cars went off the tracks in West River Station, including six that overturned.

Transportation Minister Geoff MacLellan says his department is satisfied with the railway's response since the derailment, including replacing a portion of track and performing a stress test on the rail line.

The government says the railway will also implement a number of preventative measures, including restricting train speed during certain hours in the summer and cancelling train operations in extreme heat.

MacLellan says Transport Canada inspectors hired by the department will keep a close eye on the railway to ensure it is doing everything it can to prevent a similar incident.

Bulgaria: Sofia-Varna Train Incident Leaves Motorman Dead It is unclear why the train left the rails on Saturday afteernoon, but the Interior Ministry says a probe is already ongoing. Photo by BGNES

One man died after a train traveling from Sofia to Varna derailed near the central Bulgarian city of Stara Zagora on Saturday, 15:17 EEST (13:17 GMT).

The victim was the train's driver.

Fifteen were left injured, two of them in a critical condition, authorities say. Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski, however, said the number their number could rise.

He also wrote on his Facebook profile he was closely following the developments and had sent Transport Minister Danail Papazov and other officials to the station where the events took place.

Those wounded were taken to the nearest hospital, according to the Bulgarian National Radio, which quotes official sources.

Most of them were over 43 years of age, and no children were among the injured. It is yet unknown why four carriages and the engine went off the track, but the reasons are under investigation, the Interior Ministry's Chief Secretary Svetlozar Lavarov declared.

The locomotive of the train crossing the south of Bulgaria spinned while derailing and hit the carriages behind it.

It was reported that the incident happened at the Kaloyanovets train station near Stara Zagora, where the composition had been divided, with some of the cars heading for the southern Black Sea city of Burgas.

Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) head Hristian Krastev reported the track had recently undergone repairs.

A freight train carrying furnace oil from Patenga derailed at Sitakunda in Chittagong yesterday morning and leaked around 21,255 gallons of crude, most of which spilled into a canal.
The accidental spill from three tank wagons of the freight train poses serious threat to aquatic creatures in the canal water that flows toward the Bay.
The engine and six oil-laden tankers of the Dohazari Peaking Power Plant-bound train slipped off the track at Uttar Chhalimpur near Faujdarhat Railway Station around 6:30am.
"The derailment happened as the loco master violated the signal," said Abdul Hai, chief engineer of Bangladesh Railway (East Zone).

Oil-laden train derails in CtgPeople were seen collecting oil in their buckets from the canal, three to four kilometres away from the sea.
Md Javed, a local who was scooping up the split oil, said "I will sell the oil to a local shop to earn some bucks."
Asked whether the oil spill could reach sea water through the canal, Salahuddin Aziz, chairman of 10 Chhalimpur union, said, "There is a possibility of the crude getting mixed with sea water.
"During the high tide sea water floods the canal and then draws back."
Dr Alok Pal, professor of geography and environmental studies in Chittagong University, said, "Fish feed on plankton found on water surface, which would be destroyed by such a large volume of spill."
Jahir Alam, an assistant engineer of Dohazari Peaking Power Plant, said there were about 7,085 gallons of furnace oil in each wagon.

"Six wagons derailed and all oil from three wagons leaked into the nearby canal," said a senior railway official, preferring not to be named.
"It will take three to four days to assess the extent of damage caused by the derailment," Jahir said.
An intercity train with 500 passengers narrowly escaped a fatal accident on the route as the freight train was about to enter Faujdarhat Railway Station, violating the signal.

Udayan Express from Sylhet was approaching the station on green signal when the freight train was on the track, said Chandan Kanti Das, chief signal and telecommunication engineer of BR (East).
Sensing danger, the station master blinked red signal for the Udayan Express and its loco master managed to stop the Chittagong-bound passenger train, he added.
Rail communications between Chittagong and other parts of the country remained suspended for seven hours since 6:30 am following the derailment of the freight train at Sitakunda.

The railway authorities suspended the train's loco master Uttam Kumar Bhattacharya and assistant loco master Didar Hossain on charge of violating the signal, said Mozammel Haque, general manager of BR (East).
Two committees -- one led by BR (East) chief engineer and another by Chittagong Divisional Transportation Officer Md Zakir Hossain -- were formed to investigate the incident.
On July 30, 2013, train service on Chittagong-Dohazari route was disrupted after three oil tank wagons of a freight train derailed in Baruapara area of Boalkhali upazila in Chittagong.

A so-called "Death Train" used by Mexicans and Central Americans to travel toward the U.S. border derailed in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca on Wednesday, stranding at least 1,300 migrants, emergency services said. It was the same day that President Barack Obama met with Texas Gov. Rick Perry to discuss the border crisis.

Nicknamed "the Beast," the cargo train unexpectedly came off the tracks Wednesday, leaving many of the migrants injured, Reuters reported. However, none of them, most of them young people, were reported to sustain any injuries while riding what others have referred to as "El Tren de la Muerte," or Death Train. Authorities said several days of heavy rain in southern Mexico may have been the cause of derailment.

Derailed CN train cars sit beside the tracks near Brockville, Ont., on Thursday July 10, 2014, after 26 cars jumped the tracks.

Via Rail had to transport some of its passengers via charter bus after a CN freight train derailed in Brockville around 4 a.m. Thursday morning.

Train trips from Toronto to Ottawa and Toronto to Montreal have been cancelled until further notice.

Mylène Bélanger, a media representative for Via Rail Canada, told reporters that approximately 1,600 passengers have been affected.

Customers were immediately alerted of the accident, which could set departure times back by up to one hour, when they arrived at Union Station.

Bélanger said the company has found enough buses to carry all passengers scheduled to travel in the morning, but it is still working on getting rides for the afternoon.

“We have no indication of how long this could last but we are making all efforts to secure buses for passengers travelling today,” she said.

No injuries were reported, but the 26-car freight train did lose some of its cargo.

Lindsay Fedchyshyn from CN Rail said two of the cars were carrying vehicles and another five were holding carbon powder, which is used for mostly water filtration.

The train was also pulling 13 empty tanks which have fuel residue in them, but there aren’t any leaks, confirmed Fedchyshyn. The last six were empty platform cars.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed a team of investigators to the scene of the accident. They are currently trying to determine what caused the accident.

Dart derails after collision with rocks between Greystones and Bray

None of the 33 passengers on board the train were injured in the incident.

A DART TRAVELLING between Greystones and Bray has come off the tracks this evening.

Irish Rail confirmed toTheJournal.ie that rock fall along the Bray Head area of the track caused the train to derail.

It is believed that a number of large boulders fell on to the tracks below.

None of the 33 passengers on the 11.10pm Dart from Greystones to Connolly Station were injured in the incident.

A spokesperson for Irish Rail said that they are in the process of getting another train out to the area where the passengers have been taken off the train.

“Where they are situated at the moment it would mean the passengers would have to walk a mile or so in the dark,” said a spokesperson for the company, who said that they were working on getting another train to the passengers shortly.

Due to tonight’s incident there will be no trains between Greystones and Bray in the morning.

Derailed train back on tracks, no injuries reported

Posted: Jul 08, 2014 5:47 PM EDTUpdated: Jul 08, 2014 6:32 PM EDT
CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -A train is now moving again Tuesday evening after it had derailed in North Caddo Parish, blocking a railroad crossing.

Kansas City Southern officials said a locomotive an empty rail car jumped the tracks around 3 p.m. near Highway 1 just south of Rodessa. That sparked a small brush fire, which was snuffed out by Caddo Parish firefighters.

The train did not topple, and nothing was spilled out of it, but the derailment did cause a blockage at a nearby RR crossing. The intersection leads into a private oil rig, so it did not affect public traffic.

No injuries have been reported, and KCS is investigating the cause of the fire and the derailment, said spokeswoman C. Doniele Carlson.

Train derails in western Montana; 3 cars in river

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Crews on Sunday will attempt to remove three Boeing 737 fuselages that tumbled down a steep bank and into the Clark Fork River in western Montana after a train derailed.

Montana Rail Link spokeswoman Lynda Frost said Saturday that it's unclear the type of challenge involved because it's the first time the company has faced such a task.

No one was injured when 19 cars from a westbound train derailed Thursday about 10 miles west of Alberton. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.

The train carried six fuselages. Three others also fell off but stayed on land. Frost says Boeing has had workers at the scene assessing the damage.

The fuselages were headed to Renton, Washington, to be assembled into completed airliners.
